  52. [08:02.46] <DM> it's time for
  53. [08:02.47] <DM> ADVENTURE.
  54. [08:02.55] <DM> *opening anthem plays*
  55. [08:02.58] <DM> ---
  56. [08:04.13] <DM> Heartbeats.
  57. [08:04.20] <+azale> [done]
  58. [08:04.33] <DM> Shala Tell Ashara.
  59. [08:04.54] <DM> You are running. You are running as fast as you can. Trees flash by in the corner of your vision, gloomy redbarked, redneedled pine trees.
  60. [08:05.22] <DM> In the back of your mind you remember a lesson on the nature of light, and trees adapting to the lack of direct sunlight by adopting this color.
  61. [08:05.33] <DM> You are running.
  62. [08:05.37] <DM> You are breathing heavily.
  63. [08:05.39] <DM> And you are afraid.
  64. [08:06.05] <DM> Describe your feelings and actions.
  65. [08:06.17] <+TheCamper> [and change your nick]
  66. [08:06.19] <DM> (also, change your name)
  67. [08:06.23] * azale is now known as Shala
  68. [08:06.45] * Shala looks around panicked, trying to throw the chasers off her trail
  69. [08:07.28] * Shala can smell the ground and feel her lungs resist her relentless pushing on them
  70. [08:07.52] <DM> They are behind you. Close, not within sight, thanks to the dense undergrowth of these trees. You crash through a series of bushes. But you are close. Very, very close now, to Lake Chal. The borders of freedom. The borders of safety. The land slopes gently downwards. It is morning, though others from a previous age might claim that it is dusk.
  71. [08:08.45] <DM> Also, you are naked.
  72. [08:09.15] <DM> Your attempt to teleport in your fear clearly vanished the wrong object entirely. Thank the planes you still have your supplies.
  73. [08:09.43] <DM> Roll a perception check and a dexterity check.
  74. [08:09.49] * Shala has no spells prepared, no backup plans, just her legs and her eyes. The village is so close now she can smell the rusticness of these backwards people.
  75. [08:10.04] <+Shala> ?roll 1d20
  76. [08:10.04] <%tBot> Shala: 5 [5]
  77. [08:10.10] <+Shala> ?roll 1d20+3
  78. [08:10.10] <%tBot> Shala: 23 ([20] +3)
  79. [08:10.59] <+MysteriousNewcomer> ?roll 1d20+7
  80. [08:10.59] <%tBot> MysteriousNewcomer: 24 ([17] +7)
  81. [08:11.13] <DM> You leap gracefully over the roots of these massive old trees, seeing and hearing nothing but the fierce joy of freedom denied you for so long.
  82. [08:11.29] <DM> ...Until you crash through a laundry line you failed to see.
  83. [08:11.54] <+Shala> "Ahhh!!!"
  84. [08:12.08] <DM> A laundry line, right here in the wilderness, strung between two trees. The white underclothes strung there snap and wrap around your body, temporarily turning this into a PG-13 rated campaign.
  85. [08:12.32] <DM> A startled older man sits before a campfire, oggling you.
  86. [08:12.51] * TheCamper doth not ogle. Yet, simple scowls.
  87. [08:12.54] <+TheCamper> [simply]
  88. [08:13.02] * Shala feels despoiled
  89. [08:13.16] * Shala scrambles to her feet and makes to run off again, maybe with an extra garment
  90. [08:13.33] * Shala takes a good look at him first
  91. [08:13.34] <DM> Camper, thine pantyhose hath been absconded with.
  92. [08:13.47] <DM> Verily, an affront.
  93. [08:13.51] * TheCamper makes a worn, dun sound, like a clunker at the bottom of a forge, heat hardened and useless, in great need of discarding.
  94. [08:14.27] <DM> You look at each other awkwardly, saying nothing, a half-naked young wizardess and an ancient, broken down cog-in-the-machine
  95. [08:14.31] * TheCamper takes a deal longer to gather himself to his feet than he once needed.
  96. [08:14.34] <DM> And then Shala realizes she is being PURSUED.
  97. [08:15.10] * TheCamper emits a raspy, barely comprehensible, "Wait." Too late to do any good.
  98. [08:15.14] <+TheCamper> [D:]
  99. [08:15.19] * Shala hastily wraps it around her undercarriage so that the village people will be less likely to stone or eat or burn her, whatever it is they do
  100. [08:15.24] <DM> Harsh voices in a dark tongue are coming.
  101. [08:15.32] <DM> Shouts, as of yet indiscernible.
  102. [08:15.51] * TheCamper talks at himself in the flickering firelight.
  103. [08:16.40] <DM> Shala, will you roll a constitution check
  104. [08:16.44] * TheCamper grabs a pack of things, and begins to walk, then jog, though uncomfortably so, after the naked woman with his clothes.
  105. [08:17.06] <+Shala> ?roll 1d20+1
  106. [08:17.06] <%tBot> Shala: 4 ([3] +1)
  107. [08:17.14] <DM> Excellent. And how about another perception check?
  108. [08:17.23] <+Shala> ?roll 1d20
  109. [08:17.23] <%tBot> Shala: 8 [8]
  110. [08:17.24] * TheCamper groans at what comes.
  111. [08:17.50] <DM> Shala, you are so, so close now. But your mind is spent, your teleportation magic leaking out of it like a sieve with a few good holes gashed in it for good measure.
  112. [08:17.58] <DM> Your pace slackens.
  113. [08:18.03] <DM> Your legs buuuuuurn.
  114. [08:18.12] * Shala feels sharp shooting pains in her side
  115. [08:18.14] <DM> And, it's a good thing too, because you almost sprint right out of the forest and off a cliff.
  116. [08:18.44] <DM> You stop short at the edge of a tangle of sharp rocks overlooking a placid, slate grey-blue water.
  117. [08:18.49] <DM> Lake Chal.
  118. [08:18.54] <DM> The Quench of the Titans.
  119. [08:19.23] <DM> This allows the slowly jogging camper an opportunity to come up behind you.
  120. [08:19.39] <DM> He clanks, ambling.
  121. [08:20.09] * TheCamper is a grey bearded man, with dull eyes. A large pack slung over his shoulder rattles with steel. He wears chainmail, of a very old sort.
  122. [08:20.12] * Shala feels hopeless
  123. [08:20.16] <+TheCamper> "Give. Them back."
  124. [08:20.30] * TheCamper sounds extraordinarily rusty.
  125. [08:20.36] <+Shala> "What....these?"
  126. [08:20.45] * Shala tries to cover herself
  127. [08:20.45] <DM> You can see the sky again for the first time in hours. It roils, occasional slants of sunlight coming down through the thick, sulfurous cloud layer.
  128. [08:20.48] <+Shala> "It's all I have!"
  129. [08:20.54] <+TheCamper> "It's all I had."
  130. [08:21.04] * Shala looks up at the sky
  131. [08:21.15] <+Shala> "Fine, old forest man, take me down...there!"
  132. [08:21.17] * Shala points to the lake
  133. [08:21.19] * TheCamper sniffs at the wind.
  134. [08:21.25] <+Shala> "And you can have your garments back!"
  135. [08:21.26] <DM> Shala
  136. [08:21.34] <DM> Roll Knowledge: Geography
  137. [08:21.46] <+Shala> ?roll 1d20+3
  138. [08:21.46] <%tBot> Shala: 19 ([16] +3)
  139. [08:21.51] <+TheCamper> [How far down is this cliff?]
  140. [08:22.22] <DM> It's rocks all the way down. Not walkable here.
  141. [08:22.42] <+Shala> "Not the lake, the village a ways away!"
  142. [08:22.53] <+Shala> "I...think...I hope..."
  143. [08:23.06] <DM> The cliff is not sheer, but piles of rocks tumbling and jumbling down.
  144. [08:23.09] * TheCamper glances back at the forest.
  145. [08:23.12] <+TheCamper> "What hounds you?"
  146. [08:23.23] <DM> Whatever it is, they draw, near.
  147. [08:23.27] <DM> Camper, a perception check if you please.
  148. [08:23.35] <+TheCamper> ?roll 1d20
  149. [08:23.35] <%tBot> TheCamper: 18 [18]
  150. [08:23.45] <+Shala> "THEM!"
  151. [08:23.49] * Shala points into the forest
  152. [08:23.52] <+Shala> "Can't you hear?"
  153. [08:23.59] <DM> There is shouting.
  154. [08:24.24] <+Shala> "Phantom steeds, powerful magic...they'll vaporize us into the tower! We'll be slaves or worse!"
  155. [08:24.29] <DM> Shala, you will die here if you don't escape.
  156. [08:24.30] * TheCamper almost reaches for the sword in his pack.
  157. [08:24.40] <DM> Or, a fate worse than death.
  158. [08:24.43] * Shala turns the key over in her hand nervously
  159. [08:24.43] <DM> This, you know.
  160. [08:24.56] <+TheCamper> [can she jump?]
  161. [08:25.09] <DM> It would be sensible to track the cliffline north, rather than jumping down.
  162. [08:25.19] <+Shala> "I'm sorry, but you're not safe either forest man. You have to come with me to the village, they cant reach us there."
  163. [08:25.27] * Shala is talking a mile a minute
  164. [08:25.32] <DM> "SHALA TELL ASHARA!"
  165. [08:25.40] <DM> The shouts are coming closer.
  166. [08:25.41] * TheCamper gestures to hustle.
  167. [08:25.59] * Shala hopes the old man can still run
  168. [08:26.07] * TheCamper whispers to himself.
  169. [08:26.38] <DM> You hustle, a bit, but you're both tired.
  170. [08:26.43] <DM> One from exertion, the other from...well.
  171. [08:26.46] <DM> Life.
  172. [08:26.57] <DM> The voice repeats.
  173. [08:27.04] <DM> "Shaaaala Tell Ashaaaaraaaaaaa?"
  174. [08:27.07] <DM> Now it sounds a bit...gloating.
  175. [08:27.20] <+TheCamper> "...don't say anything."
  176. [08:27.55] * TheCamper leads the naked woman.
  177. [08:28.01] <DM> After another minute or so, you come to a REAL obstacle. A huge, redneedle pine tree has fallen, its branches blocking the path north. The trunk, widthwise, is perhaps ten or twelve feet high.
  178. [08:28.04] * Shala looks at him with big eyes
  179. [08:28.29] <DM> It is partially rotted, but very, very big.
  180. [08:28.35] * TheCamper nods to the tree.
  181. [08:28.37] <+TheCamper> "Over."
  182. [08:28.47] <DM> "Stop."
  183. [08:28.55] * You are now known as Floth
  184. [08:28.58] <Floth> "MOVE AND SHE DIES."
  185. [08:29.13] <Floth> Figures enter the clearing.
  186. [08:29.16] * You are now known as DM
  187. [08:29.22] * TheCamper exhales with the speed of a raging slug.
  188. [08:29.36] <+TheCamper> "See what you've done?"
  189. [08:29.40] <DM> Five ragged tribesmen, with wild hair and eyes, fan out to surround you. On their rags and shields are painted the four-arrowed emblem worn by the tribes loyal to the conjurers’ tower. Four are non-descript, but one is a huge hulking brute carrying a small log with chips of obsidian embedded in it.
  190. [08:29.41] * Shala backs away to the tree, desperately trying to claw as much space between them and her as possible
  191. [08:29.42] * TheCamper says at a branch.
  192. [08:29.58] <DM> Dark hair, dark eyes, pale skin.
  193. [08:30.17] <DM> Behind them flutters a creature.
  194. [08:30.26] <DM> They are lead by a creature with smooth red skin, a twisted black goatee, little gently flapping leathery wings and cloven hooves, about the size of a child of ten or eleven...but it is anything but.
  195. [08:30.32] * TheCamper unfurls his pack, and draws a sheathed sword from the mess of it.
  196. [08:30.40] * Shala feels her lips quivering and limbs trembling
  197. [08:30.44] <DM> The tribesmen grip their weapons tighter.
  198. [08:30.50] * You are now known as Floth
  199. [08:30.55] <Floth> "There is nooo need for violence here."
  200. [08:31.04] * TheCamper harrumphs.
  201. [08:31.11] * Floth flutters to the ground, hooves shuffling in the humus.
  202. [08:31.30] <Floth> "You seem to be on the wrong side of the sea, knight."
  203. [08:31.35] * TheCamper whispers, "I'd rather not."
  204. [08:31.57] * TheCamper ignores the devil.
  205. [08:32.00] <Floth> "Please, allow me...to introduce myself."
  206. [08:32.04] * Floth ignores your ignoring.
  207. [08:32.14] * TheCamper kicks his shield from within the mess of pack.
  208. [08:32.26] <Floth> "I am the familiar of Azri Bel Azimel."
  209. [08:32.33] <Floth> "Oh yes, Shala, she knows! She knows my master."
  210. [08:32.35] * Floth giggles.
  211. [08:32.52] * TheCamper dons it. The sigil once on its face now sits in ruin, scratched out, mostly.
  212. [08:32.52] <Floth> "He is on the Planar Council. The Planar Council knows your name."
  213. [08:33.09] * Shala closes her eyes
  214. [08:33.17] <+Shala> "I'm not going back."
  215. [08:33.24] <Floth> "Shala...you have made a mistake. I am not HUNTING you."
  216. [08:33.49] <Floth> "I'm HELPING you! We, are here, to bring you back safely. And if you come of your own will, the Council, will be...very merciful."
  217. [08:33.52] * TheCamper says at the air near Floth's right, "That's cruel."
  218. [08:34.03] <Floth> "Very."
  219. [08:34.13] <Floth> "You will even get your old life back. Just as it was."
  220. [08:34.20] * TheCamper flicks a disregarding glance.
  221. [08:34.26] * You are now known as DM
  222. [08:34.35] <DM> The tribesmen are slowly edging closer.
  223. [08:34.46] <+Shala> "I'm never going back"
  224. [08:34.55] * Shala barely feels her voice croak out the respone
  225. [08:35.02] * TheCamper grips the hilt tighter, to a cry of old leather cord.
  226. [08:35.05] <DM> "Don't be afraid, Shala...everything will be fine."
  227. [08:35.08] * Shala edges closer to the rusty knight
  228. [08:35.11] * You are now known as Floth
  229. [08:35.15] <Floth> Shala, roll a will save.
  230. [08:35.25] * Floth smiles, the picture of innocence.
  231. [08:35.28] <+Shala> ?roll 1d20+1
  232. [08:35.28] <%tBot> Shala: 5 ([4] +1)
  233. [08:35.33] * You are now known as DM
  234. [08:36.10] * TheCamper seems to be considering things.
  235. [08:36.32] <+Shala> "Get OUT!"
  236. [08:36.52] <DM> Shala keens and holds her head.
  237. [08:36.56] * You are now known as Floth
  238. [08:37.19] <Floth> "I do not know what the Wardens have planned..."
  239. [08:37.19] <+TheCamper> "I'd rather not do this."
  240. [08:37.29] <Floth> "But dear knight, simply walk away and nobody has to get hurt."
  241. [08:37.38] <Floth> "Nobody wants a war."
  242. [08:37.45] <+TheCamper> "Agreed."
  243. [08:37.54] <Floth> "Very good."
  244. [08:38.03] <Floth> "Take her." [to the tribesmen]
  245. [08:38.05] * TheCamper draws his sword, unusually reflective, humming, almost, in song.
  246. [08:38.13] * You are now known as DM
  247. [08:38.24] <DM> The tribals start to edge forward, but then hesitate again.
  248. [08:38.26] * Shala can feel her own familiar, a small greensting scorpion, crawl from her hair intending to defend her against all comers
  249. [08:38.50] * You are now known as Floth

