  1. <Darkling> Six thirty in the morning. The lights in the base are all flickering on. Bright and harsh fluorescent beams flaring to life just meters above the pilots' heads.
  2. [2011-08-03 21:36:09] <Lahja_Ilvainen> Lahja wakes up again, squinting at the sudden appearance of light. She mutters quietly, putting her pillow over her face to shield herself a little longer.
  3. Rasia growls, rolling to smother her vision with the pillow, bottom in the air.
  4. Corrin is up in an instant, springing to his feet as though he'd practiced it. After a moment, he squints around, looking confused as though something's not there that he expected to be.
  5. <Darkling> Ivy gets up yawning, and stumbles towards the kitchen area.
  6. Wilhelm_Faustus sits on the edge of his bed, watching the others.
  7. <Lahja_Ilvainen> After a while she gets out of bed, still squinting. Her hair is a wreck. Looks like someone has been doing a lot of tossing and turning.
  8. <Rasia> The beast finally stirs, hair flyaway and teeth clicking.
  9. <Rasia> "Rr..." To the kitchen.
  10. <Wilhelm_Faustus> Wil pulls out clothing from the bag each of them had gotten. He calmly undressed, too smart for simple matters like embarrassment or shame. Or having Freya leer at him when naked wasn't healthy. Maybe both. Just as calmly he puts on fresh clothing.
  11. <Corrin> "Come on, Pilots! Time to get up!"
  12. <Wilhelm_Faustus> "Shut up." Too early to have to deal with Corrin. Always too early.
  13. <Darkling> Ivy drinks a glass of water, watching the other pilots.
  14. Rasia strolls by Ivy, staring at the girl on her way to look for food.
  15. <Darkling> "So, we're supposed to meet the Commander today, right" She asks, smiling at Rasia's stare.
  16. <Lahja_Ilvainen> Lahja nabs her own bag, hastily making her way to the bathroom to change. And perhaps more importantly, spend an inordinate amount of time there.
  17. Corrin shrugs Wilhelm off, rummaging through his own bag as he drops back onto his own bunk. He seems more cheery than usual, with that stupid grin back.
  18. <Rasia> A noncomittal grunt, as Rasia heads towards her own bag, changing much like Wilhelm. If she found even a snack, it's filling her cheeks.
  19. <Darkling> Ivy shrugs at getting no response and goes to pull on some pants over her pajama shorts.
  20. Wilhelm_Faustus finds his way to the window and stands there, staring out.
  21. <Lahja_Ilvainen> Lahja eventually exits the bathroom in fresh clothes, and more importantly, her hair isn't going in a ridiculous number of directions all at once. "I'm back."
  22. Corrin nods, now typing up his bootlaces. "Yep."
  23. <Darkling> Ivy heads into the bathroom and is out in a jiffy, having changed her shirt. "Am I the only one excited about today?"
  24. <Lahja_Ilvainen> "I'm excited. Just a little groggy is all. Aside from me waking you up, did you sleep well?" Lahja puts on an awkward smile. A girl spending so little time in the bathroom... if that isn't suspicious and indicative of an alien nature she doesn't know what is.
  25. Rasia folds her arms.
  26. <Corrin> "Excited?" Corrin asks, then remembers. "Oh! Right!" The grin gets wider.
  27. <Wilhelm_Faustus> "...amazing you can grin like that right about now."
  28. <Darkling> "I didn't get much sleep but I slept well!" She seems cheery at least. "And you shouldn't pick on Corrin so much. At least he isn't always frowny like you."
  29. <Wilhelm_Faustus> "Maybe he's happy because the dome has become partially a snowy ruin. Perhaps it reminds him of home."
  30. Corrin was about to speak to Ivy, but freezes as the other Pilot's words sink in. The grin fades. He gets to his feet, standing over the other Pilot's bunk, fists balled. The grin's gone. "Take that back. Now."
  31. Rasia turns her head, sensing the change of mood.
  32. <Lahja_Ilvainen> "If it was snowy in Texas that would explain the big hats." Lahja remarks, not really believing it. She looks a little annoyed as things take a turn for the hostile.
  33. <Wilhelm_Faustus> "NERV didn't have the foresight to prevent any of this." He looks to you, Corrin. "Civilans are dead at the hands of Trolls allowed to invade this dome. Tell me. How wonderful is NERV now?"
  34. <Corrin> "Without NERV, they'd all be dead. The enemy's dead now instead, no thanks to you panicking." Taken off-balance by the question, Corrin's still riled. "Now shut up or I'll do it for you."
  35. <Wilhelm_Faustus> "Try me."
  36. <Darkling> "There's no need to fight guys."
  37. Corrin 's fist is already headed for the other pilot's eye.
  38. <Lahja_Ilvainen> "Pilot Corrin, don't you think if NERV wanted or needed defending from Wilhelm's criticisms they'd defend themselves?" Lahja mutters, albeit a bit late.
  39. <Rasia> And that's when Raz gets involved.
