- Backburner:
- Commander Keen 4 (pb 10:28, wr 10:26 by CaneCraft)
- Someday I will work on this again. It is imo the best Commander Keen game both in terms of casual playing and speedrunning. CaneCraft got 2 seconds faster than me. There are 2 obnoxious things about this game: DOSBox kinda sucks and also if you turn the sound off in the game it goes faster. Cane and I don't do this because we like the sfx (LOL) but it's an obnoxious internal conflict for me. If I run this again though my goal will be to beat CaneCraft's run (sound on).
- Castlevania 64 - Carrie (pb 48:10, wr 45:27 by ChristianF23)
- I love this game. It has ridiculous speedrun depth specifically with the fight strategies. Skippable cutscenes, NTSC-U is faster, silly glitches and fun mechanics. I would love to go for the record in this sometime but I am preoccupied by Zelda at the moment.
- Super Monkey Ball - Expert (pb 18:10, wr 16:09 by MilesSMB)
- I really would love to keep improving my PB in this as the game is so amazing but again with the other things I have going on I don't expect to touch it this year.
- Current Projects:
- The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker - (pb/wr 4:27:53)
- I can cut 3 minutes off of this and I am definitely not satisfied with my current time, but with Wind Waker HD approaching swiftly I really don't know whats going to happen here. If HD is awesome I may abandon this game. If I abandon it, Demon is perfectly capable of beating my time. If that happens, should I return? I don't really know whats going to happen here.
- The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - (pb/wr 19:15)
- I want to get sub 19 and do a really beautiful commentary for it. I will work on this on and off over the next several months when I don't feel like playing The Wind Waker.
- Future Projects:
- The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD
- I will explore this game. Depending on what is in the final build of the game I may take speedrunning it seriously. It has several positives going for it and only a few negatives. This really hinges on things like the storage glitch.
- Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
- I got such a huge craving for this again recently and I do plan on learning to play it on XBLA (the superior version). If I get carried away enough I can almost see myself getting a Sega Saturn and do Maria mode aswell as Alucard/Richter. Also if I play on XBLA I would probably put some effort into any%, goal being set at probably sub20 at first. I would also want to work on optimizing low% relics, and while a pretty arbitrary category (not nearly as prestigious as any% or all bosses for any character), it is somehow my favorite.
- Games I plan on playing through casually within the next 6-9 months:
- Zelda II: The Adventure of Link
- Kid Icarus (NES)
- Bionic Commando
- Metroid II: Return of Samus
- Castlevania II: Simon's Quest
- It's probably unlikely I will actually speedrun any of these but I will keep an open mind. These games caught my eye a little bit and I am curious about them. I have never beaten them.
- Games I might return to someday:
- Commander Keen 5 - improve glitched, learn glitchless?
- Commander Keen 6
- The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - other categories besides any%
- Games I will not be speedrunning again:
- Banjo-Kazooie
- This game was fun to learn but it is really not my style of run. Nuff said.
- Paper Mario
- This is more my style than BK but I was honestly pretty bored doing more than like 3 runs. There's actually a small chance I would go back to this but I don't really see it happening as there's so much other stuff I want to work on.
- Times I am fully satisfied with:
- None.
- While I believe pretty strongly than "you can always go faster, always," I do see people meeting goals and saying "I'm done! I'm done!" The closest to that happening was when I got 4:57:XX for The Wind Waker before dry storage. Dry storage got discovered and I was reinvigorated to stay on top of the current metagame, and I have been ever since. Another example was OoT MST when I had the WR and had just done an amazing run at ADGQ right afterwards. Despite knowing that another ~1:30 could come off my time with current strats, I didn't have the motivation to really go for it, and dropped it for The Wind Waker. I hope someday to get a truly outlier run for something like OoT any% and really call it "done."
