- December 26
- [01:13] <NomDeMaitre> The year is 19XX!
- [01:18] <NomDeMaitre> The place is a Eastern European nation where everyone conveniently speaks English!
- [01:25] <NomDeMaitre> At any rate, let's get down to business
- [01:32] <NomDeNarrateur> The villa of Minister Rojmanovic is a a scenic little spot next to a glassy lake that is fed by the local river, the pride of the country-folk who run their farms on the plains about kilometres from the villa, which also happens to be around how far the nearest town is. It is the idyllic getaway, perfect for getting away from the public life and the intrigues of politics to enjoy the country...
- [01:32] <NomDeNarrateur> ...air and forget about the troubles of society. It is little wonder, then, that the Minister has chosen this particular getaway to celebrate the birthday of his famously doted wife.
- [01:36] <NomDeNarrateur> Having dabbled in business before he became a politician, the minister has the luxury of a modest fortune. The party is a grandiose affair, with every wing of the mansion packed with either the guests of the minister, or the staff who must wait of them. Every one of these guests could have considered a VIP; indeed, if something dreadful happened at this gathering entire government of the...
- [01:36] <NomDeNarrateur> ...region would be crippled for a month. The catering is tight, and the security moreso.
- [01:41] <NomDeNarrateur> Our story unfolds just as the guests are being ushered through the main gate, their parties checked and double checked against guest lists and run past rigid men in suits. This is a curiously important event. And who knows what sorts might sneak in for the sake of curiosity...
- [01:49] * [nfty]Vespa finally gets free of the insane security checks in order to deliver her Fizzy Fruit Seltzers to the mansion grounds. What a pain, especially with all these people teasing her about her... condition!
- [01:51] * [nfty]Vespa pops open a bottle in mild disgust and starts drinking as she proceeds to her delivery point and takes a swig.
- [01:52] * [Crix]Ashra Is already in the Villa kitchen, stacking ham and pineapples on a plate to be sent out to the dining room
- [01:52] * NgMui is the security. She takes a mental picture of the person with the... condition and continues to guard the gate assiduously.
- [01:52] * [Zem]Abigail has passed through security as well, and is basically thrown into the fray of dozens of chefs trying to make their best food they can upon pain of probably being fired and never working in any place better than a sleazy inn again.
- [01:52] * [Atai]Milly smiles graciously to another dignitary as 'she' pours them another chardonnay. This is probably his third, by now. Probably going to need to cut him off in a little while...
- [01:52] <[nfty]Vespa> . o (Ahh, always good to have a drink... well, I better find out where this 'You' person is supposed to be...)
- [01:53] * [nfty]Vespa pushes her cart to the side entrance, where no doubt more security checks will need to be gone through...
- [01:54] * [Rut]Laure begins her rounds, slipping between party guests with a tray of hors d'oeuvres in the main room.
- [01:55] <NomDeNarrateur> NgMui: Security duty is actually pretty droll. The guests are pretty all the same; overdressed, airheaded upper-crust sorts, too busy gossiping to really pay attention to you or your procedures. In fact, they hardly notice you; you might as well be a curiously shaped doorknob, and it would make no difference to them
- [01:57] * NgMui , in that case, guards less assiduously, but still keeps herself sharp through sheer contempt of the pampered shitstains that pass before her.
- [01:57] * [Zem]Abigail then jumps in, working on creating a Baked Alaska in between the guy making eclairs and the guy mixing wine coolers, as those are the least likely to impart bad flavors from their proximity.
- [01:58] <NomDeNarrateur> Vespa: You get your...drinks into the mansion without much fuss. This is, of course, a relative term. You had to wrangle at least two guards who thought you looked suspicious (and really, you do) and at least 3 others tried to confiscate your wares on the grounds of hazardous materials. Nothing came out of it. The place to go now would probably be the kitchen, through on servant's passages,...
- [01:58] <NomDeNarrateur> ...marked conveniently on a map you were given in order to make the deliveries
- [01:59] * [Crix]Ashra frowns in dismay as a pile of plates are dumped unceremoniously infront of her to fill up again "Is it time for Dessert yet!?" she asks no one in particular
- [01:59] * [Atai]Milly creates one of those wineglass-pyramid things where you pour the wine in the top, and keep pouring, and it flows out evenly into each glass below. It's kind fo neat to watch, and even more fun to pull off.
- [02:00] <[nfty]Vespa> Hmm, this is where... yes, I believe it is!
- [02:00] * [Rut]Laure gradually works her way out towards the gate, where the guard stands her vigil.
- [02:01] * [nfty]Vespa mumbles to herself as she quickly moves to where she is supposed to deliver her goods, and... meet up with her collegues, she presumes.
- [02:01] <NomDeNarrateur> Ashra: operations by the kitchen are overseen by the head chef, a loud, boisterous man with disproportionately large limbs who spends most of his time glaring, shouting, or shouting while glaring. This routine contributes to more than half the noise in the kitchen. You don't answer directly to him, however; one of his apprentices is in charge of aethetics. In contrast, he's a wispy sort,...
- [02:01] <NomDeNarrateur> ...prone to nodding and smiling a lot. Considering his master, it' easy to imagine why.
- [02:03] * [Rut]Laure approaches NgMui. She smiles, her tone jovial.
- [02:03] <NomDeNarrateur> Milly: Many of the guests appreciate your displays. Even more appreciate your fine drinks. The party has hardly gotten started though, and you know that in 10 minutes or so the place will be swamped. No sign of the Minister or his wife yet; he may be at the gate, greeting the particularly important, or perhaps still in his room preparing an address.
- [02:03] <[Rut]Laure> Pardon me. You seem rather tense. Is there any problem?
- [02:04] * NgMui , arms crossed, peers down on Laure. She blinks for a second and resumes her bored-and-probably-mildly-ticked-security-person stare.
- [02:04] <NgMui> None.
- [02:04] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: as you are
- [02:07] * [Zem]Abigail continues cooking, trying not to stand out as she sets the ice cream and pastry confection merribly ablaze.
- [02:08] <NgMui> Wait... You're not looking for anybody, are you?
- [02:08] <NomDeNarrateur> Abigail: you are also work in the kitchen, and have the misfortune of answering directly to the head chef. His demands for perfection will likely get harder to please as the day gets longer. This is, however, the busiest part of the day; in a while you should expect new assignments from the chef
- [02:09] * [nfty]Vespa strolls into the kitchen. "Delivery! Cases of flavored drinks here"
- [02:10] * [Crix]Ashra is competely oblivious to any burning smells in the kitchen, too busy stacking improbably large amounts of rice and greenbeans into a large serving bowl
- [02:10] * [Rut]Laure tilts her head slightly at the guard. She steals a glance at the crowd briefly before again smiling and continuing the chatter undeterred.
- [02:10] * [Zem]Abigail puts out the flaming dessert by covering it, passes it to a waiter, and works on the next task, her grace under fire keeping her from looking as frenzied as everyone else.
- [02:11] <[Rut]Laure> ... They're quite the difficult bunch, aren't they? And with the security measures... Excuse me for saying this, but I don't envy you, ma'am.
- [02:12] * [Rut]Laure shrugs and contemplates her tray.
- [02:12] <NomDeNarrateur> Vespa, Abigal, Ashra: You can feel the air starting to coalesce, centred around the head chef...
- [02:14] <NomDeNarrateur> Monsieur L'Flore: "YOU'RE LATE!"
- [02:14] * [Crix]Ashra looks up in utter confusion and glances towards the head chef
- [02:14] <[Rut]Laure> It must be hard on you-- Hm, almost out of food. Hey, I'm going to return to the kitchen shortly. Can I get you a cocktail? Non-alcoholic, of course. I'm sure no one would mind.
- [02:14] * [Zem]Abigail ignores the fury and frenzy, and starts folding some crepes.
- [02:15] * [nfty]Vespa recoils backwards noticably before recovering her composure.
- [02:15] <NomDeNarrateur> "tHEY WERE DUE 7 MINUTES AGO! YOU IMBECILE! DO YOU NOT KNOW WHAT SUCH DELAY CAN DO TO MY ART?!"
- [02:16] <NgMui> ...No thanks.
- [02:17] <[nfty]Vespa> I -- well, blame those people harrasing everyone at the entrances! I was well on my way of being on time before I ran into those ... those numbskulls!
- [02:18] * [Crix]Ashra shuffles past the head chef and grabs a crate of seltzer to start putting in pitches, as Ashra leaves she shoots a glance of pity towards Vespa
- [02:19] <[Rut]Laure> Of course, ma'am. Oh, but I must get back to serving the guests. You're certain there's nothing I can get you?
- [02:19] <NomDeNarrateur> "Silence! Your gibbering only distracts my concentration. My art needs the utmost quiet focus!"
- [02:19] <NomDeNarrateur> It is surprising how men like the head chef have no sense of irony whatsoever
- [02:20] * [Atai]Millie can faintly hear the head chef losing his shit. She is very, very happy to be working the bar.
- [02:21] * [Atai]Millie flashes another smile to some bureaucrat and his wife as she pours them both a glass of merlot
- [02:21] <NomDeNarrateur> "Make yourself useful! It will not make up for your disgusting tardiness, but your presence is besmirching my oxygen."
- [02:22] <NgMui> Certain.
- [02:22] <NomDeNarrateur> Vespa: the head chef points to some empty glasses and unused trays, then returns to the important business of looking displeased at everything around him
- [02:22] * [Zem]Abigail winces in sympathy for another chef as the head chef's bellowing drops his souffle.
- [02:23] * [nfty]Vespa pauses, then picks up the tray and another bottle of her seltzer and walks off with a huff.
- [02:23] * [Rut]Laure nods, staying chipper.
- [02:24] <[Rut]Laure> Well, it was a pleasure speaking to you, miss...?
- [02:25] <NomDeNarrateur> Abigal, Vespa, Ashra: Monsieur L'Flore seems only capable of communicating in bestial roars now. His unfortunate target wither much like his ruined dessert
- [02:26] <[nfty]Vespa> . o ( I kind of wish I was set up to deal with a lout like him... oh well. Hmm, maybe later I'll fix something, but... right now I need to find this 'you' person.)
- [02:27] <[Crix]Ashra> If this chef really wants to show off he should practice throwing kitchen knives...
- [02:27] * [Crix]Ashra rolls her eyes and sits on a nearby stool taking a break while the overseer is busy
- [02:28] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: As you were chatting (or at least exercising your monosyllables), the line of guests have dried up considerably. In fact, you can almost see the end by now
- [02:29] <[Zem]Abigail> . o O ( I need to get out of here and find my contact. ) She looks over and sees eclair person next to her has been replaced by a chef chopping up bread.
- [02:30] <NgMui> Hmm. Actually...
- [02:30] <NomDeNarrateur> As the tail approaches, so does one guest much less generic than the sheep who have been filing past. She is undeniably ethnically Asian, dressed in her native garb, and she an entourage of her own.
- [02:31] <NomDeNarrateur> Or rather, she lacks an entourage of her ow
- [02:31] <NomDeNarrateur> n
- [02:31] <NgMui> ...Hold up a second.
- [02:31] <[Rut]Laure> ~?
- [02:34] * NgMui parts with Laure to greet the ethnically Asian guest, who will henceforth be referred to as Shi Xue. If Shi Xue's undeniable ethnicity is also undeniably Chinese, she greets her in a traditional ethical and undeniable manner.
- [02:36] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: Alias Shi Xue catches you approaching her, and gives you a smile before immediately hiding it behind her fan, in that pretentiously elegant sort of way
- [02:38] * NgMui resists grinding her teeth
- [02:39] <NomDeNarrateur> "Does the day find you well, sister?" she says in greeting, with only a hint of a Chinese accent.
- [02:41] <NgMui> Yes, though I believe the last sunbird has long since departed. Is there anything I can help you with?
- [02:42] * [Atai]Millie also wonders where the hell her contact is, but assumes that, like everyone else so far, they will swing by the drinks table sooner or later. But if not, that's fine, too. There are other ways.
- [02:44] <NomDeNarrateur> The Chineses guest aka Shi Xue chuckles. "I am here for the party, and perhaps am a guest. There are many things you can help me with."
- [02:44] * [Rut]Laure is standing roughly behind the guard. For a brief instant, her smile flickers.
- [02:47] <NgMui> I see. What can I do for you?
- [02:48] <NomDeNarrateur> "For now, only entry. I am on your list, am I not? Registered as Yoo Ni?"
- [02:49] * NgMui nods, and checks a a clipboard thingie.
- [02:49] <NomDeNarrateur> [The artist formerly known as Shi Xue attempts to peer over at the guest list ]
- [02:50] * NgMui quickly snaps it out of view and answers.
- [02:51] <NomDeNarrateur> "Dear, am I not there? Perhaps they misspelt it. You know how they are with our tongue. Perhaps under 'U'?"
- [02:52] <NgMui> Yes, Yoo Ni, right here.
- [02:52] * [Crix]Ashra pushes out a cart filled with all sorts of various appetizers such as cheeses, dips, crackers into the lounge
- [02:53] <NgMui> I have some questions for you before I let you in, though...
- [02:53] * NgMui turns around to Laure and asks,
- [02:53] <NomDeNarrateur> "Very well. I am aware of such procedures, and have nothing to hide from you."
- [02:54] <NgMui> Could you get our guest something? This should be quick.
- [02:55] <NomDeNarrateur> Vespa, Abigail, Ahsra: The party is approaching peak capacity. Everyone is needed on the floor.
- [02:56] * [nfty]Vespa is hurrying with her cart, with plenty of glasses and bottles of cool seltzer to pour...
- [02:57] * [Zem]Abigail finishes her crepes and carries them out of the kitchen herself. . o O ( Good chance for me to mingle... )
- [02:58] <NomDeNarrateur> Millie: One particular gentleman, approaches the bar. It's hard to tell if he's looking for a drink, as he seems to be absentmindedly looking around for...something. His course is clear though; straight towards the bar, which is where he stops.
- [02:59] * [Atai]Millie smiles at him.
- [02:59] <[Atai]Millie> Good evening, sir.
- [02:59] <[Atai]Millie> May I help you with something?
- [03:00] * [Crix]Ashra makes sure all there are plenty of forks, knives, spoons and napkins are set up on the food tables in the main party rooms
- [03:01] <NomDeNarrateur> Man: "You certainly may. But it's a busy night, no? I doubt you have much time to indulge me"
- [03:02] <[Rut]Laure> Hm? Oh, certainly. Excuse me.
- [03:06] * [Rut]Laure spins on her heels and heads for the bar. Once safely turned away from the guard, her cheerful demeanor swiftly melts.
- [03:06] <[Atai]Millie> Aha, try me, sir. We aim to please.
- [03:06] <[Atai]Millie> If I can't, I can at least show you to someone who can.
- [03:06] * [nfty]Vespa rolls around the floor by the bar, unable to help herself from sampling some of her wares again. "Ahh, this is great! Who wants a glass?"
- [03:06] <[Atai]Millie> What is it you need? A special cocktail? Something mixed just right?
- [03:07] * NgMui nods, and brings Yoo to an empty guard station.
- [03:08] <NomDeNarrateur> Man: "Just company. As you can see, I lack a partner on this fine night. A tragedy."
- [03:09] <NgMui> So, how can I help you, miss Yoo Ni?
- [03:10] <NomDeNarrateur> Yoo (aka Shu Xie aka artist formerly known as Shu Xue): "My my, your security is very tight indeed."
- [03:10] <NomDeNarrateur> Yoo Ni admires the guardhouse, but takes care not to touch anything
- [03:11] * [Atai]Millie gets a little worried about this guy. Is he drunk? He doesn't sound like it, though.
- [03:11] <NomDeNarrateur> She doesn't seem to have heard the question, or is perhaps ignoring you
- [03:12] <[Atai]Millie> Mm... it is indeed, sir. I know how it can be.
- [03:13] * [Atai]Millie goes for a slightly sympathetic, slightly non-commital response.
- [03:13] <NomDeNarrateur> Man: "And what's up with this party? Isn't it horribly odd?"
- [03:14] * [Rut]Laure approaches the bar, interrupting the conversation.
- [03:14] * NgMui wonders if maybe she has the wrong person.
- [03:14] <[Rut]Laure> Excuse me. I need two cocktails. One non-alcoholic.
- [03:15] <NomDeNarrateur> Yoo (etc etc): "With security so tight, it must be hard getting anything done. Do you have such troubles?"
- [03:15] <[Crix]Ashra> With the food all out I guess I can maybe enjoy myself for the rest of the party..
- [03:17] <[Atai]Millie> ...Odd how, sir?
- [03:17] * [Atai]Millie wasn't expecting that, but drunkenness still isn't ruled out.
- [03:17] <NomDeNarrateur> Ashra, Vespa, Abigail (who is not here): you notice that the atmosphere is a bit off for a party. The gossip is heavy, hushed, and every eye seems to be on everyone else's.
- [03:17] * [Atai]Millie mixes up Laure's cocktails as she speaks to the man, and hands them over with a smile.
- [03:18] <NgMui> I suppose so. However, something can be done about that...
- [03:18] <[Atai]Millie> There you go, miss.
- [03:18] <[Crix]Ashra> This is terrible, where is the band!
- [03:18] * NgMui is growing impatient with this overly vague conversation.
- [03:18] <NomDeNarrateur> Man: "Just odd! It's supposed to be, what, a birthday party, right? Why are all these fellows here?"
- [03:19] * [Rut]Laure just nods and leaves without a word. Which way did those two go...
- [03:19] <NomDeNarrateur> Man: "Look, him! Him over there! That's Ukraine minister of finance! And that's the health minister! Rojmanovic sure gets around a lot, Or perhaps his wife does."
- [03:21] * [Atai]Millie looks around, and nods slightly. She'd been told about the possible true purpose of the 'birthday,' but if other people are noticing it, then they must not be caring about appearances, much. That, or ...hmm.
- [03:21] * [Crix]Ashra overhears the idle talk and goes to sort things out "Listen, you're a GUEST here, so try not to just go blabbering about like you're at the local gossip corner"
- [03:22] <[Atai]Millie> It does seem a little strange, I suppose. It could just be that his wife has lots of friends?
- [03:22] * [Atai]Millie shrugs.
- [03:22] <NomDeNarrateur> Yoo: "I imagine something can. It's difficult though. Especially if you're just a security guard. I can imagine the kind of help you'll need."
- [03:23] <[Atai]Millie> I'm just a bartender, sir.
- [03:23] <NomDeNarrateur> Man: "Eh? That's boring. Don't you have a mind for intrigue at all?"
- [03:23] * NgMui sighs.
- [03:23] * [nfty]Vespa wonders why so few people want to try her new drink flavors. Is there just nobody thirsty at all...?
- [03:24] * [Atai]Millie gives him a small smile.
- [03:25] <NgMui> What kind of help would I need...?
- [03:25] <NomDeNarrateur> Vespa: Everyone seems distracted, actually. They're waiting. For something. You can't tell what, but the atmosphere is most pregnant.
- [03:25] <[Atai]Millie> Not on what they're paying me, sir.
- [03:26] <[Atai]Millie> I'd be careful of what you say.
- [03:27] * [nfty]Vespa shrugs and sips some more of her drink.
- [03:27] <NomDeNarrateur> Yoo: "Oh, I wouldn't know. It's your job, after all. I'm just being friendly. Maybe helpful. As you are too, I'm sure. I'll definitely look for you first if help is needed."
- [03:28] <NomDeNarrateur> Yoo smiles again...and is that a wink?
- [03:29] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: You find the guardhouse without much trouble. You had to go through a number of checks there before being allowed in, after all
- [03:29] * NgMui ...slowly starts to nod. This is irritating.
- [03:30] * [Rut]Laure arrives at the guardhouse. She knocks once, quickly, then barges in without giving time to answer.
- [03:30] <NomDeNarrateur> Man: "Still wish to know, you know? Definitely very interesting, for all sorts of reasons."
- [03:30] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: Intruder alert!
- [03:30] <NgMui> Right... -!?
- [03:31] <[Rut]Laure> Ah, there you are! I had almost lost you two. I have your drinks~
- [03:33] * [Atai]Millie thinks that this guy is maybe just a bit persistent. He isn't asking her out, making an ass of himself, or making a scene.
- [03:33] <[Atai]Millie> ...Oh?
- [03:34] * [Atai]Millie sounds uninterestedly interested.
- [03:34] * [Crix]Ashra pulls herself up to the bar and sits as the party guests seem to be ignoring it for the most part
- [03:35] <NomDeNarrateur> Man: "Call it a professional hobby. Such things are common in the world of politics."
- [03:35] * NgMui seizes Laure's neck, her arm darting back to her like a viper and squeezes over her windpipe. She holds her for a moment, realizes who she is, and drops her to the ground.
- [03:36] <[Atai]Millie> ...Ah.
- [03:36] * [Rut]Laure falls to her knees, gasping for breath, yet somehow keeping the drinks balanced on her tray.
- [03:36] <NomDeNarrateur> Yoo hasn't moved at all, and is seemingly unphased. "Ah, thank you for the drinks. You are very helpful as well."
- [03:36] * [Rut]Laure coughs.
- [03:36] <[Atai]Millie> I've found noticing things comes sort of natural. Never seemed like much of a hobby.
- [03:36] * [Atai]Millie pauses, reflecting.
- [03:36] * [nfty]Vespa sighs and takes a seat at the bar. "This sucks..."
- [03:36] <NomDeNarrateur> She takes one from the tray, ignoring the spluttering Laure, and proceeds into the villa
- [03:37] <NgMui> ...Oops. I cry your pardon. You surprised me.
- [03:37] <[Rut]Laure> F-forgive me if I've... *choke* interrupted anything.
- [03:37] <[Atai]Millie> I once went to a town in France where they juggled baby geese as a hobby.
- [03:37] <[Rut]Laure> L-let me just... get my bearings...
- [03:37] <[Atai]Millie> ...They were rather strange.
- [03:37] * [Rut]Laure sets the tray down for a moment.
- [03:37] <[Atai]Millie> Just a moment, if you will.
- [03:37] * [Atai]Millie goes over to the newcomer.
- [03:38] <[Atai]Millie> Can I get you something?
- [03:38] <[Crix]Ashra> No, I'm working here...
- [03:39] <[Atai]Millie> Oh. All right, then.
- [03:39] <NomDeNarrateur> Yoo: "You two can play alone? Another time, then."
- [03:39] * [Atai]Millie smiles and moves back over to the man.
- [03:40] <NomDeNarrateur> Man: "Baby gesse. You must have been around."
- [03:40] <[Crix]Ashra> Or at least that is something I would normally be doing, but this is the worst party since they invited the Tanar'ri over to play pool with the Bhateul
- [03:41] <[Crix]Ashra> ah, but I'm just Reminiscing
- [03:42] <NomDeNarrateur> The man peers curiously at Ashra "...And the staff. I don't think I've seem them around before."
- [03:43] * [Crix]Ashra turns to look at the man "Well you always need extra help during a party"
- [03:43] <[Atai]Millie> I was visiting some relatives in the area, and stopped there on the way.
- [03:43] <[Atai]Millie> And she pretty much has it right.
- [03:43] <[Atai]Millie> You yourself said this was an unusually large party.
- [03:43] <NomDeNarrateur> [Laure attempts to spike the drinks, but can't find a good opportunity to do so without Ng Mui noticing. Nothing much comes out of it.]
- [03:43] <[Atai]Millie> an unusually large number of staff is needed.
- [03:44] <NgMui> ...Hmph. Another time.
- [03:45] <NomDeNarrateur> Man: : "You are the boring sort. That's perfect."
- [03:46] * [Atai]Millie blinks.
- [03:46] <[Atai]Millie> Her or me?
- [03:46] <[Crix]Ashra> You won't get far in life with complements like that
- [03:47] <NomDeNarrateur> "I meant no offence, of course."
- [03:48] <[Crix]Ashra> You need something more majestic like "Your Normalcy is stunning, I could live day after day doing the same things with you"
- [03:49] <NomDeNarrateur> "Ha ha, I'll keep that in mind. I'm sure what you actually do is very interesting though."
- [03:49] <NomDeNarrateur> The man stands up, and makes to leave, but not before handing Millie his card
- [03:50] <NomDeNarrateur> "The name's Lee. Miles Lee. if you get sick of bartending, look me up."
- [03:50] * [Atai]Millie takes the card, and looks at it.
- [03:51] * [Atai]Millie flashes him a grin, and pockets it.
- [03:51] <[Crix]Ashra> hey don't leave me out of the loop here
- [03:51] <[Atai]Millie> I'll be sure to do that, sir.
- [03:52] <[Rut]Laure> Uh... I'll just *cough* leave these here. Enjoy...
- [03:52] * [Rut]Laure exits.
- [03:52] <NomDeNarrateur> The man gives Ashra a gesture of apology
- [03:52] <NomDeNarrateur> "Your path lies elsewhere, I'm sure. Good night to you too."
- [03:53] <NomDeNarrateur> And...off he goes
- [03:53] * [Crix]Ashra pouts and turns back to the bar
- [03:53] * NgMui sets the tray aside.
- [03:53] <NgMui> Is that all, then?
- [03:54] * [Rut]Laure , once safely out of sight, noiselessly takes cover around the corner of the guardhouse.
- [03:56] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: You don't get any time alone, A man you recognise as the chief of security for this event barges in, looking for his staff
- [03:56] * [Crix]Ashra takes a paper napkin and folds it into a small triangle then attempts to flick it at Millie
- [03:57] <NomDeNarrateur> Security Chief: "What are you still doing in? We need to inside. Over coverage is horrible."
- [04:01] <NgMui> Yes, of course.
- [04:02] * NgMui glances back at Yoo.
- [04:03] <NomDeNarrateur> Yoo, in amidst your chaos, has slipped away
- [04:03] <NgMui> ?
- [04:03] <NgMui> ...
- [04:05] * NgMui sighs, closes up the shack, and heads out to the manor proper. This business is one heck of a headache...
- [04:07] * [Rut]Laure peeks inside, seeing no indication of the Oriental woman. She adjusts her glasses and follows the guard, staying to the shadows.
- [04:09] <NomDeNarrateur> Everyone: inside the villa, the chatter is dying down in sporadic patches. It seems that the wait it almost over. Whatever it was about...
- [04:10] <[Crix]Ashra> Oh boy, maybe the cake is coming!
- [04:12] * [nfty]Vespa looks up after almost nodding off. Something going on...?
- [04:13] <NomDeNarrateur> [What is going on? Who are these strange people who can speak in technicolour? How old exactly is the Minister's wife? Stay tuned for the next session.]

