- A 5 star hotel with 5 star service
- Newly decorated hotel and rooms
- A tasteful and very classy hotel
- We had a corner suite with 2 balconies and views, not to be believed
- It felt like an apt
- (Even the bathroom was finely decorated-great towels, linens on beds and stunning curtains in room)
- Perfect location
- Staff was amazing and very friendly
- Luis was our manager and host at the front desk- he was of great help to all our travels about town and other cities
- His personality made it charming
- This hotel was ideally located to everything in Barcelona
- In the Gothic Quarter- the best location
- It had a 1920-1940's feel to the hotel
- It's housed in a Historical building
- Think Casablanca(the movie)
- Palm trees overlooking the courtyard with Gaudi's lamp posts
- Breakfast was a feast with everything you could ask for
- We had room service and felt like royalty
- You can have breakfast or lunch at their outdoor café but dinner on the rooftop at night was romantic
- They have a restaurant below street level, was so tastefully decorated
- Service was impeccable
- The family who owns the hotel owns a cheese company, serves their specialty cheeses (cheese plates that are a foodies dream) for breakfast, lunch or dinner
- Fabulous menu
- Iberian ham is on their menu, as is paella
- Delicious
- Breakfast was included with our hotel room but we ate some late lunches and several dinners there
- Stayed 7 nights
- We would go back again and again
- Great attention to detail
- A welcoming drink
- Fruit delivered to the room
- Breakfast in the room in desired
- Great food
- Complimentary mini-bar
- Well furnished room
- Recessed floor lighting
- High ceilings with exposed beams
- Comfortable bed and pillows
- Wonderful shower
- So, what's the catch
- Noise from the Placa Reial
- We were prepared with ear plugs, but this was not sufficient
- The Hotel DO is a beautiful hotel
- The lobby at first seems quite underwhelming, but then you realize the hotel has a lot more to offer than a lobby
- The room was so beautiful
- Straight out of a movie with the curtains flowing in the wind
- Juliette balcony and amazing bathroom
- Just incredible
- The restaurant was also fabulous with an incredible breakfast
- Usually I don't think the hotel breakfast is worth the money, but here, it definitely was
- The obvious downside is that it can get loud at night
- I had jet lag so I opened the window around 4AM, and no joke, there were about 1,000 people sitting in the plaza below
- Drinking and having a good time
- Which is great for them, but if that's not something you want in a hotel, then keep that in mind
- Hotel is in perfect location edge of gothic quarter where we walked for hours exploring the maze of small shops, bars and restaurants
- The Placa is surrounded by restaurants filled w people out eating and drinking until late
- We stayed 1 night after a cruise, and wish we had stayed 3 nights
- The Hotel DO is beautiful, staff very gracious
- We loved our high ceiling room with shuttered balcony
- Perfect spot and wonderful service
- The food was amazing as well
- The Do hotel was enjoyable and comfortable
- The service was particularly good and the staff was very welcoming
- The breakfasts in the hotel restaurant we to die for, with excellent croissants, chocolate filled croissants,
- , and a broad selection of dishes from the breakfast menu for a hearty and delicious breakfast
- For example fresh berries were available every day
- Our fiends loved the eggs Benedict
- We tried that same restaurant for lunch and dinner (once for each), and those meals did not compare well to the breakfasts or to other restaurants suggested by the staff of the restaurants (the other restaurants we excellent)
- Barcelona is a very interesting city with lots to see and great food
- However, Las Rambla, which is close to the Do is full of thieves and pickpockets
- Within two hours of checking into the Do, we had our ATM card stolen (with pin) while we were being "helped" by a friendly handsome fellow getting some Euros from the machine
- Don't ask how this happened (very skilled con-man), but be very careful on Las Rambla
- We were fortunate to have found this little gem of a hotel
- Just off Las Ramblas and a lively square but not noisy at all
- Booked one of the top floor suites with a balcony and I highly recommend it
- Beautiful hotel, wonderful staff and delicious food
- I'll definitely stay here again
- What a wonderful small hotel in a great location
- We could not recommend it more
- The room is very comfortable, clean, and looked out onto the Placa Reial
- The square is beautiful, large, very active, but when you close your windows you barely hear a sound
- The location is also walkable to almost everything you'd like to see in Barcelona
- The staff could not be more welcoming and helpful
- The free breakfast on the square is a wonderful experience
- We could not recommend this boutique hotel more highly
