  1. LIBERATION
  2.
  3.
  4. Fade in:
  5.
  6. EXT. DIAMOND MINE - MIDDAY
  7. The camera pans over a diamond mine with slaves working in it and soldiers guarding it.
  8.
  9. SOLDIER 1
  10. Work faster! We don’t have all day!
  11.
  12. The people desperately try to work harder to stay alive, but they are all weak.
  13.
  14. SOLDIER 1
  15. Hey you! Get to work!
  16.
  17. A woman is too weak to work and is lying in the mud.
  18.
  19. SOLDIER 1
  20. Bring her up here now!
  21.
  22. Two soldiers go down into the mud and drag the woman up to the supervisor.
  23.
  24. SOLDIER 1
  25. This is what happens when you do not work!
  26.
  27. The soldier pulls out his gun, points it at the woman and as the woman is raising her head, he shoots her. Blood sprays onto some nearby dirt.

  31.
  32. JACK
  33. Mary, can you please come in.
  34.
  35.
  36.
  37. MARY
  38. Is something wrong Mr. Wilson?
  39.
  40. JACK
  41. Yes, there is something wrong. Have you heard about what’s going on in Zimbabwe?
  42.
  43. MARY
  44. Yes I do. It is horrible what is going on.
  45.
  46. JACK
  47. The UN keeps insisting that the Kimberly Process scheme is stopping the flow of conflict diamonds. But it’s doing nothing to stop these people.
  48.
  49. MARY
  50. I’m sure you will find a way to expose them, you always have.
  51.
  52. JACK
  53. Not this time. These people are covering their tracks well. I have no idea who exactly is involved or how many people, and I can’t find any concrete evidence to expose anyone.
  54.
  55. MARY
  56. So… what can you do?
  57.
  58. JACK
  59. If I can’t find the evidence here, I will find it there. I’m going to Africa to find out who is behind this.
  60.
  61. MARY
  62. You can’t! You could be killed!
  63.
  64. JACK
  65. I have to. If I don’t this won’t stop. It’s only a matter of time before this leads to an international crisis that will affect Australia. I might be able to find someone there that can help me. I am not going to sit by and watch these countries do this.
  66.
  67. MARY
  68. I have seen you do a lot of crazy things in your time Jack, but this is the most insane. Please return safely.
  69.
  70. JACK
  71. I’m coming back. With concrete evidence on these people. Can you please look after my dog while I am gone?
  72.
  73. MARY
  74. Ok. Where will you go When should I expect you to come back?
  75.
  76.
  77.
  78. JACK
  79. I am going to head to Zimbabwe, there is a lot of activity there at the moment. Give me at least one month. By then if I don’t have the evidence I will come back. Or I might be dead.
  80.
  81. EXT. AIRPORT - EVENING
  82. Jack boards the plane and flies to Zimbabwe. Once he arrives, he hires a car and drives to a hotel.
  83.
  84. INT. JACK’S HOTEL ROOM - NIGHT
  85. Jack unpacks his bags and sets up his computer. He finds a map of the area and marks some places he should go to find help. His first stop is the marketplace.
  86.
  87. EXT. ZIMBABWE MARKET - DAY
  88. Jack walks through the market looking at all the places to go and people to look for. He then spots some men that look like they might be able to help him.
  89.
  90. JACK
  91. Excuse me?
  92.
  93. The men turn and walk towards Jack.
  94.
  95. SMUGGLER 1
  96. What do you need bru?
  97.
  98. JACK
  99. My name is Jack Wilson. I’m a writer from Australia. I’m here to do some investigative reporting about the diamond trade in this region. You two looked like you might be able to help me
  100.
  101. Both of the men look at each other and then at Jack.
  102.
  103. SMUGGLER 2
  104. It’s best not to ask questions about that sort of thing around here ozzy.
  105.
  106. SMUGGLER 1
  107. It could get you into trouble.
  108.
  109. Jack looks at the two, and then realizes it.
  110.
  111. JACK
  112. You’re diamond smugglers, aren’t you?
  113.
  114. SMUGGLER 1
  115. Stay out of trouble bru.
  116.
  117.
  118.
  119. The two men walk away leaving Jack to try and find help elsewhere.
  120.
  121. INT. ZIMBABWE BAR - AFTERNOON
  122. Jack walks into a bar after a disappointing day of fact finding and trying to find help.
  123.
  124. JACK
  125. One tusker beer please.
  126.
  127. As the bartender prepares Jack’s drink, Jack looks around at all the other people in an attempt to find someone to help him. After looking around for about a minute, he sees a lone man in a corner having a drink.
  128.
  129. BARTENDER
  130. Here you go.
  131.
  132. JACK
  133. Thanks.
  134.
  135. Jack gets his drink and walks over to the man.
  136.
  137. JACK
  138. Mind if I sit down?
  139.
  140. The man gives Jack a quick look over before responding.
  141.
  142. DANIEL
  143. Go ahead man.
  144.
  145. JACK
  146. How’s life?
  147.
  148. DANIEL
  149. Who wants to know?
  150.
  151. JACK
  152. Jack Wilson
  153. (holds out hand)
  154.
  155. DANIEL
  156. Daniel Jacobs
  157. (shakes hand)
  158.
  159. DANIEL
  160. I’ve read about your work, Mr. Wilson. You seem quite good at what you do.
  161.
  162. JACK
  163. Thanks. I try to do my best. What about you?
  164.
  165.
  166.
  167. There is a pause. Daniel takes a big drink from his cup, looks at the table and then answers.
  168.
  169. DANIEL
  170. You could sey that I work with rocks.
  171.
  172. Jack looks right at Daniel
  173.
  174. JACK
  175. You’re a smuggler too?
  176.
  177. DANIEL
  178. Yup.
  179.
  180. JACK
  181. Do you realize what your work is doing?
  182.
  183. DANIEL
  184. I give them the diamonds, I get paid, so what? Who am I hurting?
  185.
  186. JACK
  187. The thousands of people working in mining fields and living under authoritarian rule.
  188.
  189. DANIEL
  190. What can I do about that? My father tried to save this country over 30 years ago in the Bush War and look at how that turned out.
  191.
  192. JACK
  193. You’re a smuggler, you have to know who these people are. Help me expose them.
  194.
  195. DANIEL
  196. Are you kidding? It would be easier to find a needle in a haystack the size of Egypt.
  197.
  198. JACK
  199. Please help me, if we work together, we can find evidence to put these people away.
  200.
  201. DANIEL
  202. Sorry bru, but I like my life and I’m not about to risk it for your personal crusade. Goodbye.
  203. (walks out of bar)
  204.
  205. JACK

