1) Scientists and engineers are unlikely to make major breakthroughs in the nearest future.
In my opinion, scientists are able to make major breakthoughs in the nearest future. Firstly, these days scientists are searching for medicines for fatal diseases, cancer, AIDS etc. And they have some progress. It's believably, that they would be able to make breakthoughs in these directions. Secondly, the next breakthrough will involve the combination of the Internet of Things with other leading technologies like AI and blockchain. Together, these technologies will create transformational value, first in the industrial sector, and then in the consumer market. The results will include improved business decision-making and a better quality of life at work and home. Nevertheless, it's impossible to look into the future, but we may make guesses. And so I think that great discoveries are possible in the nearest future due to various posibilities.

4) An asteroid collision is a major threat to life on Earth.
In my opinion, an asteroid collision is a major threat to life on Earth. Several cases in the past show are that it may be really dangerous. Firstly, many scientists believe that the extinction of the dinosaurs and other animals approximately 65 million years ago was a result of collision with a huge asteroid. Secondly, it is the impact of the Tunguska meteorite about 100 years ago. It's influence such as air waves were detected all over the world. Moreover, this is the fact that a large number of large cosmic objects near Earth haven't been discovered yet. Nowadays researchers try to come up with some methods in order to prevent collision. However, they haven't made any realistic ways yet. In conclusion, asteroids impact may seriously damage our planet, collisions occur even now. And we can't be sure, that we may prevent fall.

7) Engineering is a male profession as men are better problem-solvers than women.
However engineering is considered to be a male profession, I believe that mens and womens are all suitable for this profession. According to studies, women have higher college graduation rates compared to men. But due to stereotypes, less women choose the way of an engineer. Moreover, a lot of women with engineering degrees don't pursue an engineering career after graduation or even leave the profession completely. And these facts strengthen the stereotypes that this profession is for male. But, of course, this significant and important profession requires different views on different aspects. Those women, who are appropriate for engineering, are able to provide other approach. Women's voices are essential to the problem-solving and innovation that is at the heart of engineering. In conclusion, I believe that females are neccesary in engineering and they may help in making breakthroughs in different areas.

9) Serendipitous discoveries are of significant value in the advancement of science.
In my opinion, serendipity is really important in advancement of science. We have a lot of examples in the history of science, when fortune helped in invention or breakthrough. For example, in 1928 Alexander Fleming accidentally discovered peniccilin. He was studying Staphylococcus, when one day he discovered mould, which as he understood, prevents the growth of bacteria. In the similar way Geran experimenter Wilhelm Rontgen discovered X-rays when tried sticking various objects in front of the radiation and saw the bones of his hand projected on a wall. Also microwave oven was too invented after Percy Spencer walked near a radar tube and noticed that his chocolate bar in his pocked melted. A huge amount of similar breakthroughs are observed through the past. And we can be sure, that similar cases will occur in the future, so serendipity is actually of significant value in the advancement of science.

+ More and more robots and automatical systems will make people unemployed, because they are more accurate, require less money and vacation. And also may work around the clock. It is significant for workers at factories, at manufacturing etc.
- There are a lot of jobs which require creative thinking. And mechanisms presently and in the near future will not be able to replace them.