- Most amazing hotel i have been in my whole life
- Incredible service
- Felt like being in our when private villa
- can't wait to go back again
- Fantastic
- Gorgeous room, wonderful staff, great food
- Breakfast was anything and everything we wanted with no restrictions
- We loved our own private pool on our balcony overlooking the Plaza
- Beautiful boutique hotel with lovely surroundings and wonderful service
- Arthur in reception was helpful, professional & went above and beyond
- Olga brought us our breakfast with a smile and promptly
- The bartenders and front desk staff were accommodating and friendly
- Our room was well appointed and spacious
- This is a beautiful boutique hotel and has great staff and wonderful amenities
- The only downside is the outside noise on the square that keeps up all night
- Great service, breakfast & onion bread was very good
- Our complimentary treats & refreshments were much appreciated
- Loved everything about your hotel
- The breakfast in the morning was the crowning amenity
- Awesome stay at a great little hotels with the best vibe in Barcelona loved every second
- Very nice boutique hotel in the center of Barcelona
- Walking distance from basically everything that you will want to visit
- We were very happy with the hotel quality
- The staff were extra helpful and tried to make us feel home
- The breakfast was also very good
- The only problem was with the slow Wi-Fi and this is the reason we give it 4 stars and not 5
- It was actually so slow that it was practically unusable
- We had to go to the local Starbucks every evening to browse the Internet and plan our activities for the next day (places to visit, reservations, etc
- It would be great if we could do that from our room
- Checked in late coming from Paris
- We received a warm welcome with the staff giving attention to detail and making my wife and I feel at home
- Their service and attention was exceptional
- The room and hotel was beautifully decorated with a very nice restaurant attached
- Breakfast was well prepared each morning
- Very friendly, within easy reach of most places, comfortable rooms
- One of our best travel experiences ever
- The hotel staff were exceptional - as was the restaurant onsite, the location was perfect for sight seeing, eating, shopping - you name it
- Do youself a favor and stay in this beautiful botique hotel in the heart of everything
- It will be our go-to place when we come back
- Great location in the heart of Barcelona
- The staff spoke excellent English and were very accommodating to us as guests at their boutique hotel
- The kitchen or breakfast area was apparently having some work done, so the included breakfast served in the room, which did not have much of an area to eat, thus making it a bit awkward
- The restaurant was terrible and pricey( for our dinner
- ) The staff was very kind however
- They packed our diner and we gave it to the homeless men in front of the hotel
- good breakfasts
- lots of nice touches in room ,such as small sweets, cakes and fruit
- can be some noise from the square below in the night by people, but window shutters control most of this
- overall the attractive building and other good features outweigh this unless you are a very light sleeper
- Excelent staff, impeccable rooms, exceptional food
- The best
- What a lovely hotel, only 18 rooms and location is great, in the gothic quarter, next to La Ramblas
- Staff are really helpful and friendly and brought us little treats such as chocolates and fruit and biscuits
- Would recommend this hotel to anybody
- Situated right on The Ramblas and within a small square full of restaurants and bars that you would easily walk past
- The staff were great on arrival and our room ready 2 hours before it was due to be
- You really got the impression that they wanted you to enjoy your stay and that feeling continued over the weekend
- The room was spotless with lots of nice little touches by room service - chocolates / fruit /umbrella
- Restaurant - we only had breakfast so can't comment on the actual quality of the evening menu
- Their menu was a step above those in surrounding restaurants and the prices reflected that
- You can have a 3 course meal for two and bottle of wine in a nice restaurant for E60-70
- You are probably doubling that at the Hotel restaurant
- Bearing in mind there is famous farmers market about 200yds away where you can have a quick bite to eat from food prepared with the freshest produce and have a glass of wine for E10 that probably does explain why their restaurant was pretty much empty
- You don't want to be the only customer in an empty restaurant and at this time of year when your fighting for business a lower spec menu might drag people through the door
- exceptional
- A thoroughly enjoyable boutique hotel
- We were especially impressed with the food on the terrace, which was about the best we had the whole time in the city
- The tapas were inventive and consistently delicious