  207.
  208.

  214. (picks up phone)
  215. Hello?
  216.
  217. SCRAMBLED VOICE
  218. We have some more product for you to collect. By now you should have received a map with the location you need to go to. Proceed to the location, get the rocks and smuggle them out of the country.
  219.
  220. Daniel hangs up the phone and looks over a map, circling his destination with a pen.
  221.
  222. EXT. MINING CAMP - MORNING

  227.
  228. DANIEL
  229. (looks up)
  230. Yeah
  231.
  232. Daniel walks to the soldier as the slaves look up at him.
  233.
  234. SOLDIER 3
  235. Here is the stuff
  236. (hands Daniel a bag of diamonds)
  237.
  238. DANIEL
  239. Alright.
  240.
  241. A woman suddenly jumps at one of the other soldiers while he is distracted.
  242.
  243. SOLDIER 2
  244. Get off me you stupid piece of filth!
  245. (hits woman on the head)
  246.
  247. SLAVE 1
  248. Please don’t-
  249. (woman gets shot)
  250.
  251.
  252.
  253. Daniel looks at the mangled body of the woman in horror.
  254.
  255. SOLDIER 3
  256. Hey man wake up! Get those rocks out of here.
  257.
  258. DANIEL
  259. Right.

  268.
  269. DANIEL
  270. Right, here they are.
  271. (hands collector diamonds)
  272.
  273. COLLECTOR
  274. Good. Here is your payment.
  275. (hands Daniel a package)
  276.
  277. DANIEL
  278. Thanks.
  279.
  280. INT. DANIEL’S APARTMENT - NIGHT
  281. Daniel is haunted by what he saw at the diamond mine. He is flipping through an old photo album with pictures of his father. He looks off into the distance, wondering what his father would think of him now.
  282.
  283. DANIEL
  284. I can’t keep doing this, I’m going to stop them.
  285. (Looks at photo of father in military uniform)
  286. For you.
  287.
  288. INT. ZIMBABWE BAR - DAY

  294.
  295. JACK
  296. Hi Daniel, I never thought I would see you again.
  297.
  298. DANIEL
  299. Me too. I need to talk to you.
  300.
  301.
  302.
  303. JACK
  304. What about?
  305.
  306. DANIEL

