Crumbs, in the dining room hall
I never ate them all
They sat too long

Why did I use the recipe
You tried to teach to me?
Without you they come out wrong

I know, just how much you loved the sweet
Now they're sitting incomplete
A quiet pain like rerouted mail

Still, these cupcakes do taste great
Nostalgia on my plate
Before our love had gone stale.