- More that once we chose to eat tapas at the hotel rather than go out since the flavors were so great
- Excellent location adjacent to Gothic Quarter and Las Ramblas
- Room was very comfortable, with modern bathroom and large window with French balcony
- Service is prompt and congenial
- The included breakfast is ordered from a menu, but there are many choices and you can eat as much as you like
- Taxi stand next to the hotel was convenient, and rides cost about half of what you would pay elsewhere, so you can skip the bus or subway
- The only drawback is the incessant noise from the Placa Reial until the early morning hours
- However, the windows block out nearly all of the noise
- Unlike some other hotels in the area, there are no musty odors or perfume smells, either in the hallways or room
- There are only a small number of rooms, so the hotel never feels crowded, though guests coming back from celebrating late at night can be unruly
- Otherwise, the stay was very relaxing and enjoyable
- The greeting we received and level of support and service was nice
- The hotel is located right off the Rambla and adjacent to the Plaza Real
- You're in the center of some action
- The room was very nicely appointed with a comfortable bed
- There was ample storage space
- The bathroom was large and appointed with Molton Brown products and featured both a rainshower and tub
- Everything about the room was luxurious
- great Tapas love sitting out in the courtyard
- Well appointed room, friendly staff, delicious full breakfast
- Great people watching at their restaurant in the place open all day into late in the evening
- Close to many of Barcelona's main attractions
- Incredible attention to detail
- Fantastic staff
- Delicious food
- If a hotel could be a 6 star hotel, this is it
- Amazing location in the heart beat of the city
- Walk to everything and the food is outstanding
- The staff is charming, and very responsive
- The rooms are beautiful and very comfortable
- Excellent location, great hotel with excellent restaurants and great rooftop bar
- Each day we came back to our hotel we found an afternoon treat of fruit in our room
- On my birthday, we found a nice card with a bottle of champagne
- The staff was friendly and very helpful with suggestions
- Best hotel I've ever stayed in
- The staff were extremly helpful and pleasant
- We were brought to our room by a bellhop who was extremely helpful and spent time explaining everything in the room
- All non-alcoholic drinks in the minibar were FREE (and there were tons to choose from)
- We received a nice welcome drink and fresh fruit was brought to our room (again, all complimentary)
- The decor was like a spa and we felt so relaxed
- Though the hotel is centrally located in a very busy and bustling plaza, the windows were soundproof and we slept soundly all night
- This place was absolutely perfect and well definitely stay here if ever back in Barcelona
- Just about perfect - only the lack of an exercise room (no space for it in the historic building) keeps this from being one of the best hotels anywhere
- This boutique hotel lived up to its name in every way
- Every aspect of our stay was amazing and memorable
- We celebrated our 11th anniversary at the DO and the staff was incredible
- They catered to our needs, and provided special anniversary treats that my wife and I will never forget
- The rooms are large for Europe, clean, beautifully decorated and you could hear no noise from the Placa Reial (the night of our stay was a major festival, did not disturb us at all)
- This hotel is not to be missed
- On top of the lovely room and service we enjoyed a fabulous diner in the hotels LaCuina restaurant, the chefs tasting menu was Michelin star worthy, with great service
- Also the included breakfast the next morning was scrumptious
- Was truly a perfect stay
- Cant wait to return to visit again soon
- Great location, staff helpful and friendly
- Rooms modern, clean and had little balcony overlooking the square
- staff were very good and we had a very enjoyable stay
- Tremendous staff , all very helpful ,excellent breakfast , from a menu
- gloriously large bathroom
- Would not stay anyplace else in barcelona
- Stituated on a wonderful square and close to the sea
- Staff very friendly and helpful
- Rooms not the biggest but very clean
- Roof terrace a great place to relax with a beer
- Pros: Clean hotel, friendly staff, good location
- Only downfall was the room was a little small
- Overall I would definitely staff there again
- Location extra , can not be better
- Lots of food, market, restaurant within 2 minutes walk
- Big negative is that you hear everything happening on the floor, people walking by with heels, talking, etc
- We were on floor 6, in a jewel suite
- Only 3 others rooms on that floor and noise from corridor was not pleasant
