  7. Errai is viciously pragmatic and single-minded, working without distraction until his goals are achieved. His apocalyptic corona of Exaltation-stoked light, flame and prowess wears down resistance, the unstoppable force and eternal supernova of his twin fetiches constantly generating some new artifact or sorcery. Though the August Star Imperator is steadfast in his goals, he is mercurial in his character, driven to adopt whatever form is necessary for victory. There are no depths to which he will not sink, no lines he will not cross in pursuit of his aims and to protect those who shelter beneath his radiance. In this sense he is self-sacrificing, determining the fittest option through competition, abandoning weakness in his pursuit of ruthless efficiency. The Shepherd of Epochs thrives in the pursuit of perfection, the fierce heat of his crusade adorning his allies and blinding his foes.

This Charm can be applied to any roll intended to harm an enemy weakpoint, enforcing the absoluteness of the Infernal's way of being, the long-term progress of strategems, designs or created resources in accord with the rest of the Excellency, and ameliorating suffering. Errai favours precision strikes that leave only scorched earth and cripple any response, and shows no mercy in its plans; as such, leniency or hesitation are impermissible-whether to parlay with a wartime rival without meaningfully working to enact their total surrender, or to speak/act against one's own way of being. Conversely, Errai cannot apply this Excellency towards acts with a deceptive character or intentional sabotage of others-though nothing prevents a genuinely grateful beneficiary from swearing their loyalty regardless. Attempts to seek vengeance can always be enhanced, allowing the Infernal to doom any further assault on the flock he holds dear. The winner writes history, and so long as he does not admit defeat, his enemies will never be victorious.

This benefit is not cumulative with other effects that reduce target number. The Shaping effect of this Charm warps reality as a whole rather than any individual target; the improved Excellency use does not itself become a Shaping effect. Devil-Tigers with Essence 7+ no longer need to spend Willpower to benefit from this Charm; such characters automatically drop the target number of rolled actions to 6 whenever they use First Garlock Excellency

Each iteration of Effortless (Deva-Tiger) Dominance triggers whenever the Infernal activates its prerequisite, cumulatively reducing the subsequent cost to do so in the scene by one mote, to a minimum cost of zero motes.

If the Infernal also knows the appropriate Effortless (Deva-Tiger) Dominance, he can choose whether to pay the full cost of the Excellency to wield it innately or use it as a Charm to enjoy the cost reduction. The same rules apply if any other effects reduce the Excellency’s cost.

Sorcery is this power, filtered down through fractured glimpses of understanding that cannot begin to describe the intricate elegance of the universe. To be a sorcerer is to be mad with jagged shards of cosmic awareness and with will and might enough to impose that madness on the world.

  62. The Titan Messiah's sorcery is an endless font of creation imbued upon a finite world. Spells that invoke the refining and purifying properties of light cost 10 motes and 1 willpower less (min. 5 motes, 1 willpower). The same discount applies to summoning or creating beings associated with flame or light. Additionally, spells which inflict damage through these mediums increase their base damage by half again before attack successes factor in. Examples of valid spells include Internal Flame, Flight of the Brilliant Raptor, The Ravenous Fire, Eternal Crystalline Encasement, God-Forged Champion of War, Hidden Judges of the Secret Flame (which, like all other summons, would benefit from both effects), Magma Kraken, Atrocious Fire Transformation, Chariot of the Blazing Sun, Cleansing Solar Flames, Incantation of the Invincible Army, Light of Solar Cleansing, Solar Sanctuary and Total Annihilation. Errai does not abhor darkness, but considers it inherently fickle; thus Emerald and Sapphire Circle spells whose primary effect is to dampen light or manipulate shadow cost an additional point of willpower to cast. Additionally, his absolute disgust for the Unconquered Sun forbids the casting of spells which incorporate the innovation of Holy; to a lesser extent, he permits his works to shine only by the light of his own soul. This may be bypassed through warping the spell in such a way to provide an alternate, commensurate benefit but cannot be cast as they are.

If he lacks an appropriate driving goal, this charm is rendered inactive as anything except a prerequisite.

