<h1>{ yaiilae. </h1>

Yaiilae (s./pl.) are the only true native species to <B>Eakradal</B>, and their history reports that they were created from the ice and dust of the Fioras mountain range by an omnipotent, shapeless being whose name is They of One Thousand Souls. These people have always been there supposedly as long as the landmass has existed, formed shortly after the tectonic events that gave rise to such massive land formations. Of course, this isn’t true, but the immutable fact remains that the Yaiilae are the only Eakradaleans that did not immigrate. They are a humanoid, hermaphroditic species that roam the darkness and have an affinity for ice. They are shape-changers and devourers of weaker species. A raid by even a single Yaiilae will devastate a small village and erase it from the map. They are blood drinkers and bone eaters, leaving nothing but skin in their wake. Initially, they were terrors to all who strayed into their territory… <br>
But alas, with time and experience comes a hard-earned knowledge of one’s enemy. Immigrants to Eakradal were initially sent as exiles and outlaws to die, but would shortly learn that Yaiilae sleep during the “day” and can be harmed by fire. As a result, almost a millennium of extreme hunting has dwindled their numbers and they have been forced to become exogamous in their mating practices. While a pair of Yaiilae will mate for life, they tend to choose sexual partners for one another among different species. Because their reproductive process is deadly for all but themselves, hosting a Yaiilae in one’s womb is considered fatal and women suspected of having been impregnated by them are slaughtered without remorse. The coital act by all outward appearances is very human, but the penile insertion is more like a veiny flesh tube with a gaping hole at its tip. It is somewhat tentacle-esque in that it moves much like a limber appendage and involves implanting a partially-fertilized egg into a host. The shell will then slowly hatch, the fetus extending prickly attachments that latch onto the thickened wall of a female’s uterus. Yaiilae offspring follow similar growth patterns to that of a human, maturing at roughly the same rate… But the energy demand is slightly higher, and it feeds off the woman’s blood and marrow until she is practically collapsing and unable to move.
<br>Once labor is set into motion, the child tears from the host’s body, killing her in the process. Through predatory selection, Yaiilae have in recent decades managed to replenish some of their population this way, and are accumulating a variety of new genes that have allowed them to evolve. The Yaiilae are beasts to be feared and though humans once thought themselves safe and capable, these hybridized mutants have struck fear into the hearts of the inhabitants of Eakradal. Full-blooded Yaiilae, due to a diminished genetic pool (a byproduct of their culling), are typically slain at birth because they are believed to be defective.<br>
While one might wonder what has become of Yaiilae culture since they have started seeking females of other species to sire their young, the Yaiilae themselves know that the call of the horde is strong. These hybrids will always find their way back home as if fate pulls them toward their origin point. The foothills of Mt. Elyra, the dreaded mountain that supposedly houses the deity They of One Thousand Souls. Yaiilae view Elyra as a god and their progenitor, whose peak is thought to be their male sex organ. The Yaiilae believe that death and destruction will bring their seed home to them and that as a result of their heritage, they will always seek the comfort of their horde- whether they realize it is this comfort they are yearning for or not. There is no fear of cultural extermination among them because their lore holds fast to the natural call of unity. They could not conceive of a Yaiilae forsaking its people.

<B>❅</B> Shari is thought to be as old as the settlement of Hanigrimm, perhaps older, and is one of the most ancient <a href="" title="An organization whose only allegiance is to safeguarding the most tainted of Elosin's gifts to the Uprian people.">Kindred</a> to date, save for the Guardian of Time. She is also considered "unofficially" to be the de facto leader of the enclave. <br>
<B>❅</B> Her designation is <B>Bloodsworn,</B> meaning she is a practitioner and scholar of the art of LEUKOS, thought by many as simply 'Blood Magic.' As a mediator between Vitae and Caedos, however, Shari's role among her kin is much more complex. She "sat-in" for the Lifesworn Kindred when welcoming the newest inductee into the art.<br>
<B>❅</B> Shari's species is designated as a "<a title="Please reset for more information.">Yaiilae</a> Hybrid." She has never commented on the nature of her parentage beyond that of Yaiilae, save for to a select individual that is now deceased. The truth is that her Calonoer name is passed onto her from the first <I>daemon</i> warden of Hanigrimm, who impregnated a Yaiilae and killed it after it gave birth to their little monster. However, what the beast of a man did not anticipate was retribution from the horde... <br>
<B>❅</B> Shari is an unusual case for a hybrid. Typically, with puberty comes the emergence of Yaiilae's greed for flesh and bone. Her predatory instincts overtook her in the wake of the bloodbath at Hanigrimm and her first "rise" to the call of hunger dawned before she was even chronologically a decade. However, it would not be until years later that she first met the horde.<br>
<B>❅</B> Yaiilae feast on organs, blood, and bone, whilst daemons feed on the living for their flesh. Shari is a <B>cannibal</B>, but her predisposition coerces her into a cycle of starvation and binging, wherein Shari will push herself to her limits in terms of denying herself sustenance, lending itself to her pallid skin and thin-looking physique, as well as chapped lips, erratic eyes and perpetual rings of exhaustion. Her glamor can, at times, blurs when she is reaching the point of no return and deeply emotional. Then, she must give in and feed. There is only so long a person can stand walking around in a state of perpetual hunger before they start to go mad.<br>
<B>❅</B> She grew up in the care of the Bloodsworn before her, an Umbrus elemental by the name of <b>Hausis</B>. Hausis would return to the darkness once Shari stepped up to the mantle of Bloodsworn, akin to an elemental 'death.' <br>
<B>❅</B> Shari carved her own tattoos into her human guise. Though she could have used glamor to emulate the clan's colors, she went through the painstaking process of decorating her own skin, using nothing but her reflection and the moonlight as a guide. It is said she did this after she returned from living with the Yaiilae for nearly two decades. After she marked her skin, she took her vows. Hausis remarked that after having immersed herself among her "people," Shari never quite seemed as sound-of-mind as she had been prior to this journey.
