- EXT. DIAMOND MINE - MIDDAY
- The camera pans over a diamond mine with slaves working in it and soldiers guarding it.
- SOLDIER 1
- Work faster! We don’t have all day!
- The people desperately try to work harder to stay alive, but they are all weak.
- SOLDIER 1
- Hey you! Get to work!
- A woman is too weak to work and is lying in the mud.
- SOLDIER 1
- Bring her up here now!
- Two soldiers go down into the mud and drag the woman up to the supervisor.
- SOLDIER 1
- This is what happens when you do not work!
- The soldier pulls out his gun, points it at the woman and as the woman is raising her head, he shoots her. Blood sprays onto some nearby dirt.
- INT. JACK’S OFFICE - DAY
- Jack, a journalist in Australia, works on his computer researching current events going on in Africa.
- JACK
- Mary, can you please come in.
- MARY
- Is something wrong Mr. Wilson?
- JACK
- Yes, there is something wrong. Have you heard about what’s going on in Zimbabwe?
- MARY
- Yes I do. It is horrible what is going on.
- JACK
- The UN keeps insisting that the Kimberly Process scheme is stopping the flow of conflict diamonds. But it’s doing nothing to stop these people.
- MARY
- I’m sure you will find a way to expose them, you always have.
- JACK
- Not this time. These people are covering their tracks well. I have no idea who exactly is involved or how many people, and I can’t find any concrete evidence to expose anyone.
- MARY
- So… what can you do?
- JACK
- If I can’t find the evidence here, I will find it there. I’m going to Africa to find out who is behind this.
- MARY
- You can’t! You could be killed!
- JACK
- I have to. If I don’t this won’t stop. It’s only a matter of time before this leads to an international crisis that will affect Australia. I might be able to find someone there that can help me. I am not going to sit by and watch these countries do this.
- MARY
- I have seen you do a lot of crazy things in your time Jack, but this is the most insane. Please return safely.
- JACK
- I’m coming back. With concrete evidence on these people. Can you please look after my dog while I am gone?
- MARY
- Ok. Where will you go When should I expect you to come back?
- JACK
- I am going to head to Zimbabwe, there is a lot of activity there at the moment. Give me at least one month. By then if I don’t have the evidence I will come back. Or I might be dead.
- EXT. AIRPORT - EVENING
- Jack boards the plane and flies to Zimbabwe. Once he arrives, he hires a car and drives to a hotel.
- INT. JACK’S HOTEL ROOM - NIGHT
- Jack unpacks his bags and sets up his computer. He finds a map of the area and marks some places he should go to find help. His first stop is the marketplace.
- EXT. ZIMBABWE MARKET - DAY
- Jack walks through the market looking at all the places to go and people to look for. He then spots some men that look like they might be able to help him.
- JACK
- Excuse me?
- The men turn and walk towards Jack.
- SMUGGLER 1
- What do you need bru?
- JACK
- My name is Jack Wilson. I’m a writer from Australia. I’m here to do some investigative reporting about the diamond trade in this region. You two looked like you might be able to help me
- Both of the men look at each other and then at Jack.
- SMUGGLER 2
- It’s best not to ask questions about that sort of thing around here ozzy.
- SMUGGLER 1
- It could get you into trouble.
- Jack looks at the two, and then realizes it.
- JACK
- You’re diamond smugglers, aren’t you?
- SMUGGLER 1
- Stay out of trouble bru.
- The two men walk away leaving Jack to try and find help elsewhere.
- INT. ZIMBABWE BAR - AFTERNOON
- Jack walks into a bar after a disappointing day of fact finding and trying to find help.
- JACK
- One tusker beer please.
- As the bartender prepares Jack’s drink, Jack looks around at all the other people in an attempt to find someone to help him. After looking around for about a minute, he sees a lone man in a corner having a drink.
- BARTENDER
- Here you go.
- JACK
- Thanks.
- Jack gets his drink and walks over to the man.
- JACK
- Mind if I sit down?
- The man gives Jack a quick look over before responding.
- DANIEL
- Go ahead man.
- JACK
- How’s life?
- DANIEL
- Who wants to know?
- JACK
- Jack Wilson
- (holds out hand)
- DANIEL
- Daniel Jacobs
- (shakes hand)
- DANIEL
- I’ve read about your work, Mr. Wilson. You seem quite good at what you do.
- JACK
- Thanks. I try to do my best. What about you?