  257. [08:39.52] * Shala can't even comprehend the proper philosophical comeback right now, which distresses her almost as much as her current condition
  258. [08:40.20] <Floth> "I realize this is some sort of joke, but our time here is very short."
  259. [08:40.30] <+TheCamper> "If only."

  778. [10:04.49] <DM> So you got 2.
  779. [10:04.55] * MysteriousNewcomer finds a rock
  780. [10:05.01] * MysteriousNewcomer that shit is METAL
  781. [10:05.16] <DM> Speaking of metal, why don't you just take the skull and we can move this scorpion train down into the station
  782. [10:05.32] * TheCamper scrubs the blood off his shield with a handful of dust.
  783. [10:05.46] * MysteriousNewcomer takes out the big knife again, and cuts the brute's head off
  784. [10:05.48] <DM> The three of you regard one another.
  785. [10:06.00] * MysteriousNewcomer ties it to his belt with some string
  786. [10:06.04] <DM> A strangely-dressed stranger, all in smooth black leather that looks...well, different from anything you've seen.
  787. [10:06.19] <DM> An old, grizzled veteran of...something, you aren't quite sure, not quite right in the head.
  788. [10:06.29] * Shala feels weird with her ladyparts rubbing up against the insect's hardshell
  789. [10:06.45] <DM> And a buxom, bright eyed, wizardess having her first sexual experience with a giant familiar D:
  790. [10:06.57] <DM> I have no idea if you're buxom, but, for the sake of the narrative
  791. [10:07.01] * TheCamper finds nothing of value here.
  792. [10:07.08] <DM> There isn't much.
  793. [10:07.11] * Shala tries to regain her composure, drilled into her from an early age
  794. [10:07.15] <+Shala> "Get on come on!"
  795. [10:07.23] <DM> The obsidian spears are crudely made.
  796. [10:07.28] * TheCamper coughs out a chortle.
  797. [10:07.30] <DM> A few cheap stone idols in their pockets, perhaps.
  798. [10:07.35] <+TheCamper> "I don't ride scorpions."
  799. [10:07.42] * You are now known as Scorpion
  800. [10:07.46] <+Shala> "You do today!"
  801. [10:07.47] <Scorpion> *chitters angrily*
  802. [10:07.50] * Shala protests
  803. [10:07.53] * MysteriousNewcomer looks for some sort of light cloth with which to bandage his bleeding side
  804. [10:08.00] * Shala throws it at him
  805. [10:08.09] <+Shala> "Here, it's not covering anything anyway"
  806. [10:08.18] <+MysteriousNewcomer> "Thank you!"
  807. [10:08.32] <+TheCamper> [I technically took that back]
  808. [10:08.40] <+Shala> [yea but thy said i had it :p ]

  810. [10:08.47] * You are now known as DM
  811. [10:08.53] <+Shala> "Yes, scorpion, that is possible"
  812. [10:08.54] <DM> or, in the course of the battle, the rip tore it in twain
  813. [10:09.11] * MysteriousNewcomer tries to bandage the wound as best he can
  814. [10:09.17] <DM> The real lesson here is, we don't rip off strips of cloth
  815. [10:09.20] <+MysteriousNewcomer> "We go where?"
  816. [10:09.22] <DM> We just use the entire goddamn thing
  817. [10:09.32] <DM> Newcomer, do you have Heal as a skill
  818. [10:09.36] <DM> Among your many, many skills
  819. [10:09.40] <+TheCamper> "We go nowhere."
  820. [10:10.06] <+Shala> "What? But the VILLAGE is over there!"
  821. [10:10.11] <+TheCamper> "You owe me something."
  822. [10:10.12] <+Shala> "They cant GET US there1"
  823. [10:10.16] * Shala huffs
  824. [10:10.20] <+Shala> "What??"
  825. [10:10.23] <+Shala> "What is it?"
  826. [10:10.34] * TheCamper points to the tattered underwear.
  827. [10:10.38] <DM> Scorpion looks like he's about ready to bust you a new one.
  828. [10:10.55] <+TheCamper> "That was my last pair."
  829. [10:11.05] <+Shala> "I swear, if a portal snatched you right now I would thank it personally"
  830. [10:11.07] <+MysteriousNewcomer> I do not, dm
  831. [10:11.12] * Shala tosses the underoos
  832. [10:11.19] <DM> [Really?]
  833. [10:11.21] <DM> [Jesus]
  834. [10:11.23] <+Shala> "Now can weg go?"
  835. [10:11.31] <+Shala> "Can you heal our new friend or anything?"
  836. [10:11.34] <DM> [They didn't teach the scout basic first aid]
  837. [10:11.38] * TheCamper considers them, ruin in his hands.
  838. [10:11.57] <DM> The naked shala (Who at least still has a rucksack with her spellbook) mounts Scorpion's neck.
  839. [10:12.01] <+TheCamper> "Of what? Baby marks?"
  840. [10:12.07] <DM> Do the rest of you climb on?
  841. [10:12.11] <+TheCamper> [no]
  842. [10:12.36] * MysteriousNewcomer tries to run
  843. [10:12.44] <+MysteriousNewcomer> [how well do I do?]
  844. [10:12.53] <DM> Strength check.

  850. [10:13.33] <DM> You stumble, and wince.
  851. [10:13.38] <DM> He caught you pretty good in the side.
  852. [10:13.49] <DM> You're gonna have to treat it.
  853. [10:13.50] <+TheCamper> "Why?"
  854. [10:13.57] <+MysteriousNewcomer> [he got a quarter of my health :p]
  855. [10:13.58] * Shala grimaces
  856. [10:14.15] <+MysteriousNewcomer> "Why?"
  857. [10:14.21] <DM> Perception check, everybody!
  858. [10:14.21] * Shala jumps off the scorpion and reluctantly goes to the newcomer's side
  859. [10:14.21] * TheCamper considers the cloth in his hands.

  869. [10:15.15] * Shala regrets her outburst of anger
  870. [10:15.17] * TheCamper sighs a long, drawn out dour note.

  884. [10:16.09] * MysteriousNewcomer yields to the old man
  885. [10:16.31] <DM> The fizzing of the conjured energies collapse into a low hum.
  886. [10:16.43] <DM> The portal is open, deeper in the forest.
  887. [10:16.43] <+TheCamper> "I don't want to hear it."
  888. [10:17.05] <+MysteriousNewcomer> "To us need go"
  889. [10:17.13] * TheCamper jogs off, not offering him a hand up.

  897. [10:17.41] * TheCamper jogs in the direction of the town, muttering.
  898. [10:17.55] * MysteriousNewcomer follows the old man
  899. [10:18.01] <DM> It is immediately obvious that Shala on her scorpion can move much faster than the stubborn idiots not on one.
  900. [10:18.17] <+Shala> [magic wins again]
  901. [10:18.28] <DM> It chitters and scrambles ahead, moving quickly across the uneven terrain.
  902. [10:18.37] <DM> Apparently the knight wants to run with a Wounded Knee?
  903. [10:18.42] <DM> Guess he didn't study history, huh
  904. [10:19.01] * TheCamper doesn't want to hear it from the narrator.
  905. [10:19.06] <+MysteriousNewcomer> "Wait, Shala!'
  906. [10:19.17] * Shala looks back
  907. [10:19.23] * Shala judges his distance
  908. [10:19.38] <DM> The limping newcomer catches up. Having left the clearing behind, you hear the sound of soldiers and more horns.
  909. [10:19.52] <+MysteriousNewcomer> "Wait for old man!"
  910. [10:20.08] <+TheCamper> "Of course they do. Shut up."
  911. [10:20.10] <DM> You REALLY don't have much time.
  912. [10:20.49] <+MysteriousNewcomer> "Old man, ride animal!"
  913. [10:21.13] * MysteriousNewcomer talks with energy, now tinged with notes of pain
  914. [10:21.16] * Shala feels like screaming
  915. [10:21.41] <DM> "Two soldiers on giant geckos ride into the clearing, holding bows. They fire them at the newcomer and at the knight.
  916. [10:21.48] <+TheCamper> "Fuckin' sour apples."

  926. [10:22.26] * Shala digs into the shell to encourage it to go faster
  927. [10:22.33] <+TheCamper> they both hit, of course
  928. [10:22.43] <DM> The scorpion finally accelerates, but arrows flick into both of your backs as you run away.
  929. [10:23.14] <DM> Now the countryside begins to blur beneath your feet, the scorpion riding quickly, the two geckos with soldiers in pursuit quick behind.