- [00:07] <[Atai]Millie> [ :< ]
- [00:08] <NomDeNarrateur> [Anyways: Ng Mui has been advised with really vague innuendo to enter to mansion, and perhaps to watch out for security]
- [00:08] <[Crix]Ashra> [What is the meidonet version of dota]
- [00:08] <NomDeNarrateur> [Laure was following Ng Mui for some increasingly suspicious reason]
- [00:09] <NomDeNarrateur> [Ashra needs to return to the kitchen for intensive preparations]
- [00:10] <NomDeNarrateur> [Millie was handed a plain looking business card, though on the back is written "Don't forget to collect a tip"]
- [00:11] <NomDeNarrateur> The guests hush, paused in equal parts anticipation and politeness
- [00:13] <NomDeNarrateur> From the top of the main stairwell descends Minister Rojmanovic, wife in hand, wearing finery that befits the occasion
- [00:14] * [Atai]Millie mentally calculates how much she could get for all of said finery.
- [00:15] <NomDeNarrateur> Halfway down, the Minister makes a premeditated stop, puffing himself up for what is probably a long winded and shallow speech of welcome or somesuch. The following has been editted liberally for everyone's sanity]
- [00:17] <NomDeNarrateur> Minister: Welcome, welcome, welcome everybody!"
- [00:17] <NomDeNarrateur> (Yes, even in the edited version there are 3 'welcome's)
- [00:18] * NgMui doesn't feel 'welcome'. Not even once.
- [00:18] * [Crix]Ashra rolls her eyes in disgust
- [00:19] <NomDeNarrateur> Minister: "Thank you, all, for coming tonight. For the sake of my beautiful wife I have prepared both food and entertainment aplenty. This is a night of enjoyment, so please, enjoy!"
- [00:21] <NomDeNarrateur> The minister decorates his speech with a flat-pitched, highly diplomatic laugh, and retires upstairs for a more private dinner with closer acquaintances. Or at least that's what has been advertised
- [00:22] * NgMui watches out for security. That being the most prominent detail in her mission.
- [00:22] <[Atai]Millie> What a moving piece of useless wordage.
- [00:22] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui, Millie, Ashra, Laure: You all see several other bigwig types slink away surreptitiously as well. Not all of them seem the celebratory sort
- [00:22] * [Atai]Millie dabs at her eyes with a handkerchief.
- [00:23] <[Atai]Millie> ...Hmm.
- [00:23] <[Crix]Ashra> I don't have time for this the chef is going to strangle me.
- [00:23] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: You notice that the perimetre of the hall, especially near the entrances, have had a noticeable increase in sunglasses. Also, apish looking men wearing those sunglasses.
- [00:23] * [Crix]Ashra runs off into the kitchen to see what is required now
- [00:24] <NomDeNarrateur> Ashra: the kitchen is conspicuously empty, save for one man. A big man. The very loud one.
- [00:25] <[Crix]Ashra> Oh uh hi you needed me right?
- [00:26] <NomDeNarrateur> Loud Head Chef: YOU'RE LATE!
- [00:26] * [Rut]Laure looks left to right, then begins to shift through the party guests, in the direction where the few bigwigs just left the room.
- [00:27] * [Atai]Millie is still serving drinks to any that need drinkery
- [00:27] <[Crix]Ashra> Well, am I at least fashionably late?
- [00:27] <NomDeNarrateur> Funnily enough, the head chef does not look amused
- [00:28] <NomDeNarrateur> Unamused Chef: "Bah, at least you are here. You will have to do."
- [00:28] * [Crix]Ashra tries not to make eye contact "heh heh...."
- [00:30] <NomDeNarrateur> Head Chef: "You have a delivery to make. Or at least, will. Once the goods are prepared."
- [00:31] * [Atai]Millie begins mixing up new cocktails, just for fun.
- [00:31] <[Crix]Ashra> What are these, goods?
- [00:31] * NgMui , still at a loss, wanders around the manor in hopes of something catching her eye or finding the bitch she spoke with earlier.
- [00:31] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui, Millie, Laure: surely enough, important guests are disappearing upstairs.
- [00:32] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: as you follow them, you see they have all slipped, separately, into one of the minister's private conference rooms
- [00:33] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui, Millie: the crowd is dispersing now. In fact, it has gotten rather quiet in the hall.
- [00:33] * NgMui , seeing no better option, follows upstairs
- [00:33] <NomDeNarrateur> Millie: you see that the man who you chatted with has left
- [00:34] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: from the higher vantage point you see the Chinese woman by herself in a corner
- ---
- For the rest of the story of Ng Mui and Laure, skip down. We now return to your scheduled cake maids
- ---
- [00:36] * [Atai]Millie really hopes her contact will show up soon.
- [00:36] * NgMui looks around once again. Would we be alone if I spoke to her?
- [00:36] <NomDeNarrateur> Head chef: "I am just a chef, the best one this side of Europe, but only a chef, so I will make it quick and obvious. You are here for documents, yes?
- [00:37] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: You can assured of relative aloneness (is that a word), so long as you don't draw much attention to yourself
- [00:38] * NgMui reminds herself to make sure to kill her silently and approaches
- [00:38] <[Crix]Ashra> Yes, I always wanted a strawberry shortcake recipe
- [00:39] <[Crix]Ashra> With fruit in the crust too!
- [00:41] <NomDeNarrateur> Head Chef: "The less I know of the details, the better. Whatever you wish to do, you will need transportation. The guards are screening all who come in and out. Once the goods are delivered here, you will need to devise an exit."
- [00:42] <[Crix]Ashra> Everyone knows the best place to hide sensitive documents is in leftovers!
- [00:42] <[Crix]Ashra> Until you get hungry....
- [00:43] <NomDeNarrateur> "No, no, tell me nothing your imbecile! I want my hands clean of your tomfoollery. Just take this to the bar. Until then I have nothing to say to you."
- [00:44] <NomDeNarrateur> Ashra: the head chef hands you what seems to be an order from a wine list.
- [00:44] <[Crix]Ashra> Oh boy I love a good rose~
- [00:45] * [Crix]Ashra plucks the list from his hand
- [00:50] * [Crix]Ashra reads the wine sheet while walking out towards the bar, with a small vanilla cake in the other hand
- [00:51] <NomDeNarrateur> Ashra: the wine list looks awfully like a wine list. Disguised as a wine list.
- [00:53] <[Crix]Ashra> This isn't very scandalous at all
- [00:54] * [Crix]Ashra sees the bartender Millie "Hey it's dangerous to mix drinks alone, take this" Ashra hands her the winelist
- [00:57] * [Atai]Millie pauses in the middle of creating a Domess Tick (one part Dom Perignon, two parts Guiness, one part lemon juice), and smiles.
- [00:57] <[Atai]Millie> Got an order for me, have ya? Thank you, thank you, much and all. What've we got here...?
- [00:57] * [Atai]Millie looks at the list after takign it, and reads it over.
- [00:58] <NomDeNarrateur> Millie: there is a larger order for a variety of drinks, to be delivered to the second floor conference room
- [01:01] <[Atai]Millie> Mm-hmm-hmm-hmm.
- [01:01] <[Atai]Millie> I'll get on this right away. Thanks so much for running it on down here.
- [01:02] <[Crix]Ashra> I don't have anything else to do right now anyway.
- [01:03] * [Crix]Ashra chews on a forkfull of her small vanilla cake.
- [01:03] * [Atai]Millie pulls over a large rolling bar and begins loading on the necessary liquors and liqueurs that she will need to add to the ones already inside it.
- [01:08] * [Atai]Millie whistles a jazz number while she works.
- [01:09] <[Crix]Ashra> So what do you drink in your free time?
- [01:10] <[Atai]Millie> Generally God's own honest water.
- [01:10] * [Atai]Millie hunts down an elusive bottle of peppermint Schnapps
- [01:13] <[Crix]Ashra> Ah, water is so mundane. Sparkling cider is much better.
- [01:14] * [Atai]Millie nods. Ah, there it is.
- [01:14] * [Atai]Millie puts it on the cart, and thinks for a moment before shrugging, and ducking back down again.
- [01:15] <[Atai]Millie> ...Sometimes I like a glass of orange juice.
- [01:15] * [Atai]Millie pokes her head up.
- [01:16] <[Atai]Millie> Hey, if you're not doing anything, go get me some extra cocktail napkins and toothpicks from the other table over there, would you? I'm about out.
- [01:17] * [Atai]Millie nudges with her head at the dessert section a few tables down.
- [01:17] <[Crix]Ashra> Psh what do I look like some servant!
- [01:17] * [Crix]Ashra looks down "Oh right" scuttles off
- [01:19] * [Atai]Millie looks around for some James Harbor rum.
- [01:19] * [Crix]Ashra pick ups a box of toothpicks and little white napkins with various pieces of fruit imprinted upon them. "How tacky.."
- [01:19] <[Atai]Millie> I know you were here a minute ago, you bastard...
- [01:23] * [Crix]Ashra places the party supplies on the bar, then takes of of the small napkins and folds it into a little paper hat
- [01:26] * [Atai]Millie locates it, stands back up, sees the hat, sees the napkins and toothpicks, and nods approvingly.
- [01:26] <[Atai]Millie> Very good feet and quick hands you have indeed, you do. Thanks so kindly and ever so grateful.
- [01:27] <[Crix]Ashra> Psh, you'll never make it in nobility with that kind of flattery.
- [01:29] <[Atai]Millie> Nobility? I'll have you know I'm descended from the great-grandmother of the Queen of America on my uncle's side.
- [01:29] * [Atai]Millie looks slightly put out as she continues to work.
- [01:30] <[Crix]Ashra> Queen of America? I've never been there, it sounds exciting.
- [01:32] <[Atai]Millie> It is a fabulous place. They use gold as a paving stone there, did you know? And everyone there dreams the same dream. It is impossible for them to dream anything else at night.
- [01:33] <[Atai]Millie> Enormous fire-wielding women guard its harbors and passes judgment on all who would seek entry.
- [01:34] <[Crix]Ashra> Amazing, back where I lived they had roads paved in bones and... hey wait, that doesn't make sense at all!
- [01:35] <[Crix]Ashra> Who would give fire wielders the job to guard a harbor!
- [01:39] <[Atai]Millie> Americans, who else?
- [01:40] <[Crix]Ashra> I see, so Americans are stupid, right?
- [01:40] <[Atai]Millie> More insane than stupid.
- [01:40] <[Atai]Millie> But they mean well.
- [01:40] * [Atai]Millie loads the last bottle on, and shuts the doors in the cabinet on the side of the bar.
- [01:41] <[Atai]Millie> Well, that seems to be the very very last of it. Thank you again kindly muchly for everything and all.
- [01:44] <[Atai]Millie> ...Hmm.
- [01:44] * [Atai]Millie looks back at the list.
- [01:44] <[Crix]Ashra> Alright...
- [01:45] <[Atai]Millie> You're not doing anything anyway, so come along with me.
- [01:45] <[Atai]Millie> I could use the extra lackeyhands around, and you seem pleasantly durable.
- [01:45] <[Crix]Ashra> Adventure!
- [01:45] <[Atai]Millie> Right?
- [01:45] <[Atai]Millie> Of course you are.
- [01:45] * [Crix]Ashra beams with happiness
- [01:46] * [Atai]Millie sets off, pushing the heavy cart along towards the elevator to the upper floor, whistling another jazz tune by those clever American darkies.
- [01:48] * [Crix]Ashra follows along with the box of cocktail napkins
- [01:58] <NomDeNarrateur> You two eventually find your way to the upper floor. Only a large set of double doors block you from the conference room.
- [01:59] <[Crix]Ashra> Should we knock? Or pretend we belong in there?
- [02:13] <NomDeNarrateur> [And thus we end at a dramatic moment. Or maybe they will just stand outside forever, enjoying the view. Who know? Hopefully we will, next time]
- ---
- The promised Asian and espionage go here
- ---
- [00:47] <NomDeNarrateur> Chinese Woman: "Why hello, Ms Guard. How may I help you? Or could you help me?"
- [00:48] * NgMui inhales and exhales deeply, checking over her shoulder and crossing her arms.
- [00:49] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: from your hiding spot, you hear footsteps coming from behind you.
- [00:49] <NgMui> Miss Yoo. I am not above shattering your ribcage here in the event that you continue to be incoherent. That aside, do you have a real objective for me?
- [00:52] <NomDeNarrateur> Yoo: "Do you not know the proverb about patience? Good things come to those who wait."
- [00:52] * [Rut]Laure stays quiet. She assumes a natural stance -- still hiding, but not overly suspicious, were she to be seen. She checks the footsteps.
- [00:52] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: they are coming closer
- [00:53] <NgMui> And inaction is an action all of its own. I won't ask you again.
- [00:56] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: the person owning these footsteps seems to be hesitating as s/he goes, almost as if...looking for something
- [00:57] <NomDeNarrateur> Yoo: "You compromise much with your haste. But this is as good a time as any for a detailed talk."
- [00:57] <NomDeNarrateur> That, and perhaps she values her ribs
- [00:58] <NgMui> I'm listening.
- [01:00] <NomDeNarrateur> "As you no doubt have noticed, security for this party is unusually tight. I am sure management has briefed you to some extent on the elaborate procedures. There is very little chance for the goods to leave."
- [01:02] <NgMui> Hmm... I see. Is there a separate element in place to secure these goods?
- [01:02] <NomDeNarrateur> "A problem no doubt easily remedied by your...special skills, but first there is another agent you really should have a chat with. In fact, you met each other just a bit earlier, but seems to have disappeared. She is...working from a different direction, so to speak, but I'm sure your goals align somewhere in the end."
- [01:04] * NgMui has trouble remembering meeting anybody in particular, but then recalls that girl she accidentally choked. Hmm, that makes sense.
- [01:06] <NgMui> Alright. Is there anyone else I should be aware of? Where will you be during all this?
- [01:06] * [Rut]Laure approaches the man unawares. Once behind him, she stands at her full height again. She subtly folds her wrist in, fingers along the hem of her sleeve.
- [01:06] <[Rut]Laure> ... Excuse me. Are you lost?
- [01:07] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: the man does not look surprised that there is a strange woman behind him at all. Perhaps he is used to these things
- [01:07] <NomDeNarrateur> Totally Unsuspicious man:
- [01:08] <NomDeNarrateur> "Not at all."
- [01:09] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: You notice that the man is holding quite a large parcel. Or was, because he leaves it on a handy alcove without paying you much heed. Once done, he spins a perfect 180 degrees on his heels, and strides back in the opposite direction
- [01:09] * [Rut]Laure smiles.
- [01:11] <NomDeNarrateur> Yoo: Me? I won't be here at all. Be sure you remember that detail should anyone ask you questions afterwards."
- [01:13] <NgMui> Is that all?
- [01:14] <NomDeNarrateur> "From me, at least. I am open to questions, but I may not have many answers."
- [01:15] <NgMui> Aside from security, are there any known elements working against us?
- [01:16] * [Rut]Laure takes the package, glancing around quickly once more before returning to the main room.
- [01:17] <NomDeNarrateur> "Now that is a -good- question, worthy of a good answer. For now, legitimate authority is the only thing standing in your way, but cabinet documents always fetch a high price. The dangers in that should be obvious."
- [01:18] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: the package is both heavy and bulky. There is a letter in an envelope attached by a piece of string.
- [01:19] <NgMui> So essentially, I'm on my own here. Are you positive I can trust this other agent?
- [01:20] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: Yoo looks you straight in the eye
- [01:20] <NomDeNarrateur> "No."
- [01:20] <NomDeNarrateur> "But you will be working together, nonetheless. Get along now."
- [01:21] * [Rut]Laure opens the envelope to read it's contents. Essential documents would have been placed in the package, after all.
- [01:22] * NgMui nods, and leaves without a word. Where would miss secret waitress be?
- [01:24] <NomDeNarrateur> Letter: "A distraction is needed. Asians are highly adept: seek them out. Bring the parcel as a gift. It may be useful for your partnership, should you choose to use it."
- [01:27] * [Rut]Laure disdainfully tucks the letter back into the attached envelope and looks around for "an Asian."
- [01:30] * AnAsian finds Laure
- [01:31] <NomDeNarrateur> You two bump into each other pretty much at the same time. Perhaps comedically, if only the mood was comedy
- [01:31] * NgMui isn't laughing.
- [01:32] * [Rut]Laure is smiling. You think.
- [01:32] <[Rut]Laure> ... Where are you from, miss security officer?
- [01:36] <NgMui> Over the hills, and far away...
- [01:40] <[Rut]Laure> Is that so?
- [01:41] * [Rut]Laure sets the package down.
- [01:41] <[Rut]Laure> It's for you.
- [01:41] <[Rut]Laure> Shall we open it somewhere else?
- [01:44] * NgMui raises an eyebrow, and takes a look around.
- [01:46] <NgMui> You know this place better than me.
- [01:50] <NomDeNarrateur> You two are, quite conveniently, in a quiet part of the mansion
- [02:14] <NomDeNarrateur> [And thus we end at a dramatic juncture. Or maybe Ng Mui will just kill Laure and save us some time. Next time, perhaps.]

- Session Three
- ~~~
- January 16
- [22:38] <NomDeNarrateur> [So Ng Mui and Laure have met. And no one is dead yet. Remedy this.]
- [22:39] * NgMui kills Laure
- [22:39] <Marybot> |TIME PARADOX|
- [22:39] <NomDeNarrateur> [Ok...let's try that again]
- [22:39] * [Rut]Laure 's fission is mailed.
- [22:42] <NomDeNarrateur> [So Ng Mui and Laure have met. The guards need to be dealt with. There is more ways to skin a cat. Figure something out? Go your separate ways?]
- [22:47] <[Rut]Laure> What a strange thing for a guard to say~
- [22:47] * [Rut]Laure nods towards the package.
- [22:47] <[Rut]Laure> Open it.
- [22:47] <NgMui> You open it.
- [22:48] * NgMui crosses her arms and looks impatient.
- [22:48] <[Rut]Laure> It was addressed to you. Shall I open it on your behalf, then?
- [22:48] * NgMui nods.
- [22:48] * [Rut]Laure 's expression makes it difficult to tell what she thinks.
- [22:49] * [Rut]Laure opens the package.
- [22:55] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: your tear open the brown paper package to reveal that it was concealing...a bomb. It's quite a complicated device run on plastics, but you can tell that it has all the trappings of a powerful explosive
- [22:58] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: This is hardly your area of expertise, but you can roughly deduce what this 'package' was. There's a detonator, for one. And those are usually for detonating stuff. You don't really need to understand the mechanics of the rest of the device to know that this is no ordinary goodwill present
- [22:59] <NgMui> ...
- [23:00] <NgMui> Is this necessary?
- [23:00] * NgMui peeks over her shoulders for a moment for onlookers. The whole "espionage" career has made her a little paranoid.
- [23:01] * [Rut]Laure doesn't answer, examining the bomb. The smile on her face has all but disappeared. She adjust her glasses.
- [23:01] <[Rut]Laure> ... In what wing are the majority of the other guards stationed, Miss Security Officer?
- [23:13] <NgMui> Hnnm... They're all over the mansion. Most of them are standing by at the conference hall... That would risk the objective.
- [23:14] <[Rut]Laure> Then where are the guests being kept?
- [23:16] <NgMui> They're in the ball room and in the dining room. I would prefer to keep massive collateral damage out of this situation.
- [23:23] <[Rut]Laure> Those attending the conference will flee if an explosive is detonated. With escorts. They are unlikely to leave anything of importance behind.
- [23:23] <[Rut]Laure> By planting it in the most densely occupied area, the chances of guards becoming preoccupied with damage control and rescue efforts will increase. That may result in a weaker escort detachment.
- [23:24] * NgMui looks a little disgusted, and shakes her head slowly.
- [23:25] <NgMui> You little bitch... I hate to admit it, but that sounds like the best option. Can you do it without being noticed?
- [23:25] <[Rut]Laure> I can.
- [23:27] <NgMui> Alright then... You do that. I'll "assist" with escorting the VIPs. Do you who specifically has the objective?
- [23:30] <[Rut]Laure> No. But it should not matter if you are with them before they attempt to split up.
- [23:34] * NgMui . o ( I wonder how I can approach without looking suspicious... )
- [23:35] <NgMui> You know how to set this thing?
- [23:35] <[Rut]Laure> Yes.
- [23:35] <NomDeNarrateur> [Should not be too hard. Probably]
- [23:48] <NgMui> How long are you going to set it for?
- [23:51] <[Rut]Laure> That doesn't matter to you. I assume you are able to recognize the sound of an explosion? And that you understand this to be your signal?
- [23:51] * [Rut]Laure says this completely straight-faced.
- [23:51] <NgMui> ch. Just don't take too long.
- [00:05] * [Rut]Laure rewraps the bomb, then heads off to the kitchen.
- [00:06] * NgMui makes way for the conference room.
- [00:06] <NomDeNarrateur> [We're now in the kitchen!]
- [00:06] <NomDeNarrateur> The kitchen is deserted, save for one man. One large and very angry man.
- [00:08] <NomDeNarrateur> Head Chef: "...What are you doing back here?"
- [00:09] <NomDeNarrateur> [Changing colours every session for no adequate reason]
- [00:09] * [Rut]Laure had hoped to use other workers as cover... but one person could be a nuisance.
- [00:11] <NomDeNarrateur> "I thought I had the rest of your serving guests and delivering drinks."
- [00:12] <[Rut]Laure> Yes. I was going to ask for more h'orderves to serve, but... where is everyone? Are you the only one working the kitchen, sir?
- [00:14] <NomDeNarrateur> Head Chef: "You deaf -and- stupid? Drinks! Guests! I said I didn't want to see any of you back here while I'm on my break."
- [00:17] <[Rut]Laure> Ah! Y-yes, of course, sir! I j-just, uh... misplaced my serving platter! I will return to taking orders at once!
- [00:17] * [Rut]Laure (seems) frightened.
- [00:18] * NomDeNarrateur narrows his eyes
- [00:19] <NomDeNarrateur> "Your incompetence is truly astounding. Unbelievable, even."
- [00:19] * [Rut]Laure rummages through the pantry in a hurry, takes a square platter and a cloth to place over it, then scrambles towards the exit, nearly dropping the tray on the way out.
- [00:20] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: As you near the conference room, you hear the sound of a trolley rattling towards the conference room
- [00:21] * NgMui looks to where she hears, and hopes to see something
- [00:23] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: Surprisingly, you see a trolley rattling towards the conference room.
- [00:26] * [Rut]Laure looks for a safe and inconspicuous place to leave the bomb (which the head chef, in his pompous frustration, failed to notice) before heading to the ballroom.
- [00:26] <NomDeNarrateur> Also, a woman pushing it. More than one, actually. Well, only one of them is actually pushing but whatever
- [00:29] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: the mansion is large. There are a number of fairly empty rooms as well.
- [00:30] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: the servers(?) knock on the conference room door, and they are quickly let in.
- [00:31] * [Rut]Laure leaves the package in one of the empty rooms, then, with the serving platter, goes to the ballroom.
- [00:33] * [Rut]Laure carries the platter with wrists and fingers upright on the bottom, so as to hold the platter as high as possible without actually raising her arm.
- [00:34] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: the ballroom is a suffused with a cacophony of music and chatter, and people doing the chatter (and the music)
- [00:34] <[Rut]Laure> [oh, and with two hands, because why not]
- [00:37] * [Rut]Laure begins collecting empty glasses from the party guests. And the tables where people tend to leave and forget about them since fresh glasses are offered at the bar anyway. As she does this, she scans the ballroom for security.
- [00:39] * NgMui follows suit, lightly knocking on the door.
- [00:40] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: you see shifty individuals everywhere on the floor, not enjoying the party but content with just...staring
- [00:41] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: the door opens slightly, and you're greeted by...your 'boss'
- [00:42] <NomDeNarrateur> Security Management: "Yes? Oh, it's you. What's wrong."
- [00:44] * [Rut]Laure , after collecting a full tray, leaves the room to (presumably) dispose of the used glasses. She places them with the rest waiting to be washed, then reenters and begins collecting more. She keeps tabs on the 'watchers' silently.
- [00:46] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: There sure are a lot of them
- [00:49] * [Rut]Laure gets a full tray and exits again, placing the glasses, again with the rest. But she does not go back in. She returns to the room where she left the bomb. She attempt to set the time for... 5 minutes. A bit much, but you can't be too careful.
- [00:49] <NomDeNarrateur> [The terrorists have set the bomb!]
- [00:54] * [Rut]Laure works quickly, taking the cloth that was draped over the -square- tray and placing it over the bomb. She carries it flat against her palm, so as to make the the derangement between carry heights less conspicuous. She returns to the ballroom...
- [00:54] <NgMui> Sir. We've received an anonymous tip that there's a bomb in the building. Have you seen anyone suspicious recently?
- [00:54] * NgMui glances at the two trolley people.
- [00:55] <NomDeNarrateur> Boss dude: "What? That's preposterous. Our screen has been airtight."
- [00:55] <NomDeNarrateur> He takes a look back in the room anyway
- [00:56] <NomDeNarrateur> "Everyone in here is either highly trusted or personal staff. They are beyond disrepute."
- [00:57] * [Rut]Laure waits till the "watchers" aren't focusing on her and places the concealed bomb under an unoccupied table at her -earliest- opportunity, then proceeds out of the room.
- [01:01] <NgMui> mmn... Do you mind if I take a look, just to be safe? The tipper said something strange about the bomb...
- [01:06] <NomDeNarrateur> Boss: "Hmm. Wait here a sec. I need to double check something."
- [01:06] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: A friendly looking man, dressed in formal wear, approaches you...holding a tray draped in a cloth
- [01:07] <NomDeNarrateur> Idiot: "Oh hey. You forgot this."
- [01:07] * NgMui nods, and waits by the door
- [01:11] <[Rut]Laure> Ah? Oh, you found it! The head chef was so mad when I told him I had lost a tray...
- [01:12] <[Rut]Laure> ... But, uh... is he still on break? I don't want to get yelled at again.
- [01:12] <NomDeNarrateur> Idiot: "Huh? You just left it on the table over there. Glad I could help. You're pretty busy, right? I know how it is. The other week I hosted a---"
- [01:13] <NomDeNarrateur> [Two minutes and counting]
- [01:14] <NomDeNarrateur> "--and you can't believe how forgetful -I- can get. Why, I once left for my office without so much as a pair of--"
- [01:15] <NomDeNarrateur> [He's still holding the tray]
- [01:16] * [Rut]Laure moves to take the tray.
- [01:16] <[Rut]Laure> Hey.
- [01:17] <NomDeNarrateur> "--Hmm?"
- [01:17] <[Rut]Laure> When do you get off?
- [01:17] * [Rut]Laure is smiling amorously.
- [01:18] <NomDeNarrateur> "Get off? Oh no no no, I'm a guest. The minister invited me personally, you know. Quite an honour. I'll have you know that my grandfather, on my mother's side, was once a--"
- [01:19] <NomDeNarrateur> [He's still absentmindedly holding onto the tray]
- [01:19] <[Rut]Laure> A guest!? Oh, I'm so sorry! T-that was a silly mistake! Please forgive me!
