Sarradian lore

This is a story passed down to me from my mother, and her mother before her.

In the beginning, when the world was new, humanity was innocent:  Like babes in the wood, with no-one to guide them to their greater potential.

The first elemental was created by the angel Vidrio. He was named Hajara. Formed from Eternia itself, he was as solid as a mountain, with eyes like fire, but with a soothing temperment, given the waters of the oasis fuelling him. He was created as a bridge between humanity and the elements which make up our world.

Everyone knows that Hajara was peaceful and wise and kind and generous. But what many stories neglect to mention is how humanity came to find him beautiful.

The elements themselves after all, are each beautiful in the perfect way they are part of creation's song. If we imagine the lifestream as a beam of light, the various elements are what you get when you intercept them with a prism.

A hateful person cannot see beauty, but humanity then had not yet learnt to hate.

And so it was humanity's innate capacity for love, for forming relationships and forging connections, that saw Hajara's human student, Salwa, taking the elemental as her husband, and baring him four children.

And these were the first Sarradians.

Fluvial, La'Heba, Hay-sun and Viento. Water, fire, earth and wind, respectively. Wise, just, and merciful, our ancestors never lost hope, and never lost sight of the love in their hearts.

Everyone knows that Sarradians have the power of the elements running through them, but few understand that it is love which created all of us, and that it is love which should drive us to act.