  937. [10:23.54] <DM> The chase continues, with the geckos slowly gaining.
  938. [10:23.58] * Shala wonders if all people outside of the tower are this dimwitted
  939. [10:24.08] * MysteriousNewcomer slumps forward on to whoever is unlucky enough to be in front of him
  940. [10:24.08] <DM> "Heel in the name of the Tower!"
  941. [10:24.16] <DM> "Heel!"
  942. [10:24.24] * TheCamper grumbles nonsense language in Shala's ear.
  943. [10:24.43] <DM> Does anyone wish to do anything?
  944. [10:25.11] <+TheCamper> Nothing to do, we're on a mount and none of us have mounted combat :p
  945. [10:25.24] <DM> You can still fire a weapon mounted
  946. [10:25.32] * Shala feels her breasts in the breeze
  947. [10:25.39] <+TheCamper> don't have a ranged weapon
  948. [10:25.47] <DM> ork, anything?
  949. [10:25.50] <+Shala> [i mean, she feels it being felt, she's not feeling herself up]
  950. [10:25.54] <+MysteriousNewcomer> arrows :p
  951. [10:26.04] * MysteriousNewcomer tries to turn and nock an arrow
  952. [10:26.19] <DM> One of the soldiers comes up alongside and grabs for the reins. This one is much better armored, in some kind of shiny crystal armor.
  953. [10:26.33] <+TheCamper> [I'd hope she's not feeling herself up]
  954. [10:26.51] <DM> Shala, perform a Ride check

  959. [10:27.43] <DM> It makes a terrible sad meeping sound.
  960. [10:28.11] <DM> The soldier himself is thrown from the reins. The other gecko rider falls back to check on his comrade.
  961. [10:28.12] * Shala fistpumps
  962. [10:28.30] * MysteriousNewcomer bleeds all over the old man
  963. [10:28.46] * MysteriousNewcomer puts away his bow and slumps forward

  965. [10:29.00] * TheCamper is simply holding onto to Shala's waist in an attempt to not fall off.
  966. [10:29.17] <DM> It looks like you left the soldiers behind, and are moving fast enough that their mage masters haven't caught up either.
  967. [10:29.56] <DM> The humus and collected detritus filled clearing gradually give way to a dirt track, weaving between the blood red pines.
  968. [10:30.22] <DM> Water from last night's rain still drips from some of them.
  969. [10:30.32] <+TheCamper> "No."
  970. [10:30.42] * Shala looks around
  971. [10:30.45] <+Shala> "No...what?"
  972. [10:30.57] * TheCamper doesn't answer.
  973. [10:31.04] <DM> A softly humming wind-catcher spins around one of the trees.
  974. [10:31.10] <DM> From another, hangs a dreamcatcher.
  975. [10:31.17] <DM> Or, in this case, a mage catcher.
  976. [10:31.47] <DM> You soon begin to see small charms hung from many of the trees.
  977. [10:32.01] * Shala feels a weird suffocating feeling
  978. [10:32.05] <DM> Strings of animal bones and feathers, twisting in the damp breeze.
  979. [10:32.15] <+Shala> "I think...I should release the spell now"
  980. [10:32.24] <DM> You do feel uncomfortable, Shala
  981. [10:32.43] <+Shala> [can i see the village from here?[
  982. [10:32.50] * TheCamper jumps off.
  983. [10:33.04] * TheCamper is now known as TheKnight
  984. [10:33.08] <DM> You have come into the territory of the Oytu.
  985. [10:33.16] <DM> You do not see the village yet, but it must be coming close.
  986. [10:33.30] <DM> You see a break of dim light. It is noon.

  988. [10:33.37] <DM> And the trees appear to thin out ahead.
  989. [10:33.45] <DM> Scout, during that harsh ride, you took

  992. [10:34.16] <+BleedingArcher> [is that on top of the 5 I've already taken?]
  993. [10:34.18] * TheKnight unstraps his shield from his pack, and grabs Shala by the shoulder.
  994. [10:34.20] <DM> Yes.
  995. [10:34.23] <+TheKnight> "Stand still."
  996. [10:34.31] * BleedingArcher can't stand
  997. [10:34.32] <+Shala> "But I..."
  998. [10:34.54] * TheKnight straps the shield on Shala, covering her front, with the straps tied on her back.
  999. [10:34.59] <+TheKnight> [;)]
1000. [10:35.21] <DM> Once more, you have found a shield maiden.

  1002. [10:35.25] <+TheKnight> "I expect that back."
1003. [10:35.33] <DM> It has been a long time, though.
1004. [10:35.42] <+TheKnight> [it's a large shield, so it should cover all the bits you need covered]
1005. [10:35.57] <DM> And who knows, you might just set a trend!
  1006. [10:35.57] <+TheKnight> [if a bit stiff]
  1007. [10:36.02] <+Shala> "Thank you"
1008. [10:36.17] <DM> Cotton is out, steel shields are IN
1009. [10:36.18] <+Shala> "Now, you too, descend from the creature. I'm going to release the spell."
1010. [10:36.18] * TheKnight raps his knuckle on the steel.
1011. [10:36.27] * Shala caresses the scorpion and releases the spell
  1012. [10:36.27] <+TheKnight> [I already did]
1013. [10:36.41] * BleedingArcher curls up on the ground
  1014. [10:36.44] <+TheKnight> "Don't lose this."
  1015. [10:36.47] <DM> He's badly hurt.
  1016. [10:36.51] <+TheKnight> "It's older than I am."
  1017. [10:36.56] <+Shala> "I think that would be...challenging...to do"
1018. [10:37.01] <DM> that was a difficult ride, made more difficult by the reluctance of a certain someone to follow the group
  1019. [10:37.03] * Shala waddles
  1020. [10:37.08] <DM> (:p)
1021. [10:37.36] * TheKnight carries his sword, sheathed, in his left hand, thumb on the guard.
1022. [10:37.53] <DM> There is a clickity clack of some bones clattering against each other.
  1023. [10:38.33] <+TheKnight> "I don't linger, Toweress."
  1024. [10:38.56] <+TheKnight> "You'll make reparations, then I'll leave this place."
1025. [10:39.13] * TheKnight glances at something to the right.
  1026. [10:39.19] <+TheKnight> "No, not happening."
1027. [10:39.30] * Shala is too tired to really register that
  1028. [10:40.03] * BleedingArcher writhes a little bit