- [01:20] <NomDeNarrateur> The man laughs in good humour
- [01:20] * [Rut]Laure tries to snatch the tray while he's distracted.
- [01:21] <NomDeNarrateur> "Oh, it's fine. My uncle used to say I look like awfully like a pleb and--hey!"
- [01:21] <[Rut]Laure> E-excuse me!
- [01:22] <NomDeNarrateur> "That was awfully rude you know! You can't do with manners like that! I'll have you know that--"
- [01:22] <NomDeNarrateur> [He's following you, in a puff. One minute and counting]
- [01:25] * [Rut]Laure sighs. She gently sets the tray down by a table, turns around, takes one of his wrists, and rams it onto her chest. She screams, long and loud. Long enough for everyone in the room to notice. Then kicks him in the groin and sprints out of the room, covering her face.
- [01:30] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: you manage your maneauvre with a bit of difficulty, but you don't manage to land a very solid hit due to his primal male reflexes. He does cringe a bit though. In any case, you have thoroughly raised the alarm. Guards are rushing towards the two of you from all directions. The guests are scandalised.
- [01:31] * [Rut]Laure shoves him hard and retreats towards the exit!
- [01:32] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: you see some of them coming for you, actually. Some concerned, some less so
- [01:34] <NomDeNarrateur> [40 seconds and counting[
- [01:36] <NomDeNarrateur> Randoms: "Madam! Wait!"
- [01:37] * [Rut]Laure sprints for the door, faking tears all the way. But, despite appearances, this was not merely a traumatized server fleeing the scene. She carefully manages her momentum, balance, and footing as she dashes for the door, attempting to slip through an otherwise obstructive crowd.
- [01:37] <NomDeNarrateur> [Meanwhile...]
- [01:38] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: your boss re-emerges after a bit
- [01:39] <NomDeNarrateur> Boss: "Ok, I've doubled checked with the big man. We'll need to have a look at the--"
- [01:39] <NomDeNarrateur> Everyone: A very loud explosion!
- [01:40] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: you manage to slip pas the crowd, but your fleeing has attracted more helpful bystanders who only wish to help. You have quite a gaggle tailing you at this point. Where to run?
- [01:45] * [Rut]Laure goes through the door around the corner, attempting to lose them. Hopefully, the inevitable clutter at the door would buy her some time (and keep people in the room). She tries to break line-of-sight before anyone can catch up to her.
- [01:47] <NgMui> !? Oh, shit... That sounded like it was from the Ball room!
- [01:50] <NomDeNarrateur> Boss: "The hell! What was that? Get down there asap! We're securing the VIPs. Contact the guard house, get emergency in here, and keep the guests under control."
- [01:53] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: behind you, you hear the explosion. It's very loud. And very close.
- [01:57] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: you manage to find a good bit of cover and not get blown off your feet. You can hear chaos and screaming from where you came from, though.
- [02:01] <NgMui> Y-yes!
- [02:05] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: your boss closes the door, and you can hear the sounds of bolts sliding into place. Though bolts on a wooden door probably aren't that useful. Unless it's heavy oak. Or something. Whatever.
- [02:08] <NomDeNarrateur> [Let's leave this half here]

- Session Four
- ~~~
- February 3
- [19:50] <NomDeNarrateur> [Er, so last time, on what probably counts as a game]
- [19:50] <NomDeNarrateur> [Ng Mui and Laure set off a bomb in the premises, killing some well meaning folks and probably setting stuff on fire. Good stuff, ladies.]
- [19:51] <NomDeNarrateur> [Ng Mui was also making up her mind about this door. Not a very honest woman, apparently.]
- [19:52] <NomDeNarrateur> [Laure is now a terrorist and is probably being hunted relentlessly, but ineffectually]
- [19:53] <NomDeNarrateur> [But before we get to all that, thrilling though it is, let us turn back the clock a bit, to the antics of Millie and Ashra, who were at some point pushing a cart. As maid-spies do.]
- [19:55] <Crix[Ashra]> Well, do we knock? Or pretend to know exactly what we are doing.
- [19:56] <NgMui> [I think you did, in fact, knock last time. Not knocking will create a time paradox]
- [19:59] <NomDeNarrateur> [And then maids from the future will have to warp in and fix it. It'd be terrible]
- [19:59] <DrKleine> [Don't do that, Snake]
- [20:01] <NomDeNarrateur> [Well, just work with me here]
- [20:02] <Crix[Ashra]> I mean, when we get to the door, what are we gonna do? I've never done this beeefooooore.
- [20:06] <[Atai]Millie> We're gonna serve drinks. We're pushing a cart full of alcohol and alcohol supplies. What else did you have in mind?
- [20:06] <Crix[Ashra]> Eating. I like that.
- [20:08] <Crix[Ashra]> I guess we'll just stroll in
- [20:08] <[Atai]Millie> Pretty sure this ain't something where you stand around and eat; you stand around and be attentive and give people booze and accept tips. And don't worry if they grab your ass.
- [20:08] * Crix[Ashra] pushes the door open and holds it for the cart.
- [20:09] <Crix[Ashra]> How crude..
- [20:09] <[Atai]Millie> Welcome to catering, kiddo.
- [20:10] <NomDeNarrateur> [ANYWAYS. The door sure is open now.]
- [20:10] * [Atai]Millie pushes the portable bar into the room, through the doors, looking about the place as she does so.
- [20:12] <NomDeNarrateur> Millie + Ashra (Mishra?): In the centre of the room is a very long conference table, packed with politicians and VIPs, each clustered in their own little clique, and doing a lot of arguing.
- [20:13] <NomDeNarrateur> Millie: You spot at least one man who doesn't seem very involved in the shouting and paper waving. He looks familiar, and would probably talk in blue.
- [20:14] * Crix[Ashra] closes the door and steps behind Millie "You're the bartender"
- [02:45] <NomDeNarrateur> [The cart is in the door. Repeat, the cart is in the door]
- [02:46] <[Crix]Ashra> Well, you're the bartender here, not me.
- [02:47] * [Atai]Millie pushes the portable bar into the room, and sets it off to one side of the room where she won't have to do a lot of walking to and from people at the table.
- [02:47] <[Atai]Millie> And that's why I make the big bucks, kiddo.
- [02:47] * [Atai]Millie smirks as she looks around the room.
- [02:48] <[Crix]Ashra> I uhahh....
- [02:48] <[Atai]Millie> Thaaaaaat's why I make the big bucks.
- [02:48] <NomDeNarrateur> From last time: Millie: You spot at least one man who doesn't seem very involved in the shouting and paper waving. He looks familiar, and would probably talk in blue.
- [02:48] * [Atai]Millie murmurs this last mostly to herself.
- [02:48] <[Atai]Millie> ...Hmm.
- [02:49] * [Atai]Millie gestures to Ashra, and hands her a notepad and pencil.
- [02:49] <[Crix]Ashra> Oh? What am I doing with these
- [02:49] <[Atai]Millie> Start taking orders.
- [02:50] <NomDeNarrateur> Man: "Gentlemen, cool yourselves. Have some drinks."
- [02:50] * [Crix]Ashra looks around to those who aren't having a good time, and in extension, obviously need a drink.
- [02:54] * [Atai]Millie takes one half of the table, and starts getting orders. She gives a little smile and a wink when she gets to Mr. Blue.
- [02:57] <NomDeNarrateur> Man: "Thanks, sweetie. I'm in charge of keeping these hooligans watered and satisfied. Not an easy job."
- [02:58] * [Crix]Ashra walks over to Millie with a full notepad, completely ignoring that she is already in conversation. "Hey I'm dooooone"
- [03:01] <[Atai]Millie> I don't envy you, Mr. Lee~
- [03:01] * [Atai]Millie takes Ashra's notepad, glances at it for a moment, and then pockets it.
- [03:02] <NomDeNarrateur> Man: "It pays well, and the hours are good."
- [03:03] <NomDeNarrateur> The man looks over at the notepad Millie takes
- [03:03] <NomDeNarrateur> Man: "What does the bill look like? I'm covering catering on behalf of the minister."
- [03:03] <[Atai]Millie> Go get out a bottle each of rum, whiskey, vodka, gin, and bourbon, as well as one of soda water and cola.
- [03:03] * [Atai]Millie turns back to Lee
- [03:04] <[Atai]Millie> Nothing too horrendous yet, sir.
- [03:04] * [Crix]Ashra shuffles away to grab bottles out of the cart
- [03:05] <[Atai]Millie> Maybe it'll startle you and raise an eyebrow, but nothing to peel paint with or cause heart attacks.
- [03:06] * [Atai]Millie looks back at her notepad.
- [03:06] <NomDeNarrateur> Man: "Ugh. No good can come out of letting these politicos touch the bottle. They'll let all sorts of things slip."
- [03:06] <[Atai]Millie> ...Unless I go get that joker four seats down the eggnog he ordered. Then it might go up a bit.
- [03:07] <[Atai]Millie> Ah, that would be mighty unfortunate.
- [03:08] <NomDeNarrateur> Man: "Wouldn't it just? But I'll take care of that on my end. You can just keep doing your job."
- [03:08] * [Crix]Ashra stands over Millie's shoulder "I got the bottles, and some glasses too. Oh hey it's that guy at the bar is he asking you owwwwuuut?
- [03:11] <NomDeNarrateur> Man: "Well, thank you both for your hard work. I'll ring for another round if our guests get cranky again."
- [03:11] * [Atai]Millie throws a spare notepad at Ashra without looking
- [03:12] <[Atai]Millie> You're quite welcome, Mr. Lee. We're happy to do our job.
- [03:13] <NomDeNarrateur> Man: "Aha. Hopefully it's almost done now. Here's something extra for yourself."
- [03:13] <NomDeNarrateur> The man takes out a fat envelope and tosses it onto one of your serving trays
- [03:13] * [Atai]Millie smiles and bows deeply.
- [03:14] <NomDeNarrateur> "Enjoy. Now we better--"
- [03:14] <[Atai]Millie> You're far too kind, sir.
- [03:14] * [Crix]Ashra straightens her hair after being hit in the face with a notepad
- [03:15] <NomDeNarrateur> OOM
- [03:15] <NomDeNarrateur> Ahem
- [03:15] <NomDeNarrateur> BOOM
- [03:15] <NomDeNarrateur> [At this point our plots catch up to each other. A loud explosion rocks the conference room and some of the VIPs are thrown out of their seats.]
- [03:16] * [Crix]Ashra grabs onto millie for support "ARE WE UNDER ATTACK?"
- [03:18] * [Atai]Millie grabs the envelope and stuffs it tightly into her pocket. Survival is fine, and maybe there's things blowing up, but there are certain things that take priority in life.
- [03:18] <[Atai]Millie> Maybe?
- [03:18] <NomDeNarrateur> Ashra, Millie: it feels like it came from directly below you. The security staff jump into action, which basically is just shouting out colour codes at each other. There sure are a lot these useless mooks.
- [03:19] <[Crix]Ashra> W-what kind of level of terror is burnt sienna?!
- [03:19] * [Atai]Millie looks over at the table.
- [03:19] <[Atai]Millie> Probably a bad one. I thought going by colors was kind of stupid. me, I'd have done it by grades of cat.
- [03:20] <[Atai]Millie> Level Tabby, everything's fine.
- [03:20] <[Atai]Millie> Level Lion; get in the car and drive the hell away.
- [03:20] <[Atai]Millie> Oh, right. Is everyone okay?
- [03:20] <[Crix]Ashra> I like that.
- [03:20] * [Atai]Millie looks around again.
- [03:20] <NomDeNarrateur> Ashra, Millie: Meanwhile, people run around you
- [03:20] <[Atai]Millie> Mr. Lee, you good?
- [03:21] <NomDeNarrateur> Millie: Mr Lee, true to type, has been disappeared
- [03:21] <[Atai]Millie> ...Huh.
- [03:21] <[Crix]Ashra> Shouldn't we uh...wait I wasn't here during the security seminar..
- [03:22] <[Crix]Ashra> Oh your friend left, did you get his address?
- [03:22] <[Atai]Millie> I guess we go. Grab a bottle of something that looks expensive and-- Oh, fuck you.
- [03:22] <NomDeNarrateur> As is the case with many VIPs. A lot of them are still sitting around or crying or praying but a lot of the big wigs have been surrepstitiously spirited away. Most likely by the few security boys paid for IQ.
- [03:22] * [Atai]Millie looks to the doors. Why aren't these people booking it?
- [03:23] <[Crix]Ashra> I don't think people want drink anymore.
- [03:23] <NomDeNarrateur> Millie: Good question. The answer is that the doors have been barred and a ton of guards are standing around it. The place is in lockdown.
- [03:23] <[Atai]Millie> No, I mean for you.
- [03:23] <[Atai]Millie> ...Or... not.
- [03:24] * [Atai]Millie eyes the mooks.
- [03:24] <NomDeNarrateur> Millie: the mooks have moved on to waving their arms around
- [03:24] <[Atai]Millie> ...Stay here a moment, would you, Miss, uh...
- [03:24] * [Atai]Millie looks at her nametag
- [03:24] <[Atai]Millie> ...Ashra?
- [03:25] <[Crix]Ashra> Oh you can read?
- [03:25] * [Crix]Ashra puts on a smug smile for her
- [03:25] <[Atai]Millie> Drink the absinthe, I hear it's good for you.
- [03:26] * [Atai]Millie With that, Millie walks over to the people in front of the door.
- [03:26] <[Atai]Millie> I don't suppose we could.... you know. ...Go?
- [03:26] * [Atai]Millie points at the doors.
- [03:26] <[Crix]Ashra> I told you I was hungry, not thirsty.
- [03:27] <[Crix]Ashra> STAND ASIDE, AS HEAD CULINARY TASTER I NEED ACCESS TO THE KITCHEN
- [03:28] * [Atai]Millie 's head slowly turns, as if on a swivel, as she looks at Ashra. What the fuck. Is she even trying?
- [03:29] <NomDeNarrateur> Ashra: the room surprisingly quiets. There is the distinct feeling of a lot of stares, like how Romans might watch a Christian eating a steak in the lion pit.
- [03:30] <[Crix]Ashra> Ahem, as I was saying this is an EMERGENCY, there could be people dying of hunger out there! What good is shrimp cocktail without any sauce?!
- [03:32] <NomDeNarrateur> A few of the security staff start approaching you carefully
- [03:34] <[Crix]Ashra> Oh good, we get escorts this time, as proper for such classy server as ourselves.
- [03:35] <[Atai]Millie> ...Hey.
- [03:35] <[Atai]Millie> You should probably /shut the fuck up/
- [03:35] <[Atai]Millie> Just a suggestion.
- [03:35] <NomDeNarrateur> It's interesting, how they start to circle you. Surely, they understand the dangers of vicious metaphorical beasts, but at the same time these Christians are just too loud and should get back to weeping and praying.
- [03:35] * [Crix]Ashra frowns.
- [03:36] <[Crix]Ashra> I'm blaming you for this..
- [03:36] * [Atai]Millie is aware of this circlage.
- [03:36] <[Atai]Millie> Me?
- [03:36] <[Atai]Millie> What did I do?
- [03:36] <[Crix]Ashra> You are the one who wanted some help so I OH SO GRACIOUSLY OBLIGED.
- [03:37] <NomDeNarrateur> Millie: you are blamed for this by association. Religion is pretty tough.
- [03:37] <[Atai]Millie> Man, I don't even know y-- Hmm.
- [03:37] * [Atai]Millie thinks for a moment.
- [03:37] <[Atai]Millie> Okay, maybe in a broad sense, but not this, here.
- [03:38] <[Crix]Ashra> Pfft, unimportant
- [03:39] <[Atai]Millie> Unimportant?
- [03:39] <[Atai]Millie> Bullshit.
- [03:40] <[Crix]Ashra> You didn't seem very phased by that explosion, possibly because you detonated it!
- [03:40] * [Atai]Millie snorts derisively and rolls her eyes.
- [03:41] <[Atai]Millie> Are you ... are you actually serious, or.. No, really. I can't tell anymore.
- [03:41] <NomDeNarrateur> SUDDENLY!
- [03:42] <NomDeNarrateur> Mishra: The door bursts into splinters at this rather opportune time. A couple of the guards are actually send flying. All heads turn.
- [03:42] * NgMui shatters the "door" to bits.
- [03:43] <[Crix]Ashra> I'm saved! Wait.. Was I ever in trouble?...
- [03:43] * NgMui looks around for... what was it? Documents? Yeah, those.
- [03:43] <NomDeNarrateur> Let us have a moment of silence for the door, which served a session and a half faithfully as an obstacle, and was, without pomp or circumstances, obliterated by an impatient Chinawoman in one attack
- [03:44] * [Atai]Millie closes her eyes and turns away from the doorsplosion.
- [03:44] * [Atai]Millie turns back, and blinks.
- [03:44] <[Atai]Millie> Well, see?
- [03:44] <[Atai]Millie> The problem got solved for us.
- [03:44] <[Atai]Millie> Oh, wait.
- [03:45] <[Crix]Ashra> Who's that?, is that your paid assassin?
- [03:45] <NomDeNarrateur> Ashra: heads slowly turn back towards you
- [03:46] * [Atai]Millie jogs back over to the portable bar, and nicks a bottle of rum and a pair of lime wedges, and begins munching on a third as she slips the bottle into her other pocket.
- [03:46] <[Atai]Millie> Paid what?
- [03:46] <[Atai]Millie> Why would I pay for an assassin?
- [03:47] <[Crix]Ashra> Well, that is the norm where I come from anyway.
- [03:47] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: you see...a lot of guards. Some have surrounded some girls in the centre of the room. Some have surrounded you. A lot of them are milled around the room. It's hard to tell what else is here.
- [03:47] <[Atai]Millie> Man, if I was going to pay someone to do dirty work, I'd hire a drifter to put a shiv in 'em.
- [03:47] <[Atai]Millie> Not...
- [03:47] <[Crix]Ashra> Not a ninja?
- [03:47] * [Atai]Millie gestures at the door-smashing chink.
- [03:47] <[Atai]Millie> ...all that.
- [03:47] <[Crix]Ashra> Right, the ninja.
- [03:48] <NomDeNarrateur> Mishra: you aren't helping
- [03:48] <[Atai]Millie> Whatever.
- [03:48] <NomDeNarrateur> Everyone: everything happens at once
- [03:48] <[Atai]Millie> Whoa.
- [03:50] <NomDeNarrateur> The Oriental isn't about to be slowed by a reinforced door. In a floor of action she sets upon the guards nearest to her. Did it even take a full attack? It's hard to tell, because the guards crumple like sackdolls without much opportunity for analysis
- [03:51] * NgMui One fist. Three blows. Mui applies the philosophy to her adversaries repeatedly until they stop getting up.
- [03:52] * [Atai]Millie points to the raging chink.
- [03:52] <[Atai]Millie> Hey, fellas? Might want to take care of that.
- [03:52] * [Atai]Millie is speaking to the guards around her and Ashra.
- [03:53] <[Crix]Ashra> I didn't join the security team this isn't covered by my contract!
- [03:53] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: the mooks in your general vicinity have been obliterated without a sweat. Those near and left standing are backing away, reaching for their weapons. The security chief is wide eyed in disbelief, but he is no amateur
- [03:53] <[Atai]Millie> ...Not you, doofus.
- [03:53] <NomDeNarrateur> Security Chief: "Get them all!"
- [03:53] * NgMui pulls her thumb out of someone's eye socket and looks to Millie. Then turns her attention to the other rejects.
- [03:54] * [Atai]Millie ponders the unpleasant implications of the word "all."
- [03:54] <[Atai]Millie> ...Huh.
- [03:54] * [Crix]Ashra whispers to Millie "who's side are we on? Am I on your side? Did you brush your teeth this morning?"
- [03:54] <NomDeNarrateur> At the word, the security chief flees to the back of the room...and everyone jumps
- [03:55] * [Atai]Millie looks a little put-out.
- [03:56] <[Atai]Millie> I'm on the side that's going to be getting potentially violent, soooo... may wanna stay over by the corner, or something. Go have a drink; the bar's decent cover.
- [03:57] <[Crix]Ashra> ah-ah ok, but only because I left my sword in the kitchen
- [03:57] <NomDeNarrateur> Mishra: mooks attack!
- [03:59] <NomDeNarrateur> Funnily enough, none of them really go at Ashra. All four's course home in one Millie
- [04:01] * [Atai]Millie notices the attention she's drawn.
- [04:01] <[Atai]Millie> ...Aw, for fuck's sake.
- [04:03] * [Atai]Millie drops into a crouch, and yanks out a sword from... fucking somewhere. In the same motion, she unsheathes the blade and swings in a wide arc at the oncoming guards.
- [04:04] <[Crix]Ashra> Woah, that's like so cool!
- [04:04] * [Crix]Ashra is behind the mini-bar cart in the corner
- [04:06] <NomDeNarrateur> The security chief looks in dismay as the room turns into a whirlwind. His men are diced, sliced, mashed and served on platter. It's made a mess, but the bartender and the Chinese have made a large serving.
- [04:07] <NomDeNarrateur> Understandably, the mooks are quite spooked.
- [04:07] <NomDeNarrateur> "
- [04:07] * NgMui is a paragon of martial arts prowess - slender limbs stronger than steel and faster than a whirlwind(fuck you, I wrote that first) turns her adversaries into lumps, chunks, and a fine red paste across the floor, walls, and occasionally the ceiling. Her arms form claws that sear through flesh, bone, and sinew all the same, her legs shatter bodies into disfigured lumps held together by skin...
- [04:07] * NgMui ...and fat, and her mind shoots every single one of the mother fuckers.
- [04:08] * NgMui then looks for the documents
- [04:08] <[Crix]Ashra> S-she's a demon, oh no they've found me and they're gonna take me back.
- [04:14] * NgMui looks around for that guy. The boss or something.
- [04:14] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: All other mooks shrink away from you. Or perhaps it is the room itself pulling back, so terrifying was your assault. You see papers on the desk, certainly. But which ones are important? There are a lot of them, as each VIP knew that the one who makes the decision in the end is the one who manages to write it down first.
- [04:14] * NgMui oh. Just takes them all
- [04:14] * [Atai]Millie breathes once, slowly, and returns to her feet. She flicks the blade sharply to the side with a quick motion of the wrist, then replaces it in the sheath.
- [04:15] * [Crix]Ashra pops up next to Millie again "Oh teach me how you did that!"
- [04:15] * [Atai]Millie looks down at the dead people.
- [04:16] <[Atai]Millie> "...Sorry, fellas. We got jobs to do."
- [04:16] <NomDeNarrateur> The security chief is quivering in the corner. And he smells funny now. But he -is- a professional.
- [04:16] <[Crix]Ashra> But my job was to feed those dead people! Unless you mean my other job, I can't talk about that, It's a secret you know?
- [04:17] <NomDeNarrateur> Chief: "Everyone get the chink! I'll take care of the other one!"
- [04:17] * [Atai]Millie looks suspiciously at Ashra.
- [04:17] * NgMui takes a good, hard look at "everyone".
- [04:17] <NomDeNarrateur> Let us also have a moment of silence for the security chief, a very brave man, even if very foolish
- [04:17] * [Atai]Millie recalls her saying something about a sword, too.
- [04:17] <[Atai]Millie> Hmm.
- [04:18] * [Atai]Millie looks back at the chief.
- [04:18] <[Atai]Millie> You sure about that, mister?
- [04:18] <[Atai]Millie> I mean... we really didn't need to do all ...this.
- [04:18] * [Atai]Millie waves her hand at the carnage.
- [04:18] <[Atai]Millie> Me, I just wanted to leave.
- [04:18] <[Crix]Ashra> Just think of the clean-up costs!
- [04:19] <[Atai]Millie> So did the candy-ass smartmouth behind the bar.
- [04:19] <[Atai]Millie> Probably.
- [04:19] <[Crix]Ashra> I mean look at this carpet, do you know how long it takes to get blood out of a carpet? It isn't fun.
- [04:19] <[Atai]Millie> The batshit gook, though... uh...
- [04:19] * [Atai]Millie takes a good look at the aforementioned gook, unaware that this slur is incorrect.
- [04:19] * [Atai]Millie looks back at the chief.
- [04:20] <[Atai]Millie> ...Yeah, I don't know about her.
- [04:20] * [Atai]Millie looks back at the oriental.
- [04:20] <[Atai]Millie> Can we help you, miss?
- [04:21] * [Crix]Ashra sticks her tongue out at Millie when she has her head turned.
- [04:21] <[Atai]Millie> A drink? You after somebody in particular? Or is it just kind of general mayhem with you...?
- [04:21] * NgMui is too busy training the eye of the dragon on anyone foolish enough to oppose her further.
- [04:21] * [Atai]Millie chews idly on another lime wedge.
- [04:22] * [Atai]Millie shrugs, looking at the chief.
- [04:22] <[Atai]Millie> Dunno, man.
- [04:22] <NomDeNarrateur> Millie: no one seems interested in a drink. Perhaps because the Chinese is crushing their minds into jelly from sheer mortification
- [04:24] <[Atai]Millie> Weeeelp.
- [04:24] * [Crix]Ashra desperately searches the mini-bar in hopes of finding food
- [04:24] <[Atai]Millie> I'm pretty much done, here.
- [04:24] <[Atai]Millie> Sorry about your guys.
- [04:24] * [Atai]Millie shrugs in a "Hey, whaddya gonna do, ya know?" kind of way, and walks to the exit.
- [04:24] <[Crix]Ashra> Oh I'll get the cart this time Millie.
- [04:25] <[Atai]Millie> No, no, leave it.
- [04:25] <NomDeNarrateur> Millie: it is clear that some very tough calculations are going on in the chief's head
- [04:25] * [Crix]Ashra starts pushing the cart towards the door, then trips a bit at Millie's suggestion, quickly walking away and giving a nervous smile to the supposed ninja.
- [04:26] <NomDeNarrateur> Everyone: You hear another loud sound from below you. Not an explosion per se. More like something is...collapsing.
- [04:27] <[Crix]Ashra> This place is a dump! I'm surprised that it hasn't just caught on fire.
- [04:27] <NomDeNarrateur> Ashra: you smell smoke
- [04:28] <[Atai]Millie> ...Huh.
- [04:28] * NgMui quickly finds a suitcase or duffel bag or something to carry all this god damn paper.
- [04:28] * [Atai]Millie pauses and turns back.
- [04:28] <[Crix]Ashra> Well what do you know, where are the stairs?
- [04:28] <[Atai]Millie> Hey. Mr. Shouts-a-Lot?
- [04:28] <[Atai]Millie> Might wanna hustle people the fuck out of here.
- [04:28] <[Atai]Millie> House is coming down.