- Concierge/butler Robert was AMAZING , but reception staff that day were below average, condescendant almost , didnt seem to care about clients, were laughing between them in spanish thinking that we wouldn't understand that they were saying that room was ready but didnt want to gibe it to us even taught we were supposed to have early check in with that room
- First impression is a lot and it fails at that hotel
- Also picture of rooms on website where not room we were given
- explanation was that there as 2 and we got the other one
- the one where the sofa is NEXT to tv and not in front of so totally useless
- There was also no special jewelry piece in the room as mentioned on website, i was told it was because of a turnover
- but even butler had never seen one in this room
- Stayed at The Hotel Do prior to cruise and wold definitely go back there again but never to Bagues
- The staff were welcoming and friendly and always keen to help
- Despite being in popular, lively location, rooms were quiet, clean and comfortable
- Would definitely recommend 5*
- Initially we were allocated a room that was very dark and the window looked onto a dark wall
- We phoned reception and were quickly taken to another overlooking Las Ramblas, much better
- The beds were very comfortable and apart from the metro rumble from under the hotel the soundproofing was great
- We didn't try the rooftop splash pool, not quite warm enough in March
- The reception staff were all very cheerful, helpful and knowledgeable
- Our only criticism was in regard to breakfast
- the tomatoes I ordered with my eggs arrived after I'd eaten the eggs and the next morning my friends toast arrived late and there were no English Breakfast tea bags available only earl grey or herbal
- The location is great, close to buses and the metro and perfect to walk to the harbour, the gothic area, markets etc
- Visited Hotel Bagues while on a business trip for the second time
- The staff and management were incredible and accommodating to the greatest standards
- The hotel is impeccably clean, modern and comfortable
- From the minute I arrived, I genuinely felt taken care of and was beyond pleased with the experience
- I will definitely be back
- The hotel is beautiful both inside and out
- Room is very sophisticated with dark tile and very clean
- I must say, before I arrived, I had reservations due to the location
- I am a very light sleeper and I was having second thoughts about staying on Las Ramblas and possible outside noise
- The room was sound proof and the only noise from the outside I ever heard were the church bells (once)
- The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable
- This was our first time to Barcelona and we loved everything about the location of our hotel
- Stay here, you won't be disappointed
- Myself and my partner were delighted with our stay
- The staff made us feel very welcome and we loved our beautiful room
- The hotel was very central and had good transport links to either side
- Great location, wonderful service, luxury amenities, but bathroom had tub for shower and no grab bars or tub mat to prevent slipping, small amount of vanity service
- Bedroom was luxurious, turndown service, pillow menu, plush robes and slippers
- Desk service was
- Hotel was central location, i love walking so was not a problem for us, in the sense main attractions were walking distance, but some were more than 30 minutes, lots of tapas bars, lots of choice,
- the hotel staff were very friendly, the only thing i could say that breakfast should have been included, as very expensive for what it was, no cooked food, expect eggs, breakfast would have been an extra 23 euros, which to me was alot, when i normally book with Expedia, it has always been included and i did not look at the small print, also had a flight with BA, and did not realise only hand luggage was included in our price, WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN
- Friendly staff
- Lovely room
- Would like to have had soap in the bathroom
- Wonderful stay at Hotel Bagues
- Not only is the location perfect, the interior stunning and the rooms impeccable, the service from the staff is the best I've received
- nothing was too much and it felt like they genuinely wanted you to love every minute of your stay
- Great hotel with amazing staff
- I stayed around 3 weeks total at this hotel and will stay again without hesitation
- The decor is perfect even if the rooms are a little on the small side for a 5 star
- But they are still comfortable, although the walls can seem a little thin at times
- The roof is fine for a chill out and has amazing views of the city and La Ramblas
- The only downside is the lack of onsite parking should you have a car
- Mini bar is expensive so proceed with caution
- We had a superb weekend break staying in a superb boutique hotel conveniently located for exploring the city
- The hotel staff were incredibly helpful and attentive
- We were in Barcelona for my wifes 40th and were pleasently surprised when early evening on our first night we were presented with a free bottle of champagne and chocolates in our room, lovely touch
