  1. Oh, hm.
  2.
  3. With that man standing right over there.. it might actually be not necessary for him to look around for any sort of medical book; instead, all that he might need is just ask. With Reina in town, he approaches closer to Osric.
  4.
  5. "Greetings."
  6.
  7. Of course he had to be polite. With a tiny bow of his head and a pause between his words, he speaks out.
  8.
  9. "I was looking to study for advanced knowledge in the field of medicine. I already know plenty, and to not bother you, I'd like to borrow some notes or a book - which I'd return later."
  10.
  11. "Do you think that's possible?"
  12. (Nerin)
  13.
  14. Standing upon a pulpit, Osric seemed to not in the middle of terribly much. Shuffling a few papers around, pen in hand, it seems he was preparing a sermon--or something similar, at least.
  15.
  16. At the grand door's opening comes a flicker of his gaze to Nerin and Reina, a soft nod of welcome given to both.
  17.
  18. "Please, do visit our library. It contains much on medicine and aid." Even, if they so chose, holistic remedies! "Right wing, first door on your left. If you must take a book, do let the attendant know."
  19.
  20. Much of the library is religious texts, few magical, but if they sifted around a good deal of contemporary medical papers can be found.
  21.
  22. "Let me know if you run into trouble."
  23. (Osric Durai)
  24.
  25. How convenient.
  26.
  27. For the future reference, he definitely keeps this in mind; to an extent, he almost expected some sort of payment to be required, or a donation, or.. well, you know, maybe he actually had a very wrong perception on this one. Right, so the right wing, first door on his left, hm.
  28.
  29. "Thank you."
  30.
  31. "And I will."
  32.
  33. A brief response to the words that Osric offered, and with another small bow of his head, already he was heading towards the right wing; one to his own right, of course, and hopefully he didn't get it wrong.
  34.
  35. No point in bothering the man any further.
  36. (Nerin)
  37.
  38. Just when one thought she was going to get nagged out of the church, The priest appeared to have been.. Rather calm and relaxed. A breath of relaxation was heard from the drakanite knight as she glanced over to Nerin, then to the holy man himself. Finally beginning to get some words in.
  39.
  40. "Thank you, Brother. My companion here was interested in treatment for the ill and wounded, so I insisted we seek out the church. Since you're normally the ones that keep us knights in one piece."
  41.
  42. Giving a bow of her head, Reina reached into the coin purse stuffed within the depths of her satchel. Pulling out a few crowns and offering them out to the holy man himself.
  43.
  44. "This is not much, but take this as a donation for your time. I'm sure there's less-fortunate out there that need this more than me."
  45.
  46. Good deed for the day, she resumed following Nerin after giving Osric a wave of her hand as she departed.
  47. (Reina Volusena)
  48.
  49. Osric makes soft, slow steps to the knight.
  50.
  51. "Your generosity is appreciated. May the stars bless you on your path forward."
  52.
  53. The High Priest's head dips low and deep out of appreciation.
  54.
  55. "May you find what you seek."
  56. (Osric Durai)
  57.
  58. Well.. unfortunately, Nerin wasn't quite rich enough to be giving out such charity. Sure, he could spare a few coins if he really searched, but otherwise he had a lot of his own troubles to take care of - the troubles that keep popping up daily in his life, the troubles that would be, quite literally, inevitable. Then again.. he's sure that the church understands that much.
  59.
  60. Maybe.
  61.
  62. The first thing he notes is the fact that there are so many books around, right after walking in- he can't help himself, and his eyes stray away all over, almost like failing to assess just how many are around here. Of course, before anything, he warns the attendant.
  63.
  64. "Um.. I'll be taking the books related to medicine for a bit. It won't be long, I'll study in the library, thank you."
  65.
  66. An exchange of nods, and already he begins searching all across the library. There's no telling just how many are here, really.. and maybe there might be just way too much for him to handle in one sitting - or one night. But he's always a determined one, and considering that he's a magi, surely exhaustion won't be of a trouble to him.
  67.
  68. Not that much, probably.
  69.
  70. "Well, Reina.."
  71.
  72. "Just to let you know, I'm looking for anything related to surgery and advanced treatment. I already know the basics."
  73.
  74. "That's in case you want to help me look for extra books, that is."
  75.
  76. Without a further word, he already begins searching about. After all, these books won't find themselves.
  77. (Nerin)
  78.
  79. Oh boy, Books and MORE books. This was actually the first time Reina took a trip into the depths of the church library. She even felt a tad improperly dressed, glancing over at the rows and rows of book shelves. Emitting a mild 'oooh' sound.
