The State of the Boop Troop:

I know I don't need to write this, but it needs to get out of my head. It's been bothering me so much lately as I know it has been for some of my friends as well.

The state of the Boop Troop is utter shit. We are joke of the speedrunning community and the butt end of a lot of jokes because of the reputation some of the members have built for us, and I'm ashamed of it. I'm ashamed of a community that can't keep their heads together for two seconds to bitch to each other about conflicting opinions. I'm ashamed that people have to whine like children to get what they want. I'm ashamed of people that feel they have the freedom to do whatever they want because their parents aren't watching.

Now some people might read this and think who are the culprits here, but we all know who they are. Drama constantly gets started by them and they don't seem to care. Because eventually they get their way. Am I happy about this? No. But who am I to stop the most active members of the community from getting what they want? It's not my time nor place to do so.

Since I'm airing out grievances, let's talk the issue of categories. No Major Glitches and All Collectibles need to go. We don't need them. It just adds clutter to the boards. No one runs the category which is the exact problem I said would happen. Now we have boards that aren't necessary and are basically empty. They add nothing to the runs except meme shit. People made this huge deal about how to define the category and they're not even using them. Do you see the problem here? People argue over arbitrary bullshit that doesn't help at all.

Also, let's talk about serious-ness for a second. Yes, it's OK to be serious about your runs. Why is that such a problem in this community? I like being good at the game. It gives me something to strive for. Something to achieve. I like being the best that I can or even the best player at this game. I once was the best runner for this game because I was serious about my runs. I don't understand why I get complaints for being serious. Let me play the game how I want to. It doesn't affect you, it only affects me and my play/runs.

Some probably ask why I hate meme shit so much. The short answer: this community has tainted it for me. I don't mind fun stuff, but when people try to make "meme" stuff official I stop caring and am immediately against it. That's the short version. I don't feel like sharing the long version.

As a last point, the drama I had to deal with a week or two ago to "bring the commmunity back" was pointless and stupid. I agree, we gave up a lot but in the end more people can have fun together inside The Boop Troop discord. They were so keen on getting the rules taken down that they just keep poking at them when they could have been doing the same thing they were doing before without poking at the rules. It was just sad and childish to watch. But in the end, it was better for the discord to do so.

This community needs to change. End of story. We need to start owning up to our mistakes. We need to stop caring about meaningless bullshit and memes. I'm basically at the last straw and I'm ready to leave at the next moment.

Is this drama? I don't see it that way. Will it start drama? Probably, anything starts drama in our community.
