  1. Q: What are you trying to do?
  2. A: I am trying to beat the game as fast as possible without using glitches.
  3.
  4. Q: Who holds the world record?
  5. A: ExarionU, with a 2:32:23 run. You can check it on speedrun.com by just typing Pokémon Emerald.
  6.
  7. Q: Why do you keep resetting?
  8. A: I probably didn't get the Mudkip I'm searching for (it's a frame perfect trick that gives you a Naughty Mudkip with 21 HP, 23 Attack, 28 Defense, 30 Special Attack, 29 Special Defense, and 29 Speed) or my Pokémon fainted.
  9.
  10. Q: Why do you choose the girl?
  11. A: The boy speaks 7.5 seconds worth of text less, and the Rival II fight is much easier.
  12.
  13. Q: What are you playing on?
  14. A: I am using a Game Cube with a Game Boy Player hardware and Game Boy Play disk.
  15.
  16. Q: What do you use to capture your footage?
  17. A: I use a Dazzle DVC 100 with 3 splitters. Software-wise, I use Open Broadcaster Service.
  18.
  19. Q: What do you use to play the game?
  20. A: I use both a Game Boy Advanced SP and a Game Cube Controller. I use the SP for its dpad and menuing, and the GCC for its select, A, and B buttons. This method is known as "dual-wielding".
  21.
  22. Q: Did you literally just manip an Abra and a Taillow just like nothing?
  23. A: Yes.
  24.
  25. Q: Wow.
  26. A: I know. Also that's not a question.
  27.
  28. Q: How did you do it?
  29. A: I reset the game in the middle of the run to reset my RNG frame to 0 and my STID (Secret Trainer ID) to 0 as well. Then I press Continue on a precise frame (a 4-frame window that can be adjusted with movement if you hit early), and I get one of the 4 possible Abras that you can encounter with this method. I catch manip it (this is a 20 frames window), and then I say "NO" to naming it at a specific time (this is a 12 frames or 16 frames window depending on which Abra I got). After that I follow a pattern that eventually gives me a Taillow, which I also catch manip (normally a 20 frames window too, but these can be 11 and 13 as well).
  30.
  31. Q: Why are you reading a Wikipedia page?
  32. A: It helps me change my mentality, which is truly key in a speedrun. When I feel negative, I'll read one and then I'll feel better. This helps me obtain my frame perfect mudkip more often and enjoy the game more.