1037. [10:41.41] <DM> But you are certainly in the lands of the Oytu
1038. [10:41.53] <DM> One of the tribes of the Unforgotten Country
1039. [10:41.56] <DM> To which you have finally come.
1040. [10:42.35] <DM> Given the archer's prone position on the ground, it seems that someone will have to help him.
1041. [10:42.53] * Shala is naked and wearing a shield on her front
1042. [10:43.37] <DM> Scorpion nestles his way back into your hair, feeling more than a little bit smug about his awesomeness just before.
1043. [10:43.57] <+TheKnight> [why is he on the ground?]
1044. [10:44.17] <DM> He suffered a wound that was then exascerbated by hard riding, and has lost a lot of blood.
  1045. [10:44.23] <+BleedingArcher> [I'm at 2/8 hp. feeling a little under the weather]
  1046. [10:44.34] * TheKnight stands over him.
1047. [10:44.35] <DM> Perhaps he could walk, if aided?
  1048. [10:44.41] <+TheKnight> "Get up.
  1049. [10:44.42] <+TheKnight> "
1050. [10:45.01] * BleedingArcher pushes himself up to sittin
  1051. [10:45.15] <+TheKnight> "You're pathetic."
1052. [10:45.22] * Shala stands, hands on hips
  1053. [10:45.32] <+Shala> "Do you need help?"
1054. [10:45.33] * BleedingArcher pushes to his feet
  1055. [10:45.56] <+TheKnight> "Don't touch him."
1056. [10:46.29] <+TheKnight> "He can walk it off."
  1057. [10:46.33] * TheKnight gruffs.
1058. [10:46.50] * BleedingArcher looks a little confused by the expression
1059. [10:47.16] <+Shala> "You know, he did save our lives"
  1060. [10:47.17] * TheKnight gives him a shove.
1061. [10:47.18] * BleedingArcher tries to look at the shaft of the arrow sticking in his back but is a little challenged by the whole turning thing
  1062. [10:47.23] * BleedingArcher falls
  1063. [10:47.30] * Shala grimaces
1064. [10:47.38] * BleedingArcher takes out the big knife
1065. [10:47.39] <+TheKnight> "Are you gonna fall over every time someone shoots you in the back?"
  1066. [10:47.54] * Shala scoffs
1067. [10:48.07] <+Shala> "Let's go arrow boy, maybe someone in the village can help"
  1068. [10:48.18] * Shala takes his arm
  1069. [10:48.21] <DM> Camraderie!
1070. [10:48.32] <+Shala> [over her should, like a sling thingy]
  1071. [10:48.46] * TheKnight talks to himself.
1072. [10:48.47] * BleedingArcher gives death eyes to the knight
1073. [10:48.59] <DM> The shield nudges him uncomfortably in the side, but you finally offer the guy who literally saved your lives some basic assistance
  1074. [10:49.02] <DM> Hooray
1075. [10:49.15] * BleedingArcher tries to keep his weight on his own feet
1076. [10:49.23] * TheKnight combs through his beard and hair.
  1077. [10:49.31] <+BleedingArcher> "Thanksss..."
1078. [10:49.35] <DM> You begin to slowly limp your way forwards, the eerie swirling charms spinning in a breeze that doesn't really seem to be there.
1079. [10:49.52] <DM> In the clearing, up ahead, backlit by the light from the field beyond, is a silhouette.
  1080. [10:49.59] <DM> A person, perhaps.
  1081. [10:50.03] * TheKnight whispers, "He'll regret it."
1082. [10:50.06] <DM> They are in profile, looking to the side.
  1083. [10:50.23] * CloakedFigure turns and stares.
1084. [10:50.51] * Shala stops and stares back
1085. [10:51.02] * TheKnight walks right on by Shala and Limpy.
  1086. [10:51.11] * BleedingArcher looks up
1087. [10:51.18] * CloakedFigure blinks and looks around this odd group.
  1088. [10:51.23] <+Shala> "Who...who is it?"
1089. [10:51.27] * BleedingArcher 's severed head seems to look to the newcomer too
  1090. [10:51.50] <+TheKnight> "Who cares."
  1091. [10:52.02] <+CloakedFigure> "Well, I do."
1092. [10:52.07] <DM> You see a figure, muscular and compact. For those of you who have read, vaguely like one of the vanished delvers of ancient times. They are hooded, wearing a heavy cloak, and carrying a backpack. Besides them waits a placid donkey, with riding bags, and some bits of metal and equipment attached to him.
1093. [10:52.13] * TheKnight moves with all the grace of a melon in a briar patch.
1094. [10:52.37] <+Shala> "If you have already forgotten, sir knight"
  1095. [10:52.38] <+CloakedFigure> "Heavens thunderin', what brings a shieldmaiden on a scorpion?"
1096. [10:52.50] <+Shala> "Our enemies TELEPORT to our whereabouts and ride GIANT LIZARDS"
1097. [10:53.00] <DM> They are strong looking, but not tall, and their face is hidden in darkness.
1098. [10:53.06] <+TheKnight> "You seem far more concerned than I."
1099. [10:53.18] <+Shala> "Though, you're no teleporter or lizard rider are you?"
1100. [10:53.21] * Shala says to the cloaked man
  1101. [10:53.39] <+CloakedFigure> "Well, leastaways not a lizard rider, last I checked."
1102. [10:53.43] * CloakedFigure looks back at the donkey.
  1103. [10:53.57] <+CloakedFigure> "You's still a donkey, right Barg?"
1104. [10:54.02] * You are now known as Barg
  1105. [10:54.08] <Barg> "Frf."
1106. [10:54.11] * You are now known as DM
1107. [10:54.19] * TheKnight tops by the donkey.
  1108. [10:54.22] <+TheKnight> [stops]
  1109. [10:54.49] * TheKnight is silent.
  1110. [10:54.51] <+Shala> "Well, that's a relief"
  1111. [10:54.52] <+CloakedFigure> "You seem familiar."
1112. [10:55.04] * TheKnight has unblinking eye contact with the donkey.
1113. [10:55.23] <DM> The donkey holds many truths, no lies, and in its eyes are held the placid contemplation of the infinite universe.
1114. [10:55.25] <+CloakedFigure> "But what does bring your odd assortment through these parts today?"
1115. [10:55.46] <+TheKnight> "The woman stole my drawers."
1116. [10:55.49] * Shala is suddenly thankful for the shield
1117. [10:55.58] <+CloakedFigure> "Doesn't look like she has 'em anymore."
  1118. [10:55.59] <+Shala> "Chased by plane-hopping murderers"
1119. [10:56.05] <DM> There is a naked, young woman wearing a shield with a sigil mostly scratched off of the steel, but some faint symbols remain.
1120. [10:56.05] <+TheKnight> "No, she has my shield, now."
1121. [10:56.10] <DM> The knight is covered in mud, and blood.
1122. [10:56.15] <DM> Most of it not his own.
  1123. [10:56.21] <+CloakedFigure> "Plane hopping?"
  1124. [10:56.23] * BleedingArcher bleeds
  1125. [10:56.27] <+CloakedFigure> "Pursuit?"
1126. [10:56.28] <DM> The archer's smooth black leather vest is torn.
1127. [10:56.34] <+CloakedFigure> "Well we'd best get you into town then."
1128. [10:56.36] <DM> He also has an arrow literally sticking from his back.
  1129. [10:56.48] <DM> And he's still carrying a ton of stuff.
1130. [10:56.59] * TheKnight also has an arrow in his back.
  1131. [10:57.27] * Shala feels a rush of relief
1132. [10:57.30] <DM> Shoulder, where the chain mail trails off.
1133. [10:57.30] <+CloakedFigure> "Here, you overloaded? My friend here can carry some."
1134. [10:57.51] * CloakedFigure pats the donkey on the flank.
1135. [10:57.58] <+Shala> "Maybe the knight can take him for a ride, they seem like kindred spirits"
1136. [10:58.01] <DM> The town of Oytul is very close indeed.
  1137. [10:58.06] <+TheKnight> "I won't dally in this village."
1138. [10:58.27] <+CloakedFigure> "No, you don't seem like one to dally. But your friends look like they could use a bit of time."
  1139. [10:58.41] <+CloakedFigure> "Come along now."
  1140. [10:58.49] <+TheKnight> "They're free to mine."
  1141. [10:58.57] * TheKnight pets the donkey.
1142. [10:59.31] <DM> Shala, did you get a spare set of clothes? Like when you fled?
1143. [10:59.33] * TheKnight spits up some blood, contemplating the meaning of it.
1144. [10:59.51] <DM> None of it has any meaning, Knight.
1145. [10:59.59] <+TheKnight> "Who is the man of this town?"
1146. [11:00.05] * CloakedFigure digs through a bag and pulls out a blanket.
  1147. [11:00.06] <+TheKnight> "Now, I mean."
1148. [11:00.35] * CloakedFigure tosses the blanket to the shield-lady.
  1149. [11:01.21] <+CloakedFigure> "This is Mitsaq's town, 'far as I can tell."
1150. [11:01.39] <+Shala> [the only clothes i bought while char prepping was some padded armor]
  1151. [11:01.47] <+Shala> "Mitsaq!"
  1152. [11:01.50] <+TheKnight> "And cotton?"
1153. [11:02.06] <+TheKnight> "Or is it all dust?"
  1154. [11:02.13] <+Shala> "I need to speak with him!"
  1155. [11:02.16] <+Shala> "Take me to him!"
  1156. [11:02.29] <+BleedingArcher> "Healer...."
1157. [11:02.36] <+CloakedFigure> "Well you're headin' in the right direction."
  1158. [11:03.07] <+TheKnight> "He doesn't know."
1159. [11:03.18] * TheKnight grunts, thumbing the sword.
1160. [11:03.25] <DM> Beyond the clearing you see what is unmistakably a potato field, in the lowlands surrounding the town where the high, rocky cliffs give way to a somewhat sheltered bay.
  1161. [11:03.48] <+TheKnight> "Behave yourself."
1162. [11:03.49] <DM> Well, Shala's never seen a potato field before, but the rest of you probably have.
1163. [11:04.01] * TheKnight watches nothing in the field.
1164. [11:04.11] * CloakedFigure starts heading towards town.
1165. [11:04.14] * Shala is fascinated by how people eat things from the dirt
  1166. [11:04.38] <+CloakedFigure> "So, you're runnin' from some plane-hoppers eh? Phase spiders?"
1167. [11:04.50] * DM changes topic to: A Handful of Dust: To Oytul +https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1YhyRu5tiq4,
  1168. [11:04.54] * TheKnight lingers near a field.
1169. [11:05.12] <DM> Take another point of damage, Archer.
  1170. [11:05.14] <DM> Untreated wound.
  1171. [11:05.23] <DM> You too, knight.
  1172. [11:05.36] <+TheKnight> [nope]
  1173. [11:05.38] <+Shala> "No, men"
1174. [11:05.47] <DM> [Did you pull it out?]
  1175. [11:05.48] <+TheKnight> [endurance and die hard :p]
1176. [11:05.50] <+Shala> "I took something of theirs. Well, two somethings."
  1177. [11:05.54] <DM> [Ah, point]
  1178. [11:05.59] <DM> [Grats for being a badass]
  1179. [11:06.09] <DM> [Okay, just ork then, you've got 1 HP left]
  1180. [11:06.12] <+CloakedFigure> "Anything interesting?"
1181. [11:06.24] * TheKnight waits for you all to walk a distance, then speaks with himself.
1182. [11:07.33] <DM> The archer's head lolls as he leans on Shala's shoulder.
1183. [11:07.56] <DM> He seems to be fighting off the desire to slip into unconsciousness...
  1184. [11:07.59] * Shala flashes the key
  1185. [11:08.02] <+Shala> "This"
  1186. [11:08.04] <+Shala> "And some knowledge"
  1187. [11:08.17] * TheKnight makes a rather loud groan.
1188. [11:08.37] <+CloakedFigure> "I'll have to get me a look at that later."
1189. [11:08.40] <DM> It appears to be a totally non-descript key, despite being made from some kind of black metal.
1190. [11:08.47] <DM> Like the kind you'd use to open a small chest.
  1191. [11:08.50] <+CloakedFigure> "Skeleton key?"
  1192. [11:08.53] <+CloakedFigure> "Or better?"
1193. [11:09.01] * Shala looks at the archer
  1194. [11:09.07] * Shala shrugs
1195. [11:09.15] <+Shala> "Can you help our friend here? He was injured"
1196. [11:09.29] * TheKnight shambles after them, at a horrid pace.
1197. [11:09.32] <+Shala> "I am afraid to remove the arrow as my training is inadequate"
1198. [11:09.45] <+Shala> "I'm not sure he can make it to the village like he claims"
1199. [11:10.15] <+CloakedFigure> "Ah, 'tain't my area of expertise either my dearie."
1200. [11:10.16] * TheKnight limps, but doesn't bitch about it like some people.
1201. [11:10.50] <+CloakedFigure> "Let's get him in for some food 'n good shelter, and see if we can't find your man friend there a cleric."
1202. [11:11.08] <DM> No clerics here, but there might be some healing
  1203. [11:11.25] * TheKnight catches up, eventually.
1204. [11:11.51] <DM> Between the two of you, you manage to get the archer's bags on the donkey and carry him both yourselves, though he's a bit taller than Shala and much taller than the stranger.
  1205. [11:12.11] <DM> His breath is ragged.
1206. [11:12.14] * BleedingArcher is very very weak
1207. [11:12.28] * TheKnight inspects the arrow wound.
  1208. [11:12.44] <+TheKnight> ?roll 1d20+4
  1209. [11:12.44] <%tBot> TheKnight: 19 ([15] +4)
  1210. [11:12.45] <+BleedingArcher> [I took the worse arrow :p]
1211. [11:12.57] <DM> What roll is that, knight? Heal check?
  1212. [11:13.02] <+TheKnight> yes
1213. [11:13.21] <DM> You push the arrow through the meat of your shoulder and it comes out clean the other side.
  1214. [11:13.26] <DM> Good work, you.
  1215. [11:13.34] <+TheKnight> [no, his]
  1216. [11:13.39] <DM> Oh
  1217. [11:13.50] <DM> Sorry, that was ambiguous.
1218. [11:14.13] <DM> You twist the arrow in his back correctly, and it comes out, a gentle flow of blood following.
  1219. [11:14.20] <DM> A crystal blue arrowhead. Neat.
1220. [11:14.34] * TheKnight plugs it with a wad of moss or something.
  1221. [11:14.50] <DM> The archer's wound is stabilized.
  1222. [11:15.07] <+TheKnight> "See what you've done?"
  1223. [11:15.12] <+Shala> "Thank you, paladin"
1224. [11:15.13] <DM> For all your limping, you have managed to come closer to the village.
  1225. [11:15.17] * TheKnight shakes his head.
1226. [11:15.25] * BleedingArcher jerks a little with the removal of the arrow
  1227. [11:15.47] <+TheKnight> "This never ends well."
1228. [11:15.57] * TheKnight speaks slowly, with rasp.
1229. [11:16.13] <DM> You peak a small hill, the last one before the bay, and below, you see Oytul. It is almost sunny for once. At least you can see the outline of the orb through the clouds
1230. [11:16.25] * Shala looks to the other two companions with eyes that say "this guy is crazy"
1231. [11:16.32] <DM> In all directions, the pine stands stretch to the north and south.
1232. [11:17.05] * TheKnight hesitates at the sight of it.
1233. [11:17.07] * BleedingArcher doesn't have open eyes to meet
1234. [11:17.15] <DM> Beyond, to the south and east, if you squint, you can see the curve of the glacier-topped Kalkhi mountains.
1235. [11:17.32] <DM> The great Kalkhis, which two of you have come to know far too well.
1236. [11:17.45] <DM> Well, maybe three. Maybe four? I don't keep track of your backstories.
  1237. [11:17.49] <DM> Anyhow.
1238. [11:18.11] <DM> Oytul appears a fishing village of a few hundred, surrounded by a ragged palisade about eight feet high. Red pine shacks and mud huts cluster around the massive fallen helmet of a god. Its eyeholes turned into windows, it leans off to the side at an angle. Further out on the lake you see a titanic gauntlet has become an island, with a few ragged redneedles growing atop the knuckles.
1239. [11:18.16] * Shala feels the weight of adventures not yet undertaken
  1240. [11:18.50] * TheKnight snorts.
1241. [11:18.54] <DM> Lake Chal, the Quench of the Titans. What a battle must have once been fought at this landscape.
1242. [11:19.05] <DM> Certainly none left alive can tell.
  1243. [11:19.13] * CloakedFigure taps a skull gently, humming.
  1244. [11:19.38] * TheKnight whistles like a wind through a rusty chime.
1245. [11:19.57] <DM> Chimes are certainly not made with metal anymore, it's too valuable.
1246. [11:20.02] <DM> Easier to use animal bones and wood.
1247. [11:20.10] * TheKnight knows of rusty chimes.
  1248. [11:20.10] <DM> But you have a long memory.
1249. [11:20.27] * Shala has had rumors of surface barbarism, but now seeing it up close...
1250. [11:20.42] * Shala thinks it's actually not that bad!
1251. [11:20.59] * TheKnight hold his sword loose at side, as if on the edge of dropping it, but doesn't.
1252. [11:21.23] * BleedingArcher looks only slightly more alive than the head on his belt
1253. [11:21.35] <DM> You come to the gates, slowly, Barg ambling along behind.
  1254. [11:21.41] <+TheKnight> "You owe me underclothes."
1255. [11:22.08] <DM> The gates are made from young saplings, strapped together with twine.
1256. [11:22.16] <+Shala> "The tribals owe you underclothes"
1257. [11:22.16] <DM> You can see between the gaps.
  1258. [11:22.49] <DM> Anyone who isn't ork make a perception check
1259. [11:22.54] * TheKnight is hesitant to draw near the gate.
  1260. [11:23.05] <+Shala> ?roll 1d20

1266. [11:23.15] * Shala has some dirt in her eye

  1268. [11:23.20] <%tBot> CloakedFigure: 4 [4]
  1269. [11:23.25] <+CloakedFigure> [14 total]
1270. [11:23.37] <DM> The Knight and Shala are absorbed in their own SUPER interesting drama
1271. [11:23.40] * TheKnight is distorted by the gravitational lens around Shala'a behind.
1272. [11:24.18] <DM> But the cloaked figure notices what is actually a person, lying with their back propped up against the palisade alongside the gate
1273. [11:24.30] <DM> Or, at any rate, a humanoid figure
  1274. [11:24.53] <DM> They aren't quite right shaped for a human
  1275. [11:25.07] <+CloakedFigure> "We've got a wounded, let us in."
  1276. [11:25.23] * You are now known as Bandage-wrapped

1282. [11:26.18] * CloakedFigure blinks and reaches into a satchel.
  1283. [11:26.39] <+TheKnight> "Keep your mouth shut."
  1284. [11:26.41] * TheKnight whispers.
1285. [11:26.56] * CloakedFigure shares some chives with the conversationalist.
1286. [11:27.02] * Shala tries to tuck more of herself behind the shield
1287. [11:27.24] <Bandage-wrapped> The figure pulls a long, articulated arm with a four-taloned hand out of its bandages, which trembles slightly as it grabs the bulb.
1288. [11:28.01] <+CloakedFigure> [why isn't Shala using the blanket I threw at her earlier? :p]
  1289. [11:28.23] <+Shala> [oops]
1290. [11:28.23] * Bandage-wrapped pulls out a small knife and quickly chops up the chives into a fine powder on the dirty ground, and then pulls away its face bandages to reveal a scaly nostril
  1291. [11:28.34] * Bandage-wrapped snorts the chives-powder.
  1292. [11:28.44] <Bandage-wrapped> "Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!"
  1293. [11:28.50] <Bandage-wrapped> "Thannnk you."
  1294. [11:28.55] * Shala wonders if this is a typicla gate-opening ritual
  1295. [11:29.01] <Bandage-wrapped> "I do not...I do not have the gold."
  1296. [11:29.04] <Bandage-wrapped> "that was a lie."

