- So I woke up this morning, and immediately started writing down the dream I had last night. It was only a very short part in this particular dream, but everything else is unrelated to ponies. The majority of this is very true, except I had to add a few pieces of dialog and make a few things ponified so it fits the theme. But that's dreams for ya.
- This is also completely unrelated to my Anon/Fluttershy story.
- Enjoy.
- --------------------------------------
- >You were sitting there, a brush in hand.
- >Painting the cityscape skyline standing defiant against the evening sky.
- >The ponies of Fillydelphia were starting to fall asleep with the setting sun.
- >As the city went to sleep, new life began to spring up.
- >The ponies of the night flocked to the various clubs and dance scenes that were scattered around the city.
- >The sun was now gone, leaving no light to continue your painting.
- >You packed the canvas, paint, and brushes into you backpack.
- >You sling it over your shoulders and began the walk home.
- >The young ponies were all dressed up and ready to party.
- >They were running around the city, looking for the best spot.
- >You are not into the whole 'club scene'.
- >Instead, there is one particular theatre that you love to go to.
- >'The Celestial Theatres' it was called.
- >You like to come here one night a week for the Astral showings.
- >The movies usually weren't as action-packed or exciting as the ones played during the day.
- >For this reason, most ponies only came to the theatre during the day.
- >But there was a special charm about the night showings that the day showings didn't have.
- >For one, it was WAY more relaxing as there weren't nearly as many ponies who came to see them, which left the theatre pretty empty.
- >There was also a certain pony that worked the theatre at night that you liked, but could never muster the courage to tell her.
- >It was pretty late, and you just happened to pass the theatre on the way home.
- >You had to work tomorrow, but you think you can spare to lose a few hours of sleep.
- >You enter the theatre and walk up to the counter.
- >There was nopony watching the lobby.
- >You could hear the sounds of a television and can see the shadow of the proprieter against the wall around the corner.
- --
- "Excuse me?"
- >No answer.
- >You clear your throat and speak a little louder.
- "Excuse me, miss?"
- >You can hear the shuffling and groans as she makes her way around the corner.
- >Up to the counter walks that magnificent, midnight blue alicorn.
- >Her mane flowed without wind and looked like dark blue, translucent star dust with small stars interspersed throughout.
- >The nametag on her chest revealed her name to be 'Luna'.
- >"Yeah? Oh, it's you. But it's not the Astral showing tonight."
- "Yeah I know. I just thought it would be a good night to see a movie."
- >She stared at you with a straight face.
- >She was obviously unhappy about being here.
- "C-can I ask what's showing tonight?"
- >She looks past you at the poster on the wall.
- >"You could, or you can check that poster there."
- >She points behind you and you turn around.
- "Oh yeah... Sorry. I didn't notice it."
- >It was some fantasy thriller that you had already seen.
- >But whatever, you're already here.
- "Right. May I please get a ticket?"
- >She sighed and punched a key on the register.
- >"That'll be 18 bits."
- >18 bits for a movie ticket?
- >That just ain't right.
- >You dug through you coinpurse, and found 23 bits.
- >More than enough, but something was wrong.
- "Alright. But first I have to ask, why are you so upset?"
- >"What?"
- >You shake your head.
- "I know for fact it's not 18 bits for a ticket. So I want to know, why are you overcharging me?"
- --
- >"Because we need the money, that's why. All the ponies want to come and hang out during the day where all the good movies are shown. You think I like watching these crappy fantasy and romance films all night, every night?"
- >Ouch.
- "I'm sorry."
- >"Don't be."
- "But why don't you just show more horror movies or something?"
- >"Because ponies are too scared to come see them. And the other movies are too lame for anypony to even want to watch them."
- "So why don't you just show more movies like in the day?"
- >"Because my sister won't let me!"
- >She was growing increasingly irritated by your questions.
- >"There's a set style with the movies we show, and I am forced to work the night shift, else my sister relieves me of my part in the theatre, and kicks me out!"
- >Oh shit.
- >You didn't mean to start a whole rant.
- >You just wanted to know.
- "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you so angry."
- >She lets out a sigh and begins to calm down.
- >"It's just stressful. You are the only pony who actually enjoys being here. The others who come are couples and nopony wants to talk to me..."
- >You just realized that this is the first conversation that you've ever held with her beyond the simple ordering of a ticket and snacks.
- >You had no idea she was so depressed.
- --
- >At that moment, you see two ponies walk past the window of the small lobby.
- >They look in and see you.
- >You wave at them and they wave back excitedly.
