  1. Statement Of Purpose
  2.
  3. My name is Abdul Rahman Khan, I was born on January 18th, 1997 in Bangladesh and I am currently living in the UAE. I have been living in the UAE since 2011 with my parents. My father has been working full time in the UAE for over 20 years now, my mother is a housewife and my brother is currently working full time in Melbourne, Australia. My father works as a Site Admin Coordinator for ZADCO, an oil company in the UAE and earns 20,475 AED every month. My brother works as a Hybrid Customer Success and Marketing Coordinator at 70:20:10 Solutions Pty Ltd and earns 6000 AUD every month.
  4. I studied until Grade 8 at the Oxford International School, Dhaka, Bangladesh before moving to the UAE and then finished the rest of my schooling here in UAE. Then I pursued a Diploma in Computing Systems and Development at the Pearson Accredited Institute in Dubai, UAE to learn more about the industry of Information Technology.
  5. I believe a Degree in Bachelor of Information Technology & Systems at VIT would give me the required skills to have a successful career, with with growth opportunities in the IT industry. The course has all the units I want to learn such as Software Engineering, Java Programming and Network & Information Security which I believe would prepare me to successfully pursue a career as a Software Developer.
  6. Since I have been living in Abu Dhabi, UAE for the past 6 years, I have done research on programs offered in the UAE. My most recent diploma which I have finished is UK accredited which is why I had also considered courses offered in UK universities based in the UAE. I have contacted universities such as the Middlesex University London and Heriot-Watt University which have campuses in Dubai, UAE. They all offer courses such as Computer Science or Information Technology.
  7. But I have always been interested to study in Australia because a degree gained on campus in Australia is well respected around the world including the UAE and my home country Bangladesh. Also, Melbourne is considered the most livable city in the world and an opportunity to live and study there would be a dream come true. Furthermore, I will be close to family as my brother lives in Melbourne too.
  8.
  9. The reason I have chosen Australia to continue my studies is because of the high quality of the education and also employers all around the world recognize degrees from Australian universities. Having a degree from your esteemed institute will give me the best skills allowing me to pursue amazing careers which would simply not be the case if I continue my education in the UAE or in Bangladesh.
  10. While providing superior quality of education, the living costs and tuition fees in Australia are easily more affordable than the U.K and the USA. International students are allowed to work part time that will also help to offset the living costs. Moreover, because my brother is already in Australia – working full time in IT, I will have the proper environment to study and do my best in the university.
  11. Victorian Institute of Technology will be an ideal place for me to do my Bachelor of Information Technology & Systems. The course has all the units I want to learn and I plan to pursue a career as a Systems Analyst or a Software Developer. It has all the modern tools and facilities needed for a fantastic IT learning experience.
  12. IT sector has been rapidly growing in Bangladesh over the last decade, so with a Bachelor Degree from a respected university like VIT in Australia will give me a better chance at thriving in my career in IT industry since Australian degrees are highly regarded in Bangladesh. Bangladesh currently has a big market in the IT sector with a lot of companies - Beximco Computers Ltd and BRAC BDmail Network, to name a few. My dream job would be to work IT industries all over the world with special interest in Cloud based technologies and Cyber-Security.
  13.
  14. I have received an overall 6.5 in IELTS and after finishing the course, I would pursue job opportunities in multinational companies around the world. My education and living expenses will be financed by my father who is working in the UAE and my brother who is working in Australia.