The Exalt's anima flares to its' highest level-and then permeates the land before him, imposing his blinding presence upon the world. Heatless white flames line it, splitting lesser light like a prism. As a shaping effect, the Exalt's social attacks ignore all environmental penalties; so long as he can perceive his target, he may speak as if he were standing right next to them, whether he wishes to speak to someone swimming under a waterfall or hiding in their home. Should they reply, he hears them in the same way so long as he maintains the Essence commited to this Charm. At Essence 3, this Charm automatically upgrades to ignore internal penalties as well such as being deaf or not physically having ears, the Exalt's pulsating glory broadcasting pure meaning through his words.

This Charm allows the Exalt to use Performance, Socialise and any other relevant attributes to perform an action upon an object which would otherwise require a specific attribute. As a Shaping effect, the object itself attempts to obey the Exalt to the best of it's ability; the Storyteller remains the final arbiter as to what penalties it may encounter while doing so, bearing in mind the Exalt exerts no external force upon his loyal subject during the process, that all actions are performed with the Exalt's relevant dicepool and that larger objects will naturally take greater effort to meaningfully affect.

  130. An adequate ruler must speak with utmost confidence. But the ideal universal ruler learns to listen, as well. This Charm enhances the Exalt's capacity to interact with his worshippers. An Exalt with this charm adds his Valor and Compassion to all mote and Willpower awards provided by his cult, and may treat prayer as a good night's sleep for the purposes of Exalted healing, regaining Willpower and recovering from internal penalties. A hundred unenlightened mortals' or one Essence user's 10 minutes of prayer equates an hour of sleep.

This Charm may be activated only under the open sky, unless the Deva-Tiger is standing on a manse or demesne aspected towards himself. When he speaks, the world responds to his voice: Clouds ape his likeness, mountains radiate aurorae and the tides move in response to his words. With an exercise of will, these omens can even be controlled in a crude fashion; the Exalt may impose, increase or remove an external penalty equal to the stunt's value when applied to this Charm to any target he can perceive with it.

The Sun's Chosen rightly quaver at the memory of their patron's submission. With a touch, the Exalt puts a Solar Exalt in her place. The Solar gains the effect of The Curse of the Whipped Dog limit break. This unnatural mental influence remains in effect until five Willpower is spent at one time to remove it. Beings of a similar scope and potential as the Solar Exalted may become valid targets for this charm; at the ST's discretion this may merit a repurchase due to their unique nations.

A repurchase at Essence 3 allows the Exalt to refine his assertion of authority over the sun, by choosing to inflict the Heart of Tears, Compassionate Martyrdom, Overindulgence or Red Rage of Compassion Limit Breaks instead. While Errai's rage burns brightest for the Once-Guarding Star, repurchases at Essence 4 enable the Shepherd to broaden their capacity to restrain heroes to Sidereal and Lunar Exalted, and beings of a similar level. A final repurchase at Essence 5 renders Dragonblooded, Heroic Mortals and other humble yet determined heroes for the Shepherd's judgement.

While the target retains enough independence to concoct creative ways to prove their loyalty harming the Shepherd-even by inaction-becomes an Unacceptable Order on the level of suicide.

Each successful activation of this Charm's prerequisite is treated as a scene building an appropriate intimacy of weakness in the Solar, depending on the exact nature of how Solar Taming Leash was applied. A Solar anonymously groped may cultivate an intimacy of existential dread (responsibility). A Solar inflicted with the Charm after a heated rivalry may gain an intimacy of submissive devotion (the Exalt). Once this intimacy is created, social attacks made by the Exalt in person that exploit this intimacy are automatically considered unnatural, undodgeable mental influence, and can include Unacceptable Orders to the Solar. Worse, any of the Solar's Charms which have the Holy keyword have that keyword automatically fail to apply when used in deliberate opposition against the Exalt

Through their light, the Deva-Tiger perceives the universe as a conceptually harmonic cascade of essence and energy motes highlighted by Old Realm sigils that further magnify his gaze and draw attention to things he prioritises. While this charm is active, the Exalt gains the following benefits:

  187. -The brilliance of the Exalt transmits knowledge beyond mortal grasp. He adds (Essence) in successes to intuit knowledge of a subject's motivation and it's context.
  188. -The Deva-Tiger's nascent omniscience permeates his surrounding. He no longer suffers penalties related to physiologically restricted field of vision, for example making an Awareness check to read a sign behind his head.
  189. -The dance of matter ceases to impede his vigil. The Deva-Tiger automatically succeeds Notice Details rolls impeded by mundane phenomena such as a densely written text, a crowd or thick fog. Additionally, the Infernal is perfectly immune to effects that would blind him. Projectiles and curses alike find no purchase in his shining eye sockets, only light and air.

