Some of you had pointed out it was the 老屎忽 or oldfucks' faults which I agreed. They killed the creativity.

Conservative, ballad, karaoke and "老屎忽 oldfucks" are the criminals. Chinese (including TW) are conservative. Overly rely on ballad. The wrong assumption of "why fix if it's not broken". And bam, kpop wave came. Chinese and Japan music had to up their games.

They tried the "jumping bunnies" like Super Girls (HK), Popu Lady (TW), SNH48 (CN), 蜜蜂少女隊 LadyBees (CN) and etc. Minor backlash due to "stockholm syndrome". Generally positive.

See for yourself what this TW guy who works in the music industry had to say:

"I find the Taiwanese/Hong Kong/China ballads really boring (and I'm saying this as a Taiwanese who used to write songs professionally for pop-stars in Taiwan). The ballads all sound pretty much the same, with the same kind of arrangement, melodic contours, and lyrically it's always about getting dumped/breaking up and crying over it. No matter how much poetic quality they try to inject into these songs in terms of lyrics, it's all just different variations upon the same template, and it's been like that for decades and decades. It's the same regurgitated stuff over and over and it is one of the main reasons why Chinese mainstream music is so boring compared to Japanese and Korean music. And when they're not turning out the same regurgitated ballads, they're copying/ripping off the Japanese and the South Koreans. But I suppose every country's music scene's got it's own issues, and I'm just extra annoyed by the Chinese mainstream music market because even when I was working in it, I hated how commercialized and lacking in innovation it was. I wrote songs that went against the mainstream template, trying to inject more edgy and experimental qualities from my American underground/alternative roots into what I wrote, but I was told by record company CEOs that the local market only wanted the simple ballads because that's what they're used to and that's what's popular. I got so disgusted that I came back to the States.

Nowadays, the underground/indie scene in the Chinese music market has gotten quite strong, so that's a silver lining in the cloud for sure. The stuff that's happening in the indie scene is FAR more interesting than those regurgitated boring ballads in the mainstream market."

Personally, I kinda get used to ballad. So much so, I do not complain. Chinese rules ballad. Black rules rap. They all agreed to it.

And surprise, surprise??!! If I tell you HK people (majority of those noobs) only like ballad (lovey dovey songs), would you believe that?

The concept of singing along with it. It fits perfectly for the business owners, especially those who controlled the karaoke chains/joints. And the record companies are happily to sell the songs' licenses to various mediums/platforms.

The videos/songs below are one of the best in 2015 and 2016, respectively. People went crazy with it last time. I think this is enough to prove my theory on "HK ppl love ballad ONLY". They like emo shit, thought provoking and meaningful lyrics because they've been poisoned to believe that ballad is everything for decades by the 老屎忽 "oldfucks".

The complacent disease of the mainstream music industry (preserving the status quo) in Taiwan and Hong Kong or Sinosphere is unthinkable. That's why I support indie!
The "oldfucks" are not into starting a music revolution. And rocking that revolution boat is too tough. No one wants to do it, which including Eason Chan, Jay Chou, all those 老屎忽 "oldfuck" composers, lyricists like 林夕 and Wyman 黃偉文, and CEO of record companies. The new wave lyricists are ppl like Cousin Fung and 陳詠謙 Chan Wing Him... just popped into my head. They are part of the status quo. They can deny it but I'm not buying it.
