Jin first arrived he did some background research on the events that happened in the past and the current time regarding the Saints. He proved to them that he had the passion enough to join them as the forth Saint, But with the recent events. It left the Saints busy, and in a state of Chaos preparing for the battle. Jin has gotten a hold of one of them briefly; However, the information given has left Jin with he seeks to conjure forth the power of Cosmos.

Avilium was the Saint that gave him the full explanation on how to call forth the Cosmos in-order to dawn the Cloths of the land. He stated that one person could only wear each Cloth. If anyone tries to use the Cloth, they would be in useless armor. He also informed Jin that Cosmos is the only way to use the gifts granted by the Cloth no matter how hard one might try it's impossible.

With the knowledge he receives, and the wounds from Zero's blade, he took it upon himself to attempt the call forth the Cosmos. Hoping it would accept his body not only because he's human, but it feels his passion and will to become something higher than what he is now.

Unsure if his calls are, answered, he could only hope that Avilium explanation was enough for him to understand Cosmos even if it's just the basics. Jin wanted to become the fourth saint and make a change, not be the one that sits in the background while countless people down.

After the events with Zero, and the signs of the coming war, he could only hope the stars would align and bless him with the knowledge and power to wield a Cloth. If this weren't the right time, then Jin would make another attempt; however, he was dead set on his goal of achieving that state of being no matter what.