- There is a pause. Daniel takes a big drink from his cup, looks at the table and then answers.
- DANIEL
- You could sey that I work with rocks.
- Jack looks right at Daniel
- JACK
- You’re a smuggler too?
- DANIEL
- Yup.
- JACK
- Do you realize what your work is doing?
- DANIEL
- I give them the diamonds, I get paid, so what? Who am I hurting?
- JACK
- The thousands of people working in mining fields and living under authoritarian rule.
- DANIEL
- What can I do about that? My father tried to save this country over 30 years ago in the Bush War and look at how that turned out.
- JACK
- You’re a smuggler, you have to know who these people are. Help me expose them.
- DANIEL
- Are you kidding? It would be easier to find a needle in a haystack the size of Egypt.
- JACK
- Please help me, if we work together, we can find evidence to put these people away.
- DANIEL
- Sorry bru, but I like my life and I’m not about to risk it for your personal crusade. Goodbye.
- (walks out of bar)
- JACK
- Damn!
- INT. DANIEL’S APARTMENT - NIGHT
- Daniel walks to his couch and unloads his gun. Then the phone rings.
- DANIEL
- (picks up phone)
- Hello?
- SCRAMBLED VOICE
- We have some more product for you to collect. By now you should have received a map with the location you need to go to. Proceed to the location, get the rocks and smuggle them out of the country.
- Daniel hangs up the phone and looks over a map, circling his destination with a pen.
- EXT. MINING CAMP - MORNING
- DANIEL arrives at the mine. He gets out of his car and walks to the soldier in charge. He looks down at the civilians working in the mud.
- SOLDIER 3
- Hey! Are you the guy?
- DANIEL
- (looks up)
- Yeah
- Daniel walks to the soldier as the slaves look up at him.
- SOLDIER 3
- Here is the stuff
- (hands Daniel a bag of diamonds)
- DANIEL
- Alright.
- A woman suddenly jumps at one of the other soldiers while he is distracted.
- SOLDIER 2
- Get off me you stupid piece of filth!
- (hits woman on the head)
- SLAVE 1
- Please don’t-
- (woman gets shot)
- Daniel looks at the mangled body of the woman in horror.
- SOLDIER 3
- Hey man wake up! Get those rocks out of here.
- DANIEL
- Right.
- Daniel heads back to his car and drives back to town.
- EXT. ZIMBABWE TOWN ALLEY - DAY
- Daniel walks into an alley and finds his collector.
- COLLECTOR
- Hurry up and give me the stones.
- DANIEL
- Right, here they are.
- (hands collector diamonds)
- COLLECTOR
- Good. Here is your payment.
- (hands Daniel a package)
- DANIEL
- Thanks.
- INT. DANIEL’S APARTMENT - NIGHT
- Daniel is haunted by what he saw at the diamond mine. He is flipping through an old photo album with pictures of his father. He looks off into the distance, wondering what his father would think of him now.
- DANIEL
- I can’t keep doing this, I’m going to stop them.
- (Looks at photo of father in military uniform)
- For you.
- INT. ZIMBABWE BAR - DAY
- Jack is in the bar again after another day of failure. He feels like giving up.
- DANIEL
- (walks into the bar and goes to Jack)
- Hey
- JACK
- Hi Daniel, I never thought I would see you again.
- DANIEL
- Me too. I need to talk to you.
- JACK
- What about?
- DANIEL
- Yesterday, I went to one of the mining camps to get a shipment of diamonds to smuggle.
- Jack sits up.
- JACK
- Ok, go on.
- DANIEL
- While I was there, I saw innocent people being killed and brutalised by soldiers hired to guard the camps. They were slaves. While I do enjoy the money I get from this, freedom is more important, and I can’t continue to dishonour my father’s memory. I can’t help these people anymore. I’m going to help you.
- JACK
- I’m glad you have had a change of heart. What do we do first?
- DANIEL
- Do you have a gun?
- JACK
- I didn’t know I was going on the front lines.
- DANIEL
- You’re not, but these people are very powerful. If they find out who you are, they will stop at nothing to make you disappear. You need to be able to protect yourself. Come on, let’s go. (Gets up with Jack)
- JACK
- Where are we going?
- DANIEL
- We are going to visit a friend of mine.
- INT. ZIMBABWE SAFE HOUSE - MIDDAY
- Soldiers guard a safe house in Zimbabwe where the president resides. He awaits the next diamond shipment
- COLLECTOR
- (walks into room)
- Sir.