  308.
  309. Jack sits up.
  310.
  311. JACK
  312. Ok, go on.
  313.
  314. DANIEL
  315. While I was there, I saw innocent people being killed and brutalised by soldiers hired to guard the camps. They were slaves. While I do enjoy the money I get from this, freedom is more important, and I can’t continue to dishonour my father’s memory. I can’t help these people anymore. I’m going to help you.
  316.
  317. JACK
  318. I’m glad you have had a change of heart. What do we do first?
  319.
  320. DANIEL
  321. Do you have a gun?
  322.
  323. JACK
  324. I didn’t know I was going on the front lines.
  325.
  326. DANIEL
  327. You’re not, but these people are very powerful. If they find out who you are, they will stop at nothing to make you disappear. You need to be able to protect yourself. Come on, let’s go. (Gets up with Jack)
  328.
  329. JACK
  330. Where are we going?

  353.
  354. COLLECTOR
  355. Yes sir.
  356. (walks out of safe house)
  357.

  365.
  366. JACK
  367. 950 Australian dollars.
  368.
  369. DANIEL
  370. Good. You will be able to buy just about anything for that. (they both enter the shed)
  371.
  372. DUDLEY
  373. (turns around)
  374.
  375. Good to see ya again Daniel. Looks like you brought a friend too.
  376.
  377. DANIEL
  378. Yeah. He is here to buy something.
  379.
  380. DUDLEY
  381. (to Jack)
  382. Ok, let’s see how much you have.
  383.
  384. JACK
  385. Sure.
  386. (pulls out money)
  387.
  388. DUDLEY
  389. (whistles)
  390. Looks like you want something special. Wait here.
  391. (walks to the back of the shed)
  392.
  393.
  394.
  395. JACK
  396. (Quietly)
  397. Can we trust him?
  398.
  399. DANIEL
  400. I have known Dudley my whole life. He doesn’t sell to the soldiers, and we have both saved each other more than once. He is one of the few trustworthy people around here.
  401.
  402. JACK
  403. Alright.
  404.
  405. DUDLEY
  406. (walks back to Jack and Daniel)
  407. This is best thing you can get.
  408. (shows Jack a Beretta 92)
  409. Comes with five 15 round magazines and a holster.
  410.
  411. JACK
  412. Thanks.
  413.
  414. DUDLEY
  415. Come see me if you ever need more ammo.
  416.
  417. DANIEL
  418. See ye around Dudley.
  419. (the two walk out)
  420.
  421. JACK
  422. Ok, now that I am sorted what do we do?
  423.
  424. DANIEL
  425. Before we can expose these people, we need to force their hand.
  426.
  427. JACK
  428. How do you plan on doing that?
  429.
  430. DANIEL
  431. I’m going to free those people at the diamond camp I was at the other day. It will force them to take action against whoever is responsible. It could allow you to find out who they are and get evidence.
  432.
  433. JACK
  434. Are you sure you can do it alone?
  435.
  436. DANIEL
  437. Thanks for offering, but I’m not sure this is the sort of work for a journalist.
  438.
  439.
  440.
  441. EXT. MINING CAMP - AFTERNOON
  442.
  443. Daniel has arrived at the camp and is getting ready to begin the attack.

  446.
  447. Daniel creeps into the camp from behind the bushes and gets to work.
  448.
  449. He sets down an explosive charge behind the two guards sitting down and then proceeds to hide behind a small bush.
  450.
  451. A guard drags a man out of the water and prepares to shoot him.
  452.
  453. DANIEl
  454. Not this time
  455. (sets off explosive)
  456.
  457. There is an explosion behind the two guards and dust is kicked into the air.
  458.
  459. Daniel pulls out his 1911 and uses it to kill one of the guards.
  460.
  461. The other three guards jump into the water and use the mud piles as cover.
  462.
  463. Daniel hits the dirt as the guards unleash a frenzy of bullets at him. he finds cover behind a large rock.
  464.
  465. He lines up one of the soldiers and shoots him.
  466.
  467. One of the guards goes crazy, pulls out a machete and runs at Daniel. After quickly reloading Daniel shoots the guard before he can get too close.
  468.
  469. The last guard shoots at Daniel and forces him into cover. As he shoots, he runs for his car and drives away.
  470.
  471. Daniel gets out of cover and breathes a sigh of relief.
  472.
  473. DANIEL
  474. You are all free! Get out of here before they come back!
  475.

