  1. NEED TO UPLOAD FILES ON IODINE FROM HOME? A GUIDE
  2. by Adam
  3.
  4. You'll need to download some special software for this. Yeah, I know. Mumble grumble. The software in question is known as file-transfer software; the words to look for are "FTP capabilities." If you have one already, you should hopefully know what I mean by this- then again, if you do, you probably don't need this entire tutorial and can get by on just the third paragraph. Otherwise, just download FileZilla.
  5.
  6. Open up the program and you'll be greeted by an interface that hopefully doesn't look too scary. See the two big boxes? The one on the left is the filesystem on your computer. You should be familiar with how you organize your computer, so navigate to where you've saved whatever file you'd like to upload.
  7.
  8. Up next is connecting to TJ's filesystem. You do this with the set of boxes at the very top of the screen. The host box is the location to where FileZilla will attempt to connect; TJ will accept connection requests to tj03.local.tjhsst.edu, so paste that in there. Then, for the username and the password, use the ones associated with your TJ account. Finally, for the port, enter 22.
  9.
  10. Click Quickconnect. You'll see the console directly below start spewing a bunch of messages; hopefully, if you can type correctly, you will be connected to TJ's filesystem and the files will be displayed on the second big box on the right.
  11.
  12. Just as before, navigate to the folder into which you'd like to upload your file. Check the two boxes- on the left, you should be viewing the folder with your file in it on your computer, and on the right, you should see the folder in which you're placing the file.
  13.
  14. On the left, double-click your file, or select multiple files, right-click, and select upload. If you're connected properly, this will upload the files into TJ's R: Drive.
  15.
  16. And that's it! Close the window and your connection will close as well.