- ROBERT MUGABE
- What is it?
- COLLECTOR
- I have those diamonds that you asked for.
- (puts bag on desk)
- ROBERT MUGABE
- (turns around and empties bag onto desk) Good. Have these on the next shipment out of here.
- COLLECTOR
- Yes sir.
- (walks out of safe house)
- Mugabe turns around, smiles and continues to smoke his cigarette.
- INT. DUDLEY’S SHED - MIDDAY
- Daniel and Jack are outside a large shed on the edge of town. They are about to meet one of Daniels’s friends.
- DANIEL
- Do you have any cash on you?
- JACK
- 950 Australian dollars.
- DANIEL
- Good. You will be able to buy just about anything for that. (they both enter the shed)
- DUDLEY
- (turns around)
- Good to see ya again Daniel. Looks like you brought a friend too.
- DANIEL
- Yeah. He is here to buy something.
- DUDLEY
- (to Jack)
- Ok, let’s see how much you have.
- JACK
- Sure.
- (pulls out money)
- DUDLEY
- (whistles)
- Looks like you want something special. Wait here.
- (walks to the back of the shed)
- JACK
- (Quietly)
- Can we trust him?
- DANIEL
- I have known Dudley my whole life. He doesn’t sell to the soldiers, and we have both saved each other more than once. He is one of the few trustworthy people around here.
- JACK
- Alright.
- DUDLEY
- (walks back to Jack and Daniel)
- This is best thing you can get.
- (shows Jack a Beretta 92)
- Comes with five 15 round magazines and a holster.
- JACK
- Thanks.
- DUDLEY
- Come see me if you ever need more ammo.
- DANIEL
- See ye around Dudley.
- (the two walk out)
- JACK
- Ok, now that I am sorted what do we do?
- DANIEL
- Before we can expose these people, we need to force their hand.
- JACK
- How do you plan on doing that?
- DANIEL
- I’m going to free those people at the diamond camp I was at the other day. It will force them to take action against whoever is responsible. It could allow you to find out who they are and get evidence.
- JACK
- Are you sure you can do it alone?
- DANIEL
- Thanks for offering, but I’m not sure this is the sort of work for a journalist.
- EXT. MINING CAMP - AFTERNOON
- Daniel has arrived at the camp and is getting ready to begin the attack.
- The guards are all over the camp. Two of them are watching over some slave workers and the other two are sitting down.
- Daniel creeps into the camp from behind the bushes and gets to work.
- He sets down an explosive charge behind the two guards sitting down and then proceeds to hide behind a small bush.
- A guard drags a man out of the water and prepares to shoot him.
- DANIEl
- Not this time
- (sets off explosive)
- There is an explosion behind the two guards and dust is kicked into the air.
- Daniel pulls out his 1911 and uses it to kill one of the guards.
- The other three guards jump into the water and use the mud piles as cover.
- Daniel hits the dirt as the guards unleash a frenzy of bullets at him. he finds cover behind a large rock.
- He lines up one of the soldiers and shoots him.
- One of the guards goes crazy, pulls out a machete and runs at Daniel. After quickly reloading Daniel shoots the guard before he can get too close.
- The last guard shoots at Daniel and forces him into cover. As he shoots, he runs for his car and drives away.
- Daniel gets out of cover and breathes a sigh of relief.
- DANIEL
- You are all free! Get out of here before they come back!
- The slaves all get out of the water and run to the nearest safe town. Daniel looks at the mining site for a minute or so and then leaves.
- INT. ZIMBABWE SAFE HOUSE - NIGHT
- The surviving guard rushes back to the safe house and goes to Mugabe.
- SOLDIER 3
- (to guards outside room)
- I need to see him now!
- One of the guards opens the door and lets the him in.
- ROBERT MUGABE
- What is it? Why are you here?
- SOLDIER 3
- Some dude came out of nowhere and attacked our camp! He killed three of my men and nearly got me!
- ROBERT MUGABE
- Did you see who did this?
- SOLDIER 3
- I was too busy shootin back at teh bastard!
- ROBERT MUGABE
- I see. I want this rat found and killed! I’m putting you in charge. Find this man and send a message to anyone that would defy me, commander.
- COMMANDER
- Thanks boss! When I find this worm, I’m gonna cut his throat!
- The commander walks out of the room and Mugabe looks out the window.
