  5. I don't feel like yapping anymore. In short though, this wasn't a super fun part to read. It talks about tarbiyat-e-khudi and how one should care for it. It has 3 steps: first itaa'at, second zabt-e-nafs, and third niyaabat-e-ilaahi. During the third step, Iqbal repeatedly asks someone from the skies to descend and save us from corruption and fix our rapidly deteriorating world. It felt like he was calling the h!dden !m@m. Yeah I gotta censor this. Interesting. I'd give this section 6.5-7 out of 10.

  11. 62% done! Here Iqbal presents Hazrat Ali as an epitome of someone who has mastered his nafs. I found this part fun to read. I never knew, surprisingly, that (one of the) reasons why he's called Father of Dust (Abu Turab) is because he has mastered his nafs and has complete control over his body and desires. Iqbal instructs that from your clay, create a man (aadmi), and from that man create a world ('aalam). Of course, who wouldn't remember this saying then?:
  12.
  13. "You presume you are a small entity, but within you is enfolded the entire Universe."
  14.
  15. The entire saying goes like this:
  16.
  17. Your sickness is from you, but you do not perceive it and your remedy is within you, but you do not sense it.
  18. You presume you are a small entity, but within you is enfolded the entire Universe.
  19. You are indeed the evident book, by whose alphabet’s the hidden becomes manifest.
  20. Therefore, you have no need to look beyond yourself. What you seek is within you, if only you reflect.
  21.
  22. The last words are the most piquant. "If only you reflect"....
  23. If only a man reflects inside himself, inside his nafs... I have coincidentally been listening to some lectures about maa'rifat-e-nafs recently and I came across Iqbal's emphasis on nafs. Really lovely... if only you reflect.

  25. Id give this section a 7/10. It was interesting in the first half, but in the second half, it deviates from what the title of this section betokened (that is, Setting forth the mysteries of the names of Ali). I only noticed one epithet of his being discussed, that is the Father of Dust, and nothing else.
