  1. Hey.
  2.
  3. So I don't really feel like a retcon is a great idea at this point; people have reacted so it's overall a bit late for that. I can at least offer some advice to avoid this sort of thing in the future, though.

  5. First of all, the biggest problem was that you were taking a lot of words out of context, which led me to believe you were reading more into what you wanted out of the conversation rather than what Hiroshi himself was saying. His "fear" in this case, for example, was an apologetic term for being unable to explain why his deja vu works the way it does, but the Doctor immediately leapt on this as being some sort of valuable clue that Hiroshi is actually scared, doubtful, and not knowing what he's doing. Instead, if you read the context of his post, he's just asking for advice on how to proceed or if anybody had anything in particular they wanted him to look into, and has already made up his mind this is the best idea. Hiroshi's primary quirk is that he reacts to things as though he's a player avatar in a game which keeps changing details between versions, but still firmly enmeshed in the diagetic framework of his world. So if he's doing it off a hunch, it's because in some time and place, it's what "the game" is asking him to do, and thus shooting him down isn't going to help. Just make sure you're actually reading what the other character is saying, and that'll help solve a lot of these sorts of problems.

  7. Second of all, you need to be really careful about entering plots this way. I've been RPing a good while now, and if there's one thing that really irritates the hell out of both plot makers and plot participants, it's people who try to stomp in and make a plotline all about themselves. One guy I knew was INFAMOUS for trying to make the plotline about him without actually putting any effort into creating a plausible reason for it, and would become very passive aggressive if denied much to the eternal irritation of the mods. If the Doctor had in fact gone to have words with this guy, it really would have made matters worse; Kosmas is an Infiltrator, the mun was planning this as part of his own plot-related moves, and to have the Doctor come in and bitch him out for something he legitimately feels is the best way forward (and a plot hook) is a really great way to shut things down fast. Try to reconceptualize a way where the Doctor can STILL be an overbearing asshat, but not in a way that will disrupt the flow of plot. (And for the love of God make sure you clear things like that with the mun beforehand!)

  9. Finally, just try to remember that just because it SEEMS IC doesn't mean it's the best possible way to interact with other players. I knew a guy once who would rush into any plotline uninvited, trash it with his uber powers, and then hide behind "IC" when people called him on his shit. Don't be that guy. Try to remember we're all just trying to have fun here, and your actions honestly felt like you were trying to prevent me from doing what I wanted to do. Hiroshi is NOT a well-known character. It is very difficult for him to get involved in things, and I would rather not have plot hooks killed before they start.

  11. The Doctor is a great character; I knew a woman once who played literally all of them. Just remember that what works in the show isn't necessarily going to work in a collaborative plot atmosphere.