- INT. JACK’S HOTEL ROOM - DAY
- Jack is sleeping in bed and then there is a knock on the door.
- JACK
- (pulls gun out of drawer)
- Who is it?
- Jack walks slowly to the door to find a note in front of the door on the floor. He picks it up and reads it. “Meet me at Dudley’s place tonight. -Daniel.”
- JACK
- (puts down note)
- I hope this is good news.
- INT. DUDLEY’S SHED - NIGHT
- Jack walks into Dudley’s shed to find Daniel talking to Dudley about the attack on the mining camp.
- JACK
- (walks over to Daniel)
- How did it go? Are you ok?
- DANIEL
- I’m fine. I got all but one of the guards and the people are free. Now we have to wait. I don’t think the survivor saw my face, but only three smugglers, myself included, went to that camp. Eventually, they are gonna figure out it was me.
- JACK
- What do we do then? There is no way we could go up against an army by ourselves.
- DANIEl
- We go into hiding. We will have to keep a low profile for the rest of this mission. if we are lucky, we will get the incriminating evidence you need.
- DUDLEY
- There was also something else we wanted to ask you about.
- JACK
- What is it? If you want to be paid I can take care of it.
- DUDLEY
- When this is all over, and you have your evidence, we want to go back with you to Australia.
- JACK
- Why? if we take care of these people you will have nothing to worry about.
- DANIEL
- Even if we succeed, there are powerful people that will want us dead. We can’t afford to stay here if we want to survive.
- DUDLEY
- What do you say?
- JACK
- If this does work, and we put these people away, I will never be able to thank you enough. It will be difficult, but I will get you into Australia.
- DANIEL
- Good. The soldiers don’t know where this shed is, so Dudley is going to let us use it as a base for the duration of the operation. I have already moved my things to this shed. Go back to your hotel and bring all your belongings here.
- JACK
- Ok. I will be back in an hour or so.
- (walks out of shed)
- INT. DUDLEY’s SHED - EARLY MORNING
- Daniel wakes up Jack so he can capture a big piece of evidence before it slips away.
- DANIEL
- Hey, wake up!
- JACK
- (sits up in cot)
- What is it?
- DANIEL
- Grab your camera and your notepad. You are gonna want to get this.
- JACK
- What happened
- DANIEL
- Let’s just say you should be glad you got your stuff out of the hotel when you did. Now come!
- JACK
- This can’t be good.
- (gets out of bed)
- EXT. OUTSIDE ZIMBABWE HOTEL - MORNING
- Jack and Daniel have snuck up to the hotel to see what is going on.
- JACK
- (creeping up through the bushes with Jack)
- What is going on here? Why are they going into the hotel?
- DANIEL
- Quiet down! I don’t know why, but take some photos. Look at those cars.
- Daniel points at some black cars outside the hotel, closing it off to civilians. The cars have government markings on them.
- JACK
- (takes a photo)
- Ok, how does this help my investigation?
- DANIEl
- Look at the man outside the building, take a photo of him. (points to familiar figure in black suit)
- JACK
- (takes photo of strange man)
- What is so important about him?
- DANIEL
- That is the same guy that survived my attack on the mining camp.
- JACK
- Oh my, this means that-
- DANIEL
- It means that whoever is involved in this knows who you are, and they’re looking for you.
- JACK
- Is there anything else I need to know before we leave?
- DANIEL
- Before you got here, that guy announced that a ‘dangerous armed individual’ is being looked for.
- JACK
- (looks at Daniel)
- DANIEL
- They know that I was the one who hit the camp. They must have talked to the other smugglers already. I can’t go back into the town anymore, it is too risky. Dudley will have to get our food and supplies for us.
- JACK
- Ok. This is a good start. Now that we know that the government is involved, we need to find out who exactly is connected to it.
- DANIEL
- Luckily for you, I know someone that might be able to help us.
- Let’s get out of here.
- (Daniel and Jack creep back into the bush)
- INT. DUDLEY’S SHED - DAY
- Daniel, Jack and Dudley talk about their plan to capture the diamond collector.
- DUDLEY
- How do you want to do this?
- DANIEL
- We will ambush him while he is driving to his drop off point. From there, we will bring him back here and question him. He will have guards, so this is a job for me and Dudley only.
- JACK
- There has to be something I can do to help. At least let me come with you for backup.
- DANIEL
- No. If you die, then any chance of these people being exposed will be lost. Stay here and get your questions ready.
