- Basically its just like
- A vague setting with differnt ideas that weave together
- There are different types of mecha too
- Gundam-like basic mecha units
- Eva-like units which basically take the bodies of powerful monsters and mechanize them
- More powerful mecga units which require multiple people to pilot
- Etc.
- The idea is that its like monster hunter except the monsters are always on the larger scale of things
- And mechs are built entirely out of parts and materials harvested from these monsters
- My character is a bit unique in that they're in the uncommon minority who can both build and pilot their mechs
- Normally the people with that aptitude only specialize in one or the other.
- Theres also different grades of mechs, partnerships between pilots and mechanics as well as rankings based off said partnerships and abilities
- People who act as both pilot and engineer are left out of the rankings due to cultural standards held by society.
- He (The Character) used to only be a pilot but...he lost his mechanic in some unfortunate incident
- and inherited most of the mechanic's things, so he dedicated himself to becoming a mechanic/pilot combo to honor his memory and make up for the mistake he feels like he made. He's stubborn and set in his ways and refuses to work with a certain type of mecha, the type that led to his partner's demise
- Even before his partner died to a cyberorganic mecha of his own creation, he saw them as being vile abominations against nature and common sense, despite the sheer power they can wield.
- This type of mecha were the Techno/Cyber-Organic type (Note: Come up with better name)
- They're a type of Mecha that takes a different approach to mecha creation in that the body of the monster itself is mechanized and used as the main body, the pilot literally being hooked to the creature's half-living cybernetic mind and controlling it from within.
- They wield incredible power depending on which monster they're based on, although generally only monsters past a certain size are compatible with the process. They allow the pilots behind them to control enhanced abilities the monster had in life and blend in among the various areas which monsters are found.
- This runs...very many risks however.
- The MAIN one being they're literally connecting to the mind of a very feral, albeit cyberized and half-dead monster.
- It's...fortunately a thing that happens where the pilots end up losing control while the mechas themselves "Devolve" into a more primal and monstrous state.
- This usually ends up with the pilot effectively being rendered dead, as the monster overrides their own brain functions and uses them to make up for what brainpower they lost during the mechanization process, this sometimes leads to the creation of....very dangerous and highly intelligent albeit completely and utterly insane and sadistic variations upon these creatures, such rogue mechs are usually hunted down immediately by all teams in the area, although there are tales of rogue mechs that still live in the hidden and remote corners of the world.