  1300. [11:29.23] <Bandage-wrapped> "You will want Mitsaq."
  1301. [11:29.28] <Bandage-wrapped> "He knowssss."
1302. [11:29.42] * CloakedFigure walks with the group towards Mitsaq's residence.
1303. [11:30.02] <Bandage-wrapped> "This Ssethkar, Kathsiss, will witnesss."
  1304. [11:30.06] <Bandage-wrapped> "I will witness!"
1305. [11:30.13] <Bandage-wrapped> He continues to shout at you.
1306. [11:30.18] * You are now known as DM
1307. [11:30.24] <DM> Probably for a while, as you walk past him.
1308. [11:30.32] * Shala looks back at the strange shouting man every once in a while
  1309. [11:30.34] <+TheKnight> "I don't miss this."
  1310. [11:30.39] <DM> "WITNESS!" he cries again.
  1311. [11:30.45] <+Shala> "Does he not have a residence?"
  1312. [11:31.01] <+CloakedFigure> "Not likely love."
  1313. [11:31.23] <+Shala> ":/"
1314. [11:31.41] * TheKnight views the fallen helm.
1315. [11:31.51] <DM> It leans at about a thirty degree angle.
1316. [11:32.02] <DM> And, just as you approach the lintel, which appears to be roughly worked stone
1317. [11:32.05] <+CloakedFigure> "You sound like you've not been out much. Lots o' folks don't live in one place."
  1318. [11:32.21] * TheKnight puts a hand to it.
1319. [11:32.31] <DM> This door, an iron-bound relic of timbers, opens at your touch.
1320. [11:32.45] * You are now known as Mitsaq
  1321. [11:32.48] <+TheKnight> "...what a day..."
  1322. [11:32.51] <Mitsaq> "Hello."
  1323. [11:33.02] <+Shala> "!!!"
1324. [11:33.06] * CloakedFigure gestures to the wounded archer.
  1325. [11:33.09] * Mitsaq smiles.
1326. [11:33.12] * Shala goes to seize his hand in hers
1327. [11:33.17] <Mitsaq> "Yes, you have wounded. Please, let us come in."
1328. [11:33.18] <+CloakedFigure> "We've got a wounded man and a young lady interested in... seeing you."
  1329. [11:33.20] <+Shala> "Mitsaq!"
1330. [11:33.26] * Mitsaq graps it in a big, callused paw.
1331. [11:33.34] <Mitsaq> "Yes, child. You are safe. You have done well."
1332. [11:33.39] * TheKnight knocks his sheath against the helm.
1333. [11:33.43] <Mitsaq> "You have ALL done marvelously!"
1334. [11:33.46] * Shala feels the tears well up in her eyes
1335. [11:34.03] <Mitsaq> "But enough. I must prepare my rituals to heal the boy."
  1336. [11:34.08] <Mitsaq> "We will speak after."
  1337. [11:34.11] <Mitsaq> "Come in, be welcome."
  1338. [11:34.14] <+Shala> "Yes yes of course!"
1339. [11:34.34] * Shala looks for a chair and a port in the storm
  1340. [11:34.43] <Mitsaq> The inside of the helm is...interesting.
1341. [11:34.45] * You are now known as DM
  1342. [11:34.46] <+BleedingArcher> [mitsaq is not human?]
  1343. [11:34.56] <DM> Mitsaq is human.
  1344. [11:34.57] <+TheKnight> [he is a meat sack]
1345. [11:35.05] <DM> Mitzaq is a massive bear of a man, tan with a wide nose and crinkled eyes surrounded by laugh lines. He has a bushy reddish brown beard, and as you look into his eyes, you see they are two colors, one red, one green.
1346. [11:35.13] * CloakedFigure removes Barg's saddlebags and ties the donkey up by the door.
1347. [11:35.23] <DM> But it does not look strange in his eyes.
  1348. [11:35.30] <DM> One grey, one green*
1349. [11:35.40] <DM> There is a hitching post, Cloaked Figure.
  1350. [11:36.06] <+CloakedFigure> [Huzzah]
1351. [11:36.06] * TheKnight sits like a turned over sack of flour.
1352. [11:36.18] <DM> The inside is comfortable, although the floor is on a slant, the helmet seeming to have...settled...over time.
  1353. [11:36.20] <+TheKnight> Heavy and inanimate.
  1354. [11:36.21] <+TheKnight> ;)
1355. [11:36.34] <DM> There are a variety of stone chairs and couches that are covered in several layers of furs.
1356. [11:36.49] <DM> Tapestries hang on the wall, and ancient parchments showing maps of lands that no longer exist.
1357. [11:36.56] <DM> Or, at least, are buried under layers of ice.
1358. [11:37.04] <DM> These are moth eaten to a one.
1359. [11:37.19] <DM> A fire burns in every room, driving away the everpresent chill of the land.
1360. [11:37.28] <+TheKnight> "Yes," he says, agreeing with something. "It is quiet now."
1361. [11:37.41] <DM> For the first time in...
  1362. [11:37.43] <DM> A long while.
  1363. [11:37.46] <DM> You all feel safe.
1364. [11:37.57] * Shala sits, back in perfect posture, scorpion in her hand
1365. [11:38.01] <DM> Mitsaq is heard clattering about in another room.
1366. [11:38.02] * Shala watches the healer heal
  1367. [11:38.10] <+Shala> [ooor not ]
1368. [11:38.26] <DM> He comes back, his hands filled with a mortar and pestle and a turtle skull, along with several other things you can't identify.
1369. [11:38.39] <DM> "Let us lay the boy out here in my circle."
1370. [11:38.45] * TheKnight sets the sword in his lap, its sheath of lacquered wood dark but shimmering in the light.
1371. [11:39.11] * You are now known as Mitsaq
1372. [11:39.23] * Mitsaq places several ingredients in the bowl and starts to grind.
  1373. [11:39.28] * TheKnight is quiet.
1374. [11:39.43] <Mitsaq> "You will have met Kathsiss."
  1375. [11:39.48] * CloakedFigure nods.
1376. [11:40.07] <Mitsaq> "Ssethkar are rare this far from the hot sea."
1377. [11:40.26] <Mitsaq> "But he disgraced his clutch in war, so became an exile."
  1378. [11:40.57] <Mitsaq> "I think you saw how."
  1379. [11:41.14] <+Shala> "A sad existence"
1380. [11:41.20] * Mitsaq throws the turtle skull a few times, then breaks off a chip and grinds it.
1381. [11:41.22] <+Shala> "To have nowhere to call home"
1382. [11:41.53] * TheKnight breathes, as most things do.
1383. [11:42.07] * Mitsaq changes topic to: A Handful of Dust: Mitsaq +https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5nMasj53Kg,
1384. [11:42.29] * Mitsaq picks up a stick of wood.
1385. [11:42.40] <Mitsaq> "This once grew in a forest that is now turned only to stone."
1386. [11:43.01] <Mitsaq> "It is the memories of the past...that allow us to return things to how they once were."
  1387. [11:43.16] * Shala furrows her brow
  1388. [11:43.26] <+Shala> "How things once were?"
1389. [11:43.32] * Mitsaq blows the powder from the pestle into the air over the Archer's body.
1390. [11:43.43] <+CloakedFigure> "The world love. It wasn't always this way."
1391. [11:43.49] * Mitsaq ignites the stick and waves it in the air over the body.
  1392. [11:44.01] * Shala blushes
1393. [11:44.06] <+Shala> "I hardly know what it is now"
1394. [11:44.06] <Mitsaq> The floating powder, which hung in the air as if gravity was suspended
  1395. [11:44.07] <+CloakedFigure> "You've spent your whole life in a tower?"
  1396. [11:44.13] * Shala nods
1397. [11:44.19] <Mitsaq> immediately attracts your attention by bursting into golden sparks.
  1398. [11:44.23] <+CloakedFigure> "My condolences."
1399. [11:44.35] <Mitsaq> And the sparks settle on the archer's body like nesting butterflies.
  1400. [11:44.39] * Mitsaq smiles.
  1401. [11:44.42] <Mitsaq> "It is done."
1402. [11:44.48] <Mitsaq> "He will wake, and be one."
1403. [11:44.55] * You are now known as DM
1404. [11:45.01] <DM> the sparkles dissipate and fade.
1405. [11:45.27] <DM> Outside of the circle, where some of the powder fell
1406. [11:45.39] <DM> There is an imprint of another shape
1407. [11:45.44] * You are now known as Mitsaq
1408. [11:45.55] <Mitsaq> "Ask this one about memories."
  1409. [11:45.58] <Mitsaq> "For he has many."
1410. [11:46.06] * Mitsaq looks at the Knight directly with his dichromatic eyes.
  1411. [11:46.11] <+TheKnight> "Memories of my underwear."
  1412. [11:46.17] * TheKnight sighs.
1413. [11:46.18] <+Shala> "He doesn't seem like the talking type"
  1414. [11:46.23] <+Shala> "He's obsessed with his laundry"
1415. [11:46.24] * Mitsaq bursts out into laughter.
  1416. [11:46.28] <Mitsaq> "Ahhhahahahaha."
1417. [11:46.39] <Mitsaq> "I have clothing and food for you."
1418. [11:46.43] <Mitsaq> "This meeting has been known."
  1419. [11:46.49] <Mitsaq> "For a long...time."
  1420. [11:47.01] <+Shala> "I have so many questions Mitsaq"
  1421. [11:47.05] <+CloakedFigure> "I've got an inklin' it's not his knickers he's frettin' about."
  1422. [11:47.24] <Mitsaq> "I will speak to you all."
1423. [11:47.34] <Mitsaq> "But first, your friend must wake, and you must all drink TEA!"
1424. [11:47.47] <Mitsaq> "It is warm, and it soothes the stomach and brings courage to the heart."
  1425. [11:47.51] <Mitsaq> "I support it."
  1426. [11:48.04] * TheKnight gestures it off.
  1427. [11:48.17] * CloakedFigure accepts
  1428. [11:48.20] * Mitsaq takes Shala's hand.
1429. [11:48.24] <Mitsaq> "And some of you are still in shock."
1430. [11:48.41] * Mitsaq holds it up and allows you to see it trembling.
  1431. [11:49.00] <Mitsaq> "So. Tea."
1432. [11:49.07] * Mitsaq goes into the other room to prepare it.
  1433. [11:50.20] * BleedingArcher stirs
  1434. [11:50.48] * TheKnight does not drink.
  1435. [11:51.37] <+CloakedFigure> "That key, could I have a look at it?"
1436. [11:51.43] * Mitsaq returns with the cups and distributes them to the archer, to Shala, and to the cloaked figure.
  1437. [11:51.53] <Mitsaq> "Here, and here...and here."
1438. [11:51.59] * Shala sips as quickly as the heat will allow
  1439. [11:51.59] <+CloakedFigure> "Thanks."
1440. [11:52.06] <Mitsaq> "There is the healing of the body, but the healing of the mind comes only with time."
  1441. [11:52.10] <Mitsaq> "Time and love."
  1442. [11:52.20] * Mitsaq smiles quietly.
  1443. [11:52.23] <Mitsaq> "So many forget that.."
1444. [11:52.25] * BleedingArcher looks up from the floor
  1445. [11:52.27] <+TheKnight> "Don't lie for her."
  1446. [11:52.30] * TheKnight says softly.
  1447. [11:52.41] <+BleedingArcher> "....Where?"
1448. [11:53.02] * Mitsaq extends his hand to the archer.
  1449. [11:53.13] * BleedingArcher takes it
1450. [11:53.27] <Mitsaq> "You are in my home. I am Mitsaq."
1451. [11:53.32] * Mitsaq pulls you up and helps you find a seat.
  1452. [11:53.54] <Mitsaq> "You all have questions."
  1453. [11:54.02] * BleedingArcher looks a little bit dazed
1454. [11:54.05] <Mitsaq> "But we must know ourselves before we can know the without."
1455. [11:54.35] <Mitsaq> "I am Mitsaq. I am the shaman and the chieftain of the Oytu, as my grandfather before me."
1456. [11:55.04] <Mitsaq> "And I am a servant of the goddess Arta, the vanished spirit of this world."
1457. [11:55.17] <Mitsaq> "Of an order that is almost gone."
1458. [11:55.22] * Mitsaq looks at the Knight.
  1459. [11:55.25] <Mitsaq> "Almost."
  1460. [11:55.29] <Mitsaq> "Now, who are YOU?"
1461. [11:55.47] * Mitsaq 's booming voice echoes throughout the warm stone chamber, flickering with comfortable firelight.
1462. [11:55.52] * Mitsaq points at the archer.
  1463. [11:55.54] <Mitsaq> "You first."
1464. [11:56.11] * BleedingArcher points to himself and looks around a little
1465. [11:56.25] * BleedingArcher clears his throat and begins
  1466. [11:56.50] <+BleedingArcher> "Me they call Kir."
  1467. [11:57.00] <+BleedingArcher> "I.... scout"
  1468. [11:57.08] <+BleedingArcher> "Of far away."
  1469. [11:57.21] <+CloakedFigure> "What land?"
  1470. [11:57.55] <+BleedingArcher> "Gora Mir"
  1471. [11:58.12] <+BleedingArcher> "Far"
1472. [11:58.24] * CloakedFigure asks if Kir speaks Gora Miri, in Gora Miri.
  1473. [11:58.58] * BleedingArcher is shocked
1474. [11:59.08] * BleedingArcher is now known as NoLongerBleedingArcher
1475. [11:59.12] * NoLongerBleedingArcher is now known as Kir
1476. [11:59.37] * Mitsaq smiles at the exchange, and goes to poke the fire a bit.
1477. [11:59.54] <+Kir> "Why you know this language?"
1478. [12:00.21] <+Kir> "Gora Mir... small corner of world. Very far."
  1479. [12:00.43] <+TheKnight> "Everywhere is far."
1480. [12:00.51] <+CloakedFigure> "I've traveled quite a bit. There's a lot of old things that are only attested in that language."
1481. [12:01.03] <Mitsaq> "A young scout from a land lost to time, surrounded by the Earth."
1482. [12:01.13] * Mitsaq turns his gaze to the hooded figure.
1483. [12:01.24] <Mitsaq> "You need not cover your face here. We are all friends."
  1484. [12:01.31] <Mitsaq> "Tell us your story."
  1485. [12:01.36] <+CloakedFigure> "It's comfortable."
  1486. [12:01.49] * Mitsaq smiles
1487. [12:01.56] * CloakedFigure pulls back the cloak.
1488. [12:02.00] * CloakedFigure is now known as Melchior
1489. [12:02.25] * TheKnight watches this uncomfortable of the implication.
1490. [12:02.44] * Melchior has short brownish hair, a smooth face and soft brown eyes.
  1491. [12:03.11] <+Melchior> "I'm Boone. Melchior Boone. I'm... well, a lot of things."
1492. [12:03.12] * Kir looks at the new face
  1493. [12:03.14] * Melchior looks pensieve
  1494. [12:03.43] <Mitsaq> "A woman, bearing the name of a magi."
1495. [12:03.43] <+Melchior> "I'm just trying to figure out how the world works."
1496. [12:03.46] * Shala perks up an eyebrow
1497. [12:03.59] <+Melchior> "Well I'd blame dad for that one."
  1498. [12:04.20] <Mitsaq> "Perhaps not a mis-match, but a new match."
  1499. [12:04.29] <Mitsaq> "And what more?"
  1500. [12:04.41] <Mitsaq> "Where is your family?"
1501. [12:05.02] * Melchior pauses for some time.
1502. [12:05.23] <+Melchior> "Far out of my knowledge. Somewhere, some time, some place."
  1503. [12:05.27] <+Melchior> "I don't know."
1504. [12:05.35] * Mitsaq sits next to Melchior and puts a hand on her shoulder.
  1505. [12:05.55] <Mitsaq> "You will find them."
1506. [12:06.02] * Mitsaq draws closer to her face.
  1507. [12:06.10] * Mitsaq whispers, "I have seen it."
1508. [12:07.01] <Mitsaq> "A woman who flows from place to place, endlessly malleable, accepting the branched forks of existence, like Water."
  1509. [12:07.16] <+Melchior> "I haven't yet seen it. But I'm still searching."
  1510. [12:07.25] <+Melchior> "Now how about shield-maiden here?"
1511. [12:07.29] <Mitsaq> "Shala, we have known of each other for some time."
  1512. [12:07.39] <+Shala> "Yes we have, in a way"
  1513. [12:07.41] * Shala smiles
  1514. [12:07.48] <+Shala> "I took a big risk coming here"
1515. [12:07.56] <+Shala> "But it would have been much more foolish to stay"
  1516. [12:08.02] * Shala inhales
  1517. [12:08.16] <+Shala> "I am Shala Tell Ashara"
  1518. [12:08.36] <+Shala> "I am a magic wielder from the Conjurer's Tower"
  1519. [12:08.55] <+Shala> "What else is important?"
1520. [12:09.06] * Shala taps a finger on her chin
1521. [12:09.11] <Mitsaq> "You made Azri Bel Azimel scream like a stuck pig today."