  484. (to guards outside room)
  485. I need to see him now!
  486.
  487. One of the guards opens the door and lets the him in.
  488.
  489. ROBERT MUGABE
  490. What is it? Why are you here?
  491.
  492. SOLDIER 3
  493. Some dude came out of nowhere and attacked our camp! He killed three of my men and nearly got me!
  494.
  495. ROBERT MUGABE
  496. Did you see who did this?
  497.
  498. SOLDIER 3
  499. I was too busy shootin back at teh bastard!
  500.
  501. ROBERT MUGABE
  502. I see. I want this rat found and killed! I’m putting you in charge. Find this man and send a message to anyone that would defy me, commander.
  503.
  504. COMMANDER
  505. Thanks boss! When I find this worm, I’m gonna cut his throat!
  506.
  507. The commander walks out of the room and Mugabe looks out the window.
  508.

  511.
  512. JACK
  513. (pulls gun out of drawer)
  514. Who is it?
  515.
  516. Jack walks slowly to the door to find a note in front of the door on the floor. He picks it up and reads it. “Meet me at Dudley’s place tonight. -Daniel.”
  517.
  518. JACK
  519. (puts down note)
  520. I hope this is good news.
  521.
  522. INT. DUDLEY’S SHED - NIGHT
  523. Jack walks into Dudley’s shed to find Daniel talking to Dudley about the attack on the mining camp.
  524.
  525.
  526.
  527. JACK
  528. (walks over to Daniel)
  529. How did it go? Are you ok?
  530.
  531. DANIEL
  532. I’m fine. I got all but one of the guards and the people are free. Now we have to wait. I don’t think the survivor saw my face, but only three smugglers, myself included, went to that camp. Eventually, they are gonna figure out it was me.
  533.
  534. JACK
  535. What do we do then? There is no way we could go up against an army by ourselves.
  536.
  537. DANIEl
  538. We go into hiding. We will have to keep a low profile for the rest of this mission. if we are lucky, we will get the incriminating evidence you need.
  539.
  540. DUDLEY
  541. There was also something else we wanted to ask you about.
  542.
  543. JACK
  544. What is it? If you want to be paid I can take care of it.
  545.
  546. DUDLEY
  547. When this is all over, and you have your evidence, we want to go back with you to Australia.
  548.
  549. JACK
  550. Why? if we take care of these people you will have nothing to worry about.
  551.
  552. DANIEL
  553. Even if we succeed, there are powerful people that will want us dead. We can’t afford to stay here if we want to survive.
  554.
  555. DUDLEY
  556. What do you say?
  557.
  558. JACK
  559. If this does work, and we put these people away, I will never be able to thank you enough. It will be difficult, but I will get you into Australia.
  560.
  561.
  562.
  563. DANIEL
  564. Good. The soldiers don’t know where this shed is, so Dudley is going to let us use it as a base for the duration of the operation. I have already moved my things to this shed. Go back to your hotel and bring all your belongings here.
  565.
  566. JACK
  567. Ok. I will be back in an hour or so.
  568. (walks out of shed)

