- Over the past year or two, I've uploaded a number of song parody lyrics related to speedrunning and/or streaming. And as I'm not getting any younger, I'm basically saying "screw it" and am going to try and record some of these. DUN DUN!
- Some notes about this:
- -The name of this project is going to be "OoB Glitchless". Officially, the "OoB" won't stand for anything, though speedrunners and those who orbit that community will probably be amused by the paradox between "Glitchless" and what "OoB" means in that context. This is to keep this separate from if I decide to go back and do more "serious" music.
- -The instrumentation for it is going to be mostly bass guitar, a drum machine, and some vocals. The former because it's my primary instrument, and the latter because it's the best I can do in terms of getting a decent drum sound. The vocals, well, a parody song project needs lyrics, and those lyrics have to be sung. I do think I have a decent voice, but I need to be conscious of my range, and I'll adjust the pitch of songs as I think I need to to accommodate said range.
- -As the project matures, I may see about going into original songs that poke fun at aspects of speedrunning/streaming culture. I'd also like to go a little deeper into the catalogs of artists I like as far as the parodies go, but we'll see how that ends up.
- -I want to keep this lighthearted and fun in general, without crossing into malice. I do love streaming and speedrunning, I just also happen to think that both (Especially the latter) have their ridiculous aspects that are ripe for making fun of (The other "finalist" name for this project was "Percent%", making fun of speedrunners' propensity to end every category with "%", as well as tweaking some of the people who get all bent out of shape at that [Admittedly incorrect] use). I want to keep anything I do in that spirit.
- -I am oddly excited about this, even though using multiple bass tracks on everything is basically begging for it to turn into a muddy low-frequency soup.
