Smackdown Episode 6 Review

The show opens with a video package about the Smackdown ppv Judgement Day.

Number 1 Contenders Match: Super Crazy vs. Psicosis, Chavo Guerrero, and Gregory Helms
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I think this was a great show opener. Despite it being a 3 on 1 match, the champion did prove himself a bit here and there, especially at the beginning, showing that he is worthy of holding the title. The only that may have hurt was that he got a bit too much momentum, perhaps showing that maybe the other 3 aren't really at his level.

Results: Chavo Guerrero def. Super Crazy via pinfall.

The ending was crazy, and could definitely be played into a fantastic storyline. Gregory Helms could've easily gotten the pin but tagged in Chavo so he could get the pin, very interesting stuff there. I really can't wait to see what comes from this shocking finish, and what more comes from this great cruiserweight division. **½

The GM and the assistant are talking about the rivalry between Batista and Ric Flair, and how it's been going on for a while. (I personally still like the rivalry at this point, their submission match on last week's show was outstanding) We get word that they will have a big match tonight, but instead of Batista's music, Big Show comes out to confront Ric Flair.

Unsanctioned Match: Ric Flair vs. Big Show

So this was a bit of an unexpected match to say the least. The match was over quite quickly, and Im not sure if I like it or not. I understand the point of the match, extending Big Show's undefeated streak and proving that he is a monster. But Ric Flair has taken a huge momentum blow these past 2 weeks. I guess I can live with the match.

Results: Big Show def. Ric Flair via Count Out.

The chokeslam through the announce table was a nice touch, and that was about all there was to the match. I do think it did its role nicely, so I can give it a ranking despite being only a squash match. *

The GM makes an announcement that due to Ric Flair being unable to compete, if he can find a replacement for his match against Batista, the he will book it on tonight's show. Could this perhaps be an intro into an alliance?

Another video package shows for the Smackdown ppv Judgement Day.

The GM books Kurt Angle vs. Mick Foley as the main event of the show tonight in a hardcore match.

Umaga is announced as Ric Flair's substitute against Batista, I'm interested to see how Umaga and Ric Flair work out.

Singles Match: Batista vs. Umaga w/ Ric Flair

Another good match on the night, proving that Big Show vs. Ric Flair had some sort of meaning. Batista and Umaga had a hard-hitting match that involved a lot of back and forth fighting and a little bit of Ric Flair's help. Batista started off in the driver's seat, but that didn't stay for long as Umaga came back and such. Batista had the chance to beat Umaga but got a bit too cocky, which would lead to him getting hit with the Samoan Spike.

Like I said, really enjoyed this match as a whole, and the brawling was truly great. Ric Flair and Batista have a fantastic rivalry going, but I wouldn't mind a couple more Umaga vs. Batista matches, especially if they are as good as this one. ***
