- After four days of flight, the Hive you have been heading towards is more in sight. You can see that it is a spire that seems to tower up to skewer the clouds above, composed of some unknown material. It seems to glitter in the heat of the desert. The Hive slopes out from the bottom of a rocky red crater, too steep to be able to go down normally. The constant droning sound of the Sands is almost deafening. You have to crane your necks to take in the full scope of it; it is the size of a mountain unto itself, dominating the landscape. Just looking at the structure fills you with a vague sense of dread.
- "It's even worse up close," Violet comments as you all gather on the deck.
- Aurora looks intimidated, but also curious. "I wonder where these things came from. How long this place has been standing. It's like… like it's been sitting here for a million years, just waiting for us."
- "Being blind has its mercies, I gather," Dawn says with a wry smile.
- Carabas looks very troubled. "How in the world are we meant to search that? It could be anywhere!"