- [04:29] <[Atai]Millie> Sorta...
- [04:29] * NgMui , once she's got everything loaded up, makes like a tree and gets out of there.
- [04:29] <[Crix]Ashra> NOW ISN'T THE TIME TO GET SENTIMENTAL
- [04:29] * [Atai]Millie waves her hands vaguely.
- [04:29] * [Crix]Ashra tugs on Millie's hand pulling her towards the door
- [04:29] <[Atai]Millie> you know...
- [04:31] <[Atai]Millie> F I I I I I I I R R R R E !
- [04:31] * [Atai]Millie bellows in a yell that would shame lions.
- [04:31] * [Atai]Millie turns back to Ashra
- [04:31] <[Atai]Millie> /Now/ we're good.
- [04:31] <[Crix]Ashra> Yes, yes millie where there is smoke, there is fire.
- [04:31] * [Atai]Millie leaves the room.
- [04:32] <NomDeNarrateur> Everyone: the room goes nuts
- [04:32] * [Crix]Ashra Is also out of the room.
- [04:32] * [Atai]Millie hauls ass.
- [04:32] <NomDeNarrateur> [Aaaand, this is a good palce to cut]

- Session Five
- ~~~
- February 8
- [22:32] <NomDeNarrateur> [Some time ago, on Maidcraft: Not an RTS]
- [22:33] <NomDeNarrateur> [Laure has blown up a lot of people and is currently hiding in a bit of cover]
- [22:34] <Crix`> [If maidcraft was an RTS, I would play it]
- [22:34] <NomDeNarrateur> [In time Ng Mui would kick down the door, some barmaids will get a tip, and a lot of mooks will be killed all round]
- [22:35] <NomDeNarrateur> [But right now, Laure needs to...what does she need to do?]
- [22:35] <NomDeNarrateur> [Oh well.]
- [22:35] <NomDeNarrateur> [Roll camera]
- [22:36] * [Rut]Laure goes for the nearest empty room in the hallway, before the imminent flood of escaping survivors comes pouring out the door.
- [22:39] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: it's not hard to find an empty room, though this may change as guests start to panic and the entire mansion rouses in alarm. The doors of most unused rooms are shut, though. It'll be difficult to ascertain their purpose without venturing in.
- [22:39] <NomDeNarrateur> There are doors to either side of you. They all look the same. Pick a door and win a prize.
- [22:41] * [Rut]Laure picks the middle way.
- [22:42] <NomDeNarrateur> Let's see what she's won!
- [22:42] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: you open the door, and...well, it's dark. As would be expected, for an unused room. It may have been used for storage.
- [22:44] <NomDeNarrateur> There is a light switch on the wall, some boxes in a near corner, a table and a chair in another, and a lot of black
- [22:48] * [Rut]Laure ducks into the room. She closes the the door swiftly and fishes in her pockets. A glasses case, a hair tie, and a small white container.
- [22:49] * [Rut]Laure removes and stores her glasses, ties her hair into a low, short ponytail, and takes a pair of contact lenses from the white container. They're blue. She pops them in.
- [22:56] <NomDeNarrateur> ???: "My, you've made quite a mess."
- [22:58] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: is it just you, or does that voice have...an Asian accent?
- [22:59] <[Rut]Laure> Oh, my. I wonder if all of your people pick such strange times to appear.
- [22:59] * [Rut]Laure turns around.
- [23:00] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: indeed, a familiar Asian woman is standing behind you. Her fan covers the lower half of her face making it difficult to determine her expression, but her eyes are certainly not very mirthful
- [23:02] <NomDeNarrateur> ???: "Did you know who that man was? Did you care? You've managed to blow up Lord Eddington. He is--was--a very important man."
- [23:08] <[Rut]Laure> Oh, I'm sorry. I do not recall any such individual being specified in the terms that were agreed upon. So, no, I did not know him.
- [23:08] * [Rut]Laure smiles pleasantly, but her eyes seem to add "and didn't care either".
- [23:10] <NomDeNarrateur> Asian woman: "Therein lies the problem. You have made quite a fuss indeed."
- [23:11] <[Rut]Laure> So it seems. Which is why I had wondered why we are talking, presently.
- [23:15] <NomDeNarrateur> Asian: "How many people, do you think, saw you blow up a royal heir? After physically assaulting him?"
- [23:22] <[Rut]Laure> No one -saw- me "blow up a royal heir", Miss 'U'. My apologies if there was any miscommunication.
- [23:23] <NomDeNarrateur> Woman: "Really? How could you be so sure? Are you confident that no one would notice a little waitress darting about? That no one would watch -you-?"
- [23:26] <[Rut]Laure> I was confident that they would not stop me, Miss. If the collateral damage is an issue, I humbly suggest that "avoiding casualties" be better reflected fiscally in future contracts. Especially when heavy ordinance is involved.
- [23:29] <NomDeNarrateur> AW: "You have compromised the mission. There is a manhunt out there. Your work is now considerably harder. And I don't think the client will be all too pleased."
- [23:32] <[Rut]Laure> Mm. Will you begrudge me if I... respectfully disagree on the former?
- [23:32] <NomDeNarrateur> WA: "I will. But that does not really matter for either of us."
- [23:33] <NomDeNarrateur> Deciding the conversation is probably over, she makes for thedoor
- [23:33] <[Rut]Laure> My sentiments exactly...
- [23:35] <NomDeNarrateur> Yoo turns around just before she leaves, to leave a parting shot
- [23:36] <NomDeNarrateur> Yoo: "Ah, I should also note that as of now, you are expendible. But a useful one. I leave you in interesting times."
- [23:45] * [Rut]Laure give minor acknowledgment before heading for the door. By now, the guests would be in a frenzied rush to exit. It could be useful as cover, or at least, a distraction for the guards.
- [23:47] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: a loudspeaker crackles to life, and you hear a booming message being played throughout the mansion
- [23:49] <NomDeNarrateur> "ALL GUESTS, PLEASE REMAIN CALM. THE MANSION IS CURRENTLY LOCKED DOWN IN EMERGENCY PROCEDURES. PLEASE REMAIN AS YOU ARE AND FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS OF THE STAFF."
- [23:50] <[Rut]Laure> ...Right on time.
- [23:50] <NomDeNarrateur> "ALL STAFF, BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR INDIVIDUALS OF THESE DESCRIPTIONS:"
- [23:51] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: and lo, there is a perfect description of you, and various variations of you, given over the speakers.
- [23:51] * [Rut]Laure almost forgot; she swiftly discards her bowtie and vest.
- [23:56] * [Rut]Laure lingers in the darkened doorway, waiting for any further descriptions. They shouldn't know about NgMui, but if they do, it might complicate matters slightly.
- [23:58] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: it's official: they're all on a hunt for you. You've been abandoned, betrayed, or simply scapegoated
- [00:01] * [Rut]Laure leaves, darting in the opposite direction she came from. Blending with the mob was too risky now, but a number of the guards would have to be dedicated to crowd control. Were they to sweep the building for her, it would mean they were spread out.
- [00:02] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: you have been given several escape routes for this mission. The main door is one. Getting into contact with others who shared your objective was another
- [00:27] * [Rut]Laure decides on an alternate route. The main door would be jammed with both guests and guards, but finding NgMui would only draw attention to her (and the package). She would look for a ground-level window or secondary exit, keeping hidden to avoid patrols.
- [00:40] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: your recon shows that there are guards stationed around the perimetre of the mansion. Some windows are less guarded than others, but there are still obstacles
- [01:09] <NomDeNarrateur> [Let us return and have a look at what the rest of the motley crew have been doing in the meantime]
- [01:10] <NomDeNarrateur> [The building has suffered a structural integrity problem, and may even have caught fire. Maids are currently booking it.]
- [01:10] <[Atai]Millie> [meep meep!]
- [01:11] <NomDeNarrateur> Everyone: a loudspeaker crackles to life, and you hear a booming message being played throughout the mansion
- [01:11] <NomDeNarrateur> "ALL GUESTS, PLEASE REMAIN CALM. THE MANSION IS CURRENTLY LOCKED DOWN IN EMERGENCY PROCEDURES. PLEASE REMAIN AS YOU ARE AND FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS OF THE STAFF."
- [01:12] <NomDeNarrateur> "ALL STAFF, BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR INDIVIDUALS OF THESE DESCRIPTIONS:"
- [01:12] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: one of those sound rather familiar
- [01:13] * NgMui searches for any immediate exits in the hallway.
- [01:14] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: there is an upper story window. Where that leads is a mystery. Certainly not to a bush of poisonous ivy or anything.
- [01:15] * NgMui takes a closer look. Does the fucking thing open without the need to shatter it?
- [01:16] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: Since the mansion seems to be locked down, it is locked. As one might expect.
- [01:18] <NgMui> Tch.
- [01:19] * NgMui busts the window to shit.
- [01:19] <NomDeNarrateur> Window: you are busted to shit
- [01:19] * NgMui now takes a look.
- [01:19] * Window is busted, quite very possibly to shit
- [01:19] <NomDeNarrateur> Mishra: the Chinese woman has busted a window. To shit. It is very loud
- [01:20] <[Atai]Millie> Oh hey, an exit.
- [01:20] <[Crix]Ashra> I'm sure windows get broken all the time around here
- [01:20] <[Atai]Millie> Not that loudly.
- [01:20] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: it is a bit of a way down from here, but below you there is a bush of something. Will pad your fall, perhaps.
- [01:20] <[Atai]Millie> Or that breakily.
- [01:21] * NgMui climbs through and hops on down. Briefcase full of documents in tow, of course.
- [01:21] <[Atai]Millie> Also, not many have scary chinks climbing out of them
- [01:22] <[Atai]Millie> Oh, that reminds me.
- [01:22] * [Atai]Millie pauses, and glares at Ashra.
- [01:22] <[Atai]Millie> What was that about a sword?
- [01:22] <[Atai]Millie> and something else that I can't remember?
- [01:22] <[Crix]Ashra> I'll be able to summon it up later, It's no big deal.
- [01:22] <[Atai]Millie> You, uh.
- [01:22] * [Atai]Millie thinks how best to word this.
- [01:23] <[Crix]Ashra> I'm glad you reminded me though!
- [01:23] <[Atai]Millie> You aren't part of the normal staff, are you?
- [01:23] <[Atai]Millie> Or any staff.
- [01:23] <[Crix]Ashra> I guess you could put it that way.
- [01:23] <NomDeNarrateur> Suddenly, a crash! A Chinese woman has left the building!
- [01:23] * [Atai]Millie looks her up and down, critically.
- [01:23] <[Atai]Millie> Hmmm.
- [01:24] <[Atai]Millie> Well, whatever. If you're with the firm, you won't get killed, so... yeah.
- [01:24] <[Atai]Millie> And if you are, no skin off my nose.
- [01:24] * [Crix]Ashra has ditched her apron (too bloody), now wearing black pants, a plain purple shirt and throughly messed up purple hair
- [01:24] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: that wasn't one of your better landings. You didn't quite manage to miss the bush, and you didn't quite manage to make much use of it either
- [01:25] <NomDeNarrateur> You are one with the bush. That is, a tangled mess.
- [01:25] * [Crix]Ashra bends out the window "Hello, Ninja-lady? Are you ok?"
- [01:26] <[Atai]Millie> Hey.
- [01:26] * NgMui grunts loudly, mentally scolding herself for this fuck-up.
- [01:26] * [Atai]Millie taps Ashra on the shoulder.
- [01:26] <[Crix]Ashra> Hm oh yes?
- [01:26] <[Crix]Ashra> I was never good with falling, do you want to go first and catch me?
- [01:26] * [Atai]Millie shoves Ashra out the window.
- [01:26] <[Atai]Millie> Ladies first.
- [01:27] <NgMui> !?
- [01:27] * [Atai]Millie calls out:
- [01:27] <[Crix]Ashra> Hey I-ieeeeeeeeeeaaaaah
- [01:27] <[Atai]Millie> REMEMBER TO TUCK AND ROLL-- oh wait, that's for leaving a moving vehicle.
- [01:27] * [Atai]Millie shrugs.
- [01:34] * [Atai]Millie goes on down the hall, smashes open another window, and peers out. Any unoccupied bushes down there, maybe?
- [01:35] <NomDeNarrateur> Ashra: you fall! And fall! Luckily there is a bush and a maid to stop your fall...or was, because the entire bush has been wrenched out by its roots and is rolling away
- [01:35] * NgMui 's reflexes are much better than her general ability to concede to gravity. Seeing the quickly approaching mess of frill and apron, she springboards herself off of the wall and somersaults to the ground.
- [01:36] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: you manage to get out of the way of a falling maid, but you have taken a lot of bush with you.
- [01:37] <NomDeNarrateur> Ashra: there is nothing in the way of you and the ground. Well, this sucks.
- [01:37] <[Crix]Ashra> Eveennn the shubbery conspires against meeee!!
- [01:38] * NgMui grumbles, wishing she had taken out those other two before leaving. She finds a dark corner somewhere to rid herself of the excess vegetation and assess the situation.
- [01:39] <NomDeNarrateur> Ashra: you manage to follow Millie's advice, but it is a clumsy affair. You manage to roll forward as you hit the ground, but your roll is stopped short by what looks like a Chinese treant
- [01:39] * [Crix]Ashra tries to cough, but that's hard when the wind is knocked right out of you.
- [01:40] <NomDeNarrateur> Millie: the fall is not very wholesome, but there is enough vegetation to cushion your fall if you take care. Alternatively, you can try to make use of the gutter pipe and protruding bricks to climb down
- [01:42] <[Atai]Millie> Oh hey, that works.
- [01:43] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: your thoughts are interrupted by a bump against your shins.
- [01:44] <NgMui> ...
- [01:44] * [Atai]Millie looks at the easier route down.
- [01:44] * [Atai]Millie ...Fuck easy modo.
- [01:44] * [Atai]Millie hops out.
- [01:44] <[Crix]Ashra> Hello, yes I'd like to place a collect call..?
- [01:45] * [Crix]Ashra falls asleep next to that odd moving bush
- [01:45] * NgMui withholds the urge to stomp the idiot into the ground and gets back to deforesting herself. Preferably somewhere out of sight.
- [01:45] <NomDeNarrateur> Millie: you follow the Chinese woman's example and jump out the window as well. Surely, if some Asian waif can do it so can you, right?
- [01:45] * [Atai]Millie considers on the way down that this probably was a very stupid thing to do.
- [01:46] * [Atai]Millie sighs.
- [01:46] <[Atai]Millie> Shit.
- [01:46] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui, Ashra: there is a bang and a crash, and out of a nearby window comes your other colleague. It's raining maids!
- [01:47] <NgMui> Argh, ridiculous...
- [01:47] * [Atai]Millie lands, painfully.
- [01:48] <NomDeNarrateur> Millie: Not watching the sequal to Ng Mui's efforts was probably a mistake. The bushes seem to act as natural defence mechanism to those who wish to escape via windows. You follow the fate of those before you and get entangled.
- [01:48] * [Crix]Ashra rolls up into a sitting position arms splayed back for support, then noticing something moving in the bushes.
- [01:49] * [Atai]Millie could not remember how you're supposed to land after jumping so high, either, but it's for goddamn sure not "land flat on your back"
- [01:49] <[Atai]Millie> ...fuck.
- [01:49] <NomDeNarrateur> Everyone: you hear a loud whistle. Your escapades have roused -something-. Shouting voices are heard soon after. Torches flick to life
- [01:49] * [Atai]Millie looks up.
- [01:50] <[Atai]Millie> ... /fuck. /
- [01:50] <[Crix]Ashra> Oh, this is bad..
- [01:50] * [Atai]Millie hauls her ass out of the bushes in a very ungainly manner.
- [01:50] <NomDeNarrateur> Everyone: you are in the garden of the Minister. It is a rather large extravagance, full of fountains and hedges. The main walls that surround the area are tall and unfriendly, but there is rear gate way to the back
- [01:51] * [Crix]Ashra gets up and does her best to walk in a straight line towards the bushes in order to help Millie out
- [01:51] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: you have managed to remove most of the offensive vegetation. It shouldn't impede your movement, but it's in your hair and stuck to your clothes and to an independant observer you would look rather silly.
- [01:52] * NgMui makes for the rear gate. Going over the wall may be quicker, but it would be a good way to put a bullseye on her back for pursuers.
- [01:54] * [Atai]Millie rolls neatly out of the bush, and to the ground, landing in front of Ashra.
- [01:54] <NomDeNarrateur> Mishra: Millie manages to defeat the grasping shrubbery with Ashra's help, but it has left its marks. You look like you fell from the second story into thorny bushes. Which you did.
- [01:54] <[Atai]Millie> Fuck. Ow.
- [01:54] <NomDeNarrateur> Mishra: the Chinese woman does not wait. She makes a dash for the rear gate
- [01:55] <[Crix]Ashra> That was quite careless of me, falling out the window like that.
- [01:55] <[Atai]Millie> ...Good work on not dying. Valuable skill.
- [01:55] * [Atai]Millie looks over.
- [01:55] <[Crix]Ashra> She, can't possibly be taking that statement as anything but sarcasm
- [01:56] <[Atai]Millie> The gook's hauling ass. Probably not a bad idea.
- [01:56] * [Atai]Millie hauls likewise
- [01:56] <[Atai]Millie> Hustle.
- [01:56] <[Crix]Ashra> I'm almost a cripple wait up!
- [01:56] * [Crix]Ashra follows the other girls
- [02:00] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: you easily leave the other two stooges behind. The guards stationed outside are organising themselves to sweep the garden, but you are fast enough to weave through their net before it tightens.
- [02:00] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: you get to the gate safely. Funnily enough, there are no guards there. Instead...
- [02:00] <NomDeNarrateur> Yoo: "Have you got the goods?"
- [02:02] * NgMui tenses, then realizes the voice is familiar. Nevertheless, she remains in form, in case Yoo is baiting her into a trap.
- [02:02] * [Atai]Millie isn't going as fast as she can because she's helping Stumbles The Hobbling Cook.
- [02:02] <NgMui> I got everything I could find in that room... In this briefcase.
- [02:02] <NomDeNarrateur> Yoo: "Let me take a look."
- [02:02] <[Crix]Ashra> Oh Millie, you're my hero~
- [02:03] <NomDeNarrateur> Mishra: you two are making very slow progress
- [02:04] * NgMui slides the briefcase to Yoo's feet, keeping an eye out.
- [02:05] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: Yoo whips out a small flashlight, pops open the briefcase, and shuffles through the papers at an insane rate. She clearly knows what she is looking for.
- [02:05] <NomDeNarrateur> Yoo: "Tch. This isn't it."
- [02:05] <NgMui> What?
- [02:05] * NgMui 's cautiousness gives way to rising anger.
- [02:06] <NomDeNarrateur> Yoo slams the case shut in frustration
- [02:06] <NomDeNarrateur> Yoo: "Who else got in and out of the conference room?"
- [02:06] * [Crix]Ashra points out to the two figures in the distance
- [02:07] * [Atai]Millie grumbles and gripes.
- [02:07] <NgMui> You don't mean... Those two maidservants?
- [02:07] <[Crix]Ashra> Hey look Millie, It's the ninj and uh...uh some other person!
- [02:07] <NomDeNarrateur> Mishra: meanwhile, the net tightens. Around you. This is going to end badly.
- [02:07] * NgMui swears in Chinese.
- [02:07] <[Crix]Ashra> [Ninja]
- [02:08] <[Atai]Millie> Next time, tell me that you're not rated for window-jumps. I'm almost certain you aren't up to code.
- [02:08] <[Atai]Millie> ...what?
- [02:08] <NomDeNarrateur> Yoo: "That could have been it. Damn. He must have already passed it on."
- [02:08] <[Atai]Millie> A ninwhat?
- [02:09] <[Crix]Ashra> A ninja.
- [02:09] <NgMui> "He"? Who's "He"? What else are you not telling me, Yoo?
- [02:09] <[Atai]Millie> Is that some gook word?
- [02:10] * NgMui makes sure to invade Yoo's personal space enough to make good on her ribcage threat without taking a step
- [02:10] <[Crix]Ashra> It's a sort of assassin, specializing in Ninjitsu, or sneaking, or unarmed combat with a vague oriental flavor.
- [02:10] <NomDeNarrateur> Yoo: "Weren't you told? You aren't the only one in there. Where are they now?"
- [02:11] * NgMui grunts angrily, and takes a step away, looking back the direction she came.
- [02:12] <NomDeNarrateur> Yoo is playing with her fan, and clearly distressed by the prospect of losing the objective in all this chaos.
- [02:12] <NgMui> They were trying to follow me, but I got away during the sprint. I'll have to go back and get them.
- [02:13] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: You see two hobbling figures a bit back; probably the ones you left in the dust. You also see the flashes of torches and bunches of shouting men, who are methodically approaching your area.
- [02:13] <NgMui> There they are...
- [02:14] <NomDeNarrateur> Yoo: "Do that. Regroup, and make for these coordinates by foot. There should be car waiting for you. Here are the keys. Make your escape from there."
- [02:14] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: Yoo shoves a piece of paper and a key into your hands.
- [02:15] <NgMui> What? But I can't- wait, were those two with the organization?
- [02:15] <[Crix]Ashra> Millie where is our chariot of hell steeds to take us away from this place? Or maybe a steam tank? A car?
- [02:15] <NomDeNarrateur> Yoo: "What organisation? And you should hurry."
- [02:17] <[Atai]Millie> Uhh.
- [02:17] * NgMui swears in Chinese again, then makes for the shadows and tries to find a safe place to view the area. How many groups of men are there? How heavily are they armed? How close are the others to the exit?
- [02:17] <[Atai]Millie> I was thinking about stealing somebody's car.
- [02:17] <[Atai]Millie> ... That shouting's getting kinda close.
- [02:18] <[Crix]Ashra> Maybe we would be better off hiding?
- [02:19] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: They are far enough from the exit that you will have no problem getting there and back, but at their pace they probably won't make it before being spotted. There are a lot of men--if they are the same standard as the mooks in the conference room they shouldn't be a match for you, but it will slow your progress significantly.
- [02:23] * NgMui makes another dash, this time back towards the bumbling maids. Those two could fight, so they could probably take care of them if it comes down to it.
- [02:24] <NomDeNarrateur> Mishra: The ninja returns!
- [02:24] <NgMui> You two. Do you have the documents?
- [02:24] <[Atai]Millie> Evening, scary lady.
- [02:24] <[Atai]Millie> Uh.
- [02:25] <[Crix]Ashra> Uh
- [02:25] <[Crix]Ashra> That wine list?
- [02:25] <[Atai]Millie> I've got something, but nowhere you're getting it if I'm dead.
- [02:25] <[Crix]Ashra> I remember it perfectly
- [02:25] <[Atai]Millie> Probably not the wine list.
- [02:25] <[Crix]Ashra> Let's see the fir- Oh alright.
- [02:25] <NgMui> Come with me if you want to live.
- [02:26] <[Crix]Ashra> This is a win-win situation
- [02:26] * NgMui is suddenly Filia
- [02:26] <[Atai]Millie> Yeah, that was the idea.
- [02:27] * [Atai]Millie goes with the creepy jap.
- [02:27] <NgMui> I was not informed of your involvement, but nevertheless.
- [02:28] <[Atai]Millie> Eh, shit happens.
- [02:28] * [Atai]Millie realizes something that was said earlier.
- [02:28] <[Atai]Millie> ...oh. Documents?
- [02:28] <[Atai]Millie> So, uh.
- [02:28] <[Atai]Millie> You with the firm?
- [02:29] <NgMui> ...
- [02:29] <[Atai]Millie> Not the yanks.
- [02:29] <NgMui> Enough talk. They're right on top of us. Quickly, now.
- [02:29] * NgMui leads the way
- [02:29] <[Atai]Millie> Hm? mm.
- [02:29] * [Atai]Millie nods.
- [02:29] * [Crix]Ashra sits on a nearby stump (there is always a nearby stump) and rests while Millie talks to the ninja.
- [02:30] * [Atai]Millie THERE IS NO RESTING NOR IS THERE A STUMP
- [02:30] <[Crix]Ashra> Oh we're moving already!
- [02:31] <[Atai]Millie> Sh.
- [02:33] <NomDeNarrateur> Everyone: you start moving again, but you are still only as fast as your slowest member
- [02:33] <[Atai]Millie> Hey, scary lady: Can you carry Stumbles? She's not the swiftest.
- [02:33] * NgMui sighs and grabs up Ashra.
- [02:34] <[Atai]Millie> Thanks, doll.
- [02:34] <[Crix]Ashra> I'm fragile!
- [02:34] <NgMui> Shut up.
- [02:36] <NomDeNarrateur> Even though Ng Mui has an Ashra slung over shoulder progress is significantly faster. You should be able to make it out easily.
- [02:37] <[Crix]Ashra> hmph!
- [02:39] <NomDeNarrateur> And so, our maids waltz of merrily into the night, and live happily ever after!
- [02:39] * NomDeNarrateur Fin

- February 10
- [00:12] <NomDeNarrateur> [So, er]
- [00:14] <NgMui> [sneaking and shit]
- [00:14] <NomDeNarrateur> [Right-o]
- [00:14] <NomDeNarrateur> [Laure needs to get out of the mansion. Do this now.]
- [00:14] <[Atai]Millie> [but her balls are inert.]
- [00:15] <[Crix]Ashra> [Good thing she's only on the first floor]
- [00:15] <[Rut]Laure> [I am?]
- [00:15] <NgMui> [can I do something while she's making the journey?]
- [00:16] <[Rut]Laure> [Anyway, the last thing I did was specify my course of action. Nom?]
- [00:16] <NomDeNarrateur> [Do what?]
- [00:16] <NomDeNarrateur> [The last thing you did was....]
- [00:17] <NomDeNarrateur> [You were trying to find a way out of the mansion other than the front door]
- [00:21] <NomDeNarrateur> [So, last time on Maidcraft: Not an RTS]
- [00:21] <NomDeNarrateur> [Laure was looking for a lonely looking window]
- [00:22] * ZombieDogs bust through that god damn shit
- [00:22] <NomDeNarrateur> [Ng Mui and Mishra were trying to find a vehicle]
- [00:27] * NgMui , after getting out of immediate danger, stops and turns around. She lets Ashra down, but keep a firm grip on her in case she might want to throw her or something.
- [00:28] <NgMui> Hold on. Before we go any further, I want you to hand over those documents. Now.
- [00:28] <[Crix]Ashra> Oh you mean we have a few minutes to rest?
- [00:30] * [Rut]Laure contemplates the lightest-guarded window. She could probably overwhelm the guards, but...
- [00:30] <[Atai]Millie> Bullshit. You're going to leave us or kill us the moment you get your hands on them.
- [00:31] <NgMui> Not so. But if you do not hand them over, I will leave you, and I will call those men over here.
