- Yogan, Igo nods as a hand comes up to one of the tac pockets of his vest. He undoes a latch and a scroll drops out. He lays it on the ground in front of him, unravels is down past the several seals he'd prepared before, and concentrates. He closes his eyes and takes a slow, deep breath.[1]
- When his eyes open, he holds his right hand out. The tip of his index finger begins to glow, just as Reijin's had. He stared in awe for a moment, then shook his head and focused. His hand went down to the parchment of the scroll, and he began to copy the seal he'd watched Reijin make.[2]
- The first few tries, his seals fizzled out as he tried to finish them. Believe it or not, this was because he'd never done the basic sealing technique before. He chuckled at the irony, shaking his head again. Then, he took another deep breath, and concentrated once more.[3]
- This time, with careful consideration and focus, he managed to carve the seal out. The chakra around his fingertip disappated and he stared down at his scroll for a moment. Then he'd look across the field to Reijin's. After doing this a few times, he'd nod to himself. 'Think I got it down,' he thinks.[4]
- He concentrates again, and the glow returns to his fingers. He takes a few extra minutes to repeat the process until he was confident he'd gotten the seal down, and the finger carving technique with it. Finally, he'd nod, roll the scroll back up, and replace it to his tac pocket.[5]
- "Think that does it."
- Yogan, Igo // As Reijin had begun to fire off his chains, Igo had moved to enclose himself in the barrier of his own volition. Once inside, he'd walk to one edge and press his hand against it. Solid as ever. He nodded once, then his hands had come up to form a single seal. He'd thrust a hand forward and two balls of scorch chakra would rocket toward the chakra barrier.[6]
- Strong as his techniques were, it failed to punch through. Igo grinned.
- "This'll work nicely, I think," he say, nodding to Reijin. "Can you protect yourself from those trapped within, though? If you trap us in with them, what stops them from coming at you while you're concentrating on the barrier?"[7]
- finds an empty spot in the dirt field and nods to himself. He kneels, reaching up and unlatching all four tac-pockets on the right sight of his vest. Four seperate scrolls with a Fuuinjutsu labeling fall out. Igo catches them and lays them out on the ground surrounding him.[8]
- He takes a moment to unravel each scroll. He had to unroll several feet of each before they showed blank stretches. He reached into his back pouch and pulled out 16 full sets of shuriken; 30 each, and laid 4 stacks each on each of the scrolls, exactly 3 inches apart from each other. When he was satisfied, he nodded, then turned and faced the black scroll; his main one. [9]
- Igo took a deep, slow breath, then nodded once more to himself, and knelt. He closed his eyes for a moment, then began to focus on his chakra. He brought his right hand up, forming almost a one-handed seal, and then the tip of his right index finger began to glow blue. Igo opened his eyes, and exhaled slowly, and then he began to trace the kanji for his personal lotus seal into the air a few centimeters above the first stack of shuriken.[10]
- The air began to glow blue, matching the glow of his finger. Then, a shimmering seal appeared, floating above the shuriken. Tendrils of blank ink spilled from the glowing seal and wrapped around each shuriken in the stack. The paper began to his and smoke, as per usual, and then the ink began to drag the projectiles /into/ the scroll. It happened in a matter of seconds, but when it finished, all 30 shuriken in the set had been pulled into the scroll. A bright blue flame etched the symbol of a lotus flower in its spot, surrounded by Igo's own personal sealing formula.[11]
- A small smile appeared on his face. The finger carving technique was much more satisfying than using the old brush and ink. Igo stared at his finger for a moment, willing his chakra back into it. The tip began to glow once more, and so Igo moved on to the next stack on the scroll. He repeated the process once more.[12]
- The same thing happened. The glowing blue seal appeared, with its tendrils of ink. The scroll began to smoke as the ink dragged the shuriken down into the scroll. The flash of blue fire as the lotus seal appeared next to the previous.[13]
- Igo went on, repeating the process 14 more times. By the time he was finished, each scroll had a total of 15 full lotus seals contained within. A formidable armament, to be sure. He picked them up and placed them back into their pockets on the right side of his vest.[14]
- 's right hand comes reaches up and undoes 4 of the tactical pockets on the right side of his vest. Four seperate scrolls, each clearly marked as Fuuinjutsu scrolls, fall out. Igo repeats the process he'd done twice earlier. He places the four on the ground surrounding him, then unravels each until an empty stretch of scroll showed.[15]
- He nods once to himself, then reaches into his back pouch and pulls out four full sets of 30 shuriken, held together by a piece of string. He undoes the string on each, then lays the stacks of shuriken upon each of the scrolls, exactly three inches away from the previous lotus seal. He closes his eyes for a moment and takes a deep breath.[16]