  80.
  81. She had her own collection of books, but those were dedicated to the art of war and wise generals who lived long enough to write on their trials and combat. Her will to squeal like a little girl was high, but she fought through as she looked over to Nerin.
  82.
  83. "I believe our ideas are the same, I'm familiar with the basics on tending to combat wounds. But I never know the time when I may need to do more. Thankfully we can kill two birds with one stone in a single study trip."
  84.
  85. An approving nod was given, marching over to her own section of bookshelves as the two split up. Gathering up anything to 'medical surgery and treatment' as she may. Even likely sneaking herself out a book on DEALINGWITH BOYS- No. Just one which was likely based around occultic magics. For future sakes.
  86.
  87. "I'll speak very very quiet if I find something." She hissed over from her section of the library.
  88. (Reina Volusena)
  89.
  90. A brief moment of consideration, and eventually, he darts to a peculiar section in the library - obviously intended for the medical practice and all knowledge related to it. There's no telling just how many books he'd have to skip through, but.. you can't really cook omelettes without cracking eggs, right?
  91.
  92. It's time to get started.
  93.
  94. "Mm. I'll let you know if I find anything."
  95.
  96. First, the application of advanced surgery, then the treatment of various illnesses, and more, and more... as much as he'd rather not spend the time in the library too much, part of him feels that he'll actually have to stick around for a very, very long time. Ugh, what a drag..
  97.
  98. A sigh escaping him, he took on several books.
  99.
  100. But it doesn't end there. With so many more appearing, he's more than certain he'd need as much expertise on the bodily functions as possible- with him being the budding Biomancer, this knowledge is more than useful. In fact, it's necessity if anything.
  101.
  102. "I think I found some.."
  103.
  104. He shoots a brief glance over to Reina, then speaks out, quiet enough- but also loud enough for her to hear it.
  105.
  106. "Here, check this out."
  107.
  108. And then he shows her the impressive size of all the books he's stockpiled. It seems they'll be studying for a while.
  109. (Nerin)
  110.
  111. Digging through her own collection, Reina was encountering junk here and there. Human anatomy? Nah. Drakanite anatomy? Hit her up with that. She collected both books anyway, simple to ensure they don't miss anything special.
  112.
  113. His call was met with a 'hiss' in return, sneaking her way out from the bundle of shelves with atleast three books in her hands. Two being about human and drakanite anatomy, the last one being something special which she kept to herself. The first two were 'quietly' dumped on the table as she came back.
  114.
  115. "It's not much, But I figured you would like to know how your kind and mine works regarding how we function. I could not find one on beastkin, Maybe they're not special? Who knows."
  116.
  117. With their stash of books obtained with little sound made and most of the shelves on her side remaining organized, she pulled up a chair for them both. Sliding it over to Nerin as she took a seat herself. Even having the audacity to pull up closer to him once they hit the books to study.
  118. (Reina Volusena)
  119.
  120. The anatomy on other species? That's something he could actually appreciate; as for the beastkin, he was convinced that they're more or less similar to how humans function.. unless, of course, you count the ears and tail, but these aren't exactly vital areas of their body.
  121.
  122. The drakanites seem to manifest entirely different traits, and in entirely different way - so it might be reasonable to actually dig through their books as well.
  123.
  124. "Thanks, Reina. It's appreciated."
  125.
  126. A simple smile is offered, and the seat is taken nearby. There's a sigh that spills past his lips, anticipating that this will take a long, long while; but the night was young, and it means that they had a lot of time to actually get this done without bothering all too much on missing something out. Well, probably..
  127.
  128. "Let's begin, then."
  129.
  130. Without further delay, he's right up next to Reina, the books flipped one after another, studying page after page; of course, the first goes everything related to anatomical studies of the body, to actually understand what is where, and how it functions; Nerin, so far, was only aware of how stitching is done - but that's something you can teach anyone on the go.
  131.
  132. More advanced surgery techniques? Not quite.
  133.
  134. Although his gaze droops a little at times, seemingly a little sleepy at the overwhelming amount of books that they have to skim through.. he perseveres for the most part, rubbing them awake once more. The lit candle remains on the table, lighting enough for them to read.
  135.
  136. So, so much more to read..
  137. (Nerin)
  138.
  139. Reina glanced over at the collection of books that Nerin obtained, all this seemed a tad difficult for the drakanite brute to understand. She wasn't D U M B but such topics would likely be considered boring in her eyes, which they were. It was the time she spent with Nerin that appreciated the most, this was just a bonus.
  140.
