  15.
  16. **DECEASED PERSON:**
  17. MÄRTA DAGMAR ELISABETH PETTERSON
  18.
  19. **PRIME SUSPECT:**
  20.
  21. **ATTACHED DOCUMENTS:**
  22.
  23. On 23 May 1993 at 2:30 p.m, unit 5120 with Inspector Bergström and Officer Junel was called to Bogsätravägen 6, after assisted living personnel had found Märtha Pettersson dead in her own clothes closet.
  24. The unit made contact with assisted living workers Leif Bogren and Berenise Roman, emergency doctor Olof Berggren who arrived with car 725, ambulance driver 8161 Möller and 344 Persson. Märtha Pettersson's son Göran Pettersson was also found at the scene.
  25.
  26. Care worker Berenise Roman's statement: at 1 p.m on 23 May '93, Leif Bogren rang the door bell to Märtha's house in order to give her food. When noone opened the door, Leif returned to the assisted living company's office and told Berenise, Märtha's regular carer, what had happened.
  27. Berenise thought it was odd, since this had never happened for the past two years she had been caring for Märtha.
  28. Berenise then called the son Göran Pettersson, who lives in Tullinge, since he has keys to Märtha's apartment. The assisted living company does not possess any keys to her apartment. The son and care workers entered the apartment, they searched the rooms without finding Märtha.
  29. The last space they searched was the clothes cabinet which is located in the hallway, in the clothes cabinet they found Märtha lying dead on her back. Berenise called for a doctor and [page 2 starts here] an ambulance.
  30. Doctor Olof Berggren called the time of death at 2.30 p.m.
  31.
  32. Circumstances when the son and care workers arrived:
  33. The apartment door was locked with two locks. Berenise found this peculiar since Märtha had never before locked both locks when she was at home. A kitchen window was open and locked in place. The balcony door was open. The lights in the hallway were lit and the bedroom television was on.
  34. Three carpets were gathered in a pile on the hallway floor. The door to the clothes cabinet was shut and no lights within were on. Inside the clothes cabinet there was an odor of smoke and the deceased had burn injuries on her legs. Due to these circumstances police were called.
  35. The patrol unit found Märtha's apartment keys which could not be used to lock the door from the inside, it could be used to lock the door from the outside, however.
  36.
  37. Berenise also said: The last time Berenise had visited MÄrtha was on 19 May '93. At the time, Berenise didn't think there was anything abnormal, Märtha seemed energetic and happy. Since then, Berenise had been on vacation. On 22 May Elisabeth Retch might have visisted Märtha. Phone number to Retch, [number].
  38. According to Berenise, Märtha has never talked about taking her own life. Märtha hasn't had any problems with addiction either. During the Christmas of 1992, Märtha had felt a little depressed, probably due to loneliness.
  39.
  40. The son, Göran Pettersson said the following:
  41. During the Christmas of -92, Göran and his family had visisted Märtha. Märtha was confined to her bed and she couldn't muster enough strength to get up. Göran then drove Märtha to Huddinge Hospital where she was admitted. Märtha remained at the hospital for about one week. Göran does not know exactly why she was admitted.
  42. When Märtha was discharged she lived with Göran for approx. 6 weeks. The last time Göran and Märtha spoke was on 4 April 1993.
  43.
  44. Göran further said that he has two brothers who had cut ties with the mother, Märtha a few years ago. Göran had keys to Märtha's apartment and if anyone else has keys to the apartment, Göran does not know. One of the brothers lives in Stockholm and the other in Kil. Göran would be notifying Stockholm about Märtha's death.
  45. Adress to Göran Pettersson: [...]
  46.
  47. Göran also stated that the mother stored a larger sum of cash at home, around 20 000 to 30 000 crowns. Göran had attempted to convince the mother to deposit the money at a bank, but the mother did not want to do that.
  48.
  49. **APARTMENT DESCRIPTION**
  50. The apartment is situated on the first floor and consists of two rooms and kitchen. Inside the front door there's a hallway, the bedroom is located to the right of the hallway. The clothes cabinet is on the opposite side from the front door. [...]
  51. the apartment was clean and orderly, with the exception of the pile of carpets in the hallway.
  52.
  53. **Position of the body**