- thank you
- We would definitely book this hotel again when visiting Barcelona
- Small rooms, but tastefully furnished while maximizing the limited space
- Wonderfully friendly and professional staff
- Only complaint (which is beyond the hotel's control) is the rumbling of the Metro, which turned out to be our very early wake up call each day
- Had a wonderful week long stay at hotel bagues
- The place is lovely and in a great location
- The hotel staff are extremely helpful and very approachable
- Excellent
- Walls a bit too thin
- I had a few rooms outside travelling together who made too much noise at night talking outside my room
- Was great staff was friendly and helpful would stay there next time if I get to go
- Stayed 4 nights
- Located central and its in the middle of La-Rambla
- Close to most of the attractions and most importantly to catalunya square where you can get sight seeing buses, metro, buses, taxis
- Lovely lovely staff who managed to make us feel VIP
- Negatives are - 1
- Rooms are very congested
- Small bathrooms
- Pool was ultra small and only good for kids
- Roof top area was a waste and don't count on it
- Bar-man looked scary who was smoking marijuana when we went there
- Very nice lovely hotel my only issue was the dark bathroom
- Stayed in one of the Jewel suites with fab jacuzzi outside on the balcony
- really great service all round
- Small chic boutique hotel on la Rambla
- Very contemporary decor, beautiful room and bathroom
- Roof top bar and pool
- Very very friendly and helpful staff
- Perfect location
- car parking around the corner extrembly tight and not for amateur drivers
- Very nice touches and would have stayed longer but for time constraints
- Very nice hotel with excellent staff, very helpful and friendly
- Little disappointed with the pool and rooftop bar as it could not accommodate more then 15 people
- Did lots of shopping, sightseeing and good eating
- Even got to the beach
- The staff recommendations for restaurants was great and they made all the bookings
- Couldn't fault anything
- : the hotel was great and staff couldn't do enough for you
- Would always stay there
- Great room
- Great Staff
- Surprise roof top sunning area
- Very nice staff, and right next to the Gothic Quarter
- They even had a pillow menu
- Great location
- Swimming pool is a joke
- on pictures looks fine, in reality it is less than a glorified bathtub
- Impossible to swim in
- Roof top terrace has minimal space, uncomfortable seating facilities
- Super pleasant experience
- Nice hotel, excellent location, beautiful welcome present
- The hotel is located at the heart of La Rambla where all the restaurants and shopping district are available, the hotel staff are extremely helpful and friendly
- The room was very nice and clean with a comfortable bed and the wifi was fast
- The only problem is the vibrations you feel when a train passes below the hotel (metro)
- The noise on the street cant be heard unless a group of drunk people pass by and started screaming
- the hotel itself is OK
- For me i am not into shopping and nightlife when I am away, I would prefer to go somewhere near the sights of the city
- The hotel facilities are limited, the steam room, sauna and fitness center are a joke (you have to ask for them to be turned on and there is 3 pieces of gym equipment)
- The floor in the room wasnt clean and left my feet black on two of the days
- Dissapointed with the coffee facilities, you only get 2 free coffees (no tea or anything else)
- There is a mini bar but you have to pay for everything
- For the price of the room I would of thought there might have been a free bottle of water and possibly some free snacks (the last hotel i stayed at in London had a free mini bar, alcoholic drinks excluded)
- And the hotel in London was cheaper
- So this just lets it down
- The staff are amazing
- They gave us tips and places to avoid
- They even suggested the cheapest metro ticket
- So really pleased with them
- Very nice hotel, great staff, good service, cool decoration, location is awesome and it is right next to the market
- Breakfast seemed though expensive, so we skipped it
- Perhaps lowering the price of the minibar could improve sales
- Great reception we had and great recommendations he made us to visit
- It is very centrally located but at night to look out for the pocketpickers which are noticeable in groups as they are looking for solo tourist
- Rooms are very upscale and modern and love the blinds that blockout all light
- This hotel is RIGHT on Las Ramblas, meaning one of the things you HAVE to see is right outside your door
- Great shopping, eating and close to the subway so you can see all the museums and other areas of Barcelona
- Very cool hotel that is tucked right on the street, but all that noise stays out with good windows
- The standard of service at Bagues was as ever superb, we've stayed twice before
- The staff are all magnificent
