- Family Reunion
- Ruby waited excitedly amongst the crowds of people who had just gathered to watch the most recent fight on Beacon's campus.
- Weiss was beside her, muttering and sighing about rude people with no manners.
- "I can't believe that man is related to you. No, wait. Yes I can."
- "Wasn't he totally cool?"
- "Not nearly as much as my sister."
- "Pfff, please. Okay, maybe your sister was cool, but my Uncle Qrow was awesome!"
- "Hardly..."
- Their respective family members had just been marched off by Ironwood and Ozpin a few moments ago after their makeshift battleground had been repaired by Glydna.
- Once their playful bantering had come to an end, Weiss suggested she and Ruby wait outside the doors for their relatives to be released. Ruby agreed and bounded after her.
- "I'm sooo happy my Uncle Qrow is here! I wanna tell him a ton of things!"
- "Once she's finished with her meeting, I'd like to discuss some things with Winter, as well."
- They didn't have to wait terribly long. Or at least, Weiss didn't.
- The building's doors opened a few minutes later, and a very miffed Winter stormed out with as much composure as she could possibly manage, which wasn't much.
- Weiss perked up and hurried over, timidly requesting a private audience with her. Winter agreed, but not before sending a disapproving glare over her shoulder at Ruby.
- But Ruby could guess it was meant less for her and more for her impulsive uncle.
- Nonetheless, she waved and wished the two sisters a temporary goodbye as they headed off together.
- But Ruby didn't wait alone for long. She soon spotted a familiar face in the crowds outside and called out to her.
- "Yaaang! Over here!"
- Her sister caught her eye and grinned before pushing her way through to where Ruby was waiting.
- "There you are! So am I hearing right? Is Uncle Qrow really here?"
- "Wait, how'd you know it was him?"
- "Oh," Yang shrugged. "Well people were just sayin' there was some crazy guy with a huge weapon fightin' this pretty lady and I just sorta put two and two together."
- "Oh." Ruby nodded. "Where's Blake?"
- "She's hangin' with Sun for a bit-"
- "And Weiss is with her sister-"
- "-Which means we get to spend some quality time with crazy Uncle Qrow!" Yang slung her arm around Ruby and noogied her hair. "Where is he, anyway?"
- "Professor Ozpin's yelling at him, I think."
- "Oh. Yeah, I can see that."
- They waited for a short while together, already planning what they'd discuss with him when he was released from the lecture.
- It was only ten or so minutes later when the automatic doors slid open and out meandered their sighing uncle, mumbling under his breath.
- "Idiots, all of 'em..."
- But his darker, offhand comments went unnoticed by the girls waiting for him. Ruby jumped up at him even before he could register what was happening.
- "Uncle Qroooow!" she squealed again, hugging his other arm this time. "Heh, I decided to follow you. And Yang's here now, too!"
- "S'up?" With a charming grin, Yang put one arm around Ruby and one around Qrow.
- The man quickly shook off his previous grievances and laughed loudly.
- "There's my favorite girls! How's it goin'?" He offered his fist to Yang and she bumped it with her own.
- "It's goin' great!" she replied. "Ruby and I are on a team together! She's the leader!"
- "No kiddin'," Qrow chuckled, ruffling Ruby's hair. She giggled and blushed before releasing his arm.
- "Yeah... kinda. I still don't even know how it happened, really! I didn't think I was leader quality."
- "But the most important thing," her uncle commented. "Is that you got chosen over that Schnee girl. That says somethin' about you and about her."
- "Oh, but Weiss is super great! She's a really good fighter and even though we were off to a rocky start, we're really close now! She even introduced me to her sister as her friend!"
- "I'll be damned," he grunted. "One of them friends with one of us? Huh. Guess there's a first time for everything."
- "Yeah," Yang agreed, motioning for them to follow her. "She's not half bad. Most of the time."
- "Actually," Ruby put in as they started walking. "I'd wanted to ask you something, Uncle Qrow. Well, I wanna ask you a lotta things, but like, this thing first!"
- "Shoot, kiddo."
- "How are you so close with Weiss' sister?"
- The man laughed out loud and nearly fell over.
- "Close? You call that close? She wants my head on a silver platter, kid."
- "But you guys looked like such good friends!" Ruby marveled. "Only good friends can fight each other so well! You can't fight someone you don't like that well! You two were so perfectly matched!"
- "Che. Perfectly matched, my foot. No way was she ever gonna beat me. I was just goin' easy on her's all." As they made their way toward the dorm building, he slung one arm around either of the girls, leaning mostly onto Yang but speaking mostly to Ruby. "Listen'na me, kid. Schnee's ain't no good. They don't care 'bout nothin' but themselves and their damn money and their damn Dust. No way are any of us ever gonna be friends with them."
- "Aw, I don't think that's true," Yang cut in. "Weiss is alright."
- Qrow stumbled in his stride, and they straightened him out. He hummed to himself and seemed to think for a minute before shrugging.
- "Hell, maybe you kids can made nice with the little ice queen. If anyone can do it, it'd be you. But the older one's a lost cause, I'll tell ya that much. I'll wish ya luck. Just keep givin' her that smile'a yours and she'll come around." He ruffled Ruby's hair again, grinning lazily. "Now then, where're ya takin' me?"
- "Our room!" Yang declared. "Dad sent Zwei to us for a while, so he'd probably like to see you!"
- "Oh, that little rascal? Sure, lemme at 'im. Time for a little family reunion."
- Ruby giggled and hugged him again, and this time Yang joined in as well.
- Somehow they managed to enter the through the building's doors while hanging all over one another in a massive group hug.
- By the time the laughing, giggling bunch had stumbled to RWBY's dorm, Ruby's hair was sticking out in every direction from how much her uncle had ruffled it.
- "You kids..." he chuckled. "You're the best, y'know that?"
- "C'mon in, Uncle Qrow!" Yang invited, kicking the door open with a smile. "We've got a lot to talk about!"

- A/N: Just had to throw that line in. Since it's what Raven said to Yang, I figured I'd let Yang say it to Raven's brother ;3
- Just imagine this takes place between the end of episode 3 and beginning of 4 or something! Hope you enjoyed this tiny little thing!