  571. Daniel wakes up Jack so he can capture a big piece of evidence before it slips away.
  572.
  573. DANIEL
  574. Hey, wake up!
  575.
  576. JACK
  577. (sits up in cot)
  578. What is it?
  579.
  580. DANIEL
  581. Grab your camera and your notepad. You are gonna want to get this.
  582.
  583. JACK
  584. What happened
  585.
  586. DANIEL
  587. Let’s just say you should be glad you got your stuff out of the hotel when you did. Now come!
  588.
  589. JACK
  590. This can’t be good.
  591. (gets out of bed)
  592.
  593. EXT. OUTSIDE ZIMBABWE HOTEL - MORNING
  594. Jack and Daniel have snuck up to the hotel to see what is going on.
  595.
  596. JACK
  597. (creeping up through the bushes with Jack)
  598. What is going on here? Why are they going into the hotel?
  599.
  600. DANIEL
  601. Quiet down! I don’t know why, but take some photos. Look at those cars.
  602.
  603.
  604.
  605. Daniel points at some black cars outside the hotel, closing it off to civilians. The cars have government markings on them.
  606.
  607. JACK
  608. (takes a photo)
  609. Ok, how does this help my investigation?
  610.
  611. DANIEl
  612. Look at the man outside the building, take a photo of him. (points to familiar figure in black suit)
  613.
  614. JACK
  615. (takes photo of strange man)
  616. What is so important about him?
  617.
  618. DANIEL
  619. That is the same guy that survived my attack on the mining camp.
  620.
  621. JACK
  622. Oh my, this means that-
  623.
  624. DANIEL
  625. It means that whoever is involved in this knows who you are, and they’re looking for you.
  626.
  627. JACK
  628. Is there anything else I need to know before we leave?
  629.
  630. DANIEL
  631. Before you got here, that guy announced that a ‘dangerous armed individual’ is being looked for.
  632.
  633. JACK
  634. (looks at Daniel)
  635.
  636. DANIEL
  637. They know that I was the one who hit the camp. They must have talked to the other smugglers already. I can’t go back into the town anymore, it is too risky. Dudley will have to get our food and supplies for us.
  638.
  639. JACK
  640. Ok. This is a good start. Now that we know that the government is involved, we need to find out who exactly is connected to it.
  641.
  642.
  643.
  644. DANIEL
  645. Luckily for you, I know someone that might be able to help us.
  646. Let’s get out of here.
  647. (Daniel and Jack creep back into the bush)
  648.
  649. INT. DUDLEY’S SHED - DAY
  650. Daniel, Jack and Dudley talk about their plan to capture the diamond collector.
  651.
  652. DUDLEY
  653. How do you want to do this?
  654.
  655. DANIEL
  656. We will ambush him while he is driving to his drop off point. From there, we will bring him back here and question him. He will have guards, so this is a job for me and Dudley only.
  657.
  658. JACK
  659. There has to be something I can do to help. At least let me come with you for backup.
  660.
  661. DANIEL
  662. No. If you die, then any chance of these people being exposed will be lost. Stay here and get your questions ready.
  663.
  664. JACK
  665. Very well
  666. (walks over to table)
  667.
  668. DUDLEY
  669. How many guys should we expect, and what would they be packing?
  670.
  671. DANIEL
  672. Expect at least eight guys. They will probably be armed with the standard setup: AKs, grenades and maybe a mounted gun.
  673.
  674. DUDLEY
  675. I will get our stuff ready. When do we leave?
  676.
  677. DANIEL
  678. Tomorrow at midday. Grab an extra magazine before we go. You will probably need it.
  679.
  680. EXT. DIRT PATH - MIDDAY
  681.
  682. TEXT:
  683. “The next day. Midday”
  684.
  685.
  686.
  687. COLLECTOR
  688. How much further until we get to the location?
  689.
  690. SOLDIER 2
  691. 60 kilometres
  692.
  693. COLLECTOR
  694. (swears under breath)
  695.
  696. SOLDIER 4
  697. Stop the car!
  698.
  699. SOLDIER 3
  700. What is it man?! We have to get to the camp!
  701.
  702. SOLDIER 4
  703. Look at de log blockin the path. We got to move it.
  704.
  705. SOLDIER 3
  706. Fine. But lez make it quik.
  707.
  708. Both soldiers get out of the car and go to the log and start pushing. When they make a big push, they uncover a mine and it goes off, killing them. Dudley and Daniel then start shooting at the car.
  709.
  710. COLLECTOR
  711. Oh damn!
  712. (gets out of car and runs into bushes)
  713.
  714. DANIEL
  715. Careful we need him alive!
  716.
  717. Six more soldiers get out of the car and start shooting at them.
  718.
  719. SOLDIER 2
  720. Gut de bastards!
  721.
  722. Dudley shoots and kills two more soldiers trying to get around the log.
  723.