  141. Reina pulled up the 'how to treat a drakanite' book, flipping it open to page one as Nerin hit up his own book. The two constantly studying similar or different topics from time to time, yet it was not enough to combat the boredom that would eventually prod at the back of her mind.
  142.
  143. Though at one point, while they were hitting up the topic of drakanite anatomy. Her eyes took note of a specific part. Some variations of her race had wings that would sprout in certain situations, Giving Nerin a nudge as she pointed it out. There was a prime example drawing of your generic lizard folk, wings and horns. Like the spoopy dragons they were.
  144.
  145. "I did not know about this, Did you? There's mutations with drakanites, Yet it can't be explained why." This clearly caught her attention, genuinely disturbing the knight until she focused back on Nerin's book in hand.
  146.
  147. She was sure to give him a few nudges and an annoyed hiss at the slightest chance of him falling asleep, catching up on the advanced medical treatments as the cover described. Infection of a wound? Pour alcohol over it. Stitching people up? Familiar.. Yet it was more the nature how people bleed that caught her interest.
  148. (Reina Volusena)
  149.
  150. It's so tiring for the most part.
  151.
  152. Seconds, minutes, hours pass. Hours upon hours of studying- losing the track of time, at times Nerin was terribly, terribly tired to continue on; and it's perhaps a little bit of magic enhancement and his perseverance as magi that helps him to actually keep going. To an extent, at least - the conversation with Reina actually helps him to stay awake and not fall asleep here and there.
  153.
  154. He'd probably do just that otherwise.
  155.
  156. "Oh..? Probably mana circuitry, or.. hm.. dunno." Spoken in half-asleep tone, he rubbed at his eyes again, then continued to study through. Even if he were tired, he knew that actually ensuring he can get everything memorized was very important. Otherwise, this may backfire on him badly..
  157.
  158. Especially when it's time to treat someone.
  159.
  160. "There's.. so much of this new that I actually didn't know before." Who'd have thought that becoming a doctor would be so difficult? But what can't you do for the glory of future and ensuring that he can actually make it through without any hassle - or at least, much of it.
  161.
  162. Hours and hours pass. More time over the books is spent, and only eventually, there's actually a hope for them to finish it up soon, more or less.. a deep sigh escaped him, scrolling past the books once more to make sure he re-caps it right - and yet, there's hope that they could be done with it soon enough.
  163.
  164. "I think.. almost over?"
  165.
  166. They did exhaust a lot by now. It even seems like there's hardly anything left to read at this point.
  167. (Nerin)
  168.
  169. "The struggle is long and hard...Mm.. I think my kind might have some interesting and disturbing things about us.." This was followed by Reina looking back at her drakanite anatomy book. Was she a freak? Probably so, what was she gonna do about it? Keep on being a freak.
  170.
  171. This disturb her for just a little while longer, it was enough to keep Reina awake during her study session. That and the bit of a beating heart from being oh so close and dealing with her tired study buddy, who she kept prodding awake with a few shakes, awfully close whispers and poking of his cheek.
  172.
  173. "..This is making my head hurt.. I feel bad for actual doctors." Now it didn't seem like you needed a medical degree itself here in Esshar, but the training still seemed intense. Going through and nomming on her jerky supply as hours went by, finding herself barely interested in the learning by the end of it.
  174.
  175. Soon as a pause came to their studying, she closed the drakainite anatomy book. Emitting one bloodly loud YAWN as she leaned back in her chair. Before simply headbanging on the table out of pure exhaustion.
  176.
  177. She was quite knocked out herself at this point, just please put a bullet in her head.
  178. (Reina Volusena)
  179.
  180. Finishing up the last chapters, he sighed out in relief.
  181.
  182. At the very last, they didn't have to stick around here any longer and could actually leave the place soon enough; seeing the exhausted, worn out Reina like this after they've spent hours upon hours on the books brought about a tiny smile on his face, although he'd have to interrupt her sleep anyhow.
  183.
  184. A gentle whisper followed.
  185.
  186. "Hey.. wake up. We're pretty much done here."
  187.
  188. Gently shaking her awake with tiny nudges, he'd eventually rise from the table, intending to take care of the books and put them back in the place where they belonged- eventually, he'd return to her, extending his hand out to assist her in standing as well. No doubt she's sleepy.
  189.
  190. "Come on.. let's go."
  191.
  192. "And thanks for staying to study with me. I appreciate it, really."
  193.
  194. After all,she had very little reason to follow through, and Nerin would no doubt be a lot more bored otherwise. She helped him.
  195. (Nerin)
