- Chapter 3: An Angus with Ange
- The movies had lied.
- Jack had presumed that when being flown to a foreign country on short notice, he’d fly first class.
- He, Sayo, and Lucas flew Economy. On a 767. At least Jack got the aisle seat.
- “Jackie, wake up.”, he had heard Lucas plead, a variety of times.
- After no response, the question changed.
- “Please Jack, wake up.”
- Jack was awake, of course – but he pretended he was asleep. This was because he knew two things.
- 1. Lucas had the window seat.
- and
- 2. Despite being thin as a twig, Lucas drank Big Gulps of Mr. Pibb every single morning.
- Jack continued to pretend to be asleep for the next five hours, until he actually fell asleep and woke up six hours later.
- "We're here, Jackie.", Sayo sang. Jack let the insulting nickname slide and opened his eyes.
- "Oh, now you're awake.", Lucas spat, miffed.
- "Well, we're here, ain't we?", Jack countered.
- "Did the bouncing wheels tip you off?", Lucas grumbled. "You know, not only did I have to crawl over you to use the rest-room, but I also got locked in during heavy turbulence."
- Jack laughed.
- The movies had lied.
- Despite meeting with a CEO for lunch, Lucas and Jack weren't picked up by a first class limo. Instead, they were forced to take the shuttle train from Narita.
- The train itself wasn't an issue - what was an issue was the simple fact that Lucas, Sayo, and Jack were to meet Miss Ushiromiya in Tokyo, and that Narita Airport, while technically a Tokyo Airport, was about 55 minutes away from the center of Tokyo.
- But finally, after managing to navigate the remarkably in-depth subway system, Jack made it to the resturant he was to meet Miss Ushiromiya.
- "Welcome to Ange Burger, home of the Ange Burger, may I take your order?", a red haired girl in front of a fast-food counter asked of the three.
- The movies had lied.
