also due to her past, Darae had learnt to mask all her insecurities and weaknesses well with lies and good acting. she’s somehow able to produce a calming vibe despite being a wreck inside and can somehow speak confidently despite barely being able to whisper a word of refusal against the dark thoughts bottled inside.
hence, it’s very hard to read her and when people find out about her dark side, and they usually either fear her and stay away, or turn away from her out of disgust.

• OVERLY ATTACHED.
although this is a part of her that is rarely seen, it tends to become very obvious when a friend she trusted fully betrays/leaves her and she loses her usual calmness as she had always wanted someone that truly cares for her. although she doesn’t try to do anything drastic, she will definitely be hurt and may even show weakness in that moment by crying/not being able to show acceptance to the situation.
hence, she’s always caring for others in order to keep their “friendship”.

background :
Darae was born as the oldest of three to an extremely traditional korean family that favoured sons, with a younger sister, Cho Mirae and brother, Cho Minsung.

hence, Darae and her sister were brought up discriminated by their own family as mistakes that should never have been born. sadly, though their family celebrated the birth of the first male when Darae’s younger brother was born, he did not turn out flawless either as he was born with autism.

because of how Darae’s mother was unable to produce any “useful” children, she was seen as bad luck to the household, causing Darae’s grandparents to force a divorce upon their parents, leaving the siblings to fend for themselves against a drunkard of a father that hated the embarrassment they’d brought upon him and blamed them for being the cause of everything that went wrong in their household.

therefore, the three siblings grew up with no familial love apart from what they had between themselves which surprisingly, did not cause Darae to feel too worried as she believed that the love and bond between the three of them was enough.

unfortunately, tragedy always found its way back to the Cho siblings as gossip spreaded fast and the brokenness of their family soon made the headlines in school, causing them to be bullied and mocked by their schoolmates.

however, Darae continued to hang on to the belief that everything would turn out fine as long as she tried her best to supply her siblings with everything they needed and stood up to anyone that would bully them. despite how much pain she was in and how tired she was, Darae always forced herself to look confident and serene with her siblings in order to maintain order within their already broken household which gained her nothing but annoyance from Mirae that hated how she had to go through so much when she believed that Darae didn’t have to.

a couple of years went by and the rumours started dying down, allowing Darae to make a couple of friends and soon charm most of her schoolmates and teachers. things seemed to finally be becoming normal and it felt like Darae finally had control over her life.

however, life decided to play its final prank on Darae as her sister had eventually lost all will to continue fighting the voices of others and decided to put an end to her own suffering when she was 15, Darae 16 and their brother 12. shortly after the death of their sister, the government took custody of Minsung, most worried about his wellbeing as a discriminated minority living in a broken home, leaving Darae lonely and at a major loss.

it was at that point where Darae realised that sacrifice and blatant care alone was never enough. she blamed herself for sticking up for her sister, believing that it caused her to be bullied even more in school and blamed herself for not having the strength to force their father out of his depressed state so that he could prove that Minsung didn’t have to be placed under the government’s care. she believed that if she’d been stronger, willing to sacrifice a little more and more forgiving to those that showed malice towards her and her siblings, none of this would have happened to them and she would not have lost the only people she ever cared for.

hence, from that moment on, Darae sweared to never be as weak as she used to be as well as the most forgiving and loving person that she could be, hoping that it would stop her from losing anyone else she held dear. she learnt to hide her painful past behind a calm demeanour and has been trying to put her past behind, although truth be told, all she’d ever done was cage herself in the horrors of her past, allowing it to continue eating at her spirit.

what would make you start the killing and why? :
if she was promised a quiet and peaceful life with her brother.

suggested scenes with the group :
• chewing gum being really stressed out regarding the tension between everyone after the very first killing and starts, bawling while the characters are instantly split into the ‘don’t worry it’s going to be fine’ squad and the ‘you’re not the only one worried stop being a baby’ squad.

• someone (i’m thinking either one of the boys or boss or heartbreaker) says fuck it and decides to commit some crimes and break some rules before they die and somehow everyone else is dragged along.

• a small clique of characters that think that they can trust each other come together and secretly plan a way to bait the killer out by placing one of them (or somehow manipulating someone not from their clique) that they believe would be the most likely next target for the killer, to be alone and seemingly vulnerable but the plan ends up backfiring and their bait gets killed without any clue of who the killer is/one of them gets killed instead.

suggested scenes with love interest :
YUTA -
• initially hating her for constantly suggesting that all of them should form a truce and as they get to know each other more, claims to hate how sacrificial and broken she is, but constantly tries to protect her and ensures that she doesn’t do anything stupid that could get her hurt.

• they grow really close despite how different they are and for the first time, Darae genuinely trusts him as a close friend (maybe more;)), more than she did with her siblings, causing Yuta to be the first person that’s ever gotten her to share about herself and in return, he gives her his trust as well

• when the two finally get to be alone, Yuta promises Darae that after the killer is apprehended, he’ll ensure that she gets the peaceful and love-filled life that she’d always wanted in exchange for a promise from her that they’d never part ways, even if they end up falling in love with someone else (and they either live happily ever after or one/both of them die).

TAEIL -
• the two get along really well from the start as they’re both like the moms of the group.

• Taeil tried too hard to learn more about her when they get some time alone and ends up hitting some sore spots that Darae didn’t feel ready to share about yet, causing her to snap and they become really awkward around each other for a while after that.

• (if things ever patch up between them) Taeil consoling her like how she usually does with others as she apologises to him and spills tea about herself
