An essay written by James Q. Wilson, is about the topic of gun control and how the author doesn’t think gun laws or any form of gun control will really help any law-abiding citizen. It seems to him that it makes it more likely that people who own firearms that are not affiliated with the military, government or law enforcement basically narrow down to criminals who will most likely purchase their weapons from the black market or people who use private sales.  I decided to do an analysis on this essay, because I support gun rights and I believe everyone should be allowed to have a firearm unless they lose that right by being possible dangers to society. Examples include anyone with a criminal history, especially crimes involving murder, robbery, or any general harm to society type criminal behavior.
Recently, there was a situation where a man was killed in his sleep by Police officers, because they got an anonymous tip that the man had possessions of weapons. They executed a no-knock raid around early morning around 4 am or so. They shoot through a window and killed him while he was in bed with his pregnant girlfriend. They however, validated their reason by shooting him because he was in possession of five weapons and had criminal history as a juvenile. Does it really require such as high escalation of violence due to some violation?  According to an article, the police said they issued commands before firing, however, according to his girlfriend she said, “…police never made verbal commands upon either her or Duncan until after Duncan was shot and lay bleeding on the floor.” (Bovard)
	What the author could have included in their essay was something that can help support convincing people into agreeing with them would be something that includes more instances of when someone had used self-defense to their best ability to successfully defend themselves from would-be attackers and more incidents of when police were not able to respond in time before someone became a victim due to wait time so help convince that if someone had a gun they would have been able to defend their selves or deterred someone from continuing their intent on harming the would-be victim. Another point that Wilson could have included, was that gun violence mostly including suicides, which further stimulates the statistics of gun violence and It’s already a good sign that he included that most crimes are committed with a handgun rather than with rifles or shotguns. The author did well to shed some light about the fourth amendment and how unreasonable searches and seizures is unconstitutional because that could mean a police officer can just stop anyone if they wanted to.
	If I was to argue against guns, I would speak about how other countries with gun laws have less gun violence and how it is much safer. For instance, Japan is generally very safe and they don’t have many guns on the streets there. The Police in the United Kingdom don’t typically carry firearms, they usually carry batons or something to that degree rather than using guns unless it is absolutely needed. Another thing I would say is high-capacity magazines for guns should be prohibited, because whoever is committing a murder spree will have more trouble committing mass murder. Last but not least, I would always say the costs involving gun violence would be substantially reduced because less medical expenses for hospitals and insurance companies like Medicaid paying firearms-related injuries that can number into the billions.
	The essay, “Just Take Way Their Guns”, is a well-written essay that doesn’t support gun laws and gets their point across in a clear, concise form. This analysis was to help understand what he is trying to convey in his writing and ways he may have helped convince the public about why gun laws can affect people more negatively than you think. There is a reason why people are panic buying firearms now, due to Coronavirus. It’s to protect themselves and their family or household, due to this crazy situation and they obviously acknowledge how guns can help deter foes and defend themselves.