- [00:31] * [Atai]Millie snorts quietly.
- [00:32] <[Atai]Millie> Bullshit.
- [00:32] * [Atai]Millie takes the envelope Lee handed her out of her pocket, and holds it up to the light.
- [00:32] <[Atai]Millie> Fine.
- [00:33] * [Atai]Millie opens it, and looks through it.
- [00:33] <NgMui> Hand it over.
- [00:33] * NgMui reaches out a hand.
- [00:34] * [Rut]Laure approaches the two guards quietly. A scythe-like blade flicks open in her right hand. Then her left. When she runs out of cover with which to draw closer, she leaps forward to catch the closest one on the side of the neck before his friend can react.
- [00:34] <[Crix]Ashra> If only there was some place to use this chalk on.
- [00:34] <[Atai]Millie> Hold your goddamn horses.
- [00:35] <NomDeNarrateur> Millie: Inside the envelope is...another envelope. This one is sealed. There is also an accompanying note
- [00:35] <[Atai]Millie> ...the fuck?
- [00:35] * [Atai]Millie takes out the note and reads it as best she can
- [00:36] <[Crix]Ashra> Double sealed, for twice the leak protection.
- [00:38] * NgMui gets impatient and goes for the letter.
- [00:38] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: your attack wasn't your best work ever, but the guards are not maid-spies, and are no match. You manage to overpower one, but not without a bit of a fuss. The other guard gasps, but also remembers to blow a whistle
- [00:39] * [Atai]Millie moves it out of reach.
- [00:40] <NomDeNarrateur> [Too bad! That was an obvious move]
- [00:40] <[Atai]Millie> I said hold your fucking horses. There's another letter here.
- [00:40] <NgMui> I said hand it over.
- [00:41] * [Rut]Laure was going to force him to sound an alert sooner or later. But since he's already taken care of that, she flings her second sickle, which would have otherwise been meant for his leg. Instead, she'd put this one between his eyes.
- [00:41] <NomDeNarrateur> Millie: the note is short and simple. "You should know better."
- [00:41] * [Atai]Millie isn't really listening to Ng Mui.
- [00:42] * [Atai]Millie snickers, and flicks the letter off to the side, in her general direction, but it's still going to fall short of her.
- [00:42] <[Atai]Millie> That sneaky bastard.
- [00:42] * [Atai]Millie taps out envelope number two into her hand.
- [00:43] <[Crix]Ashra> Aren't you going to open it?
- [00:43] <[Atai]Millie> Hell no.
- [00:43] * NgMui grabs Millie by the face, as she hasn't made an opposing roll
- [00:43] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: The sound of the whistle dies in an interesting gurgle, and the guard goes down. But you here running footsteps towards your direction, and more whistles
- [00:43] <[Crix]Ashra> A small note has managed to intimidate you, how embarrassing...
- [00:46] * [Rut]Laure moves to hide by the nearest stairway, quickly retrieving her weapons as she leaves the bodies.
- [00:46] <NgMui> Weren't you born in an English speaking country? You don't seem to understand much of it. I'm sorry, was I not clear?
- [00:51] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: you manage to find a good spot behind the stairway. Guards are already beginning to file in, and they treat the bodies with some dismay. They begin to search the general area.
- [00:51] <[Atai]Millie> Get your goddamn hands off me or lose them.
- [00:54] * [Rut]Laure estimates her distance from the guards and how close they are to noticing her. She decides to wait just a little longer... or until someone walks out of the stairwell.
- [00:56] * [Crix]Ashra sighs and away from the Millie and the ninja, to go near a nearby tree.
- [00:56] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: no one seems to be coming from the upper floor. The guards are slow, but very thorough. At this rate they'll start looking around the stairs in a few minutes
- [00:57] <[Crix]Ashra> I suppose this will have to do, it's not an even surface but hey what can you do.
- [00:57] * NgMui takes the envelope. and keeps her hands while she's at it. Afterwards, she releases Millie and picks up the note she dropped. She glances over it.
- [00:58] * [Crix]Ashra takes out a piece of chalk and inscribes a crescent moon within a circle on it
- [00:58] <[Crix]Ashra> [It being the tree]
- [00:59] * [Rut]Laure decides to take her chances. As soon as the guards aren't looking in her direction, she slips up the stairs. Were any late stragglers to come down, the quarters would be close enough for her to polish them off without too much of a fuss. She keeps ready for a sudden slash as she heads up.
- [00:59] * [Atai]Millie slices Ng Mui's hand, but just barely.
- [01:00] * [Atai]Millie yanks herself away, as soon as she's let go, and yells angrily.
- [01:00] <[Atai]Millie> WHAT THE FUCK IS YOUR PROBLEM, WOMAN?!
- [01:00] <NomDeNarrateur> [OK, that was messy]
- [01:01] <NomDeNarrateur> [Millie and Ng Mui establish they don't like each other, get physical, Ng Mui has an envelope]
- [01:02] * [Crix]Ashra chants a few lines of abyssal and presses her hands against the the tree, where a sword hilt is now sticking out of the bark.
- [01:02] * NgMui was more annoyed at being charlie brown'd than the slice across her hand, and now she makes a messy face at the note from the envelope.
- [01:02] <[Crix]Ashra> I think my sword is stuck...
- [01:02] <NgMui> ...The hell is this?
- [01:02] <[Atai]Millie> Fucking... fuck! Is everyone a massive bitch where you come from?! Jesus Christ!
- [01:03] <[Atai]Millie> It's the note that was inside the envelope Lee gave me.
- [01:03] <[Atai]Millie> I was going to tell you once I was able to read it.
- [01:04] * [Atai]Millie is furious.
- [01:04] <NgMui> I didn't ask you to read it.
- [01:04] <[Atai]Millie> I don't give a fuck what you asked.
- [01:04] * NgMui shoves the note and the envelope in a pocket, looks back, and then towards the trail.
- [01:05] <[Atai]Millie> As far as I knew, that was my pay for the evening, Jesus.
- [01:05] <[Atai]Millie> I was bluffing until now, but It was the only thing remotely papery I had on me.
- [01:05] <NgMui> You can slander me later. Right now, we need to get out of here.
- [01:05] <[Atai]Millie> I don't know what IS in there.
- [01:06] <[Atai]Millie> I'll slander you as long as I fucking feel like it.
- [01:06] * [Atai]Millie pauses and looks around.
- [01:06] <[Atai]Millie> ...Stumbles did a runner, it looks like.
- [01:06] <[Atai]Millie> That's one less to worry about.
- [01:07] <[Atai]Millie> You have a car?
- [01:07] * [Crix]Ashra walks back over Millie and the ninja, unaware that any fight took place
- [01:07] <[Atai]Millie> ...No such luck.
- [01:07] * NgMui dangles some keys, then grabs up Ashra and heads off.
- [01:08] * [Atai]Millie follows behind, thinking happy thoughts about pouring powdered glass in the chinks cereal or rice gruel, or whatever the fuck gooks eat for breakfast.
- [01:09] * [Crix]Ashra is helplessly carried away by NgMui, an ornately decorated rapier in her left hand
- [01:10] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: you're up the stairs
- [01:12] <NomDeNarrateur> There is not as many guards here, it seems. Unlike the first floor, where the perimetre is closely enforced, the upper floors have more concentrated defences
- [01:12] <NomDeNarrateur> That, and it may be on fire.
- [01:16] * [Rut]Laure , keeping wary, moves to check the view out of the nearest window. How have the escapees progressed, and what are the outside security measures like? She had hoped they would be preoccupied with crowd control, but she couldn't be certain.
- [01:21] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: you sure don't see, any escapees. There a lot of guards in the garden, sure.
- [01:25] <NomDeNarrateur> They seem to be...looking for something
- [01:28] * [Rut]Laure is impressed. They even kept the inner and outer patrol cells separate. She looks for another staircase, other than the main stairs and the one she just used. Her earlier distraction wouldn't be enough.
- [01:29] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: since you're in the left wing, there should be a mirror all the way in the right wing
- [01:33] * [Rut]Laure heads there. Time was wasting, and it'd have to do. She'd take the shortest route to escape.
- [01:33] <NomDeNarrateur> Moving right along: you are there!
- [01:38] * [Rut]Laure is there!
- [01:40] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: you now have various options: you can try a window (awesome idea, by the way), go back downstairs, or find some other magic way
- [01:40] <[Rut]Laure> [>She'd take the shortest route to escape.]
- [01:40] * [Rut]Laure uses the damn window.
- [01:44] <NomDeNarrateur> Like any sensible person, Laure doesn't attempt to leap from the second story of a huge mansion. So she just climbs out. The bushes are still rather annoying, but much more manageable when you aren't hurtling downwards.
- [01:45] <NomDeNarrateur> There is a predetermined escape route. There should be a car waiting for you.
- [01:46] * [Rut]Laure stays low while outside and tries to slip past the patrols on the way to the extraction point.
- [01:47] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: on your way to the point, you see a group of three women following the same route you are. How suspicious! How did the flow of time work for this to happen? But everyone knows time dilates when you start traveling at the speed of drama, so it all makes sense.
- [01:49] * [Rut]Laure "appears".
- [01:49] <[Rut]Laure> Gentlewomen.
- [01:49] * NgMui zooms along, giving Ashra a fun little joy ride. RIDE THE DRAGON! NO STAMP REQUIRED FOR THOSE THAT ARRIVE IN UNIFORM
- [01:50] * [Crix]Ashra is the only person who can see the newcomer because she is the only one looking backwards.
- [01:50] <[Crix]Ashra> There's someone behind us, and It's a girl!
- [01:51] * NgMui skids to a halt, performing an about-face.
- [01:52] <NomDeNarrateur> Everyone: you see each other. Except for Ashra, who is the wrong way again.
- [01:53] <[Atai]Millie> Goddammit.
- [01:53] <NgMui> Hmm? So, you made it out alive. Perhaps you're sharper than I had given credit for.
- [01:53] <[Atai]Millie> ...You know her?
- [01:53] <[Rut]Laure> Ah! You're alright! Thank goodness some of the other staff made it out~
- [01:53] <[Atai]Millie> Not a guard, then?
- [01:53] <[Atai]Millie> Hooray, you get to live. Can we keep going, now?
- [01:53] <NgMui> She's... with us, I believe. Yes, let's move.
- [01:54] * NgMui gets back to sprinting
- [01:54] <NomDeNarrateur> How mundane!
- [01:54] <[Atai]Millie> Thank shit.
- [01:54] * [Atai]Millie re-hauls ass
- [01:55] * [Rut]Laure keeps pace. She seems relieved, but is looking straight at NgMui, broadcasting a -very- specific message. "What are you doing" and "who (the fuck) are these people".
- [01:55] * [Crix]Ashra sees the newcomer closer up, but it's hard to focus when you ride the dragon.
- [01:56] * NgMui isn't paying attention, and gets some invisible words carved into her back
- [01:57] <NomDeNarrateur> Everyone: the path looked like it would lead you through the woods, but it actually curves around to another side of the mansion. Sitting literally in the middle of nowhere is...a pickup truck. It looks like it may once have belonged to the renovators of the mansion, because there are are still pieces of timber sitting in the bed.
- [01:57] <NomDeNarrateur> Also, you see two men. Or bears. That's always a possibility.
- [01:58] <[Crix]Ashra> I can't see anything, did we just go in a circle
- [01:58] <[Crix]Ashra> [?]
- [02:01] <[Atai]Millie> Are you driving, dying, or getting the fuck out of the way?
- [02:01] <NomDeNarrateur> Everyone save Ashra: as you get closer, you recognise at least one of those faces. It's Minister...Minister...It's that foreign minister who threw the party.
- [02:01] <[Crix]Ashra> Are you talking to me Millie?
- [02:03] * NgMui skids to a halt, and sets Ashra down. She keeps herself at a distance close enough to get a draw on one of the figures if they prove to be hostile.
- [02:04] <NomDeNarrateur> The other is a giant of a man in a black suit, standing just slightly behind the minister. Ng Mui: you can tell he is no amateur, just by his bearing
- [02:04] * [Crix]Ashra brushes herself off, then turns around and realizes that there are other people here, or bears.
- [02:04] <[Atai]Millie> Shh.
- [02:05] * [Rut]Laure stops, appearing to hide slightly behind NgMui's back. And, in turn, hidden behind her own back, is another folded sickle.
- [02:05] <NgMui> Stand aside.
- [02:06] <[Crix]Ashra> Don't worry, we're professionals.
- [02:06] <NomDeNarrateur> Minister: "Ah, good evening. Ladies. How goes it?"
- [02:08] <[Rut]Laure> Huh? I-isn't that the Minister? Oh, please mind what you say, girls...
- [02:08] <[Crix]Ashra> I'm hungry.
- [02:09] <NomDeNarrateur> "Do you have what I need, ladies?"
- [02:10] <NomDeNarrateur> As he says so, he holds up a small seal, no bigger than the palm of his hand. On it is carved a symbol, one that you all recognise.
- [02:10] <[Atai]Millie> What the fuck would you nee-- oh.
- [02:10] <NomDeNarrateur> It was used in lieu of a signature on each of your individual contracts
- [02:10] <[Atai]Millie> Ask the chink.
- [02:10] * [Atai]Millie points to Ng Mui.
- [02:11] <NgMui> Hmph. Pardon me.
- [02:11] <[Atai]Millie> I'd have had it, but nooooo...
- [02:12] * [Rut]Laure pauses for a moment before deciding to keep her chosen demeanor.
- [02:12] * NgMui withdraws the letter.
- [02:13] <NgMui> Is this what you were looking for?
- [02:13] * NgMui envelope, whatever
- [02:13] <NomDeNarrateur> "Not me, specifically, but I am not privy to say. Once I check the contents I shall know for sure."
- [02:15] * NgMui steps up to the man and presents the envelope.
- [02:15] <[Rut]Laure> Mm... but my, it is rather crowded over here. With all these... previously unmentioned additions, I certainly hope our contractual agreement will be honored, yes?
- [02:17] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: The minister nods to the giant behind him, who steps forward to take the envelope from you
- [02:18] <NomDeNarrateur> Minister: "You raise an interesting point, Laure. Consider this:"
- [02:19] <NomDeNarrateur> He motions in the direction of the mansion you just left behind. A part of it has collapsed, and a huge plume of smoke is billowing out.
- [02:20] * [Crix]Ashra idly draws figure eights in the ground with her rapier
- [02:23] <[Atai]Millie> So... you just trashed your own house, just to get something that guy could have handed you on his own?
- [02:23] * [Atai]Millie is confused, slightly.
- [02:25] <[Rut]Laure> Oh, but this one is too humble to suggest that avoiding such things was not a specified secondary objective, sir~
- [02:25] <NomDeNarrateur> "These are not just meeting minutes or budget notes, my dear. They are not easily removed from the Cabinet. And it was imperative that this extraction occur. Also, I did not quite expect this outcome."
- [02:26] <NomDeNarrateur> The minister looks at his estate with mock-mournfulness
- [02:26] * NgMui crosses her arms. If he wants excuses, he can ask for them.
- [02:26] <[Crix]Ashra> I don't remember leaving the oven on...so I didn't start the fire.
- [02:27] <[Atai]Millie> ...why, so it would look like a bunch of terrorists stole this from the guy who handed them to me, rather than you taking them from him?
- [02:27] * [Atai]Millie is putting two and two together, and admires the duplicity.
- [02:28] <[Atai]Millie> Ain't a bad trick.
- [02:28] <NomDeNarrateur> "Ah, I was quite attached to that house. And to many of the people inside. This destruction is quite unfortunate. The political turmoil you have caused will be -immense-. And not ordered for."
- [02:28] <[Crix]Ashra> It's much too roundabout, at least where I grew up.
- [02:29] <[Atai]Millie> Don't look at me. I didn't start this shit.
- [02:29] * [Atai]Millie looks at the others.
- [02:29] <[Crix]Ashra> So uh, why is the mansion on fire anyway.
- [02:29] <[Crix]Ashra> I was with Millie almost the entire time.
- [02:30] <[Atai]Millie> I'm kind of wondering that, too. Not too hard, mind you. But out of passing curiosity.
- [02:31] * [Crix]Ashra puts on a blank expression, stunned by Millie's carefree attitude
- [02:32] <NgMui> Is there anything else?
- [02:32] <NomDeNarrateur> "Well, I suppose you did retrieve the objective. That must count for something. You can expect the usual gratitude. Unfortunately, however, there are other complications."
- [02:33] * [Rut]Laure straightens up slightly.
- [02:33] <[Atai]Millie> Oh, yay.
- [02:33] * NgMui wishes he would just get on with it. Must everyone associated with this mission talk in circles?
- [02:34] <[Crix]Ashra> Go on...
- [02:36] <NomDeNarrateur> "You will need to disappear. Very quickly. You have thrown at least three countries into chaos by tonight's actions. It will take some time to cool. That is, you will be sent away for some time until you can learn not to destroy governments while performing such simple tasks."
- [02:37] <[Rut]Laure> Consider it done.
- [02:37] <[Crix]Ashra> If I was with Millie, and ninja's are supposed to be stealthy then it must be
- [02:37] * [Crix]Ashra points at laure with her rapier "You! You are the one who caused the explosion!"
- [02:37] <NgMui> Hmph. Whatever you say.
- [02:37] * [Rut]Laure gasps.
- [02:38] <[Atai]Millie> Sounds good.
- [02:38] * [Atai]Millie turns around.
- [02:38] <[Atai]Millie> ...it was?
- [02:38] <[Rut]Laure> Eek! Please be careful with that, miss!
- [02:38] <[Atai]Millie> Nice going, new kid.
- [02:38] <[Atai]Millie> You just destabilized...
- [02:38] * [Atai]Millie turns around.
- [02:38] <[Atai]Millie> it was three, right?
- [02:40] * [Atai]Millie turns back.
- [02:40] <[Atai]Millie> ...probably three countries with your party favors. I hope you feel bad.
- [02:40] <[Crix]Ashra> Don't you have anything to say for yourself?
- [02:41] <NgMui> Anymore orders, sir?
- [02:41] <[Rut]Laure> Oh? I'm afraid you've lost me, -young- miss.
- [02:42] <[Crix]Ashra> Hmph, contemptuous rogue!
- [02:42] <[Atai]Millie> No apologies here, Ashra.
- [02:43] <[Atai]Millie> don't bother chasing after them.
- [02:43] <NomDeNarrateur> "You really should all get going. A hunt is about to begin, I'm afraid. You can almost here them on the way..."
- [02:43] <NomDeNarrateur> The Minister cocks an ear to the wind...
- [02:43] * [Rut]Laure slips off.
- [02:44] <NomDeNarrateur> "Ng Mui knows the way to the safe house. But I don't recommend she drives. Good day, ladies."
- [02:44] * [Atai]Millie me makes a half-hearted grab for the keys, but isn't putting too much into it.
- [02:45] * [Crix]Ashra looks at the vehicle we are about to leaving in.
- [02:45] * NgMui makes a "tch" sound and expresses the closest thing to amusement she's done all night.
- [02:46] <NgMui> Hey, swearing lady. You know how to drive?
- [02:46] * NgMui dangles the keys before Millie.
- [02:47] <[Atai]Millie> Sure do, Iron Chink.
- [02:47] <[Atai]Millie> But you can hand me the fucking keys, or I'll put my sword through the steering column, and we can all walk.
- [02:47] * [Atai]Millie holds out her hand.
- [02:48] <[Crix]Ashra> NO! I HATE WALKING!
- [02:48] <[Crix]Ashra> I..I did like being carried though
- [02:48] <[Rut]Laure> Ah, girls? I don't mean to rush anyone, but...
- [02:48] <NgMui> Your mouth is sharper than your sword. You should run for office.
- [02:49] * [Rut]Laure is already in the back seat.
- [02:49] * NgMui drops the keys into Millie's hand, and jumps into the bed of the truck.
- [02:50] <[Atai]Millie> Sharper than your mom, gook.
- [02:50] * [Atai]Millie mutters to herself after climbing in.
- [02:50] <[Crix]Ashra> What if she decides to blow up the truck! Is one piece of property enough for a deranged Demolition girl?
- [02:50] <[Atai]Millie> Before we go, does anyone else know how to drive?
- [02:51] * [Crix]Ashra realizes everyone else has moved, then hops up into the back of the truck with NgMui (the ninja)
- [02:52] * [Rut]Laure would prefer not to, since they know her face, and it is possible they've rendered a sketch by now.
- [02:53] <NgMui> Hurry it up. The longer we wait, the more difficult this is going to be.
- [02:54] <[Crix]Ashra> So uh, how long did it take for you to become a ninja?
- [02:57] <NgMui> Thirty years on the east bank, thirty years on the west bank...
- [02:57] <[Crix]Ashra> You trained to be a ninja, AT A BANK?
- [02:57] * [Atai]Millie gets no answer.
- [02:58] <[Atai]Millie> Fine.
- [02:58] * [Atai]Millie starts the truck up, and pulls out.
- [02:58] <[Crix]Ashra> A financial ninja? You can steal loans and assassinate debtors?
- [02:58] <[Atai]Millie> If I fall over and die, you're all fucked.
- [02:58] <NgMui> Wouldn't want that to happen.
- [02:58] <[Crix]Ashra> If we die, I'll show you all my mansion.
- [02:59] <[Atai]Millie> and if Jappo Jane here bites it, we're all lost and up shit creek with a capsized canoe, so
- [02:59] <[Atai]Millie> ...take a bullet for us, okay?
- [03:00] * [Atai]Millie flashes a happy smile, and goes back to driving.
- [03:00] * [Rut]Laure just remains quiet. No need to stick her neck out...
- [03:00] <NomDeNarrateur> Everyone: the minister must have actually heard something, because skidding down the hill comes even more cars
- [03:01] * NgMui sits on the corner of the bed, leaning against the cab while stabilizing herself with the side of the truck.
- [03:01] <NomDeNarrateur> They don't look like they're here just to say hi, but of course they don't because they're just cars and cars don't have emotions
- [03:01] <[Atai]Millie> Fuuuuuck.
- [03:02] <NomDeNarrateur> Presumably though these cars are full of people, and most likely people who would like to catch you and kill you. Heads up.
- [03:02] <[Atai]Millie> One of you have a gun?
- [03:02] * [Rut]Laure shakes her head.
- [03:02] <NgMui> Drive steadily. I'll take care of it.
- [03:02] <[Crix]Ashra> I could summon one, if we were on a flat surface!
- [03:06] <[Atai]Millie> Nobody lifted one from the guards, or anything
- [03:06] <[Atai]Millie> ?
- [03:07] <[Atai]Millie> Jesus H.
- [03:07] * [Atai]Millie grits her teeth and drives on, keeping an eye on the road and on her pursuers.
- [03:07] <[Rut]Laure> ...
- [03:08] <NomDeNarrateur> And off we go!
- [03:08] <NomDeNarrateur> This first stretch of road is mostly empty plains. You are free to gun it without much trouble. You can also try ducking into the dirt roads, or off the road altogether
- [03:09] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui, Ashra, Laure: in the back of the truck, there are also some firearms. Someone has been quite generous.
- [03:09] <[Atai]Millie> Hey, bomber Betty? Anything more than goes boom?
- [03:10] <[Crix]Ashra> Wait what are these doing here!
- [03:11] * [Atai]Millie glances into the rear view mirror and glares.
- [03:11] <[Atai]Millie> Hang on, folks, we're taking a detour!
- [03:12] * [Atai]Millie swerves off onto the next little shitball dirt road she comes across, without any warning (other than that given to her passengers.)
- [03:12] * NgMui hangs on, and gets lower to avoid any sudden branches.
- [03:14] * [Crix]Ashra pulls a two handled rifle out of the crate, it has a large drum barrel attached to it
- [03:16] * [Rut]Laure retrieves a bolt-action rifle from the crate, taking it over the semi-automatic next to it.
- [03:17] <NomDeNarrateur> Everyone: this is going to be no joyride. Your pursuers also have all sorts of delicious firearms they do not mind unloading in your general direction. As they are doing now.
- [03:18] * [Crix]Ashra braces herself on the side of the truck, spraying bullets towards the cars
- [03:19] * [Atai]Millie hears the sound of awfully close gunfire.
- [03:19] <[Atai]Millie> Motherfuck! When did they--?!
- [03:19] <[Atai]Millie> Wait, what?
- [03:20] <[Atai]Millie> I thought none of you were carrying!
- [03:20] <[Atai]Millie> The fuck is this shit?!
- [03:20] <[Crix]Ashra> AAAAAAAAAAAhhhH I CAN'T HEAR YOU
- [03:21] * [Atai]Millie resolves to box Ashra's ears once she's safe and sound.
- [03:21] <[Atai]Millie> See how much you can't hear then.
- [03:22] * NgMui grabs Ashra's weapon by the barrel, squeezing it steady and enjoying the feeling of burning steel and brass discards plinking off of her body.
- [03:26] * [Atai]Millie has no idea what's going on, but guns, fine. that's a good thing.
- [03:26] <[Atai]Millie> Hey, bomber Betty! Any grenades back there?
- [03:27] * [Rut]Laure checks.
- [03:27] <NomDeNarrateur> There is an exchange of gunfire. Bullets fire through the air on both sides. Plinking sounds of ricochet resound through the night, but the maids seem to have the advantage. The lead car is peppered, and while it didn't seem to get anything vital, the driver seems suitably spooked, and distracts himself slightly trying to dodge
- [03:28] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: you find two grenades
- [03:28] <[Crix]Ashra> [Soundclip play: Metalslug announcer grenade.wav]
- [03:29] <[Rut]Laure> Oh, there are a few after all.
- [03:32] <NomDeNarrateur> At that moment, Millie makes a sharp turn. The pursuers don't quiet manage the same reflexes
- [03:32] <NomDeNarrateur> [Lead is now 6]
- [03:33] <[Atai]Millie> HAHAHAAAA! BLOW ME, FAGGOTS!
- [03:33] * [Atai]Millie cackles madly.
- [03:34] * [Atai]Millie shuts up quick, though. It'd be just her luck for them to gain the advantage soon.
- [03:38] <NomDeNarrateur> Millie: the road is much tighter now. There are more bends, more obstacles, more cover.
- [03:39] * [Crix]Ashra Prepares to fire the other half of the 50round drum mag into the chasing car's engines.
- [03:41] <NgMui> Excuse me for a moment.
- [03:42] * NgMui grabs up a long hunk of heavy timber from beneath Ashra, points it up, and looks ahead.
- [03:42] * [Atai]Millie sees Ng Mui getting up to something funky, and gives her the benefit of the doubt. Dirty nip she might be, but nips are crafty, right?
- [03:43] <NgMui> There... Keep driving forward.
- [03:44] * NgMui turns it horizontal, holding it above the cab, and waits. A few seconds later, the path closes closely between two trees. The truck makes it through, but the log does not; it falls between them and snags on two low branches. An obstacle intended for their pursuers.