- JACK
- Very well
- (walks over to table)
- DUDLEY
- How many guys should we expect, and what would they be packing?
- DANIEL
- Expect at least eight guys. They will probably be armed with the standard setup: AKs, grenades and maybe a mounted gun.
- DUDLEY
- I will get our stuff ready. When do we leave?
- DANIEL
- Tomorrow at midday. Grab an extra magazine before we go. You will probably need it.
- EXT. DIRT PATH - MIDDAY
- TEXT:
- “The next day. Midday”
- COLLECTOR
- How much further until we get to the location?
- SOLDIER 2
- 60 kilometres
- COLLECTOR
- (swears under breath)
- SOLDIER 4
- Stop the car!
- SOLDIER 3
- What is it man?! We have to get to the camp!
- SOLDIER 4
- Look at de log blockin the path. We got to move it.
- SOLDIER 3
- Fine. But lez make it quik.
- Both soldiers get out of the car and go to the log and start pushing. When they make a big push, they uncover a mine and it goes off, killing them. Dudley and Daniel then start shooting at the car.
- COLLECTOR
- Oh damn!
- (gets out of car and runs into bushes)
- DANIEL
- Careful we need him alive!
- Six more soldiers get out of the car and start shooting at them.
- SOLDIER 2
- Gut de bastards!
- Dudley shoots and kills two more soldiers trying to get around the log.
- One of the soldiers pulls a grenade out of his pocket, pulls the pin, but before he can throw it, Daniel shoots him. The grenade drops to the ground and goes off, killing another nearby soldier.
- SOLDIER 3
- To hell with this! I’m out of here!
- DANIEL
- Don’t let them escape!
- DUDLEY
- I’m on it.
- Dudley shoots and kills the soldier that is running away.
- The final mook starts to charge at Daniel and Dudley with two grenades in his hand, but Daniel shoots him before he can get close. Then there is silence.
- COLLECTOR
- Daniel! I know it’s you! Stop this now and I won’t tell my superiors! Where are you?
- DANIEl
- Quietly: Do you have him lined up?
- DUDLEY
- Yup.
- DANIEL
- Take him.
- Dudley shoots the collector with a tranquilizer. The collector pulls the needle out of his side, and then collapses.
- DANIEl
- Let’s get him out of here before more of them show up.
- Daniel and Dudley move out of cover to get the collector back to Dudley’s shed. They put him in a nearby car and drive away.
- INT. DUDLEY’S SHED - EVENING
- Daniel and Dudley have brought the collector back to the shed for questioning. he is tied to a chair.
- DANIEl
- Wake up!
- COLLECTOR
- What? Why are you doing this? Release me!
- DUDLEY
- You are going nowhere. My friend here has some questions for you. (points to Jack)
- COLLECTOR
- What do you want pretty boy?
- JACK
- Who is running the illegal diamond operation here in Zimbabwe?
- COLLECTOR
- I am not telling you jack.
- DANIEL
- (grabs collector)
- If you want to live, you better tell him, huh! If you don’t, I will break every bone in your body, and then I’ll leave you to fry in the desert!
- (throws collector down)
- Now tell him!
- (hits collector)
- COLLECTOR
- (spits out blood)
- If I tell you *Breathing*, you have to protect me.
- DUDLEY
- If you tell us what we want to know, we won’t kill you and we won’t let anyone else kill you either. Speak up.
- COLLECTOR
- (looks at Jack)
- Ya got ur notepad ready ozzy?
- JACK
- Spill it.
- There is a pause as the collector nervously looks around the room.
- COLLECTOR
- The man in charge of the operation in Zimbabwe is Mugabe.
- DANIEL
- (looks at collector with a flippant expression)
- Yeah, tell us something we don’t know.
- COLLECTOR
- That is only the tip of the anthill.
- JACK
- What do you mean?
- COLLECTOR
- Zimbabwe is not the only place involved in this whole scheme.
- JACK
- Go on…
- COLLECTORS
- There are two more countries involved in this operation. All three have come together to form a coalition in an effort to expand their power across the continent.
- DUDLEY
- This is huge. What countries are involved?
- COLLECTOR
- Zimbabwe, Angola and the DRC. They each make their own contributions to the operation.
- JACK
- Give me details.
- COLLECTOR
- Get your notes ready ozzy. Angola contributes a large number of soldiers and weapons to the operation. The DRC serves as a central hub in the heart of the continent, and also uses significant amounts of it’s natural resources to fund the operation.