  724. One of the soldiers pulls a grenade out of his pocket, pulls the pin, but before he can throw it, Daniel shoots him. The grenade drops to the ground and goes off, killing another nearby soldier.
  725.
  726. SOLDIER 3
  727. To hell with this! I’m out of here!
  728.
  729.
  730.
  731. DANIEL
  732. Don’t let them escape!
  733.
  734. DUDLEY
  735. I’m on it.
  736.
  737. Dudley shoots and kills the soldier that is running away.
  738.
  739. The final mook starts to charge at Daniel and Dudley with two grenades in his hand, but Daniel shoots him before he can get close. Then there is silence.
  740.
  741. COLLECTOR
  742. Daniel! I know it’s you! Stop this now and I won’t tell my superiors! Where are you?
  743.
  744. DANIEl
  745. Quietly: Do you have him lined up?
  746.
  747. DUDLEY
  748. Yup.
  749.
  750. DANIEL
  751. Take him.
  752.
  753. Dudley shoots the collector with a tranquilizer. The collector pulls the needle out of his side, and then collapses.
  754.
  755. DANIEl
  756. Let’s get him out of here before more of them show up.
  757.
  758. Daniel and Dudley move out of cover to get the collector back to Dudley’s shed. They put him in a nearby car and drive away.
  759.
  760. INT. DUDLEY’S SHED - EVENING
  761. Daniel and Dudley have brought the collector back to the shed for questioning. he is tied to a chair.
  762.
  763. DANIEl
  764. Wake up!
  765.
  766. COLLECTOR
  767. What? Why are you doing this? Release me!
  768.
  769. DUDLEY
  770. You are going nowhere. My friend here has some questions for you. (points to Jack)
  771.
  772. COLLECTOR
  773. What do you want pretty boy?
  774.
  775. JACK
  776. Who is running the illegal diamond operation here in Zimbabwe?
  777.
  778. COLLECTOR
  779. I am not telling you jack.
  780.
  781. DANIEL
  782. (grabs collector)
  783. If you want to live, you better tell him, huh! If you don’t, I will break every bone in your body, and then I’ll leave you to fry in the desert!
  784. (throws collector down)
  785. Now tell him!
  786. (hits collector)
  787.
  788. COLLECTOR
  789. (spits out blood)
  790. If I tell you *Breathing*, you have to protect me.
  791.
  792. DUDLEY
  793. If you tell us what we want to know, we won’t kill you and we won’t let anyone else kill you either. Speak up.
  794.
  795. COLLECTOR
  796. (looks at Jack)
  797. Ya got ur notepad ready ozzy?
  798.
  799. JACK
  800. Spill it.
  801.
  802. There is a pause as the collector nervously looks around the room.
  803.
  804. COLLECTOR
  805. The man in charge of the operation in Zimbabwe is Mugabe.
  806.
  807. DANIEL
  808. (looks at collector with a flippant expression)
  809. Yeah, tell us something we don’t know.
  810.
  811. COLLECTOR
  812. That is only the tip of the anthill.
  813.
  814. JACK
  815. What do you mean?
  816.
  817.
  818.
  819. COLLECTOR
  820. Zimbabwe is not the only place involved in this whole scheme.
  821.
  822. JACK
  823. Go on…
  824.
  825. COLLECTORS
  826. There are two more countries involved in this operation. All three have come together to form a coalition in an effort to expand their power across the continent.
  827.
  828. DUDLEY
  829. This is huge. What countries are involved?
  830.
  831. COLLECTOR
  832. Zimbabwe, Angola and the DRC. They each make their own contributions to the operation.
  833.
  834. JACK
  835. Give me details.
  836.
  837. COLLECTOR
  838. Get your notes ready ozzy. Angola contributes a large number of soldiers and weapons to the operation. The DRC serves as a central hub in the heart of the continent, and also uses significant amounts of it’s natural resources to fund the operation.
  839.
  840. JACK
  841. This is all extremely important. I need evidence, and I don’t think that a court will take your word for it. Where can I get hard evidence?
  842.
  843. COLLECTOR
  844. One time when I went to drop off some diamonds at Mugabe’s safe house, he said that he keeps in touch with other people who are in on the scheme through a private email network. They have exchanged hundreds of emails throughout the operation. He says that some of them have documents attached, showing information about who is involved, who is contributing what, and how the diamonds are being smuggled. From what I have heard, there is enough evidence on that computer to lock up everyone involved for a long time.
  845.
  846.
  847.
  848. JACK
  849. This is golden. Where is the safe house?
  850.
  851. COLLECTOR
  852. Hold on there, Croc Dundee! I don’t even know where the place is, and even if I did, you would need an army to get through it. There are hundreds of guards crawling all over the place!
  853.
  854. DUDLEY
  855. Great, we don’t even know where to go, and even we can’t handle that many goons.