- [03:52] <NomDeNarrateur> Everyone: your pursuers gun after they turn after you, but they did not expect a huge log suddenly in the way of the road. The first car swerves violently to try to avoid it, and almost manages to do so, but a sudden grenade from Laure is enough to cause a fatal accident. The car spirals into a tree, a total wreck
- [03:53] <[Atai]Millie> Thaaaat's my girls.
- [03:53] * [Atai]Millie grins, and stomps on the gas.
- [03:54] <NomDeNarrateur> The other two cars also swerve, but to avoid their fallen colleague. They fail to take into account more gunfire coming from their prey, and another has its engines filled with lead. It starts smoking violently, and it is forced to pull off to the side. Little help that would do, because it also seems to catch fire
- [03:54] * NgMui sighs, and leans back against the cab. So much violence tonight.
- [03:54] * [Atai]Millie is hopped up on adrenaline. So much violence tonight!
- [03:58] * [Rut]Laure keeps her eyes down the sight of her rifle, and on the road behind them.
- [03:59] * NgMui , after she's done firing off into the night, lightly taps Ashra with her foot.
- [04:00] <NomDeNarrateur> [Accelerating goes well. Lead is now 7]
- [04:00] <[Atai]Millie> Keep the damage coming, ladies! We'll lose these pricks one way or another!
- [04:00] <[Crix]Ashra> Hmmm, what is it?
- [04:01] <NgMui> You're not bad at that. What's your name?
- [04:02] <[Crix]Ashra> I'm Ashra!
- [04:03] <NomDeNarrateur> Millie: you're almost run out of country road. In time you will reach a small town
- [04:05] <NgMui> Good to know.
- [04:06] <[Atai]Millie> hmmm.
- [04:06] <[Atai]Millie> Better stick to the backroads, or at least lose the last asshole before we get there.
- [04:07] <[Atai]Millie> No sense in attracting the pollizzi.
- [04:07] * [Atai]Millie mangles the word.
- [04:16] * NgMui eases.
- [04:16] <NgMui> I don't think they'll follow us.
- [04:17] * [Rut]Laure doesn't budge. She keeps the rifle shouldered and facing the rear.
- [04:17] <NomDeNarrateur> The last car, quite aware that it's quite alone at this point, its friends now two flaming wrecks on the side of the road, has a bit of a change of heart about pursuing further. It slows down visibly, and is probably stopping to assist the survivors (doubtful) of your concentrated anti-vehicle violence
- [04:17] * [Crix]Ashra looks in the WEPON crate for another drum magazine
- [04:19] <NomDeNarrateur> Ashra: infinite ammo! Or at least, another drum
- [04:22] <NomDeNarrateur> [Everyone: This is the part where you drive off into the sunset, but it's quite dark and the sun does not feel like setting for your punks just because it's convenient for the narrative. In any case, it's an easy road from here, even it might be a lot of driving. But it'll take only until the start of next session. Tune in next time!]

- Session Seven
- ~~~
- February 24
- [23:20] * NgMui enjoys a scenic route while bicycling.
- [23:21] <NomDeNarrateur> It's a beautiful day in little Paris. The sun is shining and the birds are singing and random French people are making love
- [23:23] * NgMui rings her little bike bell. Ring ring, ring ring!
- [23:23] <[Crix]Ashra> BIIIIICYCLE-BIIIIICYLE
- [23:24] * NgMui would rather listen to Dragon Attack!
- [23:24] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: The friendly neighbours wave as you pass by. Everyone is smiling and everything is happy!
- [23:24] * NgMui kills them all.
- [23:25] <NomDeNarrateur> FIN
- [23:26] <NomDeNarrateur> Awesome
- [23:26] <NomDeNarrateur> So
- [23:26] <NgMui> OH SORRY I GOTTA LEAVE
- [23:26] <Gaatz> SEE YA LATER FAGETS
- [23:26] <NomDeNarrateur> Urge to kill, rising
- [23:26] <Gaatz> :>
- [23:26] <NgMui> Take it out on my character
- [23:27] <NomDeNarrateur> [Last time, on Not MaidCraft: Brood Wars]
- [23:27] <[Atai]The_Overmillie> [SERVE THE HIVE]
- [23:28] <[Crix]Ashra> [Maidcraft 2: the eternal beta]
- [23:32] <NomDeNarrateur> [Our heroines(?) were taking a road trip. Ng Mui's instructions leads them right through civilisation and out the other end, to an area of the country that is less like the country and more like the New Froniter. It's the place everyone talks about wanting to retire to, but no one ever goes to. The people living there must have been part of the landscape because nobody has ever seen anyone...
- [23:32] <NomDeNarrateur> ...move in, and considering the size of only town in the area everyone and their little talking dog would know of visitors.]
- [23:34] <NomDeNarrateur> [So anyways, by the time you all arrive at your destination your ride is making strange wheezing sounds and coughing up very peculiar shades of smoke. The alternation between cobble roads and dirt hasn't helped at all, and the poor machine is going to shake itself apart any moment now.]
- [23:36] <NomDeNarrateur> Everyone: a bit out from the town itself is a rather large house sitting by itself behind the trees, a picturesque, two story affair, but without quite enough land to be called an estate.
- [23:39] <NomDeNarrateur> [This is probably where you want to be. /railroad]
- [23:39] <[Atai]Millie> "...And that's how come Russia's a miserable shitpile. Too much snow makes a country dead inside."
- [23:40] <[Atai]Millie> Also, I hope you all like walking, because this thing is going to die.
- [23:40] <[Atai]Millie> Soon
- [23:40] <[Crix]Ashra> Are we there yey?
- [23:40] <[Crix]Ashra> [yet]
- [23:40] <[Rut]Laure> It seems so.
- [23:40] <[Atai]Millie> We were already there. You slept through it.
- [23:40] <[Atai]Millie> We all had fun while you were snoozing.
- [23:40] <[Crix]Ashra> I'm sure.
- [23:41] <[Atai]Millie> You don't have enough money to be sure.
- [23:42] * [Crix]Ashra looks perplexed at this statement
- [23:46] * NgMui doesn't say anything, and simply waits for the automobile to stop.
- [23:48] <[Crix]Ashra> Well, wherever we are going I'm sure they will have food.
- [23:49] <[Crix]Ashra> I hope..
- [23:49] <NomDeNarrateur> Everyone: the truck give a final splutter, shokes, and dies.
- [23:50] <NomDeNarrateur> And also chokes and dies.
- [23:50] <[Atai]Millie> Might have to steal it or ki-- Oh, there it goes.
- [23:50] * NgMui hops out and walks the rest of the way.
- [23:50] * [Rut]Laure follows.
- [23:51] <[Crix]Ashra> W-wait up!
- [23:52] * [Crix]Ashra stumbles out of the bed of the poor truck, giving it a final salute for it's brave transporation.
- [23:52] <NomDeNarrateur> Everyone: Nothing at all happens to you as you walk. It's not very far from where your ride died anyway. The gate of a house is not locked, and there is a gentle ramp leading up to the front door.
- [23:53] * NgMui opens the gate, feels a strange sense of deja vu, and proceeds to the door.
- [23:53] * [Atai]Millie refrains from opening the cab door in Ng Mui's face as she walks by in the interests of getting along. Taking up the rear, she hops out and follows the others, whistling to herself as she strolls along the road.
- [23:54] <[Crix]Ashra> Well we aren't breaking in, so it's only appropriate to knock.
- [23:55] * [Atai]Millie looks over the house.
- [23:55] * NgMui was just going to open the door, but whatever. She knocks loudly.
- [23:55] * [Rut]Laure clears her throat and straightens her shirt.
- [23:55] <NomDeNarrateur> Everyone: there is a bell, but sure, you can knock
- [23:57] * [Atai]Millie arrives with the rest of the others by the door.
- [23:57] <[Atai]Millie> ...Nobody home?
- [23:57] <NomDeNarrateur> *silence*
- [23:57] * NgMui opens the door.
- [23:57] <[Atai]Millie> Their loss.
- [23:57] <[Crix]Ashra> Maybe they are....throwing a surprise party.
- [23:58] <[Atai]Millie> I'm glad I'm not going first.
- [23:58] <[Atai]Millie> I don't like surprises.
- [23:58] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: the door opens to a short hall leading to a large reception area
- [00:00] * NgMui steps in.
- [00:01] * NgMui calls out,
- [00:01] <NgMui> Master. I have returned.
- [00:01] * [Crix]Ashra braces for thousands of ninjas coming out of the shadows
- [00:02] <NomDeNarrateur> Everyone: the reception area is quiet.
- [00:02] <NomDeNarrateur> Ashra: this is exactly the sound ninja make
- [00:03] * [Crix]Ashra starts to panic.
- [00:03] * [Atai]Millie wrinkles her nose. This place belongs to Jappo Jane's pimp? Ick.
- [00:05] <NomDeNarrateur> "Sorry, sorry. I'm not as fast as I used to be."
- [00:05] * [Crix]Ashra slumps her shoulders and visibly relaxes.
- [00:06] <NomDeNarrateur> Everyone: you hear the sound of wheels on carpet
- [00:06] * [Rut]Laure doesn't react, but looks around.
- [00:06] * NgMui goes to him.
- [00:07] <NomDeNarrateur> "Hold up! Just stay right there and I'll be right with you."
- [00:07] * NgMui holds up.
- [00:08] * [Atai]Millie 's brow wrinkles slightly. Her pimp pushes a cart around? Damn, that su-- Wait, that means she belongs to a servant.
- [00:09] * [Atai]Millie makes a strange, brief sound that's a mix between a snort and a cough sound as she bites off laughter.
- [00:09] <[Crix]Ashra> Did you bite your tongue?
- [00:09] <[Atai]Millie> Ah, uh, no.
- [00:09] <[Atai]Millie> Dust in the air.
- [00:10] * [Rut]Laure ignores the duo.
- [00:10] <[Rut]Laure> Is everything alright, sir?
- [00:10] * [Atai]Millie bites the inside of her cheek to keep from smiling.
- [00:12] <NomDeNarrateur> Everyone: A small man emerges from one of the side passages. At first it seems that you recognise him, but you can't really place where. He has the kind of face that everyone swears they've seen somewhere before, but at the same time they can't really place where. It's a very generic kind of face; when press to describe it one might say that it has a normal nose, and normal eyes, and...
- [00:12] <NomDeNarrateur> ...matching normal hair. This is exaclty the kind of description everyone will admit to having seen before, yet at the same time is of no use whatsoever to anyone. It does however, create a sense of intimacy. Neither remarkable or threatening, but familiar and trustworthy.
- [00:13] <NomDeNarrateur> Celebrity, everyman, confidant, and passing Samaritan all at once.
- [00:14] <NomDeNarrateur> What stops him from being totally boring in everyway is that he does not walk up to you. He wheels up to you. In a wheelchair.
- [00:14] <[Crix]Ashra> Ah, Hello.
- [00:15] <NomDeNarrateur> "Morning, ladies. Sorry I didn't see you at the door. I kinda dozed off waiting for you."
- [00:15] * [Atai]Millie waves briefly.
- [00:16] <NomDeNarrateur> The man laughs. It's pleasant, and probably part of the laughtrack recording you hear on TV
- [00:16] * NgMui folds her hands together and stands at ease nearby, respectfully giving him her full attention.
- [00:16] * [Atai]Millie ...So her pimp is a cripple? Goddamn, he must be master of some kind of crazy Invalid-Fu if he's got her under his thumb.
- [00:16] * [Crix]Ashra thinks to herself... What's Tea-vee...?
- [00:17] * NomDeNarrateur kicks Ashra out of his narration
- [00:19] <NomDeNarrateur> "Jonathan Christophe Hamilton, in full. If that rolls off the tongue too well, you can call me Jon. Or Chris. Or Hamilton. No difference to me."
- [00:19] * [Rut]Laure promptly steps forward and extends a hand.
- [00:20] <NomDeNarrateur> "Hello, hello, hello."
- [00:20] <NomDeNarrateur> The man shakes
- [00:20] <[Rut]Laure> A pleasure to meet you, Jonathan. My name is Laure Blanc.
- [00:21] <NomDeNarrateur> "So I hear, so I hear. Laure, Ashra and Millie, yes?"
- [00:21] * [Atai]Millie nods to him.
- [00:21] <[Atai]Millie> Yep.
- [00:21] <NomDeNarrateur> "That's good, that's good. Much better than if you weren't, at any rate."
- [00:22] <[Crix]Ashra> I like being in one piece.
- [00:23] <NomDeNarrateur> "Hey, so do I! We'll definitely get along, then."
- [00:27] <NomDeNarrateur> Jon: "Now that introductions are over with, I'll get to the unpleasant business stuff."
- [00:27] <NomDeNarrateur> He clears his throat solemnly.
- [00:28] <NomDeNarrateur> "As ladies in your field must know, there are quite a lot of...
- [00:28] <NomDeNarrateur> ...'interest groups' working tirelessly to make this world a better place."
- [00:29] <[Crix]Ashra> Oh! Like the Knights Templar! Or are we the Knights Templar...
- [00:30] <NomDeNarrateur> "Like them. And people like them. There are a lot of little organisations like that around. Heaps."
- [00:30] <NomDeNarrateur> "So I really should congratulate you on pissing them all off at once. Good work, ladies!"
- [00:31] <NomDeNarrateur> Jon applauds with vigor.
- [00:31] <[Crix]Ashra> I didn't really do much, except fall out of window.
- [00:32] * [Rut]Laure smiles amicably.
- [00:32] <[Rut]Laure> How quaint~
- [00:32] <NomDeNarrateur> "Oh, I'm sure you all had a part in this fine collective achievement. No need to be so humble."
- [00:33] * [Atai]Millie is not quite so sure he's not pissed off.
- [00:35] <NomDeNarrateur> "Unfortunately, as much as I personally appreciate your efforts, the powers that rather that your achievements are scaled down from now on. You have them all in agreement on this one. It's astounding, it really is."
- [00:35] * [Crix]Ashra has a big smile on her face. She likes JCH.
- [00:37] <NomDeNarrateur> "They don't want you freelancing about anymore, you see. That's where I come in. Whatever your previous allegience or contractual obligations, they are void. You are now with me. I'm afraid that's not as flattering as I would wish it to be."
- [00:39] <NomDeNarrateur> Jon tries to rear up a bit to make up for it, but of course can't because he's in a bloody wheelchair
- [00:39] <[Rut]Laure> ... I see. And what might be the terms and duration of this 'agreement'?
- [00:40] <[Atai]Millie> Most of 'em were pricks anyhow.
- [00:41] <NomDeNarrateur> "There are none. I am your leash. Until you hear otherwise that's how it is. Trust me when I say that I have no say in this whatsoever."
- [00:41] <[Crix]Ashra> I supposed I didn't have anything else planed.
- [00:41] <[Atai]Millie> You seem like a friendly sort, though. You stabbing us in the back now, or later?
- [00:41] * [Rut]Laure is not smiling.
- [00:42] <[Atai]Millie> Kinda hoping for now.
- [00:42] <[Rut]Laure> ... You have no say? This may have to be remedied.
- [00:42] * [Atai]Millie snickers.
- [00:42] <NomDeNarrateur> "None at all. But this does not have to be an unpleasant relationship. I'm not the stabbing sort, anyway. Just look at me."
- [00:43] * [Atai]Millie looks at him.
- [00:43] <[Crix]Ashra> With some oil we could probably change that.
- [00:43] * [Rut]Laure chuckles. Hollow.
- [00:43] <[Rut]Laure> I suppose not. Are there any other arrangements we should be aware of?
- [00:43] <[Atai]Millie> ...Ehh... for all I know you're faking it, or you've got some kind of spring-loaded dart gun in the handles.
- [00:44] * [Atai]Millie scratches her chin in thought, and adds:
- [00:44] <[Atai]Millie> Or both.
- [00:44] <NomDeNarrateur> Jon grins. He lifts up the handles of his wheelchairs, to indeed reveal a pair of dart guns. But they are not loaded.
- [00:45] <[Crix]Ashra> Ah, how rude Millie, pointing out concealed weapons.
- [00:46] * [Atai]Millie grins back.
- [00:47] <[Atai]Millie> Hmm.
- [00:47] <NomDeNarrateur> Jon conceals his wares again
- [00:47] <[Atai]Millie> You're my kind of bastard, Jon.
- [00:47] * [Atai]Millie only now shakes his hand.
- [00:47] <NomDeNarrateur> Millie: Jon shakes
- [00:48] <NomDeNarrateur> "That's good. We're on the same side here. Really, we are."
- [00:49] <NomDeNarrateur> "Before I move on...question? Suggestions? Violent objections?"
- [00:50] * [Rut]Laure says nothing.
- [00:50] * [Crix]Ashra looks over to NgMui as 'violent' is mentioned
- [00:51] * NgMui doesn't look at anyone, and patiently waits.
- [00:51] <[Atai]Millie> Nah, just curious. So, scaling down ...how?
- [00:52] <[Atai]Millie> Like, local politics? 'cause it would sort of suck to go around killing mayors and councilmen or forcing them to vote one way or the other.
- [00:52] <NomDeNarrateur> "Excellent. That's the next point."
- [00:52] <[Atai]Millie> Kinda hoping we can at least stay national.
- [00:54] <[Crix]Ashra> A nation is nothing without it's loyal citiziens.
- [00:56] <[Atai]Millie> Sure, but sometimes they need to be loyal elsewhere. Like at the bottom of a harbor, if the need arises.
- [00:56] <NomDeNarrateur> "Let me get something straight first, ladies. If I had it my way, I would be happy retiring in my country home without getting bothered by little schemes. But that's not how it works."
- [00:56] <[Atai]Millie> Or in the Senate.
- [00:56] <[Atai]Millie> ...Me too.
- [00:57] * [Atai]Millie reflects that she would first need a country home to retire to.
- [00:58] <[Rut]Laure> How, then, -does- it work, Mr. Hamilton?
- [00:58] * [Rut]Laure is losing patience, though she would not in 1000 years show it.
- [00:59] <NomDeNarrateur> "The way it works is that I am now your handler. You now work for me. No more, no less. There are much better positions to be had--from what people tell you, every other position is better if had--but you're stuck with me."
- [01:00] <NomDeNarrateur> "The idea is that you'll do what I say, and I'll keep you out of trouble. Ridiculous, I know. But someone thought it was a good idea at the time, and I was not in the position to argue."
- [01:00] * [Atai]Millie was kind of getting that sort of vibe from what was being said.
- [01:01] * [Crix]Ashra doesn't want to be a sex slave ;__;
- [01:02] <[Crix]Ashra> Just what kind of things will you have us do?
- [01:02] <NomDeNarrateur> "Hmmm."
- [01:02] <[Atai]Millie> As long as it doesn't involve bedding us or hard labor, I'm fine.
- [01:02] <NomDeNarrateur> "Do the groceries. Perhaps make lunch. Oh, and clean out the basement, it's filthy."
- [01:03] <[Atai]Millie> ...
- [01:03] <[Crix]Ashra> w-what
- [01:03] <[Atai]Millie> You weren't kidding about the scaling down, were you?
- [01:03] * [Atai]Millie laughs.
- [01:04] * [Crix]Ashra frowns. She didn't leave home to be a MAID!
- [01:04] <[Atai]Millie> We really pissed folks off, didn't we?
- [01:04] <NomDeNarrateur> "Now and again you might have to talk to interesting people and make them tell you interesting things And such. Otherwise, we live in the middle of nowhere, ladies. This is the kind of profile we're keeping."
- [01:06] <[Atai]Millie> We still have real work, then...?
- [01:06] * [Atai]Millie shrugs.
- [01:06] <[Atai]Millie> Okay.
- [01:07] <NomDeNarrateur> "Yearning, hard, dishonest labour, are we? I certainly can use the cash, so I can't rule out part time jobs."
- [01:08] <[Atai]Millie> Eh. It's not the Foreign Legion, and it's not a Siberian mining camp. As far as exiles go, this isn't bad.
- [01:08] * [Rut]Laure sighs. Perhaps it is not all bad. It isn't beyond what she had expected, and she could make use of the downtime.
- [01:09] <[Atai]Millie> I mean, if the price to pay for not freezing to death or getting shanked by a raghead is dressing up and look pretty while I'm doing chores the other 6 days out of the week, I can't really argue.
- [01:10] <NomDeNarrateur> "Maybe not 6 days. I mean, I really -do- need the money. But don't tell anyone."
- [01:10] <NomDeNarrateur> Jon winks
- [01:10] * [Atai]Millie grins.
- [01:10] <[Atai]Millie> I'd ask where to sign up, but you already covered the not-your-choice bit.
- [01:11] <NomDeNarrateur> "I am allowed, of course, to give you the option of walking out the door right now, but I can't vouch for what may or may not happen should you do so."
- [01:12] <[Crix]Ashra> I could go home, but I wanted to experience more first.
- [01:13] <NomDeNarrateur> "Not even you, Ashra, I'm afraid. There was a deal and then...well, let's not get into that."
- [01:13] <NomDeNarrateur> Jon clears his throat
- [01:14] * [Crix]Ashra feels very small, like she is the one in a wheelchair.
- [01:14] <NomDeNarrateur> "Enough of what you will be doing for me. Onto what I can do for you. Happens to be quite a bit, though that might sound rich coming from a punk in a wheelchair."
- [01:14] <[Rut]Laure> Mm... the idea of a vacation does appeal to me. Not that I plan to ignore any duties you might assign to me, Mr. Hamilton. Thank you for having us.
- [01:15] * [Rut]Laure gives a polite skirtless curtsey.
- [01:16] <NomDeNarrateur> "Please, -Mr- Hamilton was my father. Ok, that's a lie, but we can afford some more solidarity."
- [01:17] <[Atai]Millie> And do we have to dress up and look pretty while doing work around here?
- [01:17] * [Atai]Millie raises this question after some thought.
- [01:17] <[Crix]Ashra> Do you have something in purple?
- [01:17] * [Rut]Laure chortles, this time sounding somewhat more sincere.
- [01:17] <[Crix]Ashra> Maybe a bit darker then my hair.
- [01:18] <[Rut]Laure> Oh my, Miss Millie, you seem to be looking forward to this.
- [01:18] <[Crix]Ashra> Millie seems the type to like leather.
- [01:19] <[Atai]Millie> Nah, just being practical. I know I'd demand that from each of you.
- [01:19] <[Atai]Millie> ...Were I in his place, anyway.
- [01:19] * [Atai]Millie points a thumb to Jon.
- [01:19] <[Crix]Ashra> W-what are you implying?
- [01:19] <[Rut]Laure> Ohh~ Would you? I was not aware you were like that, Miss...
- [01:20] <NomDeNarrateur> "Ah yes, one of things I -can- do for you is supply you. Disguises, gear, transport, whatever. I'm a can do man."
- [01:20] <[Atai]Millie> "Like that"? Like what? Able to empathize?
- [01:21] <NomDeNarrateur> "I also support on the field. Not personally, but I'm sure I know a guy who knows a guy."
- [01:22] <[Atai]Millie> Hmm.
- [01:23] <[Rut]Laure> Ahaha, touché, Miss Millie! And your offered support is appreciated, Jonathan.
- [01:24] <[Atai]Millie> Sounds reasonable enough.
- [01:24] * [Rut]Laure doesn't seem bothered by the barb at all.
- [01:25] <NomDeNarrateur> Jon looks at the motley crew he has now assembled with a slightly truobled expression.
- [01:27] <NomDeNarrateur> "I'll leave you ladies alone then, unless you have any questions? I'll be down below; make yourself at home."
- [01:27] * [Rut]Laure shakes her head.
- [01:27] <[Crix]Ashra> Do we have new clothes, and rooms? Oh and I'm hungry.
- [01:28] <NomDeNarrateur> "Oh, there's plenty of rooms, just pick one out for yourself."
- [01:28] <NomDeNarrateur> Jon doesn't look like he really wants to bother with these things, and starts wheeling away
- [01:28] <[Atai]Millie> Should we get to work now, or do we have the day off?
- [01:28] * NgMui leaves as well, to the bath room, or wherever she may wash.
- [01:29] <[Crix]Ashra> Let's go pick out rooms millie!
- [01:31] <[Atai]Millie> ...Okay.
- [01:32] <[Crix]Ashra> Let's find one on the second floor! So you can accidently fall out of window.
- [01:32] <NomDeNarrateur> "Do whatever. Get some rest."
- [01:32] * NomDeNarrateur waves as he leaves
- [01:33] * [Rut]Laure isn't there anymore. A door closing can be heard somewhere upstairs.
- [01:34] <[Atai]Millie> 'Night.
- [01:34] * [Atai]Millie waves to the departing figure.
- [01:34] * [Atai]Millie turns to Ashra.
- [01:34] <[Atai]Millie> ...I don't like your room criteria.
- [01:35] <NomDeNarrateur> "Oh, Mui?"
- [01:35] <NomDeNarrateur> Jon turns around for a spell before he disappears through a door
- [01:36] <NomDeNarrateur> "Try and get along, OK?"
- [01:36] <[Crix]Ashra> Why not, it's always warmer on the second floor, and there is a better view.
- [01:37] * [Atai]Millie was going to choose a second-floor room anyway, but shrugs.
- [01:37] <[Atai]Millie> Whatever.
- [01:37] <[Atai]Millie> I'm not sleeping with you, though.
- [01:38] <NomDeNarrateur> "That's right. If anyone of them need anything, show them around, OK? It's about time you worked on your friendly face."
- [01:39] <[Crix]Ashra> Ugh, I never suggested such I thing.
- [01:39] <NomDeNarrateur> Jon isn't sure if Mui heard him, but wheels of anyway
- [01:39] * [Atai]Millie shrugs again.
- [01:39] <[Atai]Millie> Just covering the bases.
- [01:42] * NgMui , after washing off the blood, sweat, and foliage(damnedable bush), goes to find the master.
- [01:44] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: The master is downstairs (which may be accessed either via stairs, an access ramp, or an elevator)
- [01:44] * NgMui goes downstairs.
- [01:44] * [Crix]Ashra finds a room with a window looking out towards the back of the manor, she also sees that inside the room there are _____
- [01:45] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: there's not much downstairs, really. Most of it has been reserved for the master's private gaming room, where he likes to spend most of his time
- [01:46] * NgMui looks for the master, not his private gaming room.
- [01:47] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: The master is in the game room, you twit
- [01:48] <[Crix]Ashra> [WHAT'S IN THE ROOM NOM]
- [01:48] <NomDeNarrateur> [I ONLY HAVE ON KEYBOARD]
- [01:48] <[Atai]Millie> [I HAVE TWELVE]
- [01:48] <NgMui> [I DIDN'T ASK FOR A ROOM, JUST A MASTER]
- [01:48] <NomDeNarrateur> [WRITE THIS DESCRIPTION THEN]
- [01:48] <NgMui> [WHY ARE YOU FORCING YOUR ROOMS UPON ME, NOM]
- [01:49] * NgMui finds the master in some room downstairs
- [01:49] <NomDeNarrateur> [YOU'LL TAKE YOUR ROOMS AND YOU WILL LIKE IT]
- [01:49] <NgMui> Master.