- He opens his eyes, and one hand comes up before him. He outstretches an index finger. The tip begins to glow with a blue light; manifested chakra. He brings his hand down and traces the kanji for his lotus seal in the air a few centimeters above the first stack of shuriken. A bright blue flame appears in the air where he'd carved the seal.[17]
- Then, tendrils of ink shoot from the glowing, floating seal. The tendrils wrap and coil themselves around the stack of shuriken. Next, the scroll beneath the shuriken begins to glow and smoke. Suddenly, the ink begins to drag the throwing stars down into the scroll. The whole process lasts only a few seconds, but once its complete, a bright blue flame appears on the scroll, singing the symbol of a lotus flower into the paper.[18]
- Lines of ink appear to surround the symbol, and they dance and wriggle for a moment before morphing and taking the shape of his own personal sealing formula. Igo smiled, and the glow around his finger subsided for a moment. He turned to face the next scroll. With focus, the glow returned to his finger, and he repeated the entire process; sealing stacks of shuriken into the scrolls for use later.[19]
- By the time he'd finished, each scroll contained 15 full lotus seals. Ideally, he was planning on coming up with a way to create a shuriken hailstorm. In battle, he'd be able to toss one or all of the scrolls up into the air. Then, by channeling his chakra up into the scroll/s, he'd activate the seals. This would cause the scrolls to unravel rapidly, and expel all of its' stored weapons.[20]
- When he'd finished, he'd scoop each scroll back up. He rolls them back up, re-clasps them, and then places them back in their pockets on his chest. Looking at the Senjus, he'd give himself a satisfied nod as he plopped down into a seating position with his legs crossed beneath him.[21]
- Next, he'd pull a seperate scroll out of his back pouch, one that hadn't been filled yet, and unravel it. He pulls out 9 kunai, and places them in three sets of three each, no more than 6 inches apart on the scroll. He'd concentrate one again, and the bright blue light would appear around the tip of his finger.[22]
- This time, he traced the seals one after another without stopping. It was a bit easier this go, as the basic sealing technique was much less complex. When he'd finished, he'd successfully started a 5th scroll; this one containing basic seals and basic weapon sets. He grinned at himself, rolled the scroll back up, then placed it back into his back pouch.[23]
- Yogan, Igo finds and empty stretch of the pitch behind the newly constructed testing facility. He waits a moment as Jai walks in behind him, and offers the boy a nod. He waves him over, then quirks a brow, crossing his arms, looking him up and down. After a moment, he grins.[24]
- "Alright, lad. So I heard you say earlier you could use water, lightning and wind, yeah?" he asks.
- nods. "Alright," he says, taking a deep breath. "We'll start with wind release, then. I myself am a wind user. I am a descendent of the Omezo clan, and my kekkei genkai is the scorch release, which uses both the fire and wind elements.[25]
- To create wind jutsu, the way I learned is you have to mold your chakra and imagine you are compressing it and folding it tightly into itself until it actually feels like a razor sharp blade or disc, and then you let release it. It sounds easier then it is, though. There's a reason wind is the rarest of the five elements. Its because it takes a lot of discipline and control to create.[26]
- Once you've got the concept down you can play around with it until you find a way that feel easiest for you. Some wind techniques aren't necessarily made for cutting, so depending on the jutsu, and how you're using it, you don't want it to feel like a sharp blade. I dunno which technique you have, but for instance..."[27]
- Igo finally stops speaking for a moment. His hands come together before his chest. They form a single and seal. He focuses for half an instant, and in the next, a torrent of gale-force winds would explode out from him in all directions, whipping dirt, sand and debris everywhere. [28]
- "The Divine Wind technique is a jutsu used to knock enemies or objects away from you. It doesn't exactly utilize "sharp" chakra, if you get what I mean." Igo waved as Aurin and Swarz joined them, took a deep breath, and turned to face the cliffside. He spoke louder to project his voice, since he wasn't facing toward them.[29]
- "Yeah, anyone and everyone! Anyway, as I was saying, another example of a wind technique that's not exactly dependant on "sharp chakra" would be the Vacuum Sphere technique." Igo's hands whip back up and they fly through 3 hand seals. He takes a deep breath, drawing as much air into his belly as possible. Then, he began to compress the air with his chakra, splitting it into three seperate orbs.[30]
- He pressed down on the orbs of air with his chakra from all sides until he was satisfied. Then, he drew his head back... and then he whipped himself forward, exhaling. Three tiny orbs of spinning, compressed air rocket from his mouth. They fly a few feet at breakneck speeds, and then suddenly burst into three large bubbles; vacuums compressed into spheres.[31]
- They impact the side of the cliff simultaneously. There is a loud grinding sound as the compressed rotating winds ground three large, perfectly circular craters about three feet deep and 15 feet wide into the side of the rock. Igo grins, then turns to the group and looks between each of them. As he speaks, his eyes rest on Jai.[32]