  856.
  857. JACK
  858. No! I am not going to let them get away with this! There has to be a way to find out where that place is and get the evidence we need.
  859.
  860. Jack walks to the other side of the room in a frustrated manner. Dudley stands still staring and the ground and Daniel starts thinking.
  861.
  862. DANIEL
  863. I think I know how we might be able to find the place.
  864.
  865. JACK
  866. How?
  867.
  868. DANIEL
  869. (to collector)
  870. You said that Mugabe uses email to contact his buddies?
  871.
  872. COLLECTOR
  873. Yes.
  874.
  875. DANIEL
  876. Then he really is as dumb as buffalo shit. Dudley, do you still know a thing or two about hacking servers?
  877.
  878. DUDLEY
  879. (smiles)
  880. I like the way you think Daniel. I will go get my gear ready. (walks to back of room)
  881.
  882. JACK
  883. What are you doing? How is this going to help you?
  884.
  885.
  886.
  887. DANIEL
  888. A while ago, the government said that it was going to ‘monitor’ outgoing and incoming media from now on. They are censoring the internet.
  889.
  890. JACK
  891. How does this help you?
  892.
  893. DANIEl
  894. Every signal email, going in and out of Zimbabwe, is monitored by the government. If they see something they don’t like, they censor it. Even the president’s activities are monitored, separate to the civilian population of course, but a while ago Dudley found out where they monitor the politician’s emails.
  895.
  896. DUDLEY
  897. (comes back with backpack full of equipment)
  898. Yeah. It is about 90 kilometres from here.
  899.
  900. DANIEL
  901. When an email is monitored, the origin of that email is also sent to the people looking at them. If we are able to get inside the building and hack into the server, we will be able to find out where Mugabe has been sending his emails from, and I bet you they have been coming from his safe house.
  902.
  903. JACK
  904. This is great! Won’t it be heavily guarded?
  905.
  906. DUDLEY
  907. The government thinks that the civilians are too stupid to figure out where the place is, so they only have about a dozen guards on site. They are in for a nasty surprise.
  908.
  909. DANIEL
  910. We are going to do this now, under cover of darkness.
  911.
  912. JACK
  913. What about him?
  914. (looks at collector)
  915.
  916. DUDLEY
  917. Do you still have the Beretta I sold you?
  918.
  919.
  920.
  921. JACK
  922. (pulls out gun)
  923. Yeah.
  924.
  925. DUDLEY
  926. Watch him. If he tries anything funny, don’t hesitate to shoot.
  927.
  928. JACK
  929. Ok.
  930. (cocks gun and looks at collector)
  931. Good luck.
  932.
  933. Daniel and Dudley walk out of the shed and move to Dudley’s car.
  934.
  935. They start driving to the building.
  936.
  937. INT. DUDLEY’S CAR - NIGHT
  938. Dudley and Daniel and driving to the monitoring station.
  939.
  940. DANIEL
  941. Did you pack some suppressors?
  942.
  943. DUDLEY
  944. Yeah.
  945. (pulls one out of bag)
  946. Here you go.
  947. (hands Daniel suppressor)
  948.
  949. DANIEL
  950. What should we expect?
  951.
  952. DUDLEY
  953. There’s at least one mounted M60 outside the main entrance.
  954. (turns car)
  955. Last time I was there, I saw a dozen people guarding the place.
  956.
  957. DANIEL
  958. Ok. Here is the plan...
  959.
  960. Daniel and Dudley continue to drive the car to the building as they discuss what they are going to do.
  961.
  962. EXT. MONITORING STATION - NIGHT
  963. Daniel and Dudley creep up to the outside of the station through
  964. the bushes. It is not a pretty sight.
  965.
  966.
  967.
  968. DANIEL
  969. Quietly: Damn!
  970.
  971. DUDLEY
  972. There is no way we can go through the main entrance, especially with that big M60 guarding it.
  973.
  974. DANIEL
  975. Is there another way in?
  976.
  977. DUDLEY
  978. Over there.
  979. (points to side door)
  980. That will get us inside. Lets move and stay low.
  981.
  982. Daniel and Dudley move through the bushes avoiding the spotlights as they get to the side entrance. There are two soldiers guarding it.
  983.
  984. DANIEL
  985. On my mark, I take the one on the left, you get the one on the right.
  986.
  987. DUDLEY
  988. Ok.
  989.
  990. DANIEL
  991. Three, two, one.
  992.
  993. Daniel and Dudley fire their rifles and kill both guards at the same time. None of the others hear the shots. Daniel and Dudley quietly move out of the bushes and open the door to the building. They walk in, closing the door behind them.
  994.
  995. DUDLEY
  996. Now we have to find the server room, it will probably be on the bottom floor. Lets go.
  997.
