  2. 1. During a round of Ninja, you are faxed by Station Command inquiring about an “inspector” who claims to have been sent by the company to evaluate each of the station's departments. How do you respond, and why?
  3.

  5. How late into the round is it during this hypothetical?
  6.
  7. Lancer — Today at 16:33
  8. 30 minutes
  9.
  10. Kaizr — Today at 16:37
  11. Considering it’s far too early to even begin raising suspicions, I have a few options here:
  12.
  13. 1. Delay a response to the fax or simply give a “Situation Report Acknowledged” style fax until it is later into the round.
  14.
  15. 2. Bring up that we “did” have a few visitations scheduled but we’ll have to confirm with the scheduling team or an equivalent. The inspectors should be treated like officials unless they prove a threat or cause undue disruption/crew interference through their actions that is in violation of station regulations.

  17. 2. During a round of Crossfire, you are faxed by Station Command about a team of mercenaries who have reported a band of pirates operating in the area. They wish to offer their services to the station as additional security. Command is asking you for your advice on the situation. How do you respond, and why?
  18. Kaizr — Today at 16:48
  19. Depending on the situation I feel there is a few ways to go about this. While NanoTrasen employs SCC mercenaries and sub-contracted security contractors, they would not just hire mercenaries off the street because they have a “hunch” that Pirates are around. Assuming they have administrative authorization to engage in PvP between antags, I would say this is the best response.
  20.
  21. First and foremost, it is extremely important to ask command to inquire if the mercenaries can provide valid proof that their suspicion is true to give the antags something to work off of. Secondly, pay mind to security that shift, if there is a full roster it would probably be smart to advise the station to: “Act in accordance with station regulations and ensure station security is upheld through methods they see fit whilst still complying to regulation.” While CCIA would never actively promote hiring mercenaries off the street, it’s critical to keep the station and antags autonomous from CC without leaving them high and dry with no outside interaction. If there is little to no security present, advise command to take all the steps necessary to ensuring NanoTrasen assets and personnel are safe while complying with NanoTrasen regulations.

  24. 3. You receive an Emergency Broadcast System message from the station’s Artificial Intelligence. It claims that there is an emergency situation, and requests an immediate ERT deployment. How do you respond?
  25.
  26. Kaizr — Today at 16:49
  27. Has the station gone radio silent before this? Is there an alert level raise? What is the round time?
  28.
  29. Lancer — Today at 16:50
  30. 1:30, some antags having killed the only officer, no command
  31.
  32. Kaizr — Today at 16:50
  33. Are we aware of these happenings prior to the EBS or have we just been made aware by the AI?
  34.
  35. Lancer — Today at 16:51
  36. just by the AI
  37.
  38. Kaizr — Today at 16:54
  39. Considering ICly we have no reason to assume the AI has gone rogue suddenly, and due to how late it is in the round: The fact that NanoTrasen assets including the nuclear device can or already have been compromised is enough to warrant the emergency deployment of Phoenix or a NanoTrasen authorized response team in high-alert gear. While one might argue that this could be false information, CC has no IC reason to doubt the validity of the EBS due to the implications of its usage (last ditch communication with CC.)

  42. 4. In your opinion, how much of a role should Central Command play in the affairs of the station? When is it appropriate for them to directly intervene, and how much should they attempt to shape the round when they do?
  43.
  44. Kaizr — Today at 17:07
  45. Central Command should do it’s best to avoid direct intervention in station affairs as they should be handled by the station. All methods of avoiding direct intervention should be exhausted before Central Command considers such a course of action. These can range from faxes with advice and guidance to aid the station and command handle the issue, to holocalls in more serious cases.
  46.
  47. Additionally, Central Command should only become involved in issues that are high priority (this does not mean ignore faxes asking “should I demote this person”, those warrant a “Do what you believe is best in accordance with your training and regulations” or a “Because you informed us of X, we advise Y, and we will do Z after the shift” in more serious cases). Things such as command misconduct, antag work that directly inhibits or damages station operations, etc.
  48.
  49. Moving onto when Central Command should be directly involved:
  50.
  51. Cases wherein NanoTrasen assets, personnel, or information has or can be compromised and station interaction has proven ineffective or has otherwise done nothing to end the situation.
  52.
  53. Situations involving command or liaison/consular misconduct that would warrant immediate removal from their post should a captain not be available to do so or is the perpetrator of this misconduct. Central Command may, if the offense is serious enough, send a CCIA agent or official to remove liaisons/consular officers if they are in severe violation of NanoTrasen regulations or local law.
  54.
  55. How should Central Command shape the round? Minimally. The job of central command is NOT to lead the station in 99.99% of cases, it is to intermittently guide/advise and indirectly (rarely directly) aid the station to ensure command runs it efficiently and in accordance with all regulations.

  58. 5. What do you believe is the purpose of the Incident Report system?
  59.
  60. Kaizr — Today at 17:14
  61. The incident report system, to put it simply, is a system to ensure that misconduct that has not been handled on-station or otherwise requires administrative punishment is enforced.
  62.
  63. Example: A person is falsely accused of a crime by another and security decides to act on it without probable cause. They treat the accused unfairly or harshly (a violation of station regulations). An IR is written by the accused to ensure that due punishment is brought ICly to those who have violated regulations and to ensure workplace misconduct does not go unnoticed.
  64.
  65. Alongside this, the IR system is also critical to ensuring players uphold an HRP environment on the server. Without it, people may disregard multiple arrests or misconduct because it “only effects that round”, the IR system discourages this as people will face repercussions for repeated violations of work policy (which would end up in you being fired, realistically.)