- JACK
- This is all extremely important. I need evidence, and I don’t think that a court will take your word for it. Where can I get hard evidence?
- COLLECTOR
- One time when I went to drop off some diamonds at Mugabe’s safe house, he said that he keeps in touch with other people who are in on the scheme through a private email network. They have exchanged hundreds of emails throughout the operation. He says that some of them have documents attached, showing information about who is involved, who is contributing what, and how the diamonds are being smuggled. From what I have heard, there is enough evidence on that computer to lock up everyone involved for a long time.
- JACK
- This is golden. Where is the safe house?
- COLLECTOR
- Hold on there, Croc Dundee! I don’t even know where the place is, and even if I did, you would need an army to get through it. There are hundreds of guards crawling all over the place!
- DUDLEY
- Great, we don’t even know where to go, and even we can’t handle that many goons.
- JACK
- No! I am not going to let them get away with this! There has to be a way to find out where that place is and get the evidence we need.
- Jack walks to the other side of the room in a frustrated manner. Dudley stands still staring and the ground and Daniel starts thinking.
- DANIEL
- I think I know how we might be able to find the place.
- JACK
- How?
- DANIEL
- (to collector)
- You said that Mugabe uses email to contact his buddies?
- COLLECTOR
- Yes.
- DANIEL
- Then he really is as dumb as buffalo shit. Dudley, do you still know a thing or two about hacking servers?
- DUDLEY
- (smiles)
- I like the way you think Daniel. I will go get my gear ready. (walks to back of room)
- JACK
- What are you doing? How is this going to help you?
- DANIEL
- A while ago, the government said that it was going to ‘monitor’ outgoing and incoming media from now on. They are censoring the internet.
- JACK
- How does this help you?
- DANIEl
- Every signal email, going in and out of Zimbabwe, is monitored by the government. If they see something they don’t like, they censor it. Even the president’s activities are monitored, separate to the civilian population of course, but a while ago Dudley found out where they monitor the politician’s emails.
- DUDLEY
- (comes back with backpack full of equipment)
- Yeah. It is about 90 kilometres from here.
- DANIEL
- When an email is monitored, the origin of that email is also sent to the people looking at them. If we are able to get inside the building and hack into the server, we will be able to find out where Mugabe has been sending his emails from, and I bet you they have been coming from his safe house.
- JACK
- This is great! Won’t it be heavily guarded?
- DUDLEY
- The government thinks that the civilians are too stupid to figure out where the place is, so they only have about a dozen guards on site. They are in for a nasty surprise.
- DANIEL
- We are going to do this now, under cover of darkness.
- JACK
- What about him?
- (looks at collector)
- DUDLEY
- Do you still have the Beretta I sold you?
- JACK
- (pulls out gun)
- Yeah.
- DUDLEY
- Watch him. If he tries anything funny, don’t hesitate to shoot.
- JACK
- Ok.
- (cocks gun and looks at collector)
- Good luck.
- Daniel and Dudley walk out of the shed and move to Dudley’s car.
- They start driving to the building.
- INT. DUDLEY’S CAR - NIGHT
- Dudley and Daniel and driving to the monitoring station.
- DANIEL
- Did you pack some suppressors?
- DUDLEY
- Yeah.
- (pulls one out of bag)
- Here you go.
- (hands Daniel suppressor)
- DANIEL
- What should we expect?
- DUDLEY
- There’s at least one mounted M60 outside the main entrance.
- (turns car)
- Last time I was there, I saw a dozen people guarding the place.
- DANIEL
- Ok. Here is the plan...
- Daniel and Dudley continue to drive the car to the building as they discuss what they are going to do.
- EXT. MONITORING STATION - NIGHT
- Daniel and Dudley creep up to the outside of the station through
- the bushes. It is not a pretty sight.
- DANIEL
- Quietly: Damn!
- DUDLEY
- There is no way we can go through the main entrance, especially with that big M60 guarding it.
- DANIEL
- Is there another way in?
- DUDLEY
- Over there.
- (points to side door)
- That will get us inside. Lets move and stay low.
- Daniel and Dudley move through the bushes avoiding the spotlights as they get to the side entrance. There are two soldiers guarding it.
- DANIEL
- On my mark, I take the one on the left, you get the one on the right.
- DUDLEY
- Ok.
- DANIEL
- Three, two, one.