  1522. [12:09.20] <Mitsaq> "Killing a familiar will do that."
  1523. [12:09.36] <Mitsaq> "Oh, I felt that."
  1524. [12:09.39] <Mitsaq> "We all did."
  1525. [12:10.13] <+Shala> "Good"
  1526. [12:10.16] <+Shala> "He wasnt a good man"
  1527. [12:10.20] * TheKnight chuckles.
  1528. [12:10.40] * Kir doesn't understand the reference
1529. [12:10.45] <Mitsaq> "Once, they say those who made demon-pacts hid in the shadows."
1530. [12:11.00] <Mitsaq> "Now they stand in the light."
  1531. [12:11.08] <Mitsaq> "And they rule."
1532. [12:11.26] <Mitsaq> "But one comes from such a place to atone for her kin, and her ancestors, and what they have done."
1533. [12:11.47] <Mitsaq> "For you know, now, what they have done to our world."
  1534. [12:12.10] <+TheKnight> "So you say, Artasian."
  1535. [12:12.24] * Mitsaq smiles
  1536. [12:12.29] * Shala blinks
1537. [12:13.08] <Mitsaq> "I saw that when I asked you of yourself, you responded with a curt, and dismissive comment."
1538. [12:13.17] <Mitsaq> "But if I pointed out that you would do this, you would not do this."
1539. [12:13.29] <+TheKnight> "They would not believe it."
1540. [12:13.41] <+TheKnight> "They weep over cuts, and still they fear small things."
1541. [12:13.53] <Mitsaq> "They are children. The greatness of the past does not matter to them as much as it does to you."
1542. [12:14.09] <Mitsaq> "Perhaps they do not even know the tale."
  1543. [12:14.15] <+TheKnight> "Perhaps."
1544. [12:14.19] <Mitsaq> "That much has been forgotten."
  1545. [12:14.27] <+TheKnight> "Names are quickest."
1546. [12:14.33] * Shala feels like she's being lectured in a sidelong way
1547. [12:14.55] <+TheKnight> "There may be some who still remember the false star. I doubt that."
  1548. [12:15.28] * TheKnight looks at Shala.
  1549. [12:16.00] <+TheKnight> "What do you wish?"
1550. [12:16.23] <+TheKnight> "Names come in dozens. Give me one, if you want to."
  1551. [12:17.06] <+Shala> "I uh..."
  1552. [12:17.19] <+Shala> "I'm not good with..."
  1553. [12:17.29] <+TheKnight> "I can give you a few, if you wish."
1554. [12:17.34] <+TheKnight> "They mean nothing to any of you."
  1555. [12:18.36] <+Shala> "Rusty?"
  1556. [12:18.51] <+Shala> "Maybe...Charmer"
1557. [12:18.55] <+TheKnight> "As good as any of mine."
  1558. [12:19.12] <Mitsaq> "Call him Repriever."
1559. [12:19.20] <Mitsaq> "For that, the legends remember him most."
1560. [12:19.37] <+TheKnight> "And deny so much for it."
  1561. [12:19.48] <+TheKnight> "Rusty, I like that."
1562. [12:20.05] <+TheKnight> "Though some things never seem to rust."
1563. [12:20.38] <Mitsaq> "One who traverses the Void of death...and life. Escorting a child who vanishes through the Air."
1564. [12:20.58] <Mitsaq> "Earth, Water, Air, and Void are all here."
1565. [12:21.03] <Mitsaq> "Fire has yet to come. That is fitting."
1566. [12:21.24] * Melchior is fiddling with a ceremonial weapon.
1567. [12:21.29] <Mitsaq> "Fire was the end of this world."
  1568. [12:21.37] <+TheKnight> "More than fire."
  1569. [12:21.46] <Mitsaq> "But, I am told, a lot of fire."
  1570. [12:21.54] * TheKnight mumbles to himself.
  1571. [12:22.10] * Shala sips tea
1572. [12:22.18] <+Melchior> I roll knowledge history for the repriever.
1573. [12:22.18] <Mitsaq> "In the ancient of days, the balance was broken."
  1574. [12:22.40] <+Melchior> ?roll 1d20+1d6+10
  1575. [12:22.40] <%tBot> Melchior: 31 ([19] [2] +10)
1576. [12:22.47] <Mitsaq> "It was broken by the mages, who sought greater and greater power."
  1577. [12:22.49] * TheKnight winks at Melchior.
1578. [12:22.55] * TheKnight is now known as Repriever
  1579. [12:23.32] <Mitsaq> "Among other things."
1580. [12:24.06] <Mitsaq> "As the world split apart, Five were chosen to incarnate Arta herself, the goddess who is the world."
  1581. [12:24.20] <Mitsaq> "What was not known..."
1582. [12:24.30] <Mitsaq> "The ritual was not perfect."
  1583. [12:24.38] <+Repriever> "Lies, don't sugar it."
  1584. [12:24.56] <Mitsaq> "We lacked the Key!"
1585. [12:25.02] <Mitsaq> "We did not even know there was a Key."
  1586. [12:25.05] * Repriever dismisses this.
1587. [12:25.26] <+Repriever> "No wonder you didn't, with all these long lectures on quests and heroes."
1588. [12:25.40] <Mitsaq> "Arta was summoned, and the destruction of the world was prevented, but the goddess was sacrificed."
1589. [12:25.43] <+Repriever> "One can only hear it so often before insanity strikes."
1590. [12:25.55] <Mitsaq> "That is why the world dwindles."
  1591. [12:25.59] * Repriever mutters to a shadow.
1592. [12:26.06] <Mitsaq> "Because the world has no spirit."
1593. [12:26.22] <Mitsaq> "And the balance was not restored, but merely stopped from getting worse."
  1594. [12:26.38] <Mitsaq> "This revelation...broke many spirits."
1595. [12:26.45] * Mitsaq looks at the Knight.
1596. [12:26.53] <Mitsaq> "New gods rose to take the place of the old."
1597. [12:27.07] <Mitsaq> "And above all of that, an apathy."
1598. [12:27.33] <Mitsaq> "Those who seek to hasten the end for their own purposes."
1599. [12:27.44] * Repriever is busied with something else.
  1600. [12:27.49] <Mitsaq> "At any rate."
1601. [12:27.52] <Mitsaq> "Look at me, droning on."
  1602. [12:28.12] <Mitsaq> "I do not like speeches."
  1603. [12:28.21] <Mitsaq> "He's right, if I did I would be a wizard."
  1604. [12:28.25] * Mitsaq chuckles.
  1605. [12:28.28] <+Melchior> "Could have fooled me."
1606. [12:28.34] * Melchior has a small laugh as well.
  1607. [12:28.41] <Mitsaq> "Well, my friends."
1608. [12:28.49] <Mitsaq> "I have forseen this night my entire life."
1609. [12:28.59] <Mitsaq> "And you may forgive me for it..."
  1610. [12:29.03] * Mitsaq takes a deep breath
1611. [12:29.14] <Mitsaq> "For I have also forseen that it is my last."
  1612. [12:29.32] * Melchior goes quiet.
  1613. [12:29.37] <+Shala> "What?"
1614. [12:29.41] * Mitsaq gets down and kneels before Shala, and takes her hands in his.
  1615. [12:29.43] <+Melchior> "What's happening now?"
  1616. [12:29.46] <Mitsaq> "I am so sorry, my child."
1617. [12:29.50] * Shala puts down her tea
  1618. [12:29.53] <+Shala> "No...."
1619. [12:30.00] <Mitsaq> "The Conjurers will not forgive this."
1620. [12:30.13] <+Shala> "What do you mean? What are you talking about?"
1621. [12:30.19] <Mitsaq> "Perhaps you noticed that Kathsiss was the only person in the entire village when you arrived."
  1622. [12:30.23] <Mitsaq> "Or perhaps not."
  1623. [12:30.32] <Mitsaq> "I have sent them away."
1624. [12:30.47] <Mitsaq> "Shala, why do you think they cannot come here?"
  1625. [12:30.53] <Mitsaq> "My power?"
1626. [12:30.56] * Shala feels the tears returning
  1627. [12:30.58] * Mitsaq laughs.
1628. [12:31.07] <Mitsaq> "I am no great mage. A mystic of some skill, but no great mage."
  1629. [12:31.25] <+Shala> "But...I cant do this without you..."
  1630. [12:31.37] <+Repriever> "You'll figure it out."
  1631. [12:31.42] <Mitsaq> "Indeed, you have Rusty."
1632. [12:31.51] * Mitsaq looks at the Knight.
  1633. [12:31.58] * Kir is a little bit confused
1634. [12:32.03] <Mitsaq> "I am sorry to disturb you, but you must help her. You must help all of them."
  1635. [12:32.12] <Mitsaq> "We have a chance, this time."
  1636. [12:32.30] <Mitsaq> "Please."
  1637. [12:32.43] <+Repriever> "What a crock."
1638. [12:32.48] <+Melchior> "Mitsaq... what's your role in all of this?"
  1639. [12:32.51] * Mitsaq smiles.
1640. [12:33.05] <+Repriever> "Another wave of kids to the slaughter."
  1641. [12:33.21] <Mitsaq> "Melchior."
  1642. [12:33.38] <Mitsaq> "Look into space."
1643. [12:33.50] <Mitsaq> "At every point we are rushing towards infinity, and the only thing that hides this is the fragile illusion of the human mind."
1644. [12:34.10] <Mitsaq> "In time, you will come to see what my role is, was, will be."
  1645. [12:34.22] * Melchior squints knowingly.
  1646. [12:34.26] <+Melchior> "Perhaps I shall."
  1647. [12:34.26] * Shala sniffles
  1648. [12:34.52] <+Repriever> "I'll need the shield, Shala."
1649. [12:35.04] <+Melchior> "I'd advise leaving here, if you find it risky."
1650. [12:35.13] * Shala unbuckles it and hands it to the knight
  1651. [12:35.15] * Repriever stands.
1652. [12:35.18] <Mitsaq> "Tomorrow, Azri Bel Azimel and his council will come, with all their armies and all their summons. And they will break my wards, and they will defeat me, and I will die."
1653. [12:35.22] <+Melchior> "There is safety from scrying eyes, in the wide open places."
1654. [12:35.27] <Mitsaq> "But they will not get you."
1655. [12:35.51] <+Repriever> "Some luck never runs out."
  1656. [12:36.01] <Mitsaq> "Kathsiss has a rowboat."
1657. [12:36.09] <Mitsaq> "And you will have many other things besides."
1658. [12:36.22] <Mitsaq> "You must go to the Tower of Divination."
1659. [12:36.30] <Mitsaq> "They will show you the way."
1660. [12:36.37] <+Shala> "You were everything to me up there, Mitsaq. I'll never forget you"
  1661. [12:36.44] <+Shala> "I'll go, I'll go right away again"
1662. [12:36.56] <Mitsaq> "That is not an easy voyage in these days."
  1663. [12:37.04] <Mitsaq> "But I will help you as I can."
  1664. [12:37.10] <Mitsaq> "I will draw you a map!"
  1665. [12:37.11] <+Repriever> "Easier than phantom towers."
  1666. [12:37.16] <+Kir> "Tower of Divination?"
1667. [12:37.34] <+Repriever> "They all watched the world turn."
  1668. [12:37.51] <+Melchior> far to the south
1669. [12:38.10] <Mitsaq> "Far to the south and across the sea."
  1670. [12:38.17] <+Melchior> "Near the Calcissi."
1671. [12:38.32] <Mitsaq> "Yes. In time you will meet them too."
  1672. [12:38.35] <+Kir> "Sea?"
  1673. [12:38.40] <Mitsaq> "Your story is a wonderous one."
  1674. [12:38.54] <Mitsaq> "That is why I can die."
  1675. [12:39.01] <+Repriever> "Calcissi?"
  1676. [12:39.07] <Mitsaq> "I know how it ends."
  1677. [12:39.12] * Mitsaq smiles...
  1678. [12:39.14] <Mitsaq> "More tea?"
  1679. [12:39.20] * Melchior taps the skull.
  1680. [12:39.25] <+Shala> "No thanks"
  1681. [12:39.27] <+Melchior> "Was it you?"
  1682. [12:39.33] <+Kir> "Yes, please."
  1683. [12:39.40] <Mitsaq> "That *would* be telling."
1684. [12:39.48] <Mitsaq> "Ah, yes, let me go brew a cup."
1685. [12:40.01] * Mitsaq stands up and retreats, his furs flickering in the firelight.
1686. [12:40.03] <+Melchior> "Well, if anything, you've out-me'd me this evening. So another cup of tea please."
1687. [12:40.10] * You are now known as DM
1688. [12:40.19] <DM> You have been talking so long that the sun, wherever it is, has fallen.
1689. [12:40.37] <DM> Mitsaq seems like a man you have known all your lives.
1690. [12:40.38] <+Repriever> "The girl is out of time."
  1691. [12:40.41] * Repriever says to himself.
1692. [12:40.57] <DM> And yet, you have only known him a few hours.
1693. [12:40.58] * Kir looks around for a big rock
1694. [12:41.06] * Kir still has a skull to smash
1695. [12:42.21] * DM comes back, carrying tea, as well as boiled potatoes in some kind of spicy sauce, along with some skewers of grilled fish.
1696. [12:42.27] * You are now known as Mitsaq
1697. [12:42.33] <Mitsaq> "Some of you have not eaten in a long time."
  1698. [12:42.41] <Mitsaq> "Including me!"
  1699. [12:42.43] <Mitsaq> "Shall we?"
1700. [12:43.00] * Mitsaq spreads out a blanket, and the food, on the floor.
  1701. [12:43.14] <+Repriever> "I'll abstain."
  1702. [12:43.29] <Mitsaq> "Perhaps you've forgotten the taste?"
1703. [12:43.35] * Melchior sits down around the food, and pulls out a mess kit.
  1704. [12:43.50] <+Shala> "Yes, please"
  1705. [12:43.55] <+Repriever> "I have my own."
1706. [12:44.06] * Mitsaq ladles out the spicy potatoes and the fish into bowls.
1707. [12:44.33] * Mitsaq passes a bowl to Melchior, Shala, and Kir.
1708. [12:44.45] * Kir is eager to receive it
1709. [12:44.54] * Melchior takes some food and passes it around.
1710. [12:45.20] <Mitsaq> "If you excuse me...I will bring some food to Kathsiss. He prefers to sleep by the gate."
1711. [12:45.31] <Mitsaq> "Please, talk amongst yourselves. Bond!"
  1712. [12:45.41] * Melchior looks to Shala.
1713. [12:45.46] <+Melchior> "So how do you know him?"
1714. [12:45.47] * Mitsaq trundles out the door.
1715. [12:46.30] <+Shala> "He could get word into the tower. When I learned the truth, he was my...conduit...to do something with it."
1716. [12:47.18] * Repriever watches Mitsaq out the door.
  1717. [12:47.20] <+Shala> "But really, I didn't know anything...it couldve all been a trap."
  1718. [12:47.27] <+Shala> "I took so many risks..."
1719. [12:48.06] <+Melchior> "So you've come out here on faith, hoping to roll back the great ruinations past?"
  1720. [12:48.38] <+Repriever> "That way was lost."
  1721. [12:49.02] * Shala nods
1722. [12:49.07] <+Shala> "Yes, to both of you"
1723. [12:49.50] * Melchior raises eyebrows and drinks some more tea.
1724. [12:50.17] <+Melchior> "I just ply in enchanted objects and dig up old amulets."
1725. [12:50.52] <+Repriever> "Perhaps you'll dig me up one day."
  1726. [12:50.58] <+Repriever> "We can only hope."
  1727. [12:51.08] <+Melchior> "Already done, hahah."
1728. [12:51.14] * Melchior has some more potatoes.
1729. [12:51.23] * You are now known as DM
1730. [12:51.33] <DM> You hear the door close with a gentle thump as Mitsaq returns.
1731. [12:51.37] * You are now known as Mitsaq
1732. [12:51.50] <Mitsaq> "I think you will all enjoy what I did with the crest of the helmet."
1733. [12:52.06] <Mitsaq> "They say that in the south, folk sleep on beds...but I just filled the rooms with blankets."
  1734. [12:52.09] <Mitsaq> "Hundreds!"
  1735. [12:52.14] <Mitsaq> "Well, dozens."
1736. [12:52.24] <Mitsaq> "It is a good place to sleep."
  1737. [12:52.52] * Mitsaq smiles.
1738. [12:53.21] * Melchior goes outside to feed the donkey and check what Mitsaq did.
1739. [12:53.39] <+Repriever> [the donkey is scarred for life]
  1740. [12:54.00] * Kir goes to sleep
  1741. [12:54.06] <+Kir> it's been a long day
1742. [12:54.34] <Mitsaq> "Please, sleep well, young archer."
1743. [12:54.39] <Mitsaq> "You have a bright future ahead of you."
1744. [12:54.45] <+Shala> "Thank you, Mitsaq. For everything. I'll try to sleep."
1745. [12:54.46] * Repriever can wait, for quite some time
  1746. [12:55.01] <Mitsaq> "Remember my words, Shala."
  1747. [12:55.08] <Mitsaq> "Every point is infinite."
1748. [12:55.18] <Mitsaq> "Our time is not short, nor is it long. It simply is."
  1749. [12:55.21] * Mitsaq embraces her.

