  4. "Give me your tired, your poor,
  5. Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
  6. The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
  7. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,
  8. I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

  10. ##########################################################################################
  11. This is the beginning to an idea. I would like to see this passed around and improved upon. If you think you can help, by all means please give your input. I would like to see Anonymous and Occupy Wall St work together on this nationwide. I think this could be a very effective long term Op to improve the quality of life where it is needed most; In our poorest communitites. I am hoping there is enough information here that any occupation across the US can run with this idea.
  12. ########################################################################################
  13.
  14. Idea:
  15. Collection of old unwanted laptops and desktops for wipe/repair/consolidation to reinstall with Open Source education software for distribution in poor communities to families without computers. If we can expand the mind of children, and get them used to using computers, we can give them a hand up in education and schooling.
  16.
  17.
  18. Community outreach for donations:
  19. Each city would be spear headed via local Occupy - flyering, outreach to businesses, community organizations, neighborhoods, churches, and schools
  20.
  21.
  22. Collections:
  23. We would need either a garage or workspace to not only collect the computers, but to use as an upgrade/installation centers Internet access at these locations is a must.
  24.
  25.
  26. Repair/Rebuild:
  27. A training class would be needed to teach any volunteers what they are doing with repair and upgrade/consolidation. Would need at least one person with enough knowledge to troubleshoot hardware issues during consolidation and repair of computers.
  28.
  29. #
  30. maybe pre-load videos of these training classes onto the laptops, or create CD's / DVD's every-now-and-then that have the updated training classes on them, with details about where to pick these up passed to Occupy. Occupy could then keep a central system for receiving requests from users as to what training classes people are in need of, and those technically able might be able to donate their time in creating more training classes based on those requests?