- Daniel and Dudley fire their rifles and kill both guards at the same time. None of the others hear the shots. Daniel and Dudley quietly move out of the bushes and open the door to the building. They walk in, closing the door behind them.
- DUDLEY
- Now we have to find the server room, it will probably be on the bottom floor. Lets go.
- Daniel and Dudley walk down the stairs through the halls cautiously.
- The two get to the bottom floor to find no one inside. The servers are all on the opposite side of the room.
- DANIEL
- Now what bru?
- DUDLEY
- Now I have to get to work. Keep me covered and make sure no one comes down here.
- DANIEL
- Ok, but hurry. I don’t want to stick around here too long.
- Dudley sets up his computer and starts hacking into the server. He works on the computer for sixteen seconds before he finds something.
- DUDLEY
- Ok. I have good news and bad news. The good news is that the server has a list of all the politician’s internet activity, including Mugabe’s. The bad news is that they are not listed in a specific order, and there is no way for me to keyword search for Mugabe. It will take me a few minutes to find him.
- DANIEL
- Ok Dudley. Do your thing, I got your back.
- INT. MONITORING STATION SERVER ROOM - NIGHT
- Dudley is hacking the server while Daniel keeps guard.
- DANIEL
- How much longer bro?
- DUDLEY
- Two minutes at the most.
- DANIEL
- Ok.
- Daniel looks away and lets Dudley continue his work.
- DUDLEY
- What do we do once we find out where the safe house is? The collector said that the place is full of guards.
- DANIEL
- We sneak into the place at night, hack into Mugabe’s computer, copy his emails and gather the evidence we need. Hopefully without starting a firefight.
- DUDLEY
- Right. I am almost done, are we clear to go?
- Daniel looks around for a few seconds and then goes back to Dudley.
- DANIEL
- We’re good to go.
- DUDLEY
- (packs up equipment and talks to Daniel)
- I have the location of the safe house. It is two and a half hours from my shed.
- DANIEL
- Good. Once we get back to your place, we will go over the terrain and make our plan. Now let’s get out of here.
- Daniel and Dudley slowly make their way out of the complex and back into the bush.
- INT. DUDLEY’S SHED - LATE NIGHT
- Jack is still watching the collector when Daniel and Dudley come inside the shed to give Jack the news.
- JACK
- How did it go?
- DANIEL
- We know where to go and how we are going to get the information we need.
- JACK
- What is the plan?
- (sits down at table)
- DUDLEY
- We will wait until tomorrow night to infiltrate the compound. We will sneak into the building, grab the documents and give the evidence to the authorities. I have some contacts who will make sure that it gets to the right people.
- DANIEL
- Once Mugabe and the others are locked up, we can all go to Australia. Dudley will want to bring some of his weapons. A lot of these are antique guns. What are the laws like over there?
- JACK
- Terrible.
- DUDLEY
- That is ok, I know ways I can get my antiques over there.
- JACK
- This is great news. Is there anything I can do to help?
- DANIEL
- No, it is too risky for you to come with us. We can get the job done.
- JACK
- There has to be something I can do to help.
- Daniel thinks for a minute about this.
- DANIEL
- I think I know what you can do. Once we have the data we need, we will need to get out of there fast. You can drive us out of there.
- JACK
- Great, when do we go?
- DUDLEY
- We will head to the safe house tomorrow night.
- DANIEL
- Let’s start getting ready then.
- Jack, Daniel, and Dudley start to get all their equipment together to assault the safe house.
- EXT. ZIMBABWE SAFE HOUSE - NIGHT
- Dudley and Daniel creep up to the safe house through the bush.
- They move to a nearby window to enter the compound.
- DANIEL
- Ok, get on my shoulders and climb in.
- Dudley climbs into the safe house, and then pulls Daniel in.
- DUDlEY
- Where would Mugabe’s office be?
- DANIEL
- Let’s try this way.
- Dudley and Daniel move through the hall of the safe house, avoiding the patrols. They eventually come up on a room, that appears to be Mugabe’s office. Daniel and Dudley move up to check it out, Daniel opens the door, and it turns out to be Mugabe’s office.
- DANIEL
- Dudley, get on that computer and get the information.
- DUDLEY
- I’m on it.
- Dudley starts hacking into Mugabe’s computer, and Daniel keeps watch. We see Dudley plug a hard drive into the computer.
- DUDLEY
- This is a gold mine. There is enough evidence here for an air-tight case. I’m transferring the files now.
