  1. Alright, I am going to be overly critical here, so bear with me.
  2.
  3. The intro scene seemed somewhat pointless: Samus was winking at me the entire time, and nothing storywise changes of note, except for the small blurb that explains that Ceres is skipped. So, while removing ceres does give the hack a point, the remaining intro scene is a small negative. Half a point so far, I guess.

  5. Upon exiting the ship, I can notice that nearly, if not all of the sprite work has been completely redone. +10 right here, though perhaps I should be granting it more points, due to the sheer amount of effort that went into this change.
  6. Morphball and the First Missiles go as they typically do in Super Metroid, though the minor changes to the enviornment are pretty nice. However, upon heading to the right after grabbing missiles, I discover a spike in difficulty: literally, the spikes are what cause the difficulty, since taking damage from them twice will kill you, and cause you to restart all the way back at the gunship. Fast Forward is used at this point to make my way back to morph ball and first missile, before I make a save state right outside of said room. It is a good way to test the player's knowledge of the backflip, but this is a large enough spike in difficulty, especially near the start of the hack, that I have to take off a point. 9.5, so far.

  8. Anyway, Bombs are reasonably challenging to get, but I am not killed in the process. It seems as if the overall health of the Torizo was increased, but its not to an absurd amount. I figure this gets a point. After acquiring bombs, and making my way back to Green Brinstar, I notice that there are a few fake item orbs held by the background Chozo Statues. They don't glow unlike actual item pickups, but its still something that makes me question it, so this brings the score back to an even 10. I get the charge beam, save once more, and then face Spore Spawn: I die to them once, due to the nature of the water in the room throwing things off for me. However, since this was not a cheap death, and the fact that adding slowly lowering water to the room was a very creative choice, this gets a point.
  9.
  10. Thus far, this hack has gotten 11 points, but I am uncertain as to how to translate that into a score out of 5. I'll have to play some more, continue to see what the hack does right, and what it doesn't, in order to determine what the final point count should be, and then translate that into a score out of 5.
