In the year 2013, the city of Los Angeles has been separated from the country by a series of earthquakes, and like its neighbor New York, has transformed from a wonderful city to a corrupted prison. Plus, The United States has become a more moral society. Cuervo, a Cuban terrorist has used the president&#39;s daughter, Utopia to steal a device that controls a special orbiting EMP weapon system. The President has called upon the untrustworthy mercenary Snake Plissken. To ensure his cooperation, they have implanted a virus bomb inside his body, and it will inject the virus into his body in 9 hours, so Snake must stop Cuervo, rescue Utopia and get back the Weapon&#39;s device.
Snake Plissken is once again called in by the United States government to recover a potential doomsday device from Los Angeles, now an autonomous island where undesirables are deported.
I would have to say that Escape from L.A. is one of the worst movies<br/><br/>I have ever seen. Why did they have that fruit Kurt Russel in it? He is<br/><br/>nearly as bad an actor as Shaquille O&#39;neal. And Really,the plot has nothing to do with the title. He is more like going in than escaping. Oh,and i can not remember a script as horrible as this. On the first movie,he goes in to save the president after he crash landed his airplane in New York, A city that is entirely a prison. Then, on the sequel,he goes in to L.A. (which is also a prison)to save the president&#39;s daughter. I could have wrote one myself better than this. Instead of the tagline being&quot;snake is back&quot;,it should have been&quot;Snake is back,and a lot of people look p***ed&quot;. Or,&quot;Snake is back,and nobody cares&quot;.Thats all folks!
After Snake Plissken (KurT Russell) escaped from New York he may do it again, but this time from L.A. Okay we saw millions of sequels so why not this one, after all was Escape from New York watchable but then you have forgotten about John Carpenter. What the hell is wrong with him? He should know better being the veteran he is but not only is this is a complete copy of the original (only the decors seem different plus some stupid inventions that even wouldn&#39;t make it in James Bondscripts) plus if you don&#39;t have the budget to do special effects please don&#39;t make them at all... Just watch the scene in where Snake is &quot;surfing&quot; on the waves (such poor effects aren&#39;t even made in cheap musicvideos) or a helicopter that seems to be made of  painted plastic...come on, you aren&#39;t making movies for Teletubbies!!! Totally unnecessary sequel, even an episode from The A-Team is better!
After 15 years of computer-generated effects, apocalyptic sci-fi and Arnie movies with flippant kiss-off lines, the sequel feels hackneyed and pointless.
Director John Carpenter commented just before the release of Escape From L.A. (1996) that IF this movie was successful then he would consider a third movie and that the only place left for Snake to escape from would be Earth. &quot;Escape From Earth&quot; was just an idea - Carpenter never even gave that title, it&#39;s just something people assumed it would be called.<br/><br/>Escape From L.A. evidentley was not a commercial success and so the idea of a third movie went no further than Carpenter&#39;s comment. Depends on your point of view. Snake&#39;s decision is to essentially turn Earth&#39;s history back to the Victorian era, pre-electricity, where a man like him would flourish as a self-reliant gunfighter and despeardo. On the other hand it&#39;s suggested that humankind has deteriorated into tyranny so he essentially tears a corrupt society down and replaces it with a more egalitarian society &#39;Cabin in the Woods&#39; style instead.  a5c7b9f00b