The Deva-Tiger may enhance the impact of his normal action range with plumes of white smokeless flame, exerting force and velocity equal to his own current velocity, and a range equal to (Willpower+Presence+highest Virtue). Obvious prismatic solar flares and wafting emanations from his anima intuitively, grasping the essence-patterns recorded in the Deva-Tiger's body and sometimes leaving afterimages of the physical actions intended. This Charm adds Willpower to the Deva-Tiger's Dexterity and Essence to his strength. It uses the normal associated abilities for a given feat, but adds Integrity to all rolls. Lightning Anima Impact can sear perceived incorporeal objects and beings.

The heat of the flames carries with it a perpetual environmental hazard equal to the Silent Wind of Adorjan, thus realistically the Deva-Tiger is unlikely to use this charm for purposes other than combat or certain forms of craft. In addition it adds (Essence) aggravated damage to all such actions, and may deflect projectiles and weaken blows with a (Willpower+Integrity) roll. The forces thus unleashed are too unstable to maintain a clinch. Against the Enemies of the World, this charm becomes unblockable and undodgeable.

Invoking this power stokes the Deva-Tiger's anima to a fever pitch with righteous outrage, allowing him to use this charm as an innate power which does not count as charm activating for the rest of the scene.

This charm enhances it's prerequisite, empowering the Deva-Tiger to turn the force of his attention into an all-too-literal extension of his surroundings. All nearby sapient beings in the Deva-Tiger's standard range of vision experience heat akin to the midday summer sun and instinctively knows an ineffable and holy force has turned it's mind to them, but nothing else, while artifacts hum with purpose. All Stealth effects, deception effects and concealment effects-natural and unnatural-are nullified by a bright pulse of light emanating from the Deva-Tiger. This includes invisibility, disguises augmented by Lunar shapeshiftig or Sidereal astrology, and Compulsion or Illusion effects. If another charm contests this charm's effects, All-Seeing Immanence Vigil adds twice the Deva-Tiger's Essence in automatic successes to the opposed roll to maintain it's effects. This charm is considered a defense when used to prevent a surprise or social attack.

  227. The Titan Messiah often speaks softly, but the destructive force encoded into his soul roars like thunder when his flock is threatened. Adding one or more motes to the cost of Soul Harrowing Sunrise cause his anima to erupt to the bonfire level. A number of Old Realm sigils from the Deva-Tiger's name equal to the motes spent on this charm endure, each erupting as a concussive burst of Deva-Tiger Essence resembling thunderbolts of white-hot molten metal and fractal flame. This grants him the ability to make a number of attacks equal to the motes spent with his soul arsenal using the traits below, which can be individually directed at a single or multiple targets at the Deva-Tiger's discretion. So mighty are the forces unleashed that the attack halves any DV applied against it, and ignores any cover less than 100%.

Against them the Deva-Tiger gains +4 DV and MDV against all attacks backed by their magic, and successfully striking forces a roll for each beneficial charm or sorcerous effect affecting the target. Whenever levels of damage are dealt by either, cracks erupt emanating the Warlock's anima, emanating like a spray of burning blood. Upon death, shafts of light cut through the target as if they were fading mist-the shining white beams erasing the pattern of their existence from Samsara itself. For the rest of the scene the semi-tangible manifestation of the Warlock's judgement imposes a -1 external penalty on all attacks directed at him, raises his Parry DV by 2 and lowers the parry DV by the same amount of those within range of melee combat.

It can explicitly slay the Neverborn and other beings with immortality on the level of a Primordial-though Errai prefers to spare such beings from such a fate with other charms, once he has committed to annihilation his will is absolute. If for any reason a being continues to exist in some fashion, such as by becoming a Neverborn, this Charm adds (Essence) in successes to a perfect unblockable and undodgeable effect to annihiliate them completely, the target's remains reverbating with thunderclaps and celestial flame as the inevitability of their defeat resonates them apart into a shower of firefly-like motes.

