Daddy Issues

Covet: Felix was sitting at the counter, his dad sitting a couple seats down from him. Felix was pissed because he said he didn't want to meet up here, but then he'd gotten a call from his mother insisting that he go and eat with the guy. Felix was stuffing a taco into his mouth angrily, not exactly saying much towards Benjamin.
Alexithymiaa: -Steph was sitting next to Felix on the opposite side, a salad in front of her that she'd been too distracted by Benjamin to really spend a lot of time eating. She pushed her fork through some of the lettuce, rearranging things on her plate. She was intent on talking, but just as intent on giving him a fucking attitude. "What made you decide to stay in Portland?"-
Covet: Felix gave Steph a look, because she didn't have to engage him, but he was curious of the answer. // "I was hoping for a fresh start. Across the board. I know I don't have a lot of faith in me from everyone else, but I'm dedicated to making this work." He said. "I'm cooking here on the weekends, and I've picked up a mechanic job at one of the dealerships." Benjamin told her.
Alexithymiaa: "Interesting. There's lots of line cook and mechanic positions in most cities across the country." She said flatly as she stabbed a cherry tomato with her fork, putting it into her mouth. "Texas is pretty big on barbecue if you like barbecue."-
Covet: Felix furrowed his brow and stuffed another bite of taco into his mouth. // "You're right. But I can't exactly prove that I'm on the straight and narrow to those that matter if I'm in Texas and they are here, now can I?" He said looking over at her.
Alexithymiaa: "I can see where that might be a bit more difficult, but it's equally as difficult to prove to someone who has no interest in speaking with you." She spoke casually, setting her fork down on the edge of her plate and folding her hands together in front of her, leaning forward to look around Felix at Benjamin with a straight face.-
Covet: He looked over at Steph and he shrugged, because he had nothing to say right now. // Benjamin nodded his head. "The best things don't come easy. I've accepted this much and it doesn't make me any less determined to do right by my boy. I'd rather try my ass off than not at all."
Alexithymiaa: "Last I checked, you had another son on the other side of the country. Have you happened to make it over there yet?" She asked casually, pushing her hair back behind her ear. "Because it seems after this many years to be looking for redemption, it's much more likely you have ulterior motives given prior history. But that's just me and what do I know about dead beat parents?" She asked sarcastically, rolling her eyes.-
Covet: Felix nearly choked on his food as he looked at Steph, then took a drink of his juice sipping it back to help with the coughing. // "You quickly jump to the gun if you think I haven't talked to Sebastian. He at least makes it easier by letting me call him and talking to him." Benjamin said raising an eyebrow in their direction.
Alexithymiaa: "Didn't seem to have any qualms about showing up here, phone call or not. I don't see why if he was so welcoming you didn't start there. If anything, this was a stupid plan. If you really have your heart set on showing your family you're a different person, you would go to the person who is most likely to accept your apology first and find your way to weasel yourself in that way. Oh wait..." She trailed off, dramatically rubbing her chin. "You did." She set her jaw, looking at Felix and putting her hand on his arm because choking, but also she was pissed because fuck this guy.-
Covet: "Because he suggested that Dad start here because I'm the more difficult one." Felix said answering in a slightly raspy voice. // "That's exactly it. Seb and I are working through things. But I'm not trying to weasel in anymore than necessary. I don't really want to weasel in at all, I'm just putting myself in the position to be witnessed." Benjamin added.
Alexithymiaa: "I meant your mother, Arizona." She said in a small voice to him, her look still stony and set on Benjamin. "Well you've been witnessed so you can stop forcing yourself on him now. It's his choice whether or not he wants a relationship with you and you can't just demand he give you that opportunity. Don't you think you've done enough damage for one lifetime?"-
Covet: "They've both done it." He added then cleared his throat. "She's got a point, it's on me... and you and everyone else forcing you on me, isn't going to make me compliant to your wants. I get what you want. but it's not going to happen over night." Felix said cooly. // Benjamin nodded his head. "I'm sorry, I get that I've wronged him, but you only know the old me. So what gives you the right to throw that kind of agression at me?" He asked at Steph.
