  1. Elawyn spent her early years growing up in her tribe's homeland of the Ironwood forest. Her father Pernelis Elensar was the captain of the Duskwatchers, and her mother Morwen Elensar was a fletcher. As soon as Elawyn was old enough to wield a bow her father began training her to become a Duskwatcher to follow in his steps, and perhaps one day succeed him as captain. She was taught how to hunt, track, trap, shoot, climb, stay hidden, and fight so that she could help to protect and watch over the forest alongside the other Duskwatchers. Elawyn never had any problems with her father's plans, she was proud to one day be one of the Duskwatchers guarding her homeland from outsiders and invaders. However that changed when her family was marked as exiles and forced out of their homeland to become one of the very outsiders she was trained to keep out. It started when Elawyn was 66, just 30 years from becoming considered an adult and named a Duskwatcher, and she was on a hunt when she heard the cries of a baby. She investigated further and found the baby lying on the bank of a blood-soaked creek, bathed in blood with a small young red wolf pup curled up next to it. A short distance away was a dead female halfling with her throat ripped out, who seemed to have not put up much of a fight. Just a short distance away in the creek was the source of the bloody water: a male halfling lying beneath a large red wolf with a knife in it's throat. That day Elawyn found two tragedies of the same kind, and one of them was going to cost her family their home. She figured the halflings must have passed into the wolf's territory and were taken by surprise when the female was quickly killed and the male fought the wolf until both ended up dead in the creek. Elawyn saw the baby and pup as both victims and innocents of an unfortunate tragedy. So Elawyn buried the halflings, and the wolf then took both the baby and the pup home to her parents to figure out what to do. She knew outsiders were strictly forbidden, and so she had to sneak the baby into her home and stay clear of known watcher posts in the forest. Her parents decided they would shelter the baby because they couldn't just leave the baby in the wild, and if they brought the baby to the council then it would end badly for the child. Her parents weren't willing to care for the pup, but Elawyn felt badly and decided to raise it herself and named him Dusk. The baby was named Ileia and kept hidden in her parent's home and raised as one of their own. It didn't take long for them to be caught. Just 3 years later it was discovered the Elensar family was harbouring an outsider child and raising her, which the council didn't take kindly. The Elensar family was marked permanently as exiles, dishonored, and forced from the forest at the threat of execution otherwise and never allowed to return or be killed. The family left with what belongings they could carry and their small fortune, which they used to purchase a farmstead outside of a human and halfling village. The family lived there for quite some time raising Ileia, however Elawyn left shortly after for 10 years out of frustration and anger. She spent those 10 years trying to find her lot in life now that she was starting all over. After 2 years she joined a thieves guild called Merric's Rounders that specialized in being burglars that mostly robbed homes and small businesses. She spent the next 7 years with them but after she collected a small fortune and got tired of being a glorified thief she left them to find somewhere else to go. After another year on the road she returned home but didn't share with her sister or parents what she spent those 10 years doing except that she travelled. She spent the next 8 years at her parents farm working the land, hunting, and helping to raise her adopted sister. When Ileia was older she was interested in magic and Elawyn used much of her earnings as a burglar to pay her sister's apprenticeship when she was old enough to start learning. After those 8 years, when Ileia was 18 and Elawyn was 84, they set out into the world together as adventurers. A year later they now find themselves on the Golden Coast far from home...