  1752. [12:55.37] <+Melchior> (perception)
  1753. [12:57.10] <Mitsaq> "Now, you must rest."
1754. [12:57.22] * You are now known as DM
1755. [12:57.31] <DM> We will end the session shortly after the day begins, in game tomorrow.
1756. [12:57.45] * You are now known as Mitsaq
1757. [12:58.10] * Melchior returns inside, pulls out a bedroll, and flops down onto it.
1758. [12:58.54] * Repriever stays awake for a while, but eventually sleeps, somewhere.
  1759. [12:59.09] <Mitsaq> Shala, anything else?
  1760. [12:59.20] <+Shala> [nope]
  1761. [01:03.10] <Mitsaq> the morning arrives!
1762. [01:03.13] * You are now known as DM
  1763. [01:03.23] <DM> Mitsaq awakens you.
1764. [01:04.00] <DM> He has prepared packs containing essential supplies that many of you will have neglected. Thanks to his prescience, you will find that many of the things you had forgotten but subsequently will need will be found there.
  1765. [01:04.04] <DM> How convenient.
1766. [01:04.25] <DM> He has, technically, had his entire life to prepare these packs, so I suppose that makes sense.
1767. [01:05.00] * You are now known as Mitsaq
1768. [01:05.16] * Mitsaq has also prepared breakfast, fried eggs and gecko steaks.
  1769. [01:05.24] <Mitsaq> "EAT!"