If used as a locale to bring peace to the dearly departed or to take actions counteracting the legacy of the slain being, bonus dice from relevant stunts are converted into automatic successes. Additionally, the bleak desolation automatically provokes a (Charisma+Presence+Conviction) social attack towards forgetting the slain entity every action spent in it, rewarding victims by granting an extra die bonus to regain willpower when resting upon it. Such is the methodical absolution of Errai that he considers the identities of his opponents part of their execution.

Beneath his dogmatic seemings however, lies a brutally strategic mind studying the closest links to Nirguna in order to reap power from breaking the world. This charm enhances it's prerequisite by opening new avenues of attack for it, and can be purchased once per Virtue rated 5+. It is not contingent on sufficient Virtue ratings in the future, as high Virtue is required only to open the initial metaphysical channels through which the Exalt learns to winnow miraculous power from the framework of relationships in the worl.

Additionally, the Exalt must bind one Virtue to an Intimacy he holds for it to function, as this charm draws power from the conflux of his interest with the constants that underpin existence as understood by the Primordials. Henceforth the Exalt treats pursuing and denying the Intimacy as he would spend Willpower to resist the urge of an extreme Virtue. Once per day at sunrise, he may perform an action involving one or more of those intimacies which if successful regains a Virtue channel for each Virtue that can exceed their usual limit. Finally, the Exalt may use Virtue channels to enhance a roll directly related to any of the bound intimacies even if the Virtue would normally be inapplicable to it, such as using temperance to soothe a frightened child.

Conceptualising this, she stokes the blazing essence within her into a means of counting coup. When the Deva-Tiger attunes to an artifact, manse or other essence-receiving recepticle belonging to another he succeeds by a threshold of (Compassion) automatic successes and may invoke this Charm's prerequisite. It can strike the owner at any range within the same plane of existence, becoming unblockable and undodgeable. At E7 even this limitation disappears.

The realisation of this universal truth unfurls metaphysical tendrils of living lightning from the Exalt's brow. Slaying opponents with this charm's prerequisite causes the ambient area to become a one-way permanent mystic link the Exalt may target with all her knowledge of sorcery. The Exalt cannot be targetted through the mystic link as a perfect effect, and to the extent it matters applies (Essence) successes against any effect that would contest this one.

Apart from the usual effects, the attacker loses an additional number of motes equal to their charm or combo.

This is treated as (Essence) botches as if a broken Eclipse oath leveled misfortune against the target.

Ensconced in a chrysalis of immortality, the fiery zeal of the fallen titans' champion inculcates within himself a spiritual purity that will sunder their designs and leave the chastened gods not just humbled-but redundant.

As far as the anima can be witnessed, immaculate white light permeates with the Warlock's as it's epicenter-more translucent silhouette and movement afterimage than flesh and blood, the Shepherd's own declaration to protect and destroy more substantial than his crude form. This light is considered the Shepherd's own for the purpose of all Charms with the Telos keyword, allowing him to freely unleash devastating Aggravated damage attacks with Sanctioned Action Stance among other uses.

Sunburst Guardian Shintai explicitly avoids the usual training times for such charms, and under no circumstances incurs XP debt. As usual however, the scope of charms that may be gained must be resonant with the First Errai Excellency.

  291. -All effects, Shaping or otherwise, which would transform the Shepherd's soul, identity or Essence use becomes obvious. Creative shaping of his body may still bypass this protection by reifying the Shepherd in the image of his identity, but only ever in accordance with the First Errai Excellency. In that regard, Errai plots his to avenge his downfall before even striving for victory by permitting all but the most cunning of his opponents to change him only in ways that improve his being. He may reflexively reject any unwanted changes, even while unconscious or otherwise inactive.

For the duration of the effect, the Shepherd is aware of the exact position of anyone standing in the light of Sunburst Guardian Shintai, and may strike any foe or otherwise perform his mundane range of interactions at any distance so long as he is near enough to radiate upon his target. He may also dodge or parry even if it is not physically possible to do so, such is while standing still or against magical attacks-wavering between afterimages left by his movements. The Shepherd may attack as if he stood right beside them and pick any angle, making cover impossible. When a character first steps into the light the Shepherd is made aware, and may make an immediate unexpected reflexive attack against that character.

