Antonio of the Death is a "cangaceiros" killer. Cangaceiro is the local name for a popular leader. Antonio is hired to kill the one who seems to be the last one in the Pirahna's Valley. This man is being followed by a strange woman who is considered a Saint. Once Antonio has killed the Cangaceiro, he changes his way of thinking when listening to the Saint's words.
Period piece about a Brazil that is no more. This movie is the sequel to "God and the Devil in the Land of the Sun" (Deus e o diabo na terra do sol), and takes place 29 years after Antonio das Mortes killed Corisco (the "Blond Devil"), last of the Cangaceiros. In "the old days", Antonio's function in life was exterminate these bandits, on account of his personal grudges against them. His life had been meaningless for the last 29 years, but now, a new challenge awaits him. When a Cangaceiro appears in Jardim Das Piranhas, the local Land Baron (Jofre Soares), an old man, does what seems obvious to him: he calls Antonio das Mortes, killer of Cangaceiros. At first, Antonio is ecstatic. His life has gained new meaning. But soon it becomes obvious that this new Cangaceiro (named Coirana) is no Corisco, but an idealist. An idealist of the sixties in the garb of the forties. A leader to the hopeless and the hungry. Antonio das Mortes begins to reconsider his feelings towards Coirana and his followers...
I was amazed to see that others have given this movie an average rating of 8.5 out of 10.  It's extremely dated, confusing, and quite silly.  Some people walked out of it when it showed at the Pacific Film Archive in Berkeley, Calif., USA, recently.  And that audience represents the acme of film buffs and connoisseurs --people who can tolerate almost anything.
This film is a perfect example of Vanity - in the public seeing the film. It has no plot, no wisdom, no intelligence - nothing! It does have a fat man with a hat and a lot of bad Music and dancing and idiotic talk upon talk. It isn&#39;t even a fart of a film. Only a public that has never seen a good film or seen a good film that they were too dumb to understand - only such a public will interpret something akin of quality into this film. There is no quality - only a fat man with a hat. Fat man fat man fat man hat hat hat fat man. fat. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmman. hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhat.<br/><br/>Fat man with a hat.