AlexithymiaaAlexithymiaa : "Who's to say the old you and the new you aren't the same?" She shot back quickly, narrowing her eyes and standing up which didn't do her any favors because she's a scrawny midget. "What gives me the right to throw that kind of aggression at you? Every single second he spent afraid of you gives me the right. You're not entitled to shit. If you gave a fuck about anyone, but yourself, you'd respect the fact that you burned this bridge years ago and that he has been so much better off without you." She set her jaw, her hands curling into fists at her sides, completely unbreaking from her stare.-

Alexithymiaa: Alexithymiaa: "Who's to say the old you and the new you aren't the same?" She shot back quickly, narrowing her eyes and standing up which didn't do her any favors because she's a scrawny midget. "What gives me the right to throw that kind of aggression at you? Covet: "Steph..." He said putting his hand on her knee giving it a squeeze. "I appreciate it.. I do, but this isn't your fight, love." He said looking at her with a soft look. // Benjamin just kind of curled into himself and sighed. " Do you want me to stop. Do you want me to go? Cause all you have to do is ask." He said to Felix because it was ultimately on him.
Alexithymiaa: -Her face softened when he reached out and put his hand on her, relaxing a bit and lowering herself back down into her chair. She was fairly satisfied with Benjamin's change in tone, crossing her arms and looking to Felix. "Whatever you want is the only thing that matters."-
Covet: "What I want is for there not to be this fighting. The only person who I want to be angry about this is me." He said. " And I don't even know if I want to be angry." Felix said with sigh. "I guess... we can work on something like once a week or something? But there is no multiple chances. you get this once. So don't fuck this up." // Benjamin just looked at him and nodded. "I appreciate the chance I am getting."
Alexithymiaa: -She pursed her lips, studying Felix's face because she wasn't sure if he was doing this for his own benefit or because he felt obligated. Brushing her hand over his arm, she quickly moved her hands to sign at him, assuming Benjamin didn't know ASL. 'Are you sure this is what you want?'-
Covet: Felix nodded then signed back 'I have to give him at least a small chance. That way it's justified when I tell him I told you so.' // "I will do right by you this time around. And I'll try to do right by you both." Benjamin added not realizing they were talking to each other.
Alexithymiaa: -She nodded to Felix, giving his hand a squeeze before looking to Benjamin. "The only person you need to concern yourself with doing right by, is Felix. I've been holding a grudge since I'm thirteen; I highly doubt my opinions are going to change. As long as Felix wants you here, everything is fine, but if you do anythign to change your mind, it'll be in your best interest to get the hell out of Portland." Definitely a threat, though not meant to sound like one.-
Covet: "I second that advice. Don't fuck it up Benjamin." Felix said to him. "We can do dinner. Here. Once a week. And... if you find you're struggling with the right decisions.. You can call. But only if you call me first, before doing anything stupid." // Benjamin nodded. "I will abide by all the rules. The support is more than I can ask for."
Alexithymiaa: -She blew out a deep breath, not at all excited for this new venture, but it is what it is. "We should really get back and let the dogs out. And I have to be up early to meet the Kittens in the studio to go over some tracking stuff. Are you ready?"-
Covet: "Yeah. We should. So, Goodnight Benjamin." Felix said getting up not givin him more more than that that as a goodbye. "C'mon, let's get home if you've got a busy day tomorrow." He said putting his arm around her shoulder, so that he could guide her out the door.
Alexithymiaa: -She slipped off her chair, looking at Benajmin directly in the face. "Bye." She met up with Felix around the other side of the stool, leaning in close to him and dropping her voice to a whisper. "I'm proud of you."-
Covet: "Thanks Red. I know you don't agree with my decision but thank you for supporting it." Felix said kissing the top of her head.
Alexithymiaa: "Well I'm a lot more petty than you are. Which is good because I hope you know how much I'm going to make his life a living hell when he screws up." She said quickly on their way out.-
Covet: "I'm not even going to try to save him. Your warning should be plenty enough." He said with a laugh as they walked out to go do the home things.