  40. Corrin isn't listening, instead focused on nothing but making Pilot Wilhelm hurt. He didn't even see it coming.
  41. <Wilhelm_Faustus> He smirks as the fist approaches, grunt as it connects, then starts to laugh after as a hand clamps over said eye.
  42. <Rasia> Sixty kilograms of Israeli meets Corrin, some teeth sinking into his shoulder. Too late to stop the punch, but...
  43. Corrin yells in pain at the bite, struggling to fight back against the unexpected attacker.
  44. <Wilhelm_Faustus> "Rasia, let him go."
  45. <Rasia> She isn't as skilled, at least by a small margin, but it's like wrestling the child of a badger and a brick wall--Rasia growls, releasing Corrin and getting to her feet.
  46. <Darkling> Ivy just watches on in horror from across the room.
  47. Corrin struggles to his feet, breathing hard. As soon as he's up, he takes an unsteady but definitely hostile step towards Wilhelm. There's probably a word for this kind of behavior...
  48. <Wilhelm_Faustus> "...I'm done wasting time or breath on you Corrin, feel free to back down before this gets messy."
  49. <Darkling> The door clicks open and Agent Weaving steps in, eyeing the pilots.
  50. <Lahja_Ilvainen> Lahja wanders over to Corrin to peer at his shoulder. It's probably more out of interest in his injury rather than concern. "Pilot Corrin, let's not make NERV waste time and energy having to intervene and deal with the aftermath of this."
  51. <Darkling> "Why aren't you all ready to go?" The agents glares through her sunglasses.
  52. Corrin stops, at Lahja's words, still glaring at the older boy and practically ignoring the agent. A moment later, he lowers his hands to his side, fists still clenched. "This isn't over."
  53. <Wilhelm_Faustus> A smirk for Corrin as he stands, gaze moving to Rasia. "Very sorry Agent Weaving. A bit of fun I was having at Corrin's expense had them distracted. Beg your pardon."
  54. <Darkling> "I'm not going to keep the Commander waiting, so get your silly ass in gear, now." She seems not at all amused.
  55. <Lahja_Ilvainen> Embarrassing. Very, very embarrassing. Lahja suddenly turns, snapping a very quick salute toward Weaving. At least she was ready to go before the little explosion.
  56. Corrin reluctantly looks away and to the Agent. "Yes. Ma'am."
  57. <Darkling> "I mean now!" She holds the door open, waiting for you.
  58. <Wilhelm_Faustus> A ruffle of Rasia's hair and his hands slip into his pockets, heading for the door.
  59. <Lahja_Ilvainen> Lahja walks off through the door at a quick pace, a little startled at this side of Weaving. She actually seems to be taking her more seriously than Pilon.
  60. Corrin storms out, barely watching where he's going. His clothes are damaged and torn from the struggle on the floor, and there are a series of neat holes in the top of the left sleeve.
  61. <Rasia> Rasia skulks along behind Wilhelm, clicking her teeth.
  62. <Darkling> Agent Weaving closes the door as Ivy walks through, and then leads the way to the elevator, getting in and waiting again for the pilots.
  63. <Wilhelm_Faustus> He takes his place in a back corner, arms folded over his chest as he leans back.
  64. <Lahja_Ilvainen> Lahja heads over to the elevator, almost like it's a race. Definitely a lot more tense.
  65. Corrin steps inside and to the end across from the doors, not turning around or looking at the others.
  66. Rasia fills more space than she really should, tension winding up under her skin as well.
  67. <Darkling> Weaving slides a card through a security console and presses a star button, the doors close and the elevators hums as it descends.
  68. <Darkling> "Don't stray from me down here. The guards have orders to shoot first and ask questions later." She looks at Wilhelm while saying this.
  69. <Wilhelm_Faustus> "...wouldn't dream of it."
  70. Corrin 's breathing is back to normal, hands now loose at his sides, but he doesn't move from his position. "Yes, ma'am." he replies, tone flat.
  71. <Darkling> The elevator comes to a stop, and the doors part. Weaving steps out leading the way. "Come on now."
  72. Wilhelm_Faustus follows.
  73. <Lahja_Ilvainen> Lahja follows as well, still tense. That comment from Weaving didn't help anything.
  74. Corrin turns and follows, staring straight ahead. Focus on orders and not the freak.
  75. Rasia scans the surroundings, feet moving automatically.
  76. <Darkling> She takes you a short distance before reaching a steel plated door, slides her card through again punching some numbers in. The door lets out a hiss and a clunk as it unlocks, then gears begin to creak as it slowly opens up.
  77. <Darkling> She enters the room and waves for the pilots to follow.
  78. <Lahja_Ilvainen> Lahja quickly follows, the tension slowly fading as the high security of the place ends up sparking both curiousity and wonder.
