  13. The galaxy has been locked in a war between two factions that intend to mutually annihilate each other.
  14.
  15. Tell me if you've heard this one before: Somewhere, on some backwater planet, in a backwater system, in a backwater sector of a backwater galaxy, a commander builds a metal extractor.
  16.
  17. Well, now I'm in the source for that joke, and I'm going to run from system to system, building up insane defenses with the bootstrapping I can get thanks to Hyperion being quite literally an infinite energy source. And while I'm setting up the systems in my wake, the defenses being relatively primitive to the locals as I'm specifically using technology from SupCom, I'll be bringing Hyperion close enough to the planetary surfaces to rapidly terraform them with its proto-crafter beam and populate them with the genome database's contents.
  18.
  19. Meanwhile, the Magi can have the tech database to disassemble at their whim. It'll be useful, no doubt.
  20.
  21. I'm avoiding the entirety of the war, otherwise, but won't everyone be surprised if they stumble across my work? I figure if I spend about two days in each system, I can probably populate about fifteen hundred star systems with habitable worlds. Maybe even drop in some humans.
  22.
  23. At least where it comes down to it, crafter beams trump nanolathes, if only due to the range I've got on it. I believe it was 82,000 miles last time I checked - which is a third of the way to the moon. Plenty of range.
