  1. Well, you did it. You made it to Equestria. The promise land. A utopia. A world without strife.
  2.
  3. And you hate it.
  4.
  5. It finally happens. No matter how strong you are, you are just one man. And you are a man who hit his breaking point. You though it would never come to this, but you see the ultimate sin as the last choice.
  6.
  7. You prepare to commit suicide. Something totally unheard of and unthinkable in Equestria.
  8.
  9. But even that can't go right, as you are happened upon by a pony, who forcefully stops you at the last moment.
  10. Roll with post numbers.
  11.
  12. >"I don't know about this Scootaloo."
  13. >Applebloom looks over the structure, her practiced eyes dissecting the flaws, "It looks like it could fall over if you sneezed at it."
  14. >"Come on, urban exploring would be cool as a cutie mark!"
  15. >The unicorn shivered loudly behind the other two fillies, made worse by the heavy pack strapped to her back.
  16. >"W-why did it have to be this creepy place though?"
  17. >Scootaloo scoffs at Sweetie Belle, pointing a hoof at the top of the hill.
  18. >"Just look at it! There's bound to be loads of secrets inside. Maybe even treasure!"
  19. >The decrepitated cottage stood well outside of the town of Ponyville, well away from any potential pedestrians.
  20. >Rumor was it once was the home of a strange being that had come out of nowhere one day in Ponyville.
  21. >It had come into town many times yet nopony knew much about him and none ever tried to.
  22. >It did odd jobs around town then returned to the abandoned cottage, alone.
  23. >One day it had just stopped showing up, much to the relief of the townponies.
  24. >Eventually everypony had ceased to speak or think of it, assuming it had just left the area.
  25. >The Cutie Mark Crusaders had only heard about it during one of Granny Smith's ramblings.
  26. >Scootaloo had got the bright idea to explore the house as another in a long list of attempts at finding their special talent.
  27. >Said filly now marched confidently toward the entrance of the building but pauses once she reaches the portal that looms over the three of them.
  28. >"Whoa, it's huge. It must have been a giant!"
  29. >Her conclusion seems to excite her even more.
  30. >"There must be treasure inside! Giants hoard treasure right?"
  31. >Applebloom just shrugged at the question while Sweetie gulped as she stared up at it.
  32. >Unperturbed, Scootaloo goes to remove the obstacle.
  33. >She has to use her feeble wings to get enough lift to reach the doorknob but she succeeds.
  34. >She lets out a triumphant yell when the door yields to her hooves and opens slightly in reply.
  35. >After she lands she sticks her head inside to open it the rest of the way.
  36. >She takes a couple of steps inside, followed by her less than enthusiastic compatriots.
  37. >From the entranceway, the trio peered at the shapes that were illuminated by the light of the doorway.
  38. >"Everything's so...big." Sweetie said in a whisper.
  39. >Scootaloo squints her eyes.
  40. >"Can barely see anything though. Turn on the flashlight, Sweetie Belle."
  41. >"Okay."
  42. >The flashlight lifts from her pack in a shimmer of green light.
  43. >With a flick of her magic, it turns on to cut through the thick darkness.
  44. >More details become clearer to the trio as the light is slowly moved over the surroundings.
  45. >Though the room was spacious, it was sparse.
  46. >Very little furniture filled the space and the walls were bare of any decorations or photos.
  47. >Cobwebs lined the walls and a layer of dust covered almost ever inch of the room.
  48. >No sounds could be heard except the noise of a house in serious disrepair, reaffirming Applebloom's earlier fears of collapse.
  49. >So distracted by this she almost misses when Sweetie's light catches the edge of something dangling in the air.
  50. >"Wait Sweetie, go back!"
  51. >Complying, the beam moves back slightly, shining upon the object Applebloom had seen.
  52. >Tied to one of the support beams was a single piece of rope that swayed slightly from the wind that snuck through the gaps in the walls.
  53. >The led into a long knot that ended in a big loop.
  54. >Applebloom had worked with all kinds of ropes and knots on the farm but she couldn't figure out the function of this one.
  55. >She took a few steps forward to get a better look at it.
  56. >"What in blazes-"
  57. >CRACK!
  58. >The loud noise causes Applebloom to backpedal away with a yelp.
  59. >Scootaloo visibly stiffens to the right of her.
  60. >"WHAT WAS THAT!?"
  61. >"I DON'T KNOW! I STEPPED ON SOMETHING!"
  62. >Despite the fright, Applebloom does not run; instead she turns her head to peer through the blinding light of the flashlight.
  63. >"Sweetie, the light!"
  64. >It takes her a moment to get herself under control, but Sweetie eventually moves the flashlight's halo toward the spot Applebloom once stood.
  65. >The first thing that is revealed to them is a crumbling chair, knocked over backwards on the ground.
  66. >Next the girls find with alarm are the several white, oblong masses spread out in a circle directly under the swaying rope.
  67. >As the halo of light moved over the pile, the fillies' apprehension grew as they slowly took in steadily familiar objects.
  68. >Some were short, long, big, and small.
  69. >And in the middle of it all, with it's cranium crashed in, was the skull of a creature that stared back at them with its dark, hollow eyes.
  70. >This is the straw that finally breaks any resolve the girls have left.
  71. >In sync the fillies scream at the top of their tiny lungs, dropping anything not strapped to them and galloping full tilt for the exit.
  72. >They shove the door out of the way before scrambling down the hill toward the safety of the town and their beds.
  73. >The door hits the wall with such force that it rebounds and slams shut after them.
  74. >Once again sealing off the lone occupant from the rest of the world.