- >They motion for you to come outside.
- >You shake your head and motion for them to come to you.
- >Luna sighed, and walked around the counter.
- >She thought they were motioning to her.
- >You hold your hand out in front of her to stop her from leaving.
- "They meant me. Just give it a second. They will come to us."
- >Sure enough, they ran around and came in through the double doors.
- >The two mares were friends of yours.
- >"Anonymous!" the first said. "Where have you been, man?"
- "Work."
- >"Forget that!" the second one said. "Come on, lets get out of here. It's time to party!"
- >"What are you even doing here at night anyways?" the first one asked. "These movies suck."
- >Luna scowled at them.
- "No thanks. I'm just looking to relax a bit."
- >"Whatever man! We're off to hit the town!"
- >And they ran out the doors to go find the best party spot they can find.
- >You turned back to Luna who was visually angry and depressed.
- >"They didn't even bother to say hello to me..."
- "I'm sure they were just in a hurry."
- >She walked back behind the counter.
- >"They insulted my movies. My theatre."
- "So did you."
- >"But they didn't have to say it. They acted like I wasn't even here."
- >This was true.
- >It was very rude of them to act like that.
- >That just goes back to a lesson your mother taught you long ago.
- >Sometimes it's better to fudge the truth a little or just stay quiet rather than hurt somebody's feelings.
- >"Nopony ever wants to just come see me and talk."
- "I do."
- --
- >That just slipped out.
- >Your urge to help her feel better just betrayed you to reveal your true inentions.
- >But it appeared to be a step in the right direction.
- >You had caught her undivided attention, as she just stared at you.
- >"You?"
- >Too late to go back now.
- "Of course. The main reason I even come here is just for the chance to see you."
- >Luna blushed.
- >"Well... My my..."
- >Your mind is telling you to shut up and stop talking, but your lips keep moving.
- >You muttered under your breath, barely audible.
- "And I... kind of... sort of... like... you..."
- >This must have been the right thing to say, as she had perked up her ears and a smile came across her face.
- >She gave a little giggle.
- >You feel like an idiot.
- >You just revealed your feelings to this mare, and she just giggles at you.
- >You contemplate walking away with what little dignity you have left.
- >But she stops you before you do.
- >"Do you really mean that?"
- >You pick your head up to look at her again.
- "Yes," you pause. "I really do."
- >"Well, well... I must say that you are the first to ever say such a thing."
- >You can't believe what you just heard.
- "Wait, what? How is that possible?"
- >She shrugged.
- >"I guess stallions are just intimidated by me."
- >That's probably it.
- >As beautiful as she was, you can see how that is possible.
- >Something about her gave off an eerie feeling when you were near her, but this very feeling attracted you.
- >It was only now had you summed up the courage to say anything more than a few words.
- >You try to play off like you weren't afraid of her.
- "Well they must be crazy to be afraid of a beautiful mare such as yourself.
- --
- >She covered her mouth with her hoof and gave a small laugh.
- >You smiled at having accomplished more than what you originally came here for.
- >"Well then, you want a ticket to the show tonight? That would be 9 bits please."
- "Oh, I'm sorry. We spent so much time talking that I don't believe I would even have enough time to finish the film. I need to get up pretty early for work tomorrow."
- >A frown came over her face and she looked down.
- >"Oh... Okay..."
- "However, maybe tomorrow will be better. Can I call you then?"
- >She looked up with a smile.
- >"I would love it."
- "Very well. Now if you will excuse me, I need to get home."
- >"Don't you want my number?"
- "I don't need a number to know where you're going to be tomorrow night."
- >You smile to show her it was only a joke.
- >She understood and laughed.
- "Good night, Miss Luna."
- >You bow your head and turn to walk away.
- >"Wait! I never did catch your name."
- >You stop and turn around.
- >You walk back up to the counter and extend your hand over it.
- "My name is Anonymous. And it is my pleasure to meet you, miss Luna."
- >She meets your handshake with her hoof.
- >"And mine as well. And please, just call me Luna."
- >You nod your head.
- "Very well. Good night, Luna."
- >"Good night, Anonymous."
- >And with that, you take your leave.
- >The walk home is quiet.
- >You are so deep in thought that you drown out the sounds of the city night life.
- >You pray that this is the start of something beautiful.
- -------------------------------------------
- This was an actual pony dream about Luna. The only thing I changed was the city, the name of the theatre, and the 2 girls. After I walked away, there was nothing left pony related. I also think that's a good thing as the story ending here is rather beautiful in my opinion.
