What are Fortuna's augmentations?

Fortuna's augmentations were originally weird improvements for supersoldier park rangers whose purpose was to defend wilderness from the impending apocalypse. They failed.

Fortuna's augmentations are an unholy blend of plant and animal. Augmentations tend to emulate characteristics of forest plants and animals (branch shoulder spines, deer antlers, cassowary claws, et cetera) to blend better into the environment, which is super useful. However, when you live in a heavily urbanized region like Fortuna, it's pretty much pointless.

Fortuna cuts off the spinier, more ornamental parts because she wants to wear clothes and not buy new clothes with her academia budget.

History and Fate

Supersoldier park rangers were ascetics. Volunteers have to absolve all ties to their life and spend the rest of their lives defending biomes (forest, arctic, et cetera). The garden-ruins, called "Nemorial Mori," Fortuna messed with can be classified as a forest biome.

These particular supersoldier park rangers fiercely defended their territory for so long, they became one with the forest. When the apocalypse killed them all, their minds were uploaded and spread across the native web of life, from the smallest of microbes to the largest of trees. A state of deathless existence. Wow! That's fucked up.

Nemorial Mori

The arrival of the digital mist certainly did not make things better. The emotion-contextual Veil agitates the disembodied minds, making them remember things but not the context, and the visitors can sense this. Nemorial Mori has the emotion stats of Sad and Peaceful.

Sad because the supersoldier park rangers failed at their jobs and that their failure was inevitable. They also miss the life (their friends, family, et cetera) they had to absolve before they become supersoldier park rangers.

Peaceful because they are now part of the biomes they loved or grew to love. Nature is passionless and overwhelming. The fact that nature will continue and change with or without them is a comforting, if neutral thought.

Why does Fortuna eats garbage?

Taste good.

Fortuna's augmentations are probably at the "armor-up" stage of their life. Unforunately, her augmentations do not come with an instruction manual so basically she just follows her cravings and indiscriminately eats plastic, road signs, TTB hubcaps, candy wrappers, anything really. Fortuna is constantly malnourished, which is sad but. Fortuna is eating garbage, which is funny.

Fortuna doesn't eat live humans and human corpses because that makes her uncomfortable.
