- Notes about the faction:
- Tyranids play pretty differently to most other factions in 40k - they focus mostly on mobility and scoring VPs at the expense of their units’ lives to win games, so often they’ll lose games on attrition but be ahead on the scoreboard by the end. The actual damage output of the army tends to come from their ranged attacks (which are short ranged, but impressive), psychic powers and monsters.
- Most of the time the army is built to score Deploy Scramblers and Engage On All Fronts fairly easily, and pick the third secondary based on the matchup.
- In most games it is optimal to upgrade both Warrior units with Enhanced Resistance, and use your relic slot for the Resonance Barb on one Neurothrope.

- This list leverages the maneuverability and power of Dimachaerons to force their opponent into a corner. Generally it will send one Dimachaeron in each turn using Hive Commander from the Swarmlord, while keeping the remaining Dimachaerons safe behind terrain (they threat far enough that they don’t normally need to move far up the table to be in threat range), while Warriors hold down mid-table objectives to win the game. The Dimachaerons rarely survive the game, but they’ve done their job if they can create enough space to let the Exocrines and Warriors do what they want unmolested.
- The Battalion is in Hive Fleet Leviathan to keep the Dimachaerons safer from an alpha strike (it gives them 6+++) alongside the Venomthropes (who give them -1 to be hit, but don’t work on the Kronos units), but this could be swapped around if necessary.
- The Lictor and Warriors should score Deploy Scramblers consistently, and Dimachaerons are good at scoring Engage. Don’t forget to use Metabolic Overdrive to keep Swarmlord in range to Hive Commander Dimachaerons when needed (and to allow your Infantry to perform actions more easily), Overrun to keep Dimachaerons away from enemy melee threats, and Voracious Appetite to reroll wounds any time a melee monster makes it to combat.

- This is much more of a “standard” Tyranid list - it uses the Warriors and other troops to hold down the frontline while relying on psychic and ranged damage to actually kill models.
- The genestealers are good against horde units or move aggressively to fight over enemy objectives, and the multitude of deep strikers (Lictors & Rippers) makes scoring secondaries and fighting over enemy backline objectives easy.
- The Skyslashers are good at scoring Engage on turn 1, move-blocking and contesting banners.
- Most of your CP will be going towards Single Minded Annihilation to double-shoot the Hive Guard unit, since that’s where a lot of your damage is coming from.