  998. Daniel and Dudley walk down the stairs through the halls cautiously.
  999.
1000. The two get to the bottom floor to find no one inside. The servers are all on the opposite side of the room.
  1001.
  1002. DANIEL
  1003. Now what bru?
  1004.
  1005. DUDLEY
1006. Now I have to get to work. Keep me covered and make sure no one comes down here.
  1007.
  1008.
  1009.
  1010. DANIEL
1011. Ok, but hurry. I don’t want to stick around here too long.
  1012.
1013. Dudley sets up his computer and starts hacking into the server. He works on the computer for sixteen seconds before he finds something.
  1014.
  1015. DUDLEY
1016. Ok. I have good news and bad news. The good news is that the server has a list of all the politician’s internet activity, including Mugabe’s. The bad news is that they are not listed in a specific order, and there is no way for me to keyword search for Mugabe. It will take me a few minutes to find him.
  1017.
  1018. DANIEL
1019. Ok Dudley. Do your thing, I got your back.
  1020.
  1021.
1022. INT. MONITORING STATION SERVER ROOM - NIGHT
1023. Dudley is hacking the server while Daniel keeps guard.
  1024.
  1025. DANIEL
  1026. How much longer bro?
  1027.
  1028. DUDLEY
1029. Two minutes at the most.
  1030.
  1031. DANIEL
  1032. Ok.
  1033.
1034. Daniel looks away and lets Dudley continue his work.
  1035.
  1036. DUDLEY
1037. What do we do once we find out where the safe house is? The collector said that the place is full of guards.
  1038.
  1039. DANIEL
1040. We sneak into the place at night, hack into Mugabe’s computer, copy his emails and gather the evidence we need. Hopefully without starting a firefight.
  1041.
  1042. DUDLEY
1043. Right. I am almost done, are we clear to go?
  1044.
1045. Daniel looks around for a few seconds and then goes back to Dudley.
  1046.
  1047. DANIEL
  1048. We’re good to go.
  1049.
  1050.
  1051.
  1052. DUDLEY
1053. (packs up equipment and talks to Daniel)
1054. I have the location of the safe house. It is two and a half hours from my shed.
  1055.
  1056. DANIEL
1057. Good. Once we get back to your place, we will go over the terrain and make our plan. Now let’s get out of here.
  1058.
1059. Daniel and Dudley slowly make their way out of the complex and back into the bush.
  1060.
  1061. INT. DUDLEY’S SHED - LATE NIGHT
1062. Jack is still watching the collector when Daniel and Dudley come inside the shed to give Jack the news.
  1063.
  1064. JACK
  1065. How did it go?
  1066.
  1067. DANIEL
1068. We know where to go and how we are going to get the information we need.
  1069.
  1070. JACK
  1071. What is the plan?
  1072. (sits down at table)
  1073.
  1074. DUDLEY
1075. We will wait until tomorrow night to infiltrate the compound. We will sneak into the building, grab the documents and give the evidence to the authorities. I have some contacts who will make sure that it gets to the right people.
  1076.
  1077. DANIEL
1078. Once Mugabe and the others are locked up, we can all go to Australia. Dudley will want to bring some of his weapons. A lot of these are antique guns. What are the laws like over there?
  1079.
  1080. JACK
  1081. Terrible.
  1082.
  1083. DUDLEY
1084. That is ok, I know ways I can get my antiques over there.
  1085.
  1086. JACK
1087. This is great news. Is there anything I can do to help?
  1088.
  1089.
  1090.
  1091. DANIEL
1092. No, it is too risky for you to come with us. We can get the job done.
  1093.
  1094. JACK
1095. There has to be something I can do to help.
  1096.
1097. Daniel thinks for a minute about this.
  1098.
  1099. DANIEL
1100. I think I know what you can do. Once we have the data we need, we will need to get out of there fast. You can drive us out of there.
  1101.
  1102. JACK
1103. Great, when do we go?
  1104.
  1105. DUDLEY
1106. We will head to the safe house tomorrow night.
  1107.
  1108. DANIEL
1109. Let’s start getting ready then.
  1110.
1111. Jack, Daniel, and Dudley start to get all their equipment together to assault the safe house.
  1112.
1113. EXT. ZIMBABWE SAFE HOUSE - NIGHT
1114. Dudley and Daniel creep up to the safe house through the bush.
  1115.
1116. They move to a nearby window to enter the compound.
  1117.
  1118. DANIEL

1129. Dudley and Daniel move through the hall of the safe house, avoiding the patrols. They eventually come up on a room, that appears to be Mugabe’s office. Daniel and Dudley move up to check it out, Daniel opens the door, and it turns out to be Mugabe’s office.

  1145.

  1217.
  1218. DUDLEY
  1219. Run!
  1220.
1221. The pair run through the complex as the guards try to shoot them. Bullets fly around the two as they make their escape. Daniel is clutching his left arm, and Dudley is running, and firing back.