- [01:50] * [Crix]Ashra Finds barrels of money in her room, unbelieving, she blinks and rubs her eyes, and the barrels form into a large bureau.
- [01:52] <NomDeNarrateur> Ahsra: all the rooms are spacious and tidy; it's evident that most of them have not been used for some time. That's not to say they are unfurnished; every one has a queen-sized bed, a wardrobe of clothes, and useful bits of furniture. It may be that Jon's house once freqeuently entertained guests...or 'guests'. In any case, there is one which overlooks the garden, though it is pretty much a...
- [01:52] <NomDeNarrateur> ...carbon copy of the rest .
- [01:52] <NomDeNarrateur> Ashra: the room explodes, and you die
- [01:53] <NomDeNarrateur> But you get better
- [01:53] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: the master is sitting at a blackjack table, messing about with cards
- [01:54] <NomDeNarrateur> "Care to join me, Mui? It's no fun by myself."
- [01:54] * NgMui seats herself locally, crossing her arms and legs.
- [01:54] <NgMui> I'm sorry. I don't know how to play.
- [01:55] <NomDeNarrateur> Jon deals you in anyway
- [01:55] <NgMui> I've come to ask you something. Could you quit calling me "Ng Mui"?
- [01:56] * [Crix]Ashra looks out into the hallway to see if Millie followed her.
- [01:56] <NomDeNarrateur> "It's pretty simple. Each of these cards represent a value, ranging from 1 to 11--oh."
- [01:57] <NgMui> It's of no offense, of course, but I would prefer it if that name wasn't heard anymore.
- [01:58] <NomDeNarrateur> "You're not at the age where you should get disatisfied with your own, you know."
- [01:58] * [Atai]Millie is looking at the room 2 rooms away. It seems nice and boring.
- [01:59] <[Atai]Millie> I like this one.
- [01:59] <NgMui> It's not mine anymore.
- [01:59] <NomDeNarrateur> Mishra: It's actually kinda uncanny, how each room is arranged exactly like each other.
- [01:59] <NgMui> And it's a bit archaic, anyway.
- [01:59] <NomDeNarrateur> Jon sighs
- [02:00] <NomDeNarrateur> "Very well. I shall no longer use your name, mindslave."
- [02:00] <[Crix]Ashra> Oh, I wonder what the room is inbetween ours is.
- [02:00] * [Crix]Ashra looks into the other room
- [02:01] <NomDeNarrateur> Ashra: Lo and behold, it is just like yours
- [02:01] <NomDeNarrateur> "...Ok, that's not wasn't very funny."
- [02:01] <NgMui> ?
- [02:02] * NgMui didn't get the joke.
- [02:02] <NomDeNarrateur> "Never mind, forget it. So, did you just want to dehumanise yourself, or do you keep some other name around for spares?"
- [02:03] <NgMui> Hmm. Do you have a favorite name?
- [02:03] <NomDeNarrateur> Jon replies immediately
- [02:04] * [Crix]Ashra tosses her sheathed rapier onto her bed and goes back downstairs to search for a kitchen before heading to bed.
- [02:05] <NomDeNarrateur> "Mary Susan"
- [02:05] <NgMui> "Mary Susan"?
- [02:07] <NomDeNarrateur> Ashra: the kitchen also looks unused, which makes it a mystery what Jon actually eats around here. It's fully stocked though, and the food in the pantry nearby looks fresh.
- [02:08] <NgMui> Is that your daughter's name or something? I was unaware you had a child.
- [02:08] <NomDeNarrateur> "Lilly Sweetheart."
- [02:09] <NomDeNarrateur> "Susy Goodness."
- [02:10] * NgMui sighs.
- [02:10] <MarySue> I suppose I'll go with "Mary Susan" then.
- [02:10] <NomDeNarrateur> Jon makes a picture frame with his fingers
- [02:11] <NomDeNarrateur> "...No, please don't. It was a joke."
- [02:11] <NomDeNarrateur> Jon physically convulses hearing Mui call herself that
- [02:11] * MarySue smiles.
- [02:11] <MarySue> What's wrong with Mary?
- [02:12] <MarySue> Not many English words sound nice, but this one does to me... rings just like a bell.
- [02:12] <NomDeNarrateur> "it's totally, totally wrong. Do not say it ever again."
- [02:12] <MarySue> Heh.
- [02:12] <MarySue> Suzie Goodness, then?
- [02:12] * [Crix]Ashra makes finds some sliced meat and makes 2 sandwiches with mustard. She has a plate in each hand and goes back upstairs to give Millie one.
- [02:13] <NomDeNarrateur> "Argh! Stop!"
- [02:15] <SuzieQ> Fine, fine. How about "Wu Mei"? It means the same thing, but it's far more popular. There's literally millions of chinese women with that name.
- [02:16] <NomDeNarrateur> "Better. That's better."
- [02:16] <NomDeNarrateur> Jon breathes again
- [02:16] <NomDeNarrateur> "...Wait, what does that mean?"
- [02:18] <WuMei> "Wu" is the name of a Chinese kingdom from a very long time ago. "Ng" was the same, just in a different language.
- [02:19] <NomDeNarrateur> "Oh. Well. That's good. Wu Mei it is then. Did you want a passport to go with that?"
- [02:20] <WuMei> We have passports, now?
- [02:20] <NomDeNarrateur> "You could. We're flexible like that."
- [02:22] * WuMei shrugs.
- [02:22] <WuMei> If you think I'll need one.
- [02:23] <NomDeNarrateur> "Everyone needs one. Or ten. Anyway, was that all you wanted to ask?"
- [02:24] <NomDeNarrateur> Jon deals himself another card
- [02:24] <WuMei> That's all that comes to mind, yes. Is there anything I can do for you?
- [02:25] <NomDeNarrateur> "Dress up in revealing uniform and flirt with Millie."
- [02:26] <WuMei> You want me in something revealing?
- [02:26] * WuMei rolls her sleeve up to remind him of the burns covering her body.
- [02:27] <NomDeNarrateur> "Also, speak in an Ukrainian accent.and call Ashra'sweet'ums'"
- [02:28] <WuMei> I don't know how to speak in Ukrainian, and I don't know how to flirt. And... What's "sweet'ums"?
- [02:28] <NomDeNarrateur> Jon sighs
- [02:28] <NomDeNarrateur> Ashra: you find Millie agian with no problems
- [02:29] * [Atai]Millie is in her room, searching for traps.
- [02:29] <[Crix]Ashra> Oh, I made this for you Millie since I haven't seen you eat anything all night either.
- [02:29] <Andel> ...
- [02:29] <Andel> !
- [02:30] <Andel> [sorry]
- [02:30] <NomDeNarrateur> [Not Like I'm taking this very seriously either]
- [02:30] <WuMei> [it's not an excuse]
- [02:31] <NomDeNarrateur> "Nevermind, nevermind. Go and...socialise a bit. You can't do well in this business if your only facial expression scares young children."
- [02:32] <WuMei> There's no young children here.
- [02:32] <WuMei> Only very old ones.
- [02:32] * [Atai]Millie looks out from underneath the bed.
- [02:32] <[Crix]Ashra> Looking for loose change?
- [02:32] <[Atai]Millie> Oh. Thanks.
- [02:32] * WuMei leaves, at that remark.
- [02:33] <NomDeNarrateur> "Oh, just laugh already."
- [02:33] <NomDeNarrateur> Jon deals another card, and promptly busts
- [02:33] <[Atai]Millie> Among other things.
- [02:34] <[Crix]Ashra> The best place to look for lost trinkets is under seat cushions.
- [02:35] <[Atai]Millie> I'm keeping an eye out for mancatchers and punji sticks.
- [02:35] * [Crix]Ashra places the plate down on a small table
- [02:35] <[Crix]Ashra> What's a punji stick?
- [02:36] <NomDeNarrateur> Millie: you haven't found anything. But of course, that just makes it more suspicious
- [02:37] <[Crix]Ashra> I don't know why you are bothering looking for hidden things anyway, if someone wanted you dead there is a perfectly good ninja already in the house.
- [02:37] * [Atai]Millie goes back under the bed, and her voice filters out from underneath.
- [02:38] <[Atai]Millie> You dig a pit, and fill it with sharpened sticks
- [02:38] <[Atai]Millie> Bamboo, if you have it...
- [02:38] <[Atai]Millie> smear shit on the sticks, and cover up the pit.
- [02:38] <[Atai]Millie> at best, your enemy dies instantly.
- [02:39] <[Atai]Millie> at worst, he's horribly wounded, and, thanks to the shit, the wound is infected.
- [02:39] <[Crix]Ashra> How barbaric.
- [02:39] * [Atai]Millie crawls out from underneath.
- [02:40] <[Atai]Millie> Well, if you're a jungle savage who doesn't appreciate an honest white man, then you start making them.
- [02:40] <[Atai]Millie> Nasty things.
- [02:41] <[Crix]Ashra> So you lived a jungle previously?
- [02:42] <[Atai]Millie> Nope.
- [02:43] * [Atai]Millie reaches back under and pulls out the dish, and starts to eat.
- [02:43] <[Atai]Millie> Muh teefur dih, voh.
- [02:44] * [Crix]Ashra starts to eat her sandwhich, but doesn't talk with her mouth full. "Oh, what sort of teacher?"
- [02:45] <[Atai]Millie> Kahn 'at teeshis
- [02:45] * [Atai]Millie takes another bite.
- [02:46] <[Atai]Millie> 'Ev're good. You mayg'm?
- [02:47] <[Crix]Ashra> Yes, I did make them, we are the maids around here after all.
- [02:49] <[Atai]Millie> Hmm.
- [02:49] * [Atai]Millie imagines herself in a maid outfit.
- [02:49] * [Atai]Millie snickers.
- [02:50] * [Atai]Millie imagines flaunting her body while in a maid uniform.
- [02:50] * [Atai]Millie has to cover her mouth to keep from spraying food as she laughs.
- [02:52] <[Crix]Ashra> Please don't choke now.
- [02:52] * [Atai]Millie swallows before giggling again.
- [02:52] * [Atai]Millie seriouses up in a hurry.
- [02:53] <[Atai]Millie> I'm fine.
- [02:53] * [Atai]Millie takes another bite.
- [02:53] <[Crix]Ashra> I'm not too sure, you seemed to have something interesting on your mind.
- [02:55] <[Atai]Millie> Nuh-in, 'm fahn
- [02:57] * [Crix]Ashra starts eating her sandwhich again, "Uu ownt ownd eyek eht"
- [02:58] * [Atai]Millie finishes the last few bites, and brushes off her hands.
- [02:59] <[Atai]Millie> I'm dandy. Don't you worry.
- [03:11] <[Crix]Ashra> Anyway I guess I'll go clean myself off then go to bed, goodnight.
- [03:11] <[Atai]Millie> 'night.
- [03:12] <[Atai]Millie> Thanks, too.

- February 27
- [23:58] <NomDeNarrateur> [Last time, on Maidcraft: Not an RTS]
- [23:58] <NomDeNarrateur> [Everyone met their new master]
- [23:59] <[Atai]Millie> [maid rush kekekekeke]
- [23:59] <NomDeNarrateur> [Jon sucked at solitaire]
- [23:59] <MarySue> [I'm in this game too! :3~]
- [23:59] <NomDeNarrateur> [Mui changed for name for no reason]
- [23:59] <NomDeNarrateur> [Mary died a horrible death by dysentry]
- [23:59] <MarySue> [:<]
- [00:00] <MarySue> [the heck is a dysentry]
- [00:00] <[Crix]Ashra> [I was exploded, and died, but got better]
- [00:00] <[Atai]Millie> [dysentry is an illness]
- [00:01] <[Atai]Millie> [water-borne, iirc]
- [00:01] <WuMei> [I thought dysentery was an illness]
- [00:01] <NomDeNarrateur> [Dysentery is an intestinal infection that makes you diarrhea until you die]
- [00:01] <[Atai]Millie> [wow. bad times.]
- [00:02] <NomDeNarrateur> [Anyways]
- [00:02] *Global* [mink] Pardon the previous unexpected turbulence, one of our pilots, Jason feel asleep at the controls and didn't learn from last night, /msg Jason pay attention to wake him back up and thanks for flying Rizon!
- [00:02] <WuMei> [rizon, etc]
- [00:02] <NomDeNarrateur> [Damn it, global, get out of my game]
- [00:02] <NomDeNarrateur> [ANYWAYS]
- [00:03] <NomDeNarrateur> [A night passes in the Safe House (aka mansion). And lo, it is morning again. Rise and shine.]
- [00:05] <NomDeNarrateur> [At least, rise and shine before I send in ninja]
- [00:06] * [Atai]Millie wakes up and stretches.
- [00:06] * WuMei practices qigong before her morning exercises.
- [00:06] * [Atai]Millie Early to rise, and early to bed / makes a man healthy, wealthy and dead.
- [00:06] * [Atai]Millie looks back at his bed, and contemplates mortality.
- [00:06] * [Atai]Millie goes back to sleep.
- [00:06] * [Crix]Ashra doesn't want to wake up, but worries about ninjas and pulls the bed covers over her head
- [00:12] <NomDeNarrateur> Everyone: an intercom crackles to life
- [00:13] <NomDeNarrateur> Intercom: "Hello? Hello? ...How did this thing work again?"
- [00:14] * [Atai]Millie is awake again. Damn.
- [00:15] * [Atai]Millie decides to get the hell up anyway.
- [00:15] <NomDeNarrateur> Intercom: "I think it was this switch...no wait, that one. No no, it was all of them--"
- [00:15] <NomDeNarrateur> Everyone: A very loud burst of static erupts over the intercom
- [00:16] * WuMei maintains meditative focus.
- [00:16] * [Atai]Millie cringes as he gets dressed.
- [00:16] <[Crix]Ashra> ehhhhhh
- [00:17] <NomDeNarrateur> Intercom: "--I'm okay, I'm okay! I've figured it out--it's actually the button over here--"
- [00:17] * [Crix]Ashra gets out of bed and opens up her dresser to see what is inside it.
- [00:17] <NomDeNarrateur> Everyone: this time, a loud electronic screech
- [00:18] <NomDeNarrateur> Ashra: there are a variety of casual wear for either sex, a formal dress and a double breasted suit, and various uniforms
- [00:20] * [Rut]Laure is in the middle of her morning ritual; double-check the <DATA NOT FOUND> where she placed her equipment, quickly scan over the more obvious bug installation points in the room, open the blinds, make the bed, take a blood sample for a pH and content test to see if anything was introduced overni-- Oh, the intercom.
- [00:21] * [Atai]Millie looks in the wardrobe. All he brought was what he carried and the clothes on his back, which wasn't much. Maybe the John gave him something to wear.
- [00:21] * [Crix]Ashra looks for something in purple, something simple.
- [00:23] * [Atai]Millie will also need to dress to fit the occasion of the day. If in fact, there is one.
- [00:25] <NomDeNarrateur> Millie: your wardrobe is well stocked. It has, however, exactly the same contents as every other wardrobe in these rooms
- [00:25] * [Atai]Millie is pleasantly surprised.
- [00:26] * [Atai]Millie waits for Jon to go on before deciding on what to wear.
- [00:27] <NomDeNarrateur> Intercom: "Don't mind me, I'm just trying to figure out this--"
- [00:28] <NomDeNarrateur> @#$%!
- [00:29] * [Atai]Millie puts on a bathrobe and waits.
- [00:30] <NomDeNarrateur> "It's no good! Go on without me--"
- [00:30] <[Crix]Ashra> Is he dying out there...
- [00:30] <[Crix]Ashra> M-maybe the ninjas got him!
- [00:30] * [Atai]Millie -- After a moment or two of waiting -- gets up and looks at the intercom panel to see if it's a two-way thing, or what.
- [00:31] <NomDeNarrateur> Millie: it's not
- [00:31] <[Atai]Millie> Well, so much for that.
- [00:32] * [Atai]Millie heads out of the room, in a vaguely downstairs-y sort of direction
- [00:33] <NomDeNarrateur> Millie: below the second floor is the first floor. You have found the first floor.
- [00:33] * [Atai]Millie discovers that the house is not levitating. Good, that's one problem out of the way.
- [00:34] * [Atai]Millie ambles over towards the kitchen.
- [00:35] <NomDeNarrateur> Millie: the kitchen is as you, or rather, Ashra left it last night. A fine kitchen. A kitchen worthy of kitchenhood.
- [00:35] * [Crix]Ashra finishes dresses and decides it would be a good time for breakfast
- [00:36] * [Atai]Millie looks for some meat, some cheese, and some bread.
- [00:37] * WuMei stops her meditation for a moment, heaving a sigh. She tests her body for painful spots, and resumes qigong exercises that focus on control.
- [00:37] <NomDeNarrateur> "Ladies? Ladies? Once you're done with whatever you do in the mornings, er, come down and see me, alright? No rush--"
- [00:37] <NomDeNarrateur> More static follows
- [00:38] * [Rut]Laure slips into a casual dress and blouse. She equips one of her sleeve mechanisms (for her weapon) before leaving the room. Goodness, such a fuss... but there was no reason to panic. This was supposed to be her 'vacation', after all.
- [00:41] * [Rut]Laure makes her way down to find her host.
- [00:42] * [Crix]Ashra walks into the kitchen straightening out her purple knee-length skirt
- [00:42] <[Crix]Ashra> Well good morning Millie, what are you making?
- [00:43] * [Atai]Millie has made a sandwich, and holds it up.
- [00:44] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: mansion has a basement, and that seems a good place to search, but it is is a bit of a mess. The passages do not follow any architectural sense, and there are rooms everywhere.
- [00:44] <[Crix]Ashra> Hmm, I was sort of expecting pancakes or biscuits.
- [00:45] * [Atai]Millie gestures to the ingredients, which she has left out, and walks off towards wherever the mysterious voices in the walls come from.
- [00:45] * [Atai]Millie is eating.
- [00:45] * WuMei finishes exercising, puts on something comfortable and modest, and heads out the door to search for the master.
- [00:46] * [Atai]Millie is also wondering-- ooh, that's good roast beef --where the hell to find Jon. Did he mention where he was?
- [00:47] * [Crix]Ashra starts to toast some bread and slices pieces of cheese to lay ontop.
- [00:48] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: there is one particular room that stands out, though; a gaudy sign with flashing lights hangs above a set of double doors: 'THE SLEEVED TRUMP'
- [00:49] * [Crix]Ashra walks out of the kitchen with a piece of toast in her mouth wondering where everyone else has gone.
- [00:51] * [Atai]Millie hazily recalls something about "I'll be down below."
- [00:52] * [Atai]Millie decides to start opening likely-looking doors, or at least keep watch for a set of stairs.
- [00:52] <NomDeNarrateur> Millie: one door in particular tries far too hard to stand out
- [00:53] * WuMei considers the big bright sign to be completely ridiculous, and enters through the doors beneath.
- [00:53] * [Atai]Millie stares at the door, and takes a reflective bite of his roast-beef-and-cheddar sandwich.
- [00:53] <[Atai]Millie> Mmm.
- [00:53] * [Atai]Millie opens the door
- [00:55] * [Crix]Ashra hears noises downstairs, perhaps thats where everyone else is
- [00:55] * [Atai]Millie peers in.
- [00:55] <NomDeNarrateur> Everyone Except Ashra Who is Lost: you brave the one obvious door in this place. In side...there's no one inside
- [00:57] * [Atai]Millie remembers the story of a man who opened a box to find his own head inside.
- [00:57] <NomDeNarrateur> There is, however, a very large game room, cluttered with all sorts of Vegas-worthy accessories
- [00:58] <NomDeNarrateur> There is also a performance stage in the back. You hear a rather pathetic whine from backstage
- [00:58] <NomDeNarrateur> "Anyone there? Some help please? Please come check out the man behind the curtain."
- [00:58] * WuMei sighs, and steps past Millie in search of the master
- [00:59] <[Atai]Millie> Morning.
- [00:59] * [Crix]Ashra eventually finds the entrance to the basement and sees everyone else.
- [00:59] * [Atai]Millie turns back to see the others behind her.
- [00:59] <[Atai]Millie> ...I'm not some kind of room tester.
- [01:00] * [Atai]Millie steps in and holds the door open, gesturing them in.
- [01:00] <[Crix]Ashra> oh?
- [01:01] <[Crix]Ashra> If you insist
- [01:01] * [Crix]Ashra walks through the doorframe
- [01:05] * [Atai]Millie walks through after, and goes in search of Jon.
- [01:06] * [Rut]Laure goes backstage, where the voice came from.
- [01:06] <NomDeNarrateur> "That's right, this way...actually, I think I can get free now...hold on."
- [01:06] <NomDeNarrateur> Everyone: Jon tries to wheel himself onto the stage proper, still tangled to a bunch of wires
- [01:07] * [Atai]Millie is content to eat. Panic and effort are reserved for when he starts yelling or sounds like he's in pain.
- [01:07] * WuMei sighs, and helps him out.
- [01:07] * [Atai]Millie waves.
- [01:08] <[Atai]Millie> Morr'in.
- [01:08] <NomDeNarrateur> "Thank you, Ng--Wu Mei. Morning, ladies."
- [01:08] * [Rut]Laure giggles.
- [01:09] <[Crix]Ashra> humm..
- [01:09] <NomDeNarrateur> "Thanks for coming over so early. How did the accomodations suit you? Did you all have a good rest?"
- [01:10] <[Rut]Laure> Do you find yourself in such life-threatening situations often, Johnathan? And I had thought our time here was to be peaceful.
- [01:10] <[Atai]Millie> 'Ey w'r fnn.
- [01:10] <[Crix]Ashra> It was very good. Aside from the wake-up of course.
- [01:12] * WuMei keeps her opinion to herself, standing behind the wheelchair.
- [01:13] <NomDeNarrateur> "If you are rested up, I have something to propose to you all."
- [01:14] <[Atai]Millie> mm?
- [01:14] <[Rut]Laure> Certainly. Go on.
- [01:14] <NomDeNarrateur> "Let's go over to the table, shall we? It's nothing serious, so let's relax."
- [01:15] <[Crix]Ashra> I suppose.
- [01:15] <NomDeNarrateur> Jon gestures to a large poker table
- [01:15] * WuMei wheels him over to the large poker table.
- [01:17] <[Crix]Ashra> B-but I don't have any other souls to gamble with...
- [01:17] * [Atai]Millie is a little annoyed at being called soulless.
- [01:17] <[Crix]Ashra> Unless we are playing "strip poker" I've heard that it's popular.
- [01:18] <[Atai]Millie> Nnnmf.
- [01:18] <NomDeNarrateur> Jon deals everyone two cards out of habit, but doesn't really pay his cards much attention
- [01:19] * [Atai]Millie picks up the cards, and looks at them.
- [01:19] <[Crix]Ashra> Oh we are playing blackjack!
- [01:19] <NomDeNarrateur> "So, how do you ladies enjoy sitting around doing nothing?"
- [01:19] <[Crix]Ashra> I'm good at doing that.
- [01:19] <[Atai]Millie> ...I don't think the rules card is supposed to be in the deck, Jon.
- [01:19] * [Atai]Millie flicks back the How To Play card.
- [01:20] * [Rut]Laure just smiles and takes her hand up.
- [01:20] <NomDeNarrateur> Jon catches it, with a low "Whoops", but doesn't distract himself from the conversation
- [01:20] * [Crix]Ashra takes a look at her cards
- [01:21] <NomDeNarrateur> "Just to make sure you know how to play."
- [01:21] <NomDeNarrateur> "No excuses later."
- [01:21] * [Atai]Millie does smile briefly, at that.
- [01:21] <NomDeNarrateur> Jon winks, and deals Millie a fresh card
- [01:22] * [Atai]Millie looks at her two cards.
- [01:22] * [Atai]Millie has finished the sandwich.
- [01:26] <NomDeNarrateur> "Where was I? Ah, yes. How do you find a life of retirement, ladies?"
- [01:27] <[Crix]Ashra> But.. I just started.
- [01:27] * [Atai]Millie shrugs.
- [01:27] <[Atai]Millie> Haven't had much of it, yet.
- [01:27] <[Crix]Ashra> Are you trying to sell us house insurance?
- [01:28] <[Atai]Millie> Dunno what to think.
- [01:28] <[Atai]Millie> ...Isn't it his house?
- [01:28] <[Crix]Ashra> It's a trick.
- [01:29] <NomDeNarrateur> [In order: Ashra: J&Q; Laure 10&2, Millie: 6&K, Wu Mei 9 & 3]
- [01:29] <[Rut]Laure> Retired... Oh my, I'd like to think I've still got some years of work left in me.
- [01:31] <NomDeNarrateur> "Not at all, not at all. I'm just asking if you're content just bumming around all day."
- [01:33] <[Rut]Laure> Did you have something productive in mind, Johnathan~?
- [01:33] <[Crix]Ashra> Maybe 6 out of 7 days. Anyway I'll stand.
- [01:34] <[Atai]Millie> Stand. I wouldn't mind having something real to do.
- [01:36] <[Rut]Laure> Hit, please.
- [01:36] * WuMei doesn't know how to play Blackjack, and isn't particularly interested anyway
- [01:36] <NomDeNarrateur> "Well, I was thinking, it'd be rude of me to let you ladies go bored."
- [01:37] <NomDeNarrateur> Jon hits Laure with a 7
- [01:37] <[Atai]Millie> ...You have work?
- [01:38] <[Rut]Laure> My, such a gentleman~
- [01:38] <NomDeNarrateur> "Oh please, I can hardly call it work."
- [01:39] <[Atai]Millie> What is it?
- [01:41] <NomDeNarrateur> "Well, there's a business partner of mine, you see. Name's Magniosi. We did a bit of work together a while back, but we had a falling out. Still with me?"
- [01:42] <NomDeNarrateur> Jon drums his fingers rythmically on the deck
- [01:44] <[Crix]Ashra> uhuh...
- [01:45] * [Rut]Laure waits. Both for Jon to continue, and for the round of hits to finish.
- [01:46] <NomDeNarrateur> Jon probably knows Wu Mei doesn't really want to play, but he he hits her with a card anyway. A 10
- [01:47] <NomDeNarrateur> "Now, I need money to eat. And making the ends meet from now on might be difficult."
- [01:49] <[Rut]Laure> It is because there are more mouths to feed, or something else?
- [01:50] <NomDeNarrateur> "Things are going to come up. Probably. It's good to be able to live comfortably anyway, no?"