- "Think you could give that one a try? I'll tell you the basics, since you didn't really get to see." Yogan, Igo says, "Okay then, Aurin. If you have wind release and feel like giving it a go. With Vacuum Spheres, I do it by doing the Bird, Ox and then Ram seals, and I take a deep breath, draw the air into my belly, and then compress it into three spheres. Then you launch it when it feels strong enough." [33]
- Yogan, Igo watched Aurin perform both techniques successfully, despite needing a lot of work on the sphere. He grinned and gave him a friendly knuckle bump on the arm. "No bad, mate!" He said, feeling his pride swell up. "We'll make a ninjutsu user out of you yet!" he said, smiling. [34]
- Then, he quirked a brow as he watched Jai perform his technique, and he smirked, clapping the lad on the shoulder. "Eh? Not bad, either, kid! I don't know that one!" he says. He replays the seals Jai had performed in his head. There were five of them. Igo took a deep breath, and then closed his eyes for a moment.[35]
- When he opened them, he brought his hands together before his chest. He slowly performed the same five hand seals, in the same sequence he'd watched Jai perform. Then, he'd will his chakra into the palms of his hands and hold it there, compressing it until he felt like a balloon might explode in his hands.[36]
- When he released the technique, a steady blast of air would launch from his hands. It upturned grass and shrubbery from the dirt and sent it flying back at the cliff wall. He'd grin and turn to Jai. "Pretty nifty, mate." he says.[37]
- nodded, watching him carefully. His brows raised at Aurin's mastery of the legendary executioner's blade. He watched it flit back and forth as if it were not heavier than his own tanto. "Hmm.." he hummed to himself, rubbing at his chin.[38]
- "Alright, then." He draws the rusted short blade from its scabbard and tosses the cloth aside. Then, he takes a deep breath. He holds the blade before him in a -very- unpracticed kendo stance. After a long moment, he finally bursts into motion.[39]
- Aiming at an imaginary enemy, he draws the blade across his front, once to his left, then to his right. The slices are sloppy and unsteady, but his blade cuts through the air all the same. Then, he draws it down diagonlly down and across, and then once more in the opposite direction.[40]
- Finally, he ends with a slice up the middle of his ghostly foe. When he finishes, he looks to Aurin and quirks a brow, grinning sheepishly. "How'd I do?" he asks, interested to see if he still had it. He'd been planning on taking up swordplay again.[41]
- He looks to Jai with a grin, nodding to him and giving him a thumbs up.
- "Right on the money, mate."
- grinned, nodding. He looked down at his old blade. The metal of the blade was brittle now, and it wouldn't do much good in a fight anymore, but its familiar weight was nice. He hefted it a few times, nodding to himself once more, then he looked to Aurin.[42]
- First, he listened as the ex-kiri slave explained the next move. 'Heavier swords?' he wondered to himself. For a moment, he considered his plan again. He wasn't sure if he wanted to go with larger blades, or if he wanted to take a more traditional route.[43]
- Igo switched hands, taking the hilt of his tanto in his left hand. He stared down at the palm of his right. The Marks of Zinkai and Solomon showed clear as the day he'd got them 4 years ago. He clenched the hand into a tight fist and closed his eyes, hearing the words of Solomon echo in his thoughts. They brought with them a familiar comfort.[44]
- He looked up at Aurin once again. He took his sword in his main hand once more and took a deep breath. He reviewed the motions Aurin had gone through in his mind. Then, he fell back into his rusty kendo stance. A short moment passed, and then he burst into motion.[45]
- He drew his shortsword up and swung it across, hard and fast. The blade whistled as it cut through the air. It wasn't as steady, nor did it carry with it as much oomph as Aurin's attack had; how could a rusty blade compare to an immortal sword of legend? Still, the cut felt satisfying.[46]
- He let his blade fall to his side. He looked over at Aurin and quirked a brow. "Wasn't as pretty as yours, but I'd say it was servicable, for such a puny little blade, eh?" he asks, grinning.[47]
- grins, chuckling. He'd sheathe his blade and then walk over to help Jai up, brushing his back off. "Eh, don't sweat it too much. That's a pretty advanced technique." He says. Once Jai was paying attention again, he'd motion for him to watch.[48]
- "Here's a basic wind style that's actually pretty useful. Came up with it myself. It's called Hurricane's Focus!" Igo's hands came together and he performed the ram seal. Like before when he'd performed the Divine Wind technique, blasts of strong wind would begin to whip and tear at his surroundings. Only this time, Jai wouldn't feel a wall of air pushing him back.[49]
- Adversely, the wind seemed to center itself on Igo. After a few seconds, it grew so strong it was almost impossible to hear anything except for the roar of the wind in your ears. Then, all at once, the windstorm /entered/ Igo's body. Everything became calm as the wind died down and disappeared.[50]