  295. -Glyphs and pictograms foretelling the glories the Shepherd will visit upon Creation shed from him as an afterimage, a manifestation of him literally creating his own destiny. His very attention, will and movements leave all opposition as chaff for the flame of his spirit. This charm imposes a -1 external penalty upon all attacks made against the Shepherd, who is considered to always enjoy 100% cover with no penalty to his mobility or capacity for interaction. At E5, this automatically upgrades to an external penalty of Essence/2, rounding up.

  297. -Those who look upon the Exalt love him, and despair. An all-conquering, perfect majesty emanates from the Shepherd's shining spirit. Each long tick spent within the light subjects all valid targets (that is, those with any of the normal human senses, the capacity to sense Essence flows or most inhuman ones) to a social attack using a pool of (Presence + Appearance + Essence) that becomes unnatural and unexpected, building an Intimacy of worshipful euphoria. Successfully instilling such an Intimacy makes the Shepherd automatically aware of this fact. In addition to the standard benefits, such disciples treat bathing in the Shepherd’s light as rest, nourishment and medical treatment for all purposes, including regaining willpower and healing. This explicitly permits such disciples to survive in normally hazardous terrain. While within it by worshipping or labouring on behalf of a command related to their binding can ameliorate Limit, with one point of Limit reduced for each hour of worship or labour.

  299. -As long as this Shintai is active he is considered to benefit from Hand of Destiny as an innate power, with his body, Essence and legend becoming instruments for his decision to work a specific end upon Creation. He retains the perfect, unconscious instinct for actions that accelerate success and unconsciously takes steps towards the larger goal, and applies (Essence) automatic successes in a roll-off against any conflicting force. Once this goal is achieved, he may reflexively choose a new one as an innate power for free.

Henceforth, the Shepherd is simultaneously material and dematerialized, allowing him to perceive and physically interact with beings and objects in either state as though he shared that state. He can walk through sanctum entrances like a dematerialized being but may ignore them as a materialized being. All the results of his actions likewise benefit from this unique nature. If another effect defines the character’s state as exclusively material or incorporeal, he may ignore that effect at will to exist between states. He requires neither sustenance, nor air, nor sleep and becomes immune to all non-magical diseases.

When Creation witnessed the bolt of killing light that forever rent it into the Shattered Annex, one thing about the cataclysm shocked many on a fundamental level: It happened faster than light itself. Such is the memory of Errai's judgement that prayers are directed to him ahead of time for fear of his punishment coming before his wrath. Upon activating this charm, the Shepherd's body sublimes into a supercharged concussive bolt of blinding Essence. His veins are scintillating streaks of living lightning, his breath molten plasma, his flesh light made liquid-and he moves too swiftly for most to gainsay him. Upon activating this charm the Shepherd may travel up to (Total Virtues x 20) yards for three motes, (Total Virtues x 40) yards for four motes, (Total Virtues x 80) yards for six motes, (Total Virtues X 120) yards for nine motes and up to (Total Virtues) miles by paying twelve motes and one Willpower.

  315. Though the Shepherd arrives at notionally instaneous speeds, he physically progresses in a cataclysmic burst of lightning-like fury. He may travel in any direction in this manner, allowing his final destination to take place midair, under water or even theoretically in extreme terrain such as magma. The Shepherd internalises the principles of motions, then surpasses them. The Shepherd is considered to be moving at infinite speed and indestructible on the level of adamant for the purposes of any obstacles, and is also automatically faster than anything he pursues or that is following him. Any force that contests either of these effects is contested by (Essence + Total Virtues) automatic successes, felt as ominous vibrations emanating from the Shepherd himself as his Essence strains against the limits of speed. The shinmaic substrate-searing trail left by this passage is an (Essence)A/action environmental hazard with (Essence)L trauma that lasts for (Essence) minutes, rivalling and likely surpassing the Silent Wind of Malfeas. Upon arrival, the Shepherd immediately deals damage equivalent to an application of Heaven Thunder Hammer supplemented by Nine Aeons Thew with an automatic (Total Virtues) automatic successes. One tick after, the Shepherd's anima immediately erupts into a thunderous blast of pure force that multiplies the damage and knockback of the first attack by (Essence), renders it piercing and Aggravated, and applies it to every other character apart from the charm user within (Essence x 50) yards. Nominally, this usually leaves a finely blasted crater where the Shepherd lands. Last but not least, (Essence) Charms relevant to motion or combat may be treated as being part of Thunderblast Assault Shintai's activation for the purposes of conflict resolution and combos.

