  1. Mahkayleigh D. Barnes has a leftover cup of coffee and two loosies of Malbro Reds every morning to start her day. Its the only thing that wakes her up these days. The sleep rubs away from her eyes, and the outlines of her trailer become more defined. Making her way to the stove and putting her kettle of coffee on, and smacks the package of cigarettes against her palm. Using the open stove flame, she lights the first one and turns on the radio: "Eyyyyyy its 5:03 at 102.8 The Rock, and coming up in just a few minutes, you can score a chance to win free beer! Yes, that's right, its Free Beer Friday!"

  3. She only drinks Keystone, but that's cheap already. Mahkayleigh picks up clothes from one of three laundry baskets, and after a few good sniffs, determines they're clean. She was running late, so only a few treatments of Suave deodorant would work hard to keep her smelling fresh all day. It said so on the label, and its gotta be right since its one of those fancy, foreign deals. She slips into a pair of blue-jean overalls, poking her tail out the back and put on her obviously used wife-beater. Her wings stretched out and her tail pointed. 'I should be getting more sleep' she says, not like she ever will. She pulled out from her laundry mountain a wrinkled black shirt. no matter how hard she tugged, the wrinkles remained and distorted the words "Redneck Yacht Club". The radio continued: "It's time for some new Rock, from the Foo Fighters-"

  5. She fastened her overall straps and turned off the radio.

  7. As she brushed her white hair, careful not to nick her horns, her thoughts centered on the eight-hour job ahead of her. Topping it with a worn Ford ball-cap, she grabbed her coffee mug and went out the screen door. In the worn patch of dirt, lay her baby: a forest green, '89 Monte-Carlo. Nicknamed 'Gatsby', that little thing carried her from California to Chattanooga, Tennessee. Right behind it was the faded, rose-red couch with tires for seat cushions. And in them, was her other baby: Bacon. He was a fine, fine breed of pitbull. He got the name from his handsome red and white coat; true to his name, everyone is always happy to see Bacon.

  9. Opening the passenger side door, she pulls out two Quik-mart shopping bags filled with trash and tosses them off to the side. "You comin' buddy?"
  10.
  11. Bacon leaped from his tire cushion and scurried into the passenger seat. She never had to teach him how to do that, he just inherently sat in the bucket seat; smiling like an idiot. Mahkayleigh climbed into her seat and rubbed that adorable boy's head. "We better hurry or else we'll be late to work, baby."

  15. Ellijay's Mufflers and other things was probably one of the few lucrative businesses in Ellijay, Tn. For every customer to come in and leave with a new part, the old parts would be fixed and 'acquired' by its employees to avoid 'wasteful disposal'. The owner of Mufflers and other things was Mister Carl D. Beraider; the owner that was constantly on 'vacation' in Mexico.