  79. Wilhelm_Faustus touches around his eye as he follows, wincing. He didn't look forward to Freyja scolding him for it.
  80. <Darkling> The room is dimly lit, the far wall covered in a dozen large paneled screens. In front of them is a large wooden desk, polished to a sheen. Behind the desk and sitting in a large deep red leather chair is whom you might assume to be the Commander.
  81. <Darkling> He's a tall, thin man, though not at all un-muscular. He's wearing a uniform that fits perfectly, not a wrinkle in sight on it. His face is lined with age, a black eyepatch covering his left eye, bolts on from the looks of it. His hair is ashen, a thin beard descending off his chin.
  82. Corrin snaps to attention, posture rigid. The effect is somewhat ruined by the results of the earlier scuffle.
  83. <Darkling> His fingers thrum on the table, on hand gloved in black leather, the other a dark metallic grey.
  84. Rasia utters a low, taught noise not unlike ball-bearings bouncing on a drum.
  85. <Lahja_Ilvainen> Lahja also stands at attention, giving her best salute. She opens her eyes a little wider than usual, trying not to look half asleep.
  86. <Darkling> "Pilots." He greets, his voice hoarse and gritty.
  87. <Corrin> "Sir." Corrin salutes.
  88. <Darkling> "Allow me to introduce myself. I am Commander Gunnar, you already know Agent Weaving and Vice-Commander Hunding." Both the agent and the Vice-comm nod from behind you.
  89. <Rasia> "Command." Rasia mumbles.
  90. <Lahja_Ilvainen> "Sirs." Lahja responds, letting her arm fall to her side. She's a little surprised, the Commander being quite different from what she was expecting.
  91. <Darkling> "We've a few things to discuss, and I am a very busy man, so I shall be brief about this." His metal gloved hand continues to thrum on the table in rhythm.
  92. Corrin listens intently, arms at his side and head completely still.
  93. <Darkling> "Firstly, I do wish to commend you on your efforts to protect this city and it's inhabitants. The masses are greatly indebted to you. It will be noted in your files about your bravery and courage."
  94. <Darkling> "Second, you will have to remain here at the base until the weeks end. Repairs are underway in the city, and we expect the streets clear of rubble by then, and safe to travel."
  95. <Rasia> "..."
  96. <Darkling> He pauses, picking up a glass of water on his desk, taking a sip and setting it back down.
  97. <Darkling> "Lastly, after this battle, it would be extremely difficult and costly to cover up the Aesir any further. Thus the senior members of NERV have decided to go public."
  98. Corrin stands in place, eyes watering and teeth pressed against each other. The bruises from earlier are starting to make themselves known, but he can't relax. Not in front of the Commander.
  99. <Darkling> His single grey eye scans over the pilots, reading their reactions.
  100. Rasia cocks her head, slowly, only half-comprehending.
  101. <Wilhelm_Faustus> If Wil has an opinion on the matter he keeps it masterfully hidden from his facial features.
  102. <Lahja_Ilvainen> Lahja quietly listens, looking largely pleased with the news. Especially the commendation, which takes the edge off of any disappointment from points two and three.
  103. <Darkling> "We will of course be keeping your identities a secret. The last thing we need is some religious fanaticist splattering your brains out and us having to find a replacement pilot."
  104. <Darkling> "With that out of the way, do you have any questions?"
  105. Corrin mentally wonders how much of a loss Pilot Wilhelm would be, then represses the thought. Keeping his posture is taking up most of his attention at the moment, anyway. The bite's started to throb. "No, sir."
  106. Rasia simply stares at her feet.
  107. <Wilhelm_Faustus> Sorry All-Father, no questions here.
  108. <Lahja_Ilvainen> "Are there any areas of combat or behavior you believe we should work on improving, sir?" Lahja asks.
  109. <Darkling> "I am not your tactical adviser, I would as her instead." Of course he is referring to Madeline at the moment.
  110. <Lahja_Ilvainen> "Yes, sir. That's my only question, sir."
  111. <Darkling> "Very well." He stands up, taking a long polished steel walking stick in his grip. "The Agent will see you back to your room then."
  112. <Darkling> The Agent nods to the Commander and opens the door back up for the pilots.
  113. Corrin heads out as ordered, movements stiff.
  114. <Lahja_Ilvainen> Lahja offers a final salute before heading out the door. She begins to relax a bit one she's out the door, but only slightly.
  115. Wilhelm_Faustus lingers a moment, eyeing the old man. Finally he dismissed whatever he'd been thinking about and follows the others.
  116. <Darkling> "Let's go Pilots. We haven't got all day now." She leads them back to the elevator. "We have some tasks to keep you busy throughout the day, at least until school reopens."
  117. <Rasia> Tasks..
  118. Corrin doesn't respond, instead following the Agent down the halls. A glance at Ivy.
  119. <Darkling> Ivy is quiet, a small smile across her face as Weaving leads you all back into the elevator and upwards again.
  120. <Lahja_Ilvainen> Lahja gets back in the elevator, curious as to what these tasks would be. Some kind of combat training, maybe?