1773. [01:05.39] * Shala gobbles everything in sight
  1774. [01:05.43] * Repriever will eat later.
1775. [01:05.51] <Mitsaq> It seems, that the eggs have been...
  1776. [01:05.53] <+Repriever> [has eating disorder]
  1777. [01:05.54] <Mitsaq> Reprieved.
  1778. [01:06.04] <Mitsaq> [YEEEAAAHHHHHHHH]
  1779. [01:06.17] <Mitsaq> Okay.
1780. [01:06.47] * Mitsaq gestures you all into the antechamber in the back of the helm, a room you had not been in before.
1781. [01:07.02] * You are now known as DM
  1782. [01:07.17] * Melchior follows.
1783. [01:07.29] <DM> It is a large, circular room, with windows around the edge, and on the floor is a stone mosaic, containing five circles in a greater circle.
  1784. [01:07.43] <+Repriever> "Not this shit again."
  1785. [01:07.50] <DM> "Just one thing, Repriever."
1786. [01:07.57] * You are now known as Mitsaq
1787. [01:08.12] <Mitsaq> "I have relics of the Five here. You must give Akvan his, with my apologies."
  1788. [01:08.21] <Mitsaq> Kir, you are first.
1789. [01:08.44] * Mitsaq removes a piece of metal from a small box.
1790. [01:08.45] * Repriever groans as he must strip.
1791. [01:09.15] * Shala fumbles for the relic she knows she must give
1792. [01:09.23] * Repriever soon stands before you a naked old man, laying mail, helm, boots, shield, and finally, sword, in the proper circle.
1793. [01:09.39] <Mitsaq> "Kir, this is the living metal that once belonged to the alchemist Kallos Bellan."
1794. [01:09.47] * Repriever used to have underwear.
1795. [01:09.59] <Mitsaq> "Nobody knows how to make it actually live, but when the time comes, you will find it suits your purpose."
  1796. [01:10.11] <+Kir> "Bellan?"
  1797. [01:10.15] <+Kir> "Who?"
  1798. [01:10.19] * Mitsaq pats his shoulder.
1799. [01:10.43] * Mitsaq puts the small ingot into his hand
1800. [01:10.49] <+Repriever> "My bare ass might strike the boy down, can we hurry this?"
  1801. [01:11.01] <Mitsaq> "Very well, Repriever."
1802. [01:11.50] <Mitsaq> "It is perhaps fitting that you receive the armor and sword of the First Warden..."
  1803. [01:11.56] <Mitsaq> "Which you already wear."
  1804. [01:12.03] <Mitsaq> "Sorry, I know you've done this before."
1805. [01:12.19] <+Repriever> "There are some who would pay greatly to see the false star like this."
  1806. [01:12.30] <Mitsaq> "Money! What a thing."
1807. [01:12.58] * Mitsaq removes a flute from another box, and hands it to Mel.
  1808. [01:13.04] <Mitsaq> "This is for Akvan."
1809. [01:13.36] * Repriever redresses, though grumbles at stupid history lessons.
1810. [01:14.16] <Mitsaq> "Tell him, that at the end of the final battle, Sael Maerdin used it to put the waking god Kharvalath to sleep."
1811. [01:14.29] <Mitsaq> "Or, don't. He will find its purpose in time."
  1812. [01:14.45] <Mitsaq> "And, for you..."
  1813. [01:15.20] <+Repriever> "Girl out of time."
1814. [01:15.28] * Mitsaq pulls out a small moebius strip made out of a golden-silverish metal.
  1815. [01:15.51] <Mitsaq> "The Recursive."
  1816. [01:16.03] <+Melchior> "Yes?"
  1817. [01:16.07] <Mitsaq> "Yes."
  1818. [01:16.14] <Mitsaq> "It is yours now."
  1819. [01:16.22] * Mitsaq smiles.
1820. [01:16.28] * Melchior inspects it with a seasoned eye.
1821. [01:16.43] <Mitsaq> "Oh, don't put your finger through it unless you're SERIOUS."
  1822. [01:16.46] <Mitsaq> "Please."
  1823. [01:16.52] <+Melchior> (object reading)
  1824. [01:17.06] <+Repriever> "A dangerous thing to tell a tinkerer."
1825. [01:17.16] * Repriever shimmies in his mail.
1826. [01:17.19] <Mitsaq> "Shala, you already have your relic."
1827. [01:17.31] <Mitsaq> "It is the most important of them all."
1828. [01:17.32] * Melchior smirks and places it in a secure pocket.
  1829. [01:17.40] <+Shala> "Yes! This...this key!"
  1830. [01:17.44] <Mitsaq> "The Key."
  1831. [01:18.03] * Shala places it
  1832. [01:18.15] <+Shala> "I hope it works. It just looks so...ordinary"
1833. [01:18.26] <Mitsaq> "You will learn how to use it."
1834. [01:18.31] <Mitsaq> "Do not be afraid to experiment!"
  1835. [01:18.34] <+Repriever> "That's what I said at the Gate."
  1836. [01:18.37] * Repriever coughs.
1837. [01:18.38] <Mitsaq> "Just know that if you get it wrong, the world dies."
  1838. [01:18.41] * Mitsaq laughs.
1839. [01:19.09] <Mitsaq> "Everything is different now, that we have the Key."
1840. [01:19.23] <Mitsaq> "The new world will not be the same as the old. We know that. We were fools to think otherwise."
  1841. [01:19.26] <Mitsaq> "But..."
1842. [01:19.32] <Mitsaq> "Perhaps you can make it something worth seeing."
1843. [01:19.32] <+Repriever> "Everything was different then. Everything will be different when."
  1844. [01:19.50] <Mitsaq> "Repriever..."
  1845. [01:19.52] * Repriever caresses the air.
1846. [01:19.58] <Mitsaq> "Perhaps if you get it right, you will get what you desire."
  1847. [01:20.08] <Mitsaq> "Perhaps."
  1848. [01:20.14] <Mitsaq> But look at me.
  1849. [01:20.23] <Mitsaq> " "*
  1850. [01:20.27] * Repriever does.
1851. [01:20.35] <Mitsaq> "You all have to be going, and all I want to do is talk."
  1852. [01:20.41] <Mitsaq> "Curse of a limited lifespan."
  1853. [01:20.52] <+Repriever> "And unlimited."
  1854. [01:20.55] <Mitsaq> "Who can read?"
  1855. [01:21.03] <+Kir> "I!"
  1856. [01:21.05] <+Repriever> "Depends what needs read."
  1857. [01:21.28] <+Melchior> "I'm literate."
1858. [01:21.47] <Mitsaq> "Okay, then you can all share this."
1859. [01:21.51] * Mitsaq hands over the map.
1860. [01:22.04] <Mitsaq> "I should not tell how how to get to the Diviners, for they will try to pry that from me."
1861. [01:22.12] <+Repriever> "Maps aren't what they used to be."
  1862. [01:22.15] * Repriever considers it.
  1863. [01:22.20] <Mitsaq> "I drew it myself."
1864. [01:22.27] <Mitsaq> "Forgive me, cartography is dead as a science."
  1865. [01:22.40] <Mitsaq> +http://i.imgur.com/oQ1GwOk.png,
  1866. [01:23.33] <+Repriever> "Well..."
  1867. [01:23.37] <+Repriever> "It's a map."
1868. [01:23.40] <Mitsaq> "The land is wide and broad, and they will not find you. And if they do, defeat them."
1869. [01:24.04] <+Melchior> "It's a damn shame you feel you have to stay here, but we should go."
  1870. [01:24.16] <Mitsaq> "Yes."
1871. [01:24.48] * Mitsaq takes you out the back gate, all saddled up and ready to go
1872. [01:25.06] <Mitsaq> "It is a large rowboat, but I am not sure if the donkey will fit."
1873. [01:25.19] <+Repriever> "The donkey is the fifth."
  1874. [01:25.29] * Melchior chuckles.
  1875. [01:25.33] * Mitsaq laughs loudly
1876. [01:25.38] <Mitsaq> "Perhaps THAT is what we were missing!"
1877. [01:26.16] * You are now known as DM
1878. [01:26.27] <+Repriever> [I'm chewing on a pastel note card, and it tastes like chemicals :(]
1879. [01:26.57] <DM> Kathsiss is waiting by the pier, looking very different from how he did the night before. Instead of his bandaged swaths, he is wearing the smooth chitinous armor of his race, polished to a bright green sheen.
  1880. [01:27.16] <+Melchior> "Good morning Kathsiss."
  1881. [01:27.33] <+Shala> "Well, he looks different"
1882. [01:27.37] <+Repriever> "How do you know what kind of day it is?"
1883. [01:27.41] <DM> He stands taller even than Mitsaq, and folds him into a strange looking embrace.
1884. [01:27.51] <DM> "Yesss, the queen, the queen of all things"
  1885. [01:28.01] <+Melchior> "A bright day promises good things."
1886. [01:28.14] <DM> "You smelled different but they could not tellll."
  1887. [01:28.16] <+Repriever> "Some bright days."
1888. [01:28.18] <DM> "It was wonderful to watchhhh."
1889. [01:28.47] * You are now known as Mitsaq
  1890. [01:29.16] <Mitsaq> "Shala, Kir, Melchior, Repriever."
1891. [01:29.35] <+Repriever> "It seems Parhelion once more."
1892. [01:29.45] * Mitsaq says something in Kharvalathian to Kathsiss
1893. [01:30.24] * Repriever sets a seat near him, empty, and dusts it with a palm.
  1894. [01:30.28] * Melchior can speak Kharvalathian/Draconic as well.
1895. [01:30.44] <Mitsaq> The donkey awkwardly climbs into the rowboat.
  1896. [01:30.51] <+Melchior> "Attagirl."
1897. [01:31.26] * Repriever seems to lean, as if counterbalancing something.
1898. [01:32.10] * Kir eyes the boat cautiously
1899. [01:32.44] <Mitsaq> Kathsiss grabs the oars and slowly, you glide away from the dock.
1900. [01:32.56] <Mitsaq> Four humans, one Ssethkar, and a donkey.
  1901. [01:33.12] <+Repriever> "It's like poetry..."
1902. [01:33.20] <Mitsaq> Mitsaq watches you, smiling all the way, a large round man with a large red beard, covered in charms.
1903. [01:33.21] <+Repriever> "The donkey is the key to all of this, I agree."
  1904. [01:33.36] <Mitsaq> Roll a perception check
  1905. [01:33.41] <+Shala> ?roll 1d20
  1906. [01:33.41] <%tBot> Shala: 14 [14]
  1907. [01:33.46] <+Repriever> ?roll 1d20
  1908. [01:33.46] <%tBot> Repriever: 13 [13]
  1909. [01:33.48] <+Kir> ?roll 1d20+5
  1910. [01:33.48] <%tBot> Kir: 12 ([7] +5)
  1911. [01:33.54] <+Repriever> come on 11
  1912. [01:34.09] <+Melchior> ?roll 1d20+3
  1913. [01:34.09] <%tBot> Melchior: 19 ([16] +3)
1914. [01:34.37] <Mitsaq> You pass out further, onto the still waters.
1915. [01:34.43] * You are now known as DM
  1916. [01:34.49] <DM> It is quiet.
  1917. [01:34.52] <DM> And glassy.
  1918. [01:34.53] <+Shala> (
  1919. [01:34.55] <+Shala> :(
1920. [01:35.13] <DM> And if you continue to watch, you see Mitsaq turn. And perhaps you see his posture change.
1921. [01:35.31] <DM> A fog begins to roll in, as the faint hints of morning sunlight fade.
1922. [01:35.44] <DM> And, when perhaps ten minutes have passed...
1923. [01:35.55] <DM> The sounds of distant explosions begin.
  1924. [01:36.00] <DM> End session.
  1925. [01:36.16] * Repriever kisses the donkey
