Mobility shooters are games that emphasize fast movement. These games may include platforming and techniques to go even faster. For example, Quake 1 counts due to bunnyhopping and an emphasis on platforming, meanwhile Doom 4 (2016) is not included due to having a comparatively slow basic movement speed.

This is not set in stone, and should not be treated as gospel.


Legend:

MULTI = multiplayer as a main focus or well received multiplayer
BOT = offline bot game support
SOLO = has single player that isn't bots
MOD = has a notable modding scene
DL = Unofficial programs or ports are recommended for the features listed here.

Sprite-Based Games

While these games are in three-dimensional space, the majority of entities are two-dimensional, these are called sprites.

Doom Classic - SOLO BOT MOD DL | This includes The Ultimate Doom, Doom 2, Final Doom and Doom 64 Ex.
Heretic - SOLO DL | Fantasy Doom. GZDoom supports it.
Duke Nukem - 3D SOLO MOD DL | EDuke32.
Blood - SOLO DL | BuildGDX is recommended over Fresh Supply and NBood due to bugs and/performance issues in the later .
Shadow Warrior Classic - SOLO | Get Classic Redux. Failing that, use DOSBOX.
Ion Maiden - SOLO | Unfinished. May change name due to a lawsuit.
Rise of the Triad - SOLO | No good source port exists; WinRott or DOSBOS, pick your poison.
Star Wars Dark Forces - SOLO | DOSBOX. No good source port exists.

Quake-like

General: Movement mechanics including buildup of speed and rocket jumping.
Single player - Anything that goes map to map, relies on pickups and the levels aren't necessarily linear.
Multiplayer - Emphasis on first-person platforming, pickup control and a fast time to kill.

Quake 1 - SOLO MULTI BOT MOD DL | Quakespasm for single player, nquake for multiplayer. Avoid DarkPlaces if possible.
Quake 2 - SOLO MULTI MOD DL | Yamagi Quake II for single player. I dunno about multiplayer.
Quake 3 - MULTI BOT MOD DL |  Either quake3e or ioquake3 are fine.
Quake Live - MULTI BOT MOD
Quake 4 - SOLO MULTI
Quake Champions - MULTI BOT
CPMA - MULTI BOT | Quake 3 but with Quake 1 movement set to 11.
