- Assuming this is a powered event internal heating of the core would have to account for a power output in excess of 4 x 10^26 W for the length of the operation - for however long that is - to keep the star from collapsing. This would explain the massive, hundreds of thousands to millions of kilometer wide patch of 10,000 K ejecta emanating from the photosphere. If this facility was operating independently for roughly 100,000 years it would have expended nearly the equivalent output of the luminosity of the entire Milky Way Galaxy for nearly five minutes. To further elucidate the scale of the operation, a runaway main sequence star would require something on the order of 1.25 x 10^39 J to sustain over the 100,000 years (rough estimate) that this facility was left abandoned, roughly 250,000 yottatons.
