- I knew I was too dependent on my computer for my daily life to function, but holy cow, I kinda was a lost puppy when I had to take my PC in for a system restore last week. Isn’t it great when the thing you’ve invested over $1000 in to make content does nothing when you turn it on? That’s what happened to me on Sunday and I needed the one-and-only Geek Squad to get back up and running. (Seriously, no one else was open on a Sunday. They still have a use.) While my PC was gone, I really couldn’t get a thing done. Everything I’m trying to make requires me to process video that I have already recorded… and haven’t backed up. Good thing I got the PC back and better than ever on Tuesday. The issue was that I had let the hard drive space get too full. It was never catastrophic enough on a HDD to keep the PC from ever booting again. On a SSD, however…
- Well, I picked up a 2 TB SATA SSD so that doesn’t happen again. I will fill up that drive with my videos before I let my system drive get back to that position.
- I spent a lot of this week getting my programs and settings reinstalled. I can’t recall just how much I have lost from my original setup, but my AppData being saved did wonders for saving me grief. Still, I am a bit out of sorts while I get back into my previous routine. Bear with me, doods.
- On a more fun note, I did have more time on my phone to screw around with. I picked up Dungeon Clawler. I never knew that I wanted claw machines to determine how I attack through dungeons in my life. It was a game I had seen videos of and thought I would have fun with it. I earned enough rewards from daddy Google to try it out and, yes, I am having fun with it. I thought it wouldn’t be super deep considering the content that was there, but there was a recent update that added new mechanics and it got a little more interesting. I’m not sure how much more it will hold my interest before I return to Balatro grinding for Completionist++. I should start streaming that. Maybe I’ll give Dicey Dungeons a try again. I don’t know.
- Today's (permanent) extra streaming goals:
- Goal #1: record footage for my Puzzle League tutorial series. The scripts are done! I am now challenging myself to find time amidst my tournament duties to work on recording the gameplay. I would then need voice-over on top of that. I am hopeful to start this before July, but it depends on my focus.
- Goal #2: release the Puzzle League tutorial series YouTube shorts once a day until they're all done. I really do think I need to time the release of the series with a ramping up of my streaming schedule so that I can take advantage of whatever there is to gain from releasing the shorts. Moving has pushed this date further and further back.
- Goal #3: clean up my own stream layout. Most of the framework necessary for a semi-proper stream is done now thanks to streaming the process, though I'm not currently motivated to stream any other part of it at the moment. Next major objective is to make alerts. I have stream reaction clips to put in. Emotes, one or two alternate overlay themes, and alternate timer themes would come soon after. As soon as I think of things to put in, I will add them to the list. I added a list in a dedicated channel in my Discord server. If you have any time to kill and want to contribute, check it out.
- Goal #4: catch up on video archives that I have yet to upload since I restarted streaming. I may put them on a separate channel.
- Goal #5: edit personal best videos in Tetris Attack Easy – V-Hard (post commentary recorded) and Normal (post commentary recorded)—and everything I did in Pokemon Puzzle Week—and that S-Hard PB—and that V-Hard WR—and that Easy – S-Hard WR—and that TA Easy PB—and another Easy – V-Hard PB (twice). Standalone archival videos are already attached to my speedrun profile. I'm hoping to make eye-catching productions from each speedrun. I'm considering it to be my personal test to be a YouTuber. I was failing miserably even before this moving thing became a thing.
- Goal #6: finalize the tournament layout once and for all in a way that I can adapt for every game we might play. I have a volunteer to help broadcast the matches in my stead, but I need to get settled in my new place before I engage in too many projects.
- This week's schedule:
- Friday @8pm-12am ET – Friday Night Salt Mines: PPL2025 Koga Open Warmup Edition
- Saturday @2pm-6pm ET – twitch.tv/puzzlespeedrun PPL2025 Koga Open
- Now if you'll excuse me, doods, I need to see if I can make my YouTube Shorts process right again. That’s my life story for the week. Until next time, everyone, be decent to each other. Later, doods!