  317. A repurchase enables the Exalt to more precisely channel his cosmic forces, to serve as all tools required for Ability-based actions (though not raw materials). When so enchanted, the Shepherd completes all Ability and Attribute-based actions in time-warpingly rapid speeds, dividing the time traken by (Essence). Each dot of Essence the Shepherd gains cumulatively divides the time taken for such acts. This charm is explicitly cumulative with other quickening effects, and can accelerate the casting of spells. This acceleration even applies to processes with fixed durations such as cooking, by chaneling volatile Essence into blinding bolts, alchemical cruicible glyphs and vortexes of warped forces that energise the materials to go beyond what reality would normally permit. The Shepherd works as if having access to a master's workshop, although if the Shepherd knows Unsurpassed Devil Craft the principles of this shintai enable him to repurchase that charm to upgrade it to a flawless workshop, then an ideal workshop, and afterwards further repurchases of Unsurpassed Devil Craft add specialities permanently which add (Essence) dice per roll. Even for activities beyond the remit of Craft, the Shepherd's precisely honed forces apply a similar amount of supernatural support for everything glassblowing to musical recital to lovemaking-and he may buy "specialities" for those too. At Essence 6, dice added in this manner becomes successes.

  319. A second repurchase enables the Shepherd to both fully internalise the principles of motion, then surpass them. The charm lasts for an entire scene and while he is considered to have paid the price for his explosive transit, he need not immediately perform it-and he may continue to move in the default manner as much as he wishes as well as in the more subtle alternative described below. A sheen of volatile energies girds his being. All of the character's movement rates are multiplied by (Essence), so long as he moves under his own power. When taking a Move, Dash or Jump action he vanishes into a blur that is impossible to even target without a reflexive (Perception + Awareness) roll against a difficulty of (Essence), while still retaining the preconditionins preserving his passage described above, and reappears at his destination successfully as long as no barrier impedes his progress. As mentioned earlier, the Shepherd may continue moving in any direction-flying or surging through the water with the same speed with which he would run.

  321. A third repurchase allows the Shepherd to be truly everywhere and nowhere at once for it's duration. Moving at impossible speeds, he becomes a battle group of Size (Essence), Magnitude (Total Virtues) and retains his normal combat pool in lieu of Drill of Might. Regardless of heavy armour or other ongoing effects the Shepherd's volatile energy form can continue functioning as such a battle group with perfect Morale, though as they are mere echoes of his own motion they cannot benefit from most War charm enhancements from external sources-and are considered to be saturated with the environmental effect listed above. When the Shepherd's Magnitude track fills up with damage and he loses a point of Size, instead of a rout check he is subject to a difficulty 3 Stamina + Athletics roll to maintain the charm.

  323. A fourth repurchase makes the Shepherd's acceleration sovereign to the limits of the world. The Shepherd may perform extremely wide scale, unrealistic feats of motion with this travel option; he gains (Total Virtues) successes on each method of motion, which may be transfered to other activities as mentioned by the second repurchase. It is at this level that it becomes feasible to leap from the Blessed Isle to Silver Chair when it's a full moon, jump to the bottom of the ocean or leap across the Elemental Pole of Earth. Such is the Shepherd's speed that he may even retroactively dodge damage received. By remaining still for one long tick and rolling (Dexterity + Dodge) unmodified by Charms, the Shepherd may convert successes into healed 0, -1 and -2 health levels. At E7 even aggravated damage may be dodged in this manner.

  325. At Essence 5 this Charm automatically upgrades to count as an innate ability. The Shepherd must still spend Essence, but the Charm is not considered Charm activation for the purposes of combos and other mystical effects. By committing 12 motes to the charm, it's duration becomes indefinite.

In this manner can he dip in and out of the Labyrinth, pass through Elsewhere and even test himself against the limits set by Cecelyne for travel across her borders. As the storm of motion the Shepherd becomes strains at the gradient between Is and Should, when using the default method of travel he may also split his self into (Essence X Total Virtues) independent streaks of Essence each moving without penalty to coordination should he wish to perform multiple actions, explore different locations or attack different opponents-and choose which destination he rematerialises at.
