FEF Discord Rules

The politics/politics-and-drama channel hasn't really fulfilled its purpose for some time now, and has become so difficult to moderate that it's played a huge part in destroying engagement with the server as a whole. As a result, the time has now come to remove it from the server entirely. As a result, of course, new roles will have to be made to govern what topics can and cannot be engaged with on the server.

The following topics are banned outright:
-Arguing or debating government policies, or discussing controversial government policies that you can reasonably expect to drive people away from a channel or start an argument.
-Discussing politicians and government officials
-Conversations about social norms that you can expect will cause an argument or be particularly controversial - "culture war" sorts of things. If you're not sure, ask.

The following topics should be discussed with care:
-Controversial video game topics should be kept to the #vidya-games-channel - this includes news on video game controversies, and includes controversial discussions about how people play video games, or the messages of video games.
-Controversial media topics (such as YouTuber or VTuber drama, or other celebrity drama) should be kept to the #other-media channel, and you should avoid getting too deeply into particularly heavy topics such as China re: VTubers or sexual scandals.
-While we're certainly not going to be banning LGBT discussion, given that this is something that makes up a huge part of the lives of many of our members, please be careful bridging the gap between personal experiences and what societal norms around LGBT should or should not be.

In any of these cases, if you're getting heated, take a step back.

IMPORTANT:
The moderation team reserves the right to shut down any and all conversations if we feel it is contributing to a tense or toxic atmosphere, or leading up to a fight/plainly being a fight. You will not be able to successfully argue with the mod about whether or not the conversation counts as one of the above topics, because the ability to shut down toxic discussions ranges beyond just these topics. Try not to drive people away from channels or the server in general.