- A few things to me that are open to improvement
- Wi-Fi in an expensive boutique hotel should be free, coffee making facilities ought to be available in the room, the breakfasts weren't quite as good as I remembered and the steam room in the gym was out of action this stay
- Nevertheless, the quality of staff and standard of service go a long way and it's easy to overlook the minor shortcomings
- Great location and the staff was friendly and very helpful
- Our room had a window onto the Rambla, which we loved but it can be a little loud if you are not used to city noise
- Very clean and the turn down service with chocolates was a nice added touch we were not expecting
- All I can say about this hotel is---- They do everything correctly with an incredible location
- Great location on Las Ramblas right next to the big market
- The hotel was comfortable and very clean
- The staff were extremely personable and helpful
- I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone going to Barcelona
- AWEASOME PLACE TO STAY
- What's good
- Nice staff good location
- What's not
- Very uncomfortable room
- Small bed
- No dressing table nor any table
- No mirror
- No coffee machine nor kettle
- Small narrow bathtub without safety handle
- Unusual hight of Wc
- Bad choice of washbasin
- Bad lighting distribution
- We were disappointed
- Expected much more for that price
- Location good, rooms good, breakfasts good, but everything else - AVERAGE
- No welcome drink, not so friendly guy on reception, dirty windows at room and the biggest disappointment was the pool on the roof (which we were really looking forward to)
- It was very small, but that's ok, it's small hotel, but there were dirty beds, dirty towels and no bar service
- Great location
- Modern
- Clean
- Metro underneath, so it vibrates
- Zero isolation between room, you can hear everything other people are doing
- This 5 start hotel had a very poor welcome, they left a botle of water in the room, but they do leave a small candy in the bed every night
- Coffe is complementary in the room, but be carefull, only the first 4 cups, then they will charge you 3
- 50 euros per cup
- The hotel maybe has the 5 stars for the location, but the service is of a 3 star
- Had a wonderful time there
- The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to make sure our stay was enjoyable
- Very modern décor and the location near city center was all you could ask for
- Would recommend this hotel whole heartedly
- Close to everything a tonne of room, very relaxing atmosphere and staff were very helpful
- Only tiny criticism was the shower wasn't the best and there was no aircon but the fan was fine in August when we travelled
- Would definitely stay again
- Can't rate the staff and hotel high enough
- Everyone was so friendly and helpful
- The restaurant recommendations were wonderful
- The staff went out of their way to be helpful
- The location was perfect
- In the midst of the activity but quiet when you wanted to shut out the noise
- This was the best hotel we've stayed at and we've traveled all over Europe and the U
- Would highly recommend it
- Great location directly on the Ramblas
- The staff was always willing to answer all of our questions and offered suggestions upon our arrival
- The rooftop bar and pool terrace is gorgeous and the overall ambiance of this hotel is elegant and modern
- My girlfriend and I thotoughly enjoyed the experience and will stay here again if we ever come back to Barcelona
- 5th floor room above Las Ramblas
- No noise when balcony door was closed
- Staff was excellent and very helpful and insightful
- Hotel was very quiet and was excellent location with lots of restaurants, museums, and shopping closeby
- Breakfast was OK, but not included in the room cost
- I was surprised by a few things with this hotel: our room was not ready by 3pm so we were "downgraded" to a very dark room with a patio window instead of window to the street
- Not possible to get a simple iron and iron table: they simply don't have that
- No soap in the bathroom: you have to wash your hands with shower gel
- However, the hotel is very nice, modern and elegant, and service is "good", just "good"
- Hotel Bagues had very modern & clean rooms
- We found everything we needed (slippers, bathrobes, hairdryer, complimentary water bottle)
- The view from the rooftop is lovely, and the 'pool' (although tiny) is a nice way to cool off and enjoy some sun
- The hotel staff were beyond helpful from restaurant recommendations to booking sightseeing tickets and information regarding the airport shuttle bus
- We were able to comfortably walk to plenty of shopping and also down to the waterfront (about 15 min)
- The food in the restaurant is good (enjoyed at a 30% discount for hotel guests), but quite pricey nonetheless - I would suggest walking a few streets off La Ramblas for any meals
- I would definitely recommend this hotel
- Fantastic hotel room, rooftop pool, close to the market, sites, and subway
