  1. I'm highly conflicted on TLJ. The emotional part of my brain liked it, it succeeds visually, thematically, emotionally, etc... But the logical part of my brain was just shaking its fist at the screen for 2 and a half hours.
  2.
  3. Star Wars has always been on the "light" side of sci-fi, no pun intended. You're not supposed to pick apart the inconsistencies because that's not the point. But the gaps in logic just compounded enough to completely shatter my suspension of disbelief at multiple points.
  4.
  5. First and foremost, at this point in the story the galaxy is mostly run by the "resistance", right? So why does the entire resistance comprise just a few dozen ships? They run a fucking GALAXY, or at least a sizeable portion of it. They should have thousands of ships in their fleet, if not substantially more. Why are the terrorists so much better equipped? It makes absolutely no fucking sense and boggles my mind. Do the screenwriters not understand just how big a galaxy is?
  6.
  7. Ramming a ship at warp speed is a very cool concept, and again, it worked on an visual and emotional level. But it makes absolutely no sense. It's like in Star Trek, on at least one occasion they have the clever idea to teleport a torpedo onto an enemy ship. Well why not do that every single time? If even small ships like X-Wings can go warp speed, just create a fleet of remotely-controlled kamikaze ships to ram large targets.
  8.
  9. Also, at the beginning of the film we see several Star Destroyers, so we know the bad guys have a larger fleet than just the flagship + tie fighters. Why did they slowly chase the "rebels" instead of sending their ENTIRE FUCKING FLEET to quickly destroy them? Were the star destroyers busy with something else?
  10.
  11. Why did Rose stop Finn's suicide attack? They had absolutely nothing to lose. If I was Finn I would have been pissed, her selfish act could have cost them the entire war and resulted in billions of deaths. These dudes can blow up planets. Oh but you love him? I guess I'm supposed to care. I liked you until this, Rose.
  12.
  13. One other thing that annoyed me was the undercutting of any tense scene with humor. There's nothing wrong with humor, but when that insufferable porg is screeching at the screen during an action scene, I immediately realize that none of the characters are in any danger. The tone is all over the place. Gas the porgs.

  15. I guess that's all I can think of right now. I didn't mind Leia flying through space, we've known since ROTJ that she's force sensitive so it's not that far-fetched. It's not hard to imagine that Luke taught her some stuff between the events of these films. Yeah it looked silly, but that's all. Luke dying was unexpected but didn't bother me either. I hope Rey's parents really were just drunks, that would please me more than some trite convenience like her being Ben's brother.
  16.
  17. Rey's boring, Finn and Rose's subplot was near-meaningless, Poe is cool, Kylo is cool but I have no idea what his motivation is supposed to be at this point, Leia is cool but I'm guessing we won't see much more of her.
  18.
  19. Despite all my bitching I still kind of liked it, I guess. I don't know. I've never felt so conflicted over a film. At least it's original.
