- [22:19] <jamiejackson> segfault again, and small boot text
- [22:19] <jamiejackson> http://pastebin.com/y1kTGzAS
- [22:21] <jamiejackson> this might be a red herring, but i'm noticing weird display stuff even as early as the bios screens. then, when it's, say, looking for fd0 (which i don't have), some letters are colored, and some are substituted with the wrong letter
- [22:22] <jamiejackson> and instead of "grub loading", it might say "grub loadming"
- [22:23] <jamiejackson> so, as i said, maybe a red herring, but i don't want to go on without mentioning it. (that's why i wondered if my graphics card was crapping out)
- [22:31] == kraft [kraft@gateway/shell/blinkenshell.org/x-pgmzqmuszhuqmaeu] has quit [Read error: Operation timed out]
- [22:33] == kraft [kraft@gateway/shell/blinkenshell.org/x-arbbafpzypoubkvi] has joined #nvidia
- [22:36] <bones_was_here> jamiejackson: i havn't read your conversation but i've yet to see corruption during POST / before the kernel loads that wasn't caused by a failing nv card
- [22:47] <phobos_anomaly> bones_was_here: I've seen it with bad ram.
- [22:49] == matt7 [[email protected]] has quit [Quit: Ex-Chat]
- [23:24] <Primer> and I've seen it when frame buffer is used by grub
- [23:26] <Primer> right now my ubuntu box boots with a totally black screen between the grub menu and the X login screen
- [23:27] <Primer> that fd0 error can be fixed by disabling the floppy controller in the BIOS, btw. It's what fixed it for me
- [23:27] <Primer> now I don't have to wait 10 seconds on boot while that part waits to fail