- [01:51] * [Atai]Millie nods.
- [01:51] <[Crix]Ashra> Living in style is always nice.
- [01:51] <[Atai]Millie> /Living/ is nice.
- [01:52] <NomDeNarrateur> "Is true. A bit of cash on hand would help."
- [01:52] <[Atai]Millie> So...?
- [01:52] * [Atai]Millie waves her hand in a go-on-already way
- [01:52] <[Crix]Ashra> Just 'living' is hardly something to strive for.
- [01:53] <[Atai]Millie> Beats the alternative.
- [01:53] <[Crix]Ashra> You'd be surprised.
- [01:53] <[Rut]Laure> There is more insight to that statement than one might think, Ashra.
- [01:53] <NomDeNarrateur> "Now, it just so happens that ol' Magniosi owes me a bit of a debt. It just came to me that now is a fine time to collect."
- [01:53] * [Rut]Laure sounds different when she speaks.
- [01:55] * WuMei blinks at Laure, but doesn't speak, returning her attention to the master.
- [01:55] <[Atai]Millie> Collect his money?
- [01:55] <[Atai]Millie> Or his head?
- [01:56] <[Crix]Ashra> A stand-off at dawn, pistols drawn!?
- [01:57] <NomDeNarrateur> ""Please. His head will hardly fetch enough to shine my shoes. He knows what I'm due. You just have to pick it up."
- [01:58] <NomDeNarrateur> "Well, maybe you'll need to give him a few harsh words. We did have a falling out, after all."
- [02:01] <[Crix]Ashra> Sound easy enough.
- [02:02] <NomDeNarrateur> "Bread and butter. Can you do this for me?"
- [02:03] <WuMei> Yes, sir.
- [02:03] <[Rut]Laure> Well, I suppose just sitting around won't do, now will it?
- [02:04] <[Atai]Millie> Certainly.
- [02:05] <NomDeNarrateur> "Excellent. I'll be counting on you all."
- [02:05] <NomDeNarrateur> Jon casually flips over an ace for himself, then wheels back from the table
- [02:05] <NomDeNarrateur> "Well, let me give you a few details before you go."
- [02:06] * [Atai]Millie sets her cards down.
- [02:06] <[Crix]Ashra> Details are helpful.
- [02:07] <NomDeNarrateur> Jon presses a button in his chair, gives a near by roulette wheel a spin, and a projector screen descends from the ceiling
- [02:07] * [Atai]Millie says nothing, but nods.
- [02:08] <NomDeNarrateur> Jon hits another button, and an image pops up on the screen
- [02:09] <NomDeNarrateur> "This fat mug you're seeing belongs to Magniosi. He used to be a strictly small time thug, but got into some pretty shady stuff later in his career. Run a casino now; money laundering, that sort of thing."
- [02:10] <NomDeNarrateur> Jon clicks another button
- [02:10] <NomDeNarrateur> A photo of a rich looking casino replaces Magniosi's repugnant face
- [02:11] <[Crix]Ashra> Oh this is much better.
- [02:12] <NomDeNarrateur> "Got himself quite a nice place these days. Almost makes me jealous. I think he's getting paranoid, though, because he coops himself in the VIP lounge all the damn time. Surrounds himself with bodyguards. Wonder what he's afraid of."
- [02:13] <NomDeNarrateur> Jon flips to an image of a vault door
- [02:14] <NomDeNarrateur> "Eh, whoops, wrong slide."
- [02:14] <NomDeNarrateur> Jon slips to an image of the VIP lounge
- [02:16] <NomDeNarrateur> "Don't ask me how I got this photo. Anyways, this place is for really high rollers, as well as Magniosi's special guests. As you can see from all the security, a lot of legitimate business is conducted here."
- [02:17] <[Crix]Ashra> I'm sure it's just a bridge club.
- [02:17] <NomDeNarrateur> "In that case, there's thousands of dollars going a rubber. These people take their bridge seriously."
- [02:18] <NomDeNarrateur> Jon turns the projector off, wondering to himself whether that all that investment into top of the line projection equipment was not all that useful
- [02:19] <NomDeNarrateur> "It's simple, really. Get yourself into the VIP lounge somehow, find Magniosi, squeeze him for my money. No big."
- [02:19] <WuMei> Is that all?
- [02:20] <NomDeNarrateur> "Well...yeah. Question time!"
- [02:20] <[Crix]Ashra> So, he isn't expecting you. At all.
- [02:20] <[Atai]Millie> What's the policy on his goons?
- [02:21] <[Atai]Millie> Kill, KO, creep past?
- [02:21] <[Atai]Millie> If the need arises.
- [02:22] <NomDeNarrateur> "I'd rather you keep it quiet. The more friendly the visit, the easier it is to clean up. I doubt Magniosi has he balls to get the police involved, though. so the money comes first."
- [02:22] <[Atai]Millie> Hmmm.
- [02:23] * [Atai]Millie It's not that Millie likes killing, but it IS just a lot easier that way.
- [02:23] <[Atai]Millie> Okay.
- [02:23] <[Rut]Laure> Is that so? We received rather substantial complaints the last time the objective was assigned priority...
- [02:23] * [Rut]Laure shrugs.
- [02:24] <[Crix]Ashra> I was never good at making plans.
- [02:25] <[Atai]Millie> I think that was because of the whole bomb thing.
- [02:25] <[Crix]Ashra> That bomb just made things more complicated, I hope you aren't supplying her with explosives again.
- [02:25] <[Atai]Millie> "Her"?
- [02:26] <NomDeNarrateur> "It's true that no one really cares about Magniosi's fat face, but at the same time I really would feel bad about civilian casualties
- [02:26] * [Atai]Millie looks around.
- [02:26] * [Rut]Laure smiles.
- [02:26] <[Rut]Laure> That's all you had to say~
- [02:26] <NomDeNarrateur> "The money is mine though. Take it out of Magniosi's pocket."
- [02:26] <WuMei> No damage to bystanders, then?
- [02:26] <[Atai]Millie> Oh, riiiight. Bomb-y little two-shoes.
- [02:26] <[Crix]Ashra> That, other girl, not the ninja but the other one.
- [02:27] <NomDeNarrateur> "Try, try, Wu Mei, not to kill anyone, OK? It'll be good for you."
- [02:27] <WuMei> Understood.
- [02:28] <[Rut]Laure> Mm, she is quite the killer, isn't she?
- [02:28] * [Rut]Laure gives Mei a strange look. Not hostile or mocking, just... strange.
- [02:28] <[Crix]Ashra> She's definitely good at destroying doors.
- [02:29] <WuMei> I'm not very good at falling into bushes.
- [02:29] * [Atai]Millie sees the look.
- [02:30] * [Atai]Millie hopes the dyke doesn't get any ideas about her.
- [02:30] <NomDeNarrateur> "How you want to work out the details is up to you. You're professionals, right? There is an acquaintance of mine who might be able to help you get in but...you know what? It'll probably be easier if you don't meet him."
- [02:32] <[Crix]Ashra> I'm a professional gardener!
- [02:34] <NomDeNarrateur> "That's...that's good. I think. Go er, pluck those weeds. Ahaha."
- [02:35] * [Crix]Ashra isn't very pleased at the response she gets.
- [02:36] <NomDeNarrateur> Jon hastily changes the subject
- [02:36] <NomDeNarrateur> "Well, if you need any gear before you go, I can arrange it for you. If not, I have a car coming to pick you up a bit later."
- [02:38] * [Rut]Laure gives Jon a sympathetic look, as if to say "-I- thought it was clever".
- [02:41] <[Atai]Millie> ...Okay.
- [02:42] <[Crix]Ashra> What if we pose as sellers of priceless treasures, I'm sure my sword looks pretty valuable.
- [02:42] <[Crix]Ashra> It's got Sapphires and diamonds in the hilt.
- [02:43] <[Atai]Millie> We'll keep that in mind if we need to hawk it.
- [02:45] <WuMei> Is there a map or blueprint of this place available?
- [02:45] <[Crix]Ashra> W-we aren't SELLING IT!
- [02:45] <[Crix]Ashra> It's just to get into the VIP lounge
- [02:45] <[Atai]Millie> well, I mean if, like... it turns out he has no money, or something
- [02:46] <[Atai]Millie> and he's really in debt
- [02:46] <[Atai]Millie> And we waste all that time for nothing...
- [02:46] <NomDeNarrateur> "I don't actually have a floorplan, but I can get you one. It's not a very complicated place. Probably."
- [02:46] * [Atai]Millie shrugs.
- [02:46] <[Atai]Millie> It'll need to come from somewhere.
- [02:47] <WuMei> Alright then. If there's nothing else to discuss, I'll be upstairs.
- [02:48] <[Crix]Ashra> Ehh, don't you have any ideas?
- [02:49] <[Rut]Laure> Hmm... what might I need, I wonder...
- [02:50] <WuMei> Ideas?
- [02:51] * WuMei scratches her chin.
- [02:51] <WuMei> No. Not really. Your idea sounds good enough.
- [02:51] <[Crix]Ashra> Well, alright then.
- [02:52] * [Crix]Ashra seems unsure of herself, people don't often rely on her.
- [02:55] <[Atai]Millie> It might work.
- [02:56] <WuMei> I'll be getting ready, then.
- [02:56] * WuMei leaves.
- [02:58] <[Crix]Ashra> I guess that's it then, is it lunch time yet?
- [02:58] <[Atai]Millie> ...We just ate breakfast.
- [03:01] * [Rut]Laure rises, curtseys, and goes to finish checking her blood culture. And sweep her room for explosives. And exposed gas pipes. And come to think of it, how strong was the glass on that window? And could the frame support a grown person's weight? And what about.....

- March 5
- [22:42] <NomDeNarrateur> [So, last time on Maidcraft: What the Hell is This?]
- [22:43] <NomDeNarrateur> [Things were happening again]
- [22:43] <NomDeNarrateur> [The mission, since they've chosen to accept it: Infiltrate's Magniosi's pad, bully him for lunch money]
- [22:49] <NomDeNarrateur> [The next act of our story opens in the big city, where our heroines have been dropped. Tip the driver and be on your way]
- [22:50] * WuMei makes sure to be on her way.
- [22:53] * WuMei stands at the sidewalk and wonders what the others are waiting on.
- [22:53] <NomDeNarrateur> [The big city has lots to offer a the aspring criminal. Eateries of all kinds, shops for every occassion, and lots of cheap lodging where people don't ask too many questions]
- [22:54] * [Atai]Millie follows the chink.
- [22:54] * [Crix]Ashra is carring her sword in a large flute case, with a combination lock. Walks over the the ninja.
- [22:54] <NomDeNarrateur> [Jon also apparently has an acquaintance here, but has warned you not to seek him out unless you're in unresolvable trouble]
- [22:56] <NomDeNarrateur> [SInce multiple choice is easier, here's what you can do: a) Go shopping b) find a place to stay c) find this acquaintance d) seek out Magniosi's casino]
- [22:57] <[Crix]Ashra> [S-shopping?!]
- [22:58] <NomDeNarrateur> [Shopping! What do you think this is, a railroad plot?]
- [22:59] <NomDeNarrateur> [Of course, there's always e) none of the above]
- [23:02] <WuMei> So, shall we do this right now, or do one of you have something else in mind?
- [23:03] <[Atai]Millie> I'm ready.
- [23:03] <[Crix]Ashra> [I'm assuming we are all properly dressed for a high class establishment]
- [23:04] <WuMei> [isn't this what OOC is for]
- [23:04] <NomDeNarrateur> [Let's pack a generic trunk: you have change of clothes, a toothbrush, some communications gear, a fake ID, and some money]
- [23:07] <[Atai]Millie> [works for me]
- [23:09] <NomDeNarrateur> [Laure goes and collects information and stuff!]
- [23:11] <[Atai]Millie> Ashra, are you ready?
- [23:11] <[Crix]Ashra> I-uh, suppose so.
- [23:11] * WuMei shrugs, and follows the directions to the casino.
- [23:12] <[Atai]Millie> Off we go.
- [23:14] <[Crix]Ashra> I wonder how big the casino is.
- [23:15] <[Atai]Millie> Large?
- [23:15] <[Crix]Ashra> A bunch of things are large, like trains, or a really large breakfast, but that's all very general.
- [23:18] <NomDeNarrateur> [It only takes a bit of travelling to reach the outskirts of town, where the casino is. Magniosi's casino is actually a real establishment, quite unlike Jon's half-assed attempt in his basement. It is, as casinos go, a popular place, and you can almost hear the sound of millions of dollars passing through the doors. It is necessary, then, that the security is top notch. There is no doubt...
- [23:18] <NomDeNarrateur> ...that every table is under surveillance.]
- [23:21] * WuMei steps in.
- [23:22] * [Atai]Millie points to the main room.
- [23:22] <[Atai]Millie> That big.
- [23:23] <[Crix]Ashra> Oh, that IS big.
- [23:24] <NomDeNarrateur> Wu Mei: as you enter, two men dressed in official attire approach to flank you. A third man, a wispy fellow compared to the other two, comes up to greet you
- [23:25] * WuMei sighs, and listen to what the little man has to say.
- [23:26] <NomDeNarrateur> Concierge: "Greetings! Welcome to the Denaro di Mano. Is this your first time here?"
- [23:28] * WuMei plays deaf and dumb and points to the others.
- [23:28] <[Crix]Ashra> Oh she did not just do that..
- [23:30] * [Atai]Millie swears a little, inside. She hates having the buck passed down.
- [23:31] <[Crix]Ashra> Ah, hello, you will have to excuse our bodyguard, she isn't much for chit-chat. We are here as...merchants of a sort.
- [23:31] * WuMei laughs on the inside. They like to talk so much? Let them.
- [23:31] * [Atai]Millie goes to speak, then stops. Sure, chat 'em up, kid.
- [23:32] <NomDeNarrateur> Concierge: "Aah...is that so? I thought you were guests. Indeed, rarely does anyone come through these doors except to savour the exquisite entertainment of the Denaro di Mano."
- [23:33] <[Crix]Ashra> Ha! You think we would pass up all the games?
- [23:33] <[Crix]Ashra> There must be so much to do here..
- [23:34] <[Atai]Millie> But there is business to attend to, first, no?
- [23:34] <NomDeNarrateur> The concierge laughs as well, but a but hesitantly
- [23:36] <NomDeNarrateur> Concierge: "Ah, perhaps you are confused, my ladies? The only business that the Denaro di Mano engages in is entertainment. -Only- entertainment."
- [23:39] * [Atai]Millie sighs softly, and goes for the vixen approach.
- [23:40] <[Atai]Millie> Ah... is that so?
- [23:40] <[Atai]Millie> That's such a shame... And here I thought Mr. Magniosi would have been delighted to see this.
- [23:41] <NomDeNarrateur> The concierge starts to sweat a bit under the collar
- [23:41] * [Atai]Millie sighs despondently, showing some leg in the process. How she manges that, god knows
- [23:41] <[Atai]Millie> I... I guess it can't be helped.
- [23:41] * [Crix]Ashra wonders to herself, are men that weak willed here?
- [23:42] <NomDeNarrateur> Concierge "Please, my lady, we are an esteemed and definitely legal establishment. Mr Magniosi would have it no other way. Really."
- [23:42] <[Atai]Millie> "Legal"?
- [23:42] <NomDeNarrateur> He's starting to panic. A combination of confusion and fluster.
- [23:42] <[Atai]Millie> Are... are you accusing us of having some ... some sort of underhanded dealings?
- [23:43] * [Atai]Millie looks about ready to cry or throw herself off a bridge.
- [23:43] <NomDeNarrateur> "Yes! I mean no! We're nothing but forthright! Ha ha! We're the Denaro di Mano! Ha ha!"
- [23:43] <[Crix]Ashra> We aren't some sort of traveling bazzar here.
- [23:44] <NomDeNarrateur> The concierge starts giving looks to his guards. He obviously needs help.
- [23:46] <[Atai]Millie> We merely wished to speak to Mr. Magniosi if he would be interested in Miss Oak's antique wares. They are highly prized across Europe, and she only approaches those she believes display a certain discriminating taste.
- [23:46] * [Atai]Millie pats Ashra's shoulder gently at "Miss Oak"
- [23:46] * [Crix]Ashra tries to put on a serene smile
- [23:47] <NomDeNarrateur> "Ah, um, yes."
- [23:47] * WuMei stands aside, watching everyone speak just like a real deaf person. It takes a good deal of willpower not to grimace or laugh outright at some of their suggestions.
- [23:48] <NomDeNarrateur> Maybe this guy is new on the job, because he doesn't really look like he knows what to do when approached like this. All he does is greet guests and get drinks. He doesn't get involved in this stuff. Ever.
- [23:48] <[Crix]Ashra> We'll be getting on our way now, toodles~
- [23:49] <[Atai]Millie> Indeed... Good day, gentlemen.
- [23:49] * [Crix]Ashra grabs Millie and the artist formerly know as Ngmui and pulls them away
- [23:49] <NomDeNarrateur> "No, wait. Maybe I should, um, ask my management about this. Yes? You probably want to talk to them, yes?"
- [23:49] * [Atai]Millie holds up.
- [23:49] <[Atai]Millie> ...Really...?
- [23:49] * [Crix]Ashra almost falls over at the sudden stoppage
- [23:49] * WuMei catches Ashra.
- [23:49] <[Atai]Millie> It... we'd be ever so grateful if you would.
- [23:50] <NomDeNarrateur> "I am just a humble employee. I don't, er, know what you're talking about. I just, ah, make guests feel at home. That's all."
- [23:51] <[Crix]Ashra> Oh, you are making him blush.
- [23:51] <[Atai]Millie> That's all right, sir... I understand how it is.
- [23:51] * [Atai]Millie is still putting on a sultry sort of look
- [23:54] <NomDeNarrateur> "Would you like to try some of our games, then? That's what I, er, usually do. Introduce you to our fine range of games. Very fine. What every guests should come for."
- [23:55] * [Atai]Millie suppresses a growl of irritation. They're getting nowhere.
- [23:56] <[Crix]Ashra> Why, that's exactly where we were going.
- [23:56] <[Crix]Ashra> until you stopped us Millie...
- [23:59] <NomDeNarrateur> "Would you like to hear the rules, ladies? Er, estabilshment policies? If this is your first time, I mean."
- [00:00] <[Atai]Millie> Certainly.
- [00:03] <NomDeNarrateur> The concierge seems back in his element now, and is much more confident
- [00:05] <NomDeNarrateur> "Most of our guidelines, including our dress code, is available on the wall to your left. Finer minutae on tax, surcharges, and game rules are available in our various brochures, which I encourage you to peruse. We do not deal directly in cash in the Danero di Mano; you can trade for chips, which you may spend as you wish while in this estabilshment, and you may cash them out when you leave."
- [00:07] <NomDeNarrateur> "If you have no questions, then proceed to the counter, and I shall go see my boss about your, er, trade? Yes? Good day?"
- [00:08] <[Crix]Ashra> Yes, please do, have a good day.
- [00:08] * [Atai]Millie nods, and gives a little wave.
- [00:08] * [Crix]Ashra reads the guidelines on the wall.
- [00:09] <NomDeNarrateur> Ashra: they're very generic codes about liability, serving alcohol, not being able to take chips outside, and of course the dress code, which you have no trouble meeting
- [00:12] <NomDeNarrateur> The concierge, meanwhile, shuffles off. His two lackeys, if lackeys they were, follow him impassionately, as they always have
- [00:13] * [Crix]Ashra walks into the casino lobby looking for a teller to exchange chips.
- [00:16] <NomDeNarrateur> Ashra: at a counter near the entrance there is a teller, sitting behind a window of steel bars
- [00:17] * [Crix]Ashra turns around to see where everyone else is.
- [00:17] * WuMei is right behind Ashra.
- [00:18] * [Atai]Millie is looking around the place, first.
- [00:18] <[Atai]Millie> looking politely tourist-y
- [00:19] <[Crix]Ashra> Just because you look like a burnt orange doesn't mean you have to be mute.
- [00:20] * [Atai]Millie bites her lip to keep from laughing
- [00:22] <NomDeNarrateur> Millie: Chandeliers! Cocktail bars! Lots of expensive clothing! Magniosi sure does well for himself. Why, some of those paintings on the walls might even be genuine
- [00:23] * WuMei shrugs and smiles.
- [00:25] <[Crix]Ashra> Tsh, I suppose we should play some games to fit in.
- [00:28] * WuMei isn't interested, but follows Ashra around and scopes the place out anyhow.
- [00:31] <NomDeNarrateur> [Casino games! As might be found in casinos! Er...yes.]
- [00:32] * [Crix]Ashra spends 3 favres worth of monies for that amount of chips. You know.
- [00:34] * [Atai]Millie cashes in three as well.
- [00:35] <[Crix]Ashra> You should play too, uh hmm what was your name, NigMe?
- [00:35] <NomDeNarrateur> Mishra: the teller counts out your money, and hands you some chips. You may play with those chips, but of course everything is less interesting in text. Feel free to employ your stats in creative manners as you do so.
- [00:37] * [Atai]Millie goes to the first game she knows fucking nothing about, and has the dealer explain the rules to her. What the fuck is "baccarat"?
- [00:37] <WuMei> Mei. And sorry, I'm not interested in gambling. I'll watch you play.
- [00:37] <[Crix]Ashra> Well, ok.
- [00:38] * [Atai]Millie places 2ℱ in chips down as a bet.
- [00:40] * [Crix]Ashra notices bright flashing lights and high-pitched noises coming from boxy machines, the slot machines.
- [00:42] <NomDeNarrateur> Ashra: the slot machines are advertised as all being winners. Of course, this must be a lie as you see more than one set of unhappy shoulders sagging as the machine refuses to deliver the last 7
- [00:45] <NomDeNarrateur> Millie: you go in blind...but the cards are just totally in your favour today. The banker has nothing on you, and you easily double your 2ℱ
- [00:45] * [Atai]Millie claps gleefully, and saunters away
- [00:46] * [Atai]Millie +after collecting
- [00:47] * [Crix]Ashra spends 1ℱ of chips into a random slot machine.
- [00:47] <NomDeNarrateur> Ashra: there are various combinations you can go for, each with a different difficulting
- [00:49] <NomDeNarrateur> The easiest will get you your money back, the second hardest will give you 1ℱ, the third hardest will give you 2ℱ, while the jackpot will give you 1d6ℱ
- [00:50] <[Crix]Ashra> Well, I suppose since the nature of gambling is to give it everything you have...
- [00:50] * [Crix]Ashra attempts to get the jackpot
- [00:51] =-= Mode #maidrpg +qo Tetrominon Tetrominon by ChanServ
- [00:52] * [Crix]Ashra pulls the lever, engaging the machine in a staring contest.
- [00:53] <NomDeNarrateur> Ashra: the wheels start to spiiiiin! Damn, they're fast! There's...2? sevens in the first reel
- [00:55] <NomDeNarrateur> Ah, snap! You missed!
- [00:56] <[Crix]Ashra> Well that was expected.
- [00:57] <NomDeNarrateur> Wu Mei: as your colleagues indulge in fun and games, you see three men coming in your direction. These are all the big, burly sort. They very interested in watching Millie play
- [00:58] * [Atai]Millie looks around for something else to play.
- [00:59] <NomDeNarrateur> Millie: this narrator only knows how to play blackjack, and is sad
- [00:59] <[Crix]Ashra> I guess I'll try again...
- [00:59] * [Crix]Ashra pulls the lever for jackpot again.
- [00:59] * [Atai]Millie sighs, and guesses she'll play something NORMAL. Sheesh.
- [01:02] <[Crix]Ashra> Alright slot machine, I promise you a good place in machine hell if you let me win.
- [01:05] * [Atai]Millie goes to the blackjack table.
- [01:07] <NomDeNarrateur> Millie: the men who seemed to have been going towards Wu Mei were actually not going for Wu Mei. They were going for you!
- [01:07] * WuMei wonders what she must be doing to get their attention.
- [01:08] <WuMei> I'm going go to check on the other one.
- [01:08] * WuMei follows.
- [01:08] <[Crix]Ashra> Alrighty then.
- [01:09] <NomDeNarrateur> Ashra: So close this time! You manage to win some chips back, but there's no profit in this (let's round it up to 1ℱ)
- [01:11] <[Crix]Ashra> I gave you a chance and you blew it, I'll see you in a few decades Mr. slot machine.
- [01:11] * [Crix]Ashra walks off to find BigTree and Millie.
- [01:12] <NomDeNarrateur> Ashra: the machine frowns. It was just doing its job, you know?
- [01:16] <NomDeNarrateur> Millie: two other men join you at the blackjack table
- [01:17] <[Atai]Millie> Ah, more players? Hello, and hello.
- [01:17] <NomDeNarrateur> Millie: the other players nod and push some chips forward
- [01:17] * [Atai]Millie places a 2ℱ bet again.
- [01:20] <NomDeNarrateur> Millie: the dealer takes the deck and gives it a few good shuffles
- [01:21] <NomDeNarrateur> She offers it to you to cut
- [01:27] * [Atai]Millie cuts it.
- [01:29] <NomDeNarrateur> Millie: out comes the cards: an 8 and a 2 for your left neighbour, a king and a ten for your right, and a 2 and a 3 for yourself
- [01:30] <[Atai]Millie> Hmm.
- [01:31] * [Atai]Millie knocks softly on the table.
- [01:31] <NomDeNarrateur> The dealer gets a 9
- [01:31] <NomDeNarrateur> A card flies across the table. A 6
- [01:31] * [Crix]Ashra watches Millie play at the card table from a small nearby bar.
- [01:32] <[Atai]Millie> Mmm.
- [01:32] * [Atai]Millie knocks again, smiling a little.
- [01:33] <NomDeNarrateur> As if on cue, out comes the Jack of Hearts
- [01:33] <[Atai]Millie> Hmm~
- [01:33] * [Atai]Millie stands.
- [01:33] <NomDeNarrateur> Your 2ℱ turns into 4
- [01:34] <[Crix]Ashra> She has much more luck then I do...
- [01:35] * [Atai]Millie gets up, tips the dealer, picks up her briefcase, and leaves the table.
- [01:35] <NomDeNarrateur> Millie: the three men who were actually coming towards you and not Wu Mei are watching from behind you, and as you hit the smooth 21, they give you soft applause
- [01:35] <NomDeNarrateur> Some Guy: "Doing well today?"
- [01:36] * [Atai]Millie grins graciously.
- [01:36] <[Atai]Millie> It looks that way~
- [01:37] <NomDeNarrateur> "You're playing for such small odds though. It's a shame, with your apparent skill."
- [01:37] * WuMei keeps an eye on the dweebs.
- [01:43] <[Atai]Millie> Well, I wouldn't want to lose it all like that, now, would I?
- [01:44] <NomDeNarrateur> "You could be winning big though. Real big."