- We see a shot of the data transfer to Dudley’s hard drive.
- DANIEL
- (sees some guys coming down the hall)
- Damn! Dudley, we are about to have company. How long will the transfer take?
- DUDLEY
- There is a lot of info here. I need three more minutes.
- DANIEl
- (stressed)
- We don’t have three minutes!
- DUDLEY
- Hold them off! Shoot them before they get too close!
- Daniel screws on a suppressor to his rifle and opens the door just a crack. The two goons are arguing about something.
- Daniel quickly aims his gun at the first guy and shoots him. The other one quickly responds and starts to raise his gun.
- Daniel shoots him before he can open fire, but the man’s finger slips and pulls the trigger, letting off several rounds. An alarm starts to sound.
- DANIEL
- Shit! We are about to get a lot of contact.
- DUDLEY
- 1 1/2 minutes to go!
- Dudley looks out the window and sees twenty guards running to the entrance of the safe house. He looks back at the computer to see the progress.
- DUDLEY
- Get ready for hard contact! I’ll come and support you. We need to hold out for one minute.
- Dudley runs over to the door and kicks it open.
- The first three guards appear, and start to shoot at Daniel, and Dudley.
- Dudley throws a flash grenade down the hall. It explodes and blinds the three guards.
- Daniel shoots two of the guards, and Dudley gets the other with his pistol.
- Some more guards appear, and suppress Daniel, and Dudley.
- Daniel blind-fires at the guards and manages to kill one and wound another.
- DANIEl
- We can’t hold out much longer! Is that damn thing done?!
- DUDLEY
- Give me some cover!
- Daniel throws his frag grenade at the guards. It explodes, killing three, and sends shrapnel all over the place.
- Dudley runs over to the computer while the enemies are distracted and sees that the download is complete.
- DUDLEY
- We’re good to go! We need to get out of here!
- Daniel looks around the room and sees a window. He shoots the glass so that it is weaker.
- DANIEL
- Jump through the window! I’ve got your back!
- Dudley runs across the room and jumps through the window. Daniel follow him, and as he is driving through, a stray bullet hits Daniel in the left arm.
- DANIEl
- Shit! I’m hit!
- Dudley runs over to Daniel and helps him up.
- DUDLEY
- Run!
- The pair run through the complex as the guards try to shoot them. Bullets fly around the two as they make their escape. Daniel is clutching his left arm, and Dudley is running, and firing back.
- The two quickly make it to Jack waiting in the car.
- JACK
- What happened? Did you get the evidence?
- DUDLEY
- We got the stuff, but Daniel has been hit. Get us out of here!
- Jack starts driving away, as a mob of angry guards run towards the car.
- A car starts coming after the three, and the guards inside start shooting.
- Dudley quickly pulls out an RPG he brought from his shack and destroys the pursuing car.
- Everyone breathes a sigh of relief as they make their escape.
- DUDLEY
- We need to get back to my place fast. I can fix up Daniel there.
- We see the car driving off.
- INT. DUDLEY’S SHED - EARLY MORNING
- We see Dudley mending Daniel’s arm.
- DUDLEY
- Ok. That should be fine.
- JACK
- (looking at the evidence)
- This is amazing guys. There’s no way they will be able to escape justice now
- DANIEL
- Great, I will get my things in order, and help Dudley pack his stuff.
- We see shots of Daniel packing his things. He puts his pistol in his luggage, his clothes, his holster, some books, and a few other things.
- We see Dudley talking to someone, while another person loads some of Dudley’s weapons into a truck. He is having them smuggled into Australia. He goes back into his shack to pack up the last of his things and say goodbye.
- EXT. AIRPORT - EARLY MORNING
- We see the three guys getting off the plane at the airport in Perth. They walk into the lobby to grab a bite to eat, and then they head to baggage claim. While they are there, they see a news story on the TV.
- NEWS REPORTER
- A massive criminal cabal in Africa has been exposed. An Interpol task force has taken action against the main conspirators in the operation, with a number of officials in the militaries and governments of Angola and the DRC being arrested. The apparent leader of the operation, Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe, was also arrested. Mugabe was shot to death as he was being transported by a man who reportedly shouted, "Rhodesians never die!" as he gunned Mugabe down. Now over to Emma with the weather
- JACK
- Looks like justice has been served.
- DANIEl
- Yeah, about time too.
- The three take their bags, and walk out of the airport, as the screen fades to black.
