Producida por Shaftesbury Films, The Listener, es una serie dramática, con tintes de intriga y sobrenaturales, compuesta por 13 episodios de una hora de duración y protagonizada por joven paramédico que tiene la extraordinaria habilidad de escuchar los pensamientos de la gente, un don que podrá ser utilizado para resolver casos criminales.

The Listener gira en torno a Toby Logan (Craig Olejnik, The Timekeeper), un paramédico de 25 años que guarda un gran secreto: tiene la habilidad telepática de poder escuchar los pensamientos de los que le rodean. Hasta ahora, Toby ha mantenido oculto su don, explorando sus posibilidades sólo con la complicidad de su mentor y confidente, el doctor Ray Mercer , (Colm Feore, El intercambio).

La serie sigue al protagonista en su trabajo diario en las calles de Toronto, junto a su compañero en la ambulancia Osman "Oz" Bey (Ennis Esmer, Young People Fucking), cuyo sentido del humor será primordial para apoyar a Toby, quien ve su vida profesional cada vez más cuestionada.

En la trama de la serie y en la vida del protagonista serán también fundamentales la presencia de la detective Charlie Marks (Lisa Marcos, Diary of a Mad Black Woman) y de la doctora y ex novia de Toby Olivia Fawcett (Mylène Dinh-Robic, Da Vinci’s City Hall), a través de las que descubrirá cómo sus poderes pueden ser una tabla de salvación para los demás y para sí mismo.
